So I just got my 930, coming from an S4. Love this phone so far, the fingerprint unlock is awesome! Im currently on PH7 and I'm getting notifications for PJ2 but Ive held off updating until I could read more and see if that would be a mistake. It doesn't sound like going to PJ2 is a mistake from what I'm reading but I did notice once I take the update I can't go back. So being that I'm on PH7 currently and the most important features to me are hotspot capabilities (this is a must!) , debloating, and getting to nougat ASAP where should I head from here? I don't care about rooting provided I can get hotspot working.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. [emoji106]

I have seen where AT&T and Verizon users have flashed the unlocked firmware from the G930U on their devices. Is it possible to flash the Verizon firmware on the G930U?
Update! I took the plunge and installed the Verizon firmware with Odin and all is working well so far.

Interesting... I was wondering the same thing, thanks for answering, observed one post where a fellow flashed the 930U firmware on a verizon and indicated he's using it on Cricket without a problem (even activated LTE band 17). You would think it would give a model number miss match message and fail. Thanks for info...

I picked up the unlocked one because it was $10.00 cheaper to but out right and from Best Buy it had a $75.00 gift card. So I picked up a Gear Vr with it. I wanted Verizon WiFi calling and visual voice-mail which you cannot do with the unlocked one. Since the others can flash the unlocked firmware it mad3 since the unlocked could flash Verizon. Glad I did not create a pretty paper weight.
There's a whole thread on it in the edge forums, many have had success unfortunately for me I can't get data and phone calls working on mine so I had to go back to the Pe1 build.

Good to hear I've been wanting to give it a try again but haven't felt like sitting in front of the computer for two hours if it doesn't work. Maybe tomorrow or the next I'll give it a shot again.
Thanks for taking the plunge! I've been wondering if it was possible or not to flash the 930V software on my 930U. Good to know it is. Any idea if flashing this and taking Verizon OTAs could possibly lock down the phone in any way? Like make it impossible to go back to the 930U stock software at some point down the line if say I switch carriers or want to sell the phone. This is what is mainly keeping me from doing this as I'm not sure.

Should be able to flash back to 930u firmware via Odin. Worst case may need a newer version than the original 930u firmware.
Okay cool. I might give this a shot. Thanks!
Can you post a link to the firmware you used to this? I can't find the Verizon G930U firmware anywhere.

There is no Verizon G930U firmware. The G930U has its own firmware with no carrier bloat. I installed the the G930V PE1 firmware for the Verizon version of the phone on my unlocked G930U. If you want the G930U unlocked firmware you can find it on the AT&T S7 forums. It will work on the G930V but you will loose WiFi calling and visual voice-mail.

I have no idea. I bought the phone on a Friday and on Saturday I flashed the Verizon firmware. I have used the phone for a week and half with the Verizon firmware and it is fine. I only used the U firmware for one day. I wanted the Verizon version all along but Best Buy had the unlocked 930U for $10 cheaper than the Verizon version and a $75 gift card with purchase.

I've been looking for a thread on this and nothing. I want to go to the U firmware from my stock 930v. I get home in a few days and will try it then. Root reads like a waste of time for me so I really want to try this.

Hey guys - I've recently switched back to Android. I've poured through some of the discussions on flashing the 935U on the 935A. The post says that you will lose carrier features, but I haven't been able to find what exactly those are. Some of my guesses are:
Advanced Message
VoLTE
Wifi Calling?
I'm on the PG1 update.
Thanks!

Yea, you'll lose phone carrier features.
There's no harm in test driving U. If you don't like it just flash back.

how do i go about doing this >?
Hello,
I got a good deal on a new sealed Verizon S7 edge, going to use on Cricket. The phone will be in my hands on Tuesday.
The question I have is can I just charge the phone and flash it right out of the box to 935U? Or do I have to turn it on and do anything to it?
Thanks for your time.
Just put that sucka in download mode and flash that u firmware
Many thanks for the reply that's what I was thinking.
Just wanted to be sure. Take Care.
I'm using a Verizon S7 Edge right now on Cricket with the 935U software. I don't have any issues.

Thanks for the information I saw a few posts about IMEI issues, hope I don't run into that. Not going to root just flash the 935U firmware. Did you have any issues with activation or IMEI? Hoping to just pop my sim in and go.

Nope. I just flashed the 935U software, rebooted the phone, popped in my sim card and the phone automatically restarted and download all of the APNs. I haven't rooted either.

That's great to hear ! I've been messing with electronics for years. First time flashing a phone, not worried about the process, just the activation. Very happy with Cricket, I don't mind my speed being capped, never bothered me, use WiFi 85% of the time.

No you have the 935v =Verizon stock firmware, the 935U is Samsung international firmware meaning it don't have a carrier like Verizon. ect.
Hello all,
Apologies in advance, I have been away from the flashing scene since Nexus 4 days. I recently purchased a US unlocked S7E from Best Buy. I am wondering if:
1) Can I flash the AT&T firmware so that I can gain wifi calling, and other at&t features like HD voice?
2) Would there be any drawbacks to doing that?
I purchased unlocked since I am considering switching to T-Mobile soon. I heard that T-Mobile wifi calling and HD Voice work out of the box with stock, unlocked firmware, but apparently AT&T doesn't work without the ATT firmware... Is that correct?
Thanks,
Flashed the AT&T firmware on a TMobile S7e to get those features and have had no down side to the change.

That's good news, are you able to use Samsung Pay, or does flashing trip KNOX? Also, do you know if it is possible to flash back without issue?

I've gone back and forth a few times no Samsung pay issues either. This does not yep Knox. If you are on the U phone make sure you flash the correct version of the att firmware. Not sure if the U phone has V4 bootloader or not yet.

You can't downgrade from aph1 the latest update updated the bootloader. But you can still have data, messaging, etc with the aph1 update just takes a bit of tinkering.

I'm currently running the 930u firmware and love it I have my Hotspot an all. It's a completely different phone now. First few days of my s7 I HATED it. My s5 was faster no joke, I don't know what sprint did with their bloat but it's a different phone without it.

That's what I came from was 930u latest firmware it is pretty amazing compared to 930p. I just really missed adaway and a few other things. I had a s5 with unlocked bootloader before my s7 and yes my s5 was way faster than my s7 fresh out the box.

LOL I didn't notice how much Adaware did until I didn't have it.
There are a few things more im missing but 930u is a huge step in the right direction. I need to do more research I guess been years since I've had to root a device I almost took this thing back an went back to my s5 after the first day.
I know about Sam Mobile but it's links are super slow unless you pay, I was trying to find a decent free link.
I don't even need a custom rom I'm stoked on this one as is, I'd be happy with this an xsposed modules.

Well I had a hard time getting the LTE and messaging to work with root. 930u when I rooted I could not change my apns I couldn't add new ones either. I tried using ##data# to go in and fix my apns that way but I needed my msl which sprint refused to give me. On sprint firmware tho all u have to do is go to build prop and change ro.cdma.default_alpha it says chameleon after the root process change it to Sprint and ro.cdma.default_numeric from 310000 to 310120 and restart ur phone.
