How can u compare between the Honor 5C vs Redmi Note 3? Basically the much talk about is the processors of both the devices. So, how is Kirin 650 compared with Snapdragon 650? Though in Antutu benchmark Kirin 650 loses badly to Snapdragon 650. So the point is how both the devices perform in day to day life.

go for redmi, better 3rd party rom support, multiple youtube reviews on the redmi explaining the benefits
Redmi Note 3 hands down.
Development wise redmi note 3 is best. How about performace? Btw i own a honor 5c nd quite happy with it but not with the development.

Performance varies on many levels. For example, phone X running with SDxxx processor in AOSP can perform better than phone Y with the same processor in EMUI.
i would still go with note 3 if the performance is slightly worse, as it supports lots of roms. and games performance is better on snapdragons

Hi all, I'm considering buying redmi note 3 pro(3gb/32gb) or MI note bamboo(3gb/16gb) for usd 40 less. I used my phone mostly for work and Web browsing, anyone with both devices please give your opinions. Thanks.

redmi note 3 pro - it's newer, better hardware, snapdragon 650 (6 cores, gpu adreno 510 @ 600mhz, 64bit, better mobile support, 16mp camera, bigger battery - 4000 mah)
though don't get me wrong the snapdragon 801 that's in the MI note bamboo is nice but that cpu pretty outdated now, it's only 32bit, 4 cores, gpu adreno 330 @ 400mhz - and that cpu is a power hog, so I doubt a 3000mah battery would last long with that processor, it's known to run hot and be power hungry. -
I also have a device with the snapdragon 800, I can say the snapdragon 650 in the rn3p gives a much smoother web-browsing experience.
Snapdragon 801

Thank you for your elaborate answer, really appreciated.
Hi everyone
I am looking to upgrade my secondary device and I can not decided between if I should order a Redmi 3s Prime now and it would be with me by mid November or should I wait for Redmi 4?
Now there are factors which can affect the decision and I am sure many of you might be in similar situation as well. I like to game a little on my device mostly FPS online like Nova or MC4. I do not play any other game and I plan to stick with these games as well. I can run these on 1gb and Sd410 with some frame drops.
REDMI 4
The redmi 4 was leaked around late August and Gsmarena tipped it to be with Snapdragon 625 and 1080 HD display. However it is NOT officially released yet.
Complete specifications can be looked here :
http://www.gsmarena.com/xiaomi_redmi_4-8263.php
if we talk about generally, the advantages of redmi 4 over 3s,
more support
rom development
better performance
moving to nougat before redmi 3s which might stay at marshmallow.
Different design with a curve which may help in grip as 3s is slippery
HD display 1080 vs 720
If we look at 430 vs 625, we see there is no comparision between the two. 625 is a clear winner in all aspects
These are strong points out of which only the snapdragon 625 attracts me more.
Why to go for 625 ?
Smaller size Soc 14nm vs 28nm on redmi 3s prime which translate to 30-35% more user friendly
Higher clock speed: 2ghz speed vs 1.4 so better gaming and performance
Big Little Technology : It utilises faster cores when gaming and slower cores while reading/emails/browsing to safe additional battery
Better modem : X9 vs X6
Now the only issue is WHEN it will be available as I am looking to get a device by Christmas.
Now the problems waiting for Redmi 4
Not announced at all and no clue when it may happen
After availability, it will take some time to be available on distributers and it will take time
be expensive as it is not available in Europe and initially new devices are expensive
May need to wait long
maybe 1080 eats more battery and thus Redmi 3s wins in better battery performance
Now what will you guys do in this situation ??
I want your opinion and REASONS why ?
I think the Redmi 4 has the Mediatek Helios chipset or is that just the Note?. If it has, it probably still has poor gps and power consumption as with all their past chipsets. The Qualcomm chipsets win hands down...

I actually posted it when redmi 4 wasn't announced. Now it's a clear choice. REDMI4 prime
I bought the new redmi 4, last week, in alegrecompra.com. I'm waiting to received it. you can also find it in http://www.gearbest.com/cell-phones/pp_563921.html?wid=21.
This is much better than redmi 3s .
I hope the cyanogemod is working as soon as posible in a room for this mobile phone
In my case, i prefer wait for redmi 4, but 3s is more popular in índia, and when xiaomi publish your kernel sources, 3s is gone receive much custom ROMs, and redmi 4 dont, because xiaomi is too slow to publish kernel sources, but redmi 4 is more beatiful too... If i have money to redmi 4 and 4 prime, i choose the 4 prime... I'm thinking to move from R4Prime, but i will wait for kernel sources and choose.
I use the Redmi 4 Prime for 4 Days now, and it's FANTASTIC, battery life is way better than Redmi 3S
Can't wait for the Redmi 4 section here at XDA and some developers to get their hands on
Is the design of the sim carrier any better on the 4 than it is on the 3?. The 3 has a poor design which means that you can only use one sim if you want to use a microsd card at the same time. I have an Elephone which has a dual sim and microsd carrier. This is the same size as the redmi 3 design but allows both sims and the microsd to be used simultaneously.

Hi,
I am pretty new to the Xiaomi- and especially to the Mediathek-world. This is why I have this noob question :silly:
Is the Redmi Pro currently the top smartphone by Xiaomi, at least hardware-wise?
Of course, besides Mi5/S, which run the SD 820/821...
Or is e.g. the Note 4 the stronger device, or any other? As far as I know, the Redmi-line is more a budget-thing, right?
Thx for any info on this! :highfive:
Best
P
Redmi Pro is known as the Xiaomi Redmi's flagship and that means It is the strongest of the Redmi's even that it is Mediatek powered . mediatek disadvantage is that they does not release sources (which is needed for compiling custom roms and kernels) and the Snapdragon release its sources thats because snapdragon devices are the most wanted and that means bigger price but weaker phone. redmi pro's helio x20 or x25 is compared to snapdragon 810 and and its very close to sd 820. Redmi note 4 has the same chip (x20) but isnt better than redmi pro.Redmi note 4 PRO has a sd652 and that means it has more development for that device.
If you want a phone with a lot development buy redmi note 4 PRO --- if you want a stronger phone buy REDMI PRO.
PS: the best xiaomi for now is MI MIX (the bezelles device
Thank you very much! My times of ROM-hopping are over...my current S7 is not even rooted...so I guess the Redmi Pro will be my first try on the chinese devices (Huawei P9 would be interesting, too, but I am searching for a bigger phone)
I have checked the Mix, it looks gorgeous and I would love to get my hands on this, but the price is far from what I invest in smartphones normally...
So, next step is checking the int. Xiaomi-ROM for the Pro, how to install and what to expect...
The best xiaomi device now is mi5, mi mix, mi note 2.
S7 has much better camera. Redmi Pro is not considered as flagman.
Xiaomi has better models like Mi5.
Even so I would prefare Redmi Pro because of OLED display.
But now Im having trouble with flashing ROM as it doesn't has official global vertion. So you need to apply for unlock bootloader and wait. Some people wait more than 10 days.
It's a good phone but with some really annoying hang ups. ( performance in general is good to very good with occasional lag due to bad core switching, screen is nice although a tad dim for outdoor use, build quality is great)
First of all the camera is a complete waste of time and this appears to be a software issue as the sensor it's self is capable of taking decent photographs. But it's honestly one of the worst smart phone cameras I've used and I've used a lot.
If you've ever used a blackberry in 2010-2011 that's the sort of quality so expect only at higher resolutions.
Second of all Xiaomi appears to have abandoned further development for the device ( no news on 7.0)
Also its missing wireless n support which is just weird, doesn't bother me oh so much as I rarely transfer files over WiFi but still an odd omission.

He said the flagship for the xiaomi redmi series not xiaomi mi series
I just busted the screen and looking for an alternative.
The Xiaomi Note Redmi 4X while only being 5.5inches and an IPS screen, has roughly the same spec and I can get it for around 150USD at the moment.
Any other recommendations as I think I want a phone I can manage more easily in public.
I'll still use the Honor Note 8 at home for streaming videos and such as the cracks aren't luckily on the viewable area.
Xiaomi Mi Max or Mi Max 2
For long battery life Lenovo P2
Redmi Note 4X is enough for daily use, been superb in battery life here, especially if you have rooted and unlocked bootloader. Check our XDA Redmi Note 4 Snapdragon section, very large community and many devs supports, so much ROM you can choose. So much supports you can rely on if you like customizing things.
But if you have a little more budget you can take Lenovo P2, same specs but better display (AMOLED), Gorilla Glass, Battery monster and support fast charging. It's very reliable phone for daily use I think
Cheers guys, 4X looks solid as a budget phone and the P2 looks great with the extra battery and better screen. Just need to figure out if those features are worth double the price.
Just bought the Redmi 4X MTK 4GB version...
Quite dissapointed compared to the Honor Note 8 even though they are roughly the same gen spec.
Performance: Redmi lags opening a variety of apps, Note 8 is still snappy since the day I bought it
Interface: MIUI has no multi-browser support, seems clunky and lacking in options, EMUI is comprehensive and feature rich
Bluetooth: Redmi disconnects on occasion, Note 8 has never
Battery: Redmi drains from 100% to 0% in 8-9hours!, Note 8 lasts 24hours+ - 4100mAh vs 4500mAh, no comparison
Heat: Redmi sitting at 42C, Note 8 at 32C while both are charging, Redmi feels hot even when screen is off, Note 8 always seems cool
I'm looking to get my Note 8 screen fixed and sell the 4X. Only thing I like is the black on black and smaller foot print. Everything, and I mean everything else is better on the Honor Note 8.
The Redmi Note 4X has a Snapdraon 625 - are you sure it is a Mediatek SoC (i.e. the Helio X20), as this should only be present in the Chinese Note 4?
I have owned both the Helio X20 Note 4, Redmi Note 4X SD625 and Redmi Note 4 Global SD625 and battery life has been above average (X20) to fantastic (SD625) on these devices.
Is the note a upgrade or downgrade from the le pro 3?
Personally I consider it a downgrade. Perhaps camera is better (although GCam in Le Pro 3 rocks) and lower and newer processor means better battery life, but in general terms it can't beat Le Pro 3.
A sidegrade at best. Better cam, better battery life, slower cpu, much worse GPU, worse build quality, worse connectivity (micro usb in 2018?!)

I've got a Mi 6x so basically the same phone. Again it's a sidegrade from the Le Pro3. It's not really that much different from the Redmi Note 6 really, it just has a slightly more powerful CPU and a smaller battery and USB-C.

I really like the a2 but the 3000mah is a deal breaker plus i really love miui
Some youtube reviewer put the Le Pro 3 (with custom rom) up against the Redmi Note 5 Pro:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h0Jj0mPyZTc
Surprisingly the S820 with UFS 2.0 storage couldn't beat the newer S636 with just slower EMMC, despite using a custom rom on the Leeco vs MIUI on the Redmi.
On top of that, the Redmi Notes have a microSD slot, 3.5mm headphone jack and a significantly better battery life. I've also not been able to get rid of the fluctuating cell signal strength and noticably high input lag on my Le Pro 3 (x722/Elite).
So unless you're into gaming, the Redmi is a better choice. The build quality is likely better on the Le Pro 3. But I'd go with the Pocophone or Mi 8 Lite atm, they're more expensive than the Redmi Note 5/6 but better value imho.

I agree.
The Rom was Pixel Experience June 2018 around the time that Gabronog was doing blind updates due to his phone being bricked or damaged. I was using that Rom around that time and although that Rom was great overall.
That time period wasn't the best of what the PIXEL rom could be. If I remember correctly in June 2018, AICP and Lineage were the best performers and Miui 9 had the best battery life.
I can say this with some confidence since I have kept a record of stats for all the Roms that I have used since early June 2018.
