There are some working CRoms around, but most of them havent even left beta... and the CM Ports which are spread of the Internet arent even official.. so far I could only recommend the Resurection remix Rom. Most stable so far but still buggy... and fingerprint might be an issue because Xiaomi has fitted different sensors through the production span of the Redmi 3s. So unless you have an FRP (not sure its called like that) sensor the fingerprint wont work... tested it, apparentl i have a goodix sensor, so fp is out of the question for me now....
In my opinion, it's impossible to get CM14 on Redmi 3S because the kernel sources are not released yet.

And you are right. These ports aren't worth it. Only the CM13 and RR roms are stable,as of now.

That post is commented on Dec 2016 bro...However the CAF haven't release sources for Nougat (Idk what is CAF but I saw this at somewhere else in XDA)
But for redmi 1s kernal source is released only for KitKat and it had 7.1 even 2 months back. Why is it then because is old phone even it got and not new phones are getting?
We haven't had enough source to build 7.0/7.1 yet, so THERE IS NO 7.0 yet
If there's still support for 3S on MIUI 9, maybe we'll see finally 7.0 ports.
Otherwise, we'll be stuck on 6.x for a while.
Don't lose the faith, the device is less than a year old.

a KitKat kernel can be upgraded to a Lollipop kernel, and Marshmallow, and vice versa
It isn't impossible, just harder to attain without official "support".

Hold on m8, we all are waiting for the release of kernel sources. Only after that, stable ROMs could be built. Xiaomi has assured us that they'll release the sources soon, hopefully a lot of devs will join us too when the sources are out but at the moment, you'll have to suffice with what we have right now, we all have to.
It'll take some time, relax. I know Xiaomi is slow in this particular thing.
And, we can't really have a bug-less ROM until we have the proper device sources. Remember, Xiaomi devices do take quite some time to get a stable ROM because of the late release of sources by the company.
Just wait for 1 more month and Redmi 3S kernel source will be released..

I havent herd of this version of the phone but as far as logic goes u shudnt have any problems flashing roms built for LAND .. same SoC same gpu.

Redmi 3s and Redmi 3 pro, are quite similar by device, one would maybe say that Redmi 3s is performing better in certain tasks tho. It's a bit in the eye of the beholder what he judge as a better device, you can find links with google for direct comparision! I head the graphics chip in 3S is more advanced tho, but there until now has to make use of it.
I'd urgently recommend 3gb, this extra money will give you longer fun with the device. Ram is important.

actually 3s plus is the offline version only you can see the specs on mi store application , Having a redmi 1s and still having fun using it Cm14.1 officail in redmi 1s made me more curious on how 3s plus would perform on 14.1 if i get it Hope cynogen 14.1 gets official on 3s/prime/x/plus

I have 3s plus (2gb + 32gb varient) and everything is working fine now (like manual OTA's and Beta roms) coz i'm not rooted yet

I recently found out that CyanogenMod is dying ... *crying in desperation* ... What will i do now ? I was planning to install CM cuz MIUI looks and feels kinda weirdo ... I don't like it's iOS similarity. What will we do now ? Maybe there's LineageOS to come or something. Or Windows 10 on Redmi 3s will work ?

Basically nothing will change, we didn't have official nightlies so we aren't dependent on CM servers, zwliew builds by himself. The only thing that matters is the source code, which has already been forked on Lineage. Tl;dr don't care, things will sort themselves out. The only thing we can do, is to donate to the new OS.

Xiaomi is my number 1 most hated mobile brand, still on Android 6 how pathetic, ffs the Samsung Galaxy J5 2016 has Nougat planned for it (yes a different brand but still same year)
Stick to v9 - 7.0 never ever going to this tomorrow.

Seriously I wl never go back to miui official ever.finger crossed . Miui 9 port by orochixxx is my daily driver now and Hopefully they will fix the bugs like cam recording, brightness very soon...so *** k miui official.

This is not a port, this is official rom from Xiaomi. This is first Close Beta rom Miui 9 China Developer for rn3pro, 7.8.28 is first close beta for all phones from third batch.
Official link,official rom and md5 its good.
I test on mi4, redmi4, redmi note 2 and redmi3.

Take a look at the other Redmi Note 4 (Mido). It got MIUI 10 but still runs on Android 7.0 (Nougat), not even 7.1.

It was question to OP, not to you. I am using Snapdragon version and I am angry that Redmi 4x and 4a got 7.1 and Mido only 7.0. And I cant believe too that Nikel will receive oreo update. So OP should prove this.
I think they will receive the Miui 10 yes, but in version 6.0 of the android.
I do not even care, I really like miui.

As we all know xiaomi dropped support for redmi 3s and it is nowhere to be found on the released list of miui 11 update roadmap. So is it possible to port last stable rom to miui 11 from any similar spec'd officially supported device like redmi 4. If it is possible it will hold on to this device as its working solid till date otherwise I'll switch to new one. I know there are so many custom roms but I love miui and currently rocking mi rooms last update. Not really fan of miuipro or miui eu.

I need just one not exactly perfect but close to perfect ported ram on oreo or pie. All current roms have no stock reading mode, theme store and so many performance issues and random reboots.
