Installing the Huawei firmware is an easy job as you don’t need a special software or an tedious installation of ADB and/or fastboot like stuff. It just involves extracting the Software folder from the firmware and then transferring the dload folder (contains UPDATE.APP file) inside the Software folder to your device, and then using the Update menu in Settings app to install the firmware (it’s UPDATE.APP file).

Backup!
Backup necessary stuff. In case your device is wiped off while following the guide below, it’s good to have a backup of contacts, photos, videos and other files already saved on PC.
How to Install Huawei firmware
Step 1. Download the official firmware for your Huawei Honor Android device first, and make sure it’s meant for your device by verifying the model no. of your device.
Step 2. Extract the firmware file to a separate folder. Upon doing so, you should get a ‘Software folder, in which you would have a dload folder with Update.APP file inside it.
Step 3. Connect your Huawei device to PC, and transfer the dload folder to your internal storage of your Huawei device. The dload folder must have Update.APP file inside it. Then disconnect the device from PC.
(Use external storage if internal storage doesn’t wok for you.)
Step 4. Now, open the Update menu under Settings app.
Step 5. Tap on Menu key at bottom and select Local Update option.
Step 6. Your Huawei device will look for UPDATE.APP file inside the dload folder and upon finding one, will present you a pop-up menu.
Step 7. Choose Install. The firmware will begin installing.
Step 8. Wait till the process is finished, after which your device will take a nice reboot.
That’s it. You have successfully installed the firmware on your Huawei Huawei device.

You need to flash stock recovery to install. Go here to find stock recovery and use fast boot to install that first.

I am having trouble with installing update. Running rooted stock rom with stock recovery. Able to download update successfully, however, when EMUI shows installation at 25%, it gives installation failed message. Even tried wiping cache and factory reset prior to update with same result. Any thoughts/assistance greatly appreciated.

When I try to restore, now it gives me "No partitions selected for restore." (in red in TWRP when using restore function).
I am so frustrated!!! I got out of bootloop from hell, then adb the TWRP which I can boot into successfully. I unzip your nandroid backup on desktop and moved to my TWRP/backups/myserialno/. Ran TWRP restore function, selected the nandroid folder and boom, this comes up.
Thanks in advance if you can give me any more advice before entertaining buying another KIWI.

well I'm not sure how to help you if you can't do a simple TWRP restore
Show me pictures of where the file is located on your phone
when you choose restore in twrp was my backup in your list ?
when you choose it did you actually check the boxes of the partitions you want to restore ? All of them ?
restoring a TWRP backup is one of the simplest procedures you can do to a smart phone.

Belay my last clsA.
I made a bunch of silly mistakes, ended up in bootloop hell, then somehow wipe the OS out altogether but after working backwards, I got every resolved and successfully updated to MM. Thanks for everything.
I am going to write a guide up of everything I did wrong and not to do and how to undo them later. In the mean time, let me enjoy my MM.

Hmm so i cant Flash if i download Firmware then copy the update.app to sd Card then in twrp recover to Flash?
Use this tool ([DEV] VNS-L21-L22-L31 [EUROPE] Toolkit [0.0.0.8] Bootloader/Recovery/Root/Dual-Sim) to flash first stock recovery.
After that do what you say. I repeat: method to create a folder <dload> on SD-card and put in unzipped update.zip works only with stock recovery.
With twrp it will ask for a file Android Info.txt, something like> Error.... No Android Info.txt!
I just copied Update.zip to sdcard and Installed via twrp and now it's working so can i now just root my device again via twrp ?
Yes, root it via twrp.
when i root my device. i install gltools then when i start it, its crash.
then im again in bootloop. why is this happen ?
I did it 2 times, with no problem ; into TWRP there is a menu "advanced" I think, and you can find a "button" root, just click.

So this morning I got an update to fix the voLTE bug. I'm unlocked with twrp installed and rooted. Just for the sake of experimenting I tried installing it. Well that didn't work. Just gets stuck in twrp recovery and you have to power the phone off completely to get it to boot. I guess my question (even though it's a little early) is there a way to install the update without reverting back to stock?
EDIT: Link to the zip

I don't believe so.
In the past you either had to go back to stock or wait on someone to create a compatible update for rooted devices.
Can you post link to zip?
If you are rooted, you can find the zip in cache folder in recovery.
Can you add what variant and build you are using before the update? Also the build afterwards?

Yeah I can't find anything in that folder either.
I received the update and applied it. I am not rooted.
I have the XT1687 model.
My current build number is NPN25.137-35
My device BL unlocked, TWRP installed and rooted with magisck.
I'm getting the update notification and splash screens several times daily.
Anyone rooted try installing the update with Flashfire app?

If you have systemless supersu, you should just be able to apply the update after reverting to stock recovery.
So I found where the zip downloads. I wonder what flashing it in twrp would do?
EDIT: Here's the link to the zip and I've put it in the OP.

OK, so I tried flashing recovery.img from stock firmware build 33. But the OTA update will not install, instead I get an error after downloading and rebooting (red triangle at recovery mode).
So I tried fully reverting to stock firmware but I decided to skip over erasing userdata. Afterward the OTA downloaded and installed successfully. Keeping userdata does not seem to have caused an issue.
My problem now though is how to get root back without having to wipe userdata after re-flashing TWRP.
Or is this not possible and if I want to root I must first wipe userdata so that TWRP can read internal memory?

Just tried flashing it with TWRP and no luck:
Verifying current system....
E3002: Package expects build thumbprint of 7.0/NPN25.137-35/37:user/release-keys or 7.0/NPN25.137-33/35:user/release-keys; this device has .
Updated process ended with ERROR: 7
which doesn't make much sense since I rooted the stock ROM (Build number reads NPN25.137-33).
If your using a custom recovery flash the stock recovery, then go to the stock recovery and using your computer flash using adb sideboard command. I assume you already know how to do this. Hope that helps.

I'm stuck in the same boat... no idea how to flash the stock recovery and sideboard, what that even means, or if that would break root. I just followed the step-by-step "how to root" video when I first got the phone
There's a workaround to disable the "advanced LTE" or whatever it was called, so I did that. But in the meantime until a more "user friendly" means of updating is available, is there a way I can get rid of this nag screen? Way back on an earlier device (Samsung Charge?) I remember manually editing a "build.prop" file or something to match the latest version so I wouldn't keep getting the software update nag. Is there something that will do the same here, or is there a system app I can freeze in TiB?
My best guess is freezing "Moto Actions 03.022.1.4-N" because it's showing "(updated)" on the side.

What he means is you need to download the stock rom, unzip it, then boot phone to bootloader mode and connect to PC. Then flash the recovery.IMG from the stock rom folder with command prompt:
Fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
Then you can on the phone tell it to boot to recovery mode. This will be a screen with Android on his back and the words NO Command on the bottom. Then plug to PC and use adb command to sideload the update zip like this:
adb sideload [nameofupdatefile].Zip

Strange, reflashed the stock recovery and adb can't see it (adb devices returns nothing). And when trying to install it via the normal OTA way, the stock recovery tries to install but ends with an error.
That's what happened to me when I tried reverting to stock recovery and then trying to install update from phone Settings app.
I ended up having to revert to stock rom to get ota to apply with settings app. But now I am trying to root again but after installing TWRP data is encrypted again. So looks like I will have to wipe data before re-rooting.
WAS-LX1AC432B197 is available on my rooted P10 Lite. When download finishes (310 MB), a message asks to restart immediately or automatically in 20 seconds. It restarts from TWRP, but after some initial checkups, it opens the menu including Install (like when I rooted flashing SuperSU). But I don't know what's the ZIP to be installed. So I reboot, and the update is shown to be available again. But clicking on yes, it is downloaded again, then the same message for rebooting is shown again, and once again the phone restarts from TWRP.
Do I have to choose the zip to be installed (and which one in the case?) or it had to be all automatic and something's wrong? A red message Failed is shown in TWRP every time, but I don't know if it is related with this installation. Or maybe it is not possible any more firmware update, just because the phone is rooted?
Un-root your phone, install the original recovery and then root again.
You can download the recovery here, since we have the same phone: https://drive.google.com/open?id=15JktTFGD346U5hLT5YUWRBz3n2E_hayZ
Ignore the recovery2, that's the other one and you didn't change it, so just do fastboot flash recovery RECOVERY.img
