I would like to wipe the cache partition from the recovery menu, but there is no way to enter the said menu.
I have tried Volume Up + Home but that gets me to Lenovo Service Menu and there is no option to wipe the cache partition.
Is wiping the cache partition from recovery the same as clearing the app cache from Settings, Storage?
Any feedback will be highly appreciated.
Cheers

shut down your device.
then turn it on again with 'power'+'vol up' --> this gets you into fastboot mode.
here you can choose to boot recovery using vol up/down and confirm with power button.
the device reboots and you should now be in recovery.
alternatively, if you have adb set up.
connect to a pc via usb, open a shell and type:
'adb reboot recovery'
cheers

Are you are using magldr? If so, try:
1) Reboot the phone and holding the power button, enter MAGLDR, use 7. AD Hardreset
or
2) Reboot the phone and holding the power button, enter MAGLDR, enter 8. AD Recovery (ClockworkMod) and choose - wipe data/factory reset, - wipe cache partition.
You can also format the card from there.
perfect thank you so much!!
Code:
Android system recovery <3e>
Volume up/down to move highlight:
power button to select.
reboot system now
apply updated from ADB
wipe data/factory reset
wipe cache partition

If this is expected, would wiping data/factory reset also wipe the cache partition?

yes, stock recovery. yes, factory reset wipes all data, dalvik and cache too.
It's also going to wipe your /data/media folder. Basically the sdcard. So pictures and music and everything.

I gave my old phone Defy Red lens to a friend. He messed around with bootloader and now the OS does not see any internal storage so i can't install any bootloaders.
Can't acces custom bootloader.
I can only acces a recovery mode but my options are limited.
I did a full wipe and cache wipe from the recovery mod but i only managed to get inside os but all data resets everytime and there is no storage as stated before.
Please check attached photos for more information on build etc.
I tried RSD lite but it won't see phone while in recovery mode.
Any help is appreciated.

Bootloader is already in the phone, you must be talking about custom recovery. When you reboot your phone, a blue LED will light up. Immediately push volume down, then choose recovery->Teamwin recovery.
To enter bootloader, switch off your phone, then first press volume up then power button, keep them pressed until the screen lights up a little, then let them go. A screen appears, which is the bootloader. This is needed for RSDLite.
About your problem, download AROMA/full wiper zip. Go to custom recovery, then press install and choose the zip. Choose EXT4 and wipe system, data and cache. DO NOT REBOOT. After that, immediately flash a ROM+Gapps.
By the way, when you cleared data and cache in stock recovery (the one in the photo), they were formatted to ext3, which led to those problems.

How can I access Recovery Mode on LG V20? I want to wipe system cache partition due to problems with Wi-Fi and Tethering. The only option I have is factory reset. (Volume Down+Power)
Plug in USB cord to laptop.
Turn off phone.
Hold volume down button.
Plug in USB cord to phone.
After you see a flash of blue download mode, release volume button and phone will boot to recovery.
Do your thing.
Side note, Install the correct V20 variant twrp img to recovery so u don't have to do this enter recovery method anymore, you can enter recovery from the twrp app menu.
I tried the method and led me to fastboot, no option to wipe system cache partition from here. I'm missing something? It's another way to solve connectivity problems?
Thanks!

Do you have twrp recovery flashed?
Turn off phone
press volume down and power together until the lg logo displays
release and press the power button
click on yes to reset
and it should land you in recovery if you have twrp installed
otherwise use lgup to flash the kdz to our phone and restart everything.
Hello, One of my friend facing a problem with his Mi A1 ( oreo ) . The phone restarts suddenly when he was surfing on google chrome, after that the device starts and stuck at android on logo screen logo. he have some serious data on that without any backup. How to solve the issue without any data loss? regarding to this i have some doubts..
1. Doing Wipe/factory in Stock recovery will erase all the contents like Pictures and videos in Phone?
2. I have Android 9 pie beta update file in my pc, can i install that directly by the stock recovery option 'install from sd card' ?
3. Can i install any custom recovery without data loss?
4. Is there any way to take a backup without enabling usb debugging?
