[Question] S7 Edge Video Camera Short FOV? - Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge Questions and Answers

Hi,
I have noticed that on the S7 Edge when I set to recird video in [email protected] the FOV is reduced, but If I switch to 2K or 4K this does not happen.
Is there any way to keep same FOV as camera at 1080p?
(On the S6 I have it does not happen)
Thanks,

What are your camera settings?

Just realized that I have been snapping pics in the 6 MP mode which I'm assuming was set from the factory. I switched over to 13 MP, but that affects the field of view.
What are you all using for your camera settings?

I prefer the 9.6 MP settings because it shoots in 16:9 vs the 4:3 setting the 13MP setting utilizes (which is the reason the 13MP puts the black bars on top and bottom of your screen, because your screen is 1080p wide screen 16:9 :] )
I haven't found a true need to shoot even that high to be honest but I figure might as well use it since its there

Camera tests ( low light, day time)

Looking for someone to please do camera tests with the note 3 since it now comes with some enhancement to help with low light situations and everyday photos. Please post.

My only question is how many megapixels were those shots for the note 3. And it seems to gather more of a area of the photo!

From memory I took those all in maximum resolution on widescreen aspect ratio.
Also I've since upload a couple more comparison sets.

I'd like to see how the Night Mode helps with a low light situation (noise-wise).

from the note 3(N9005) pics exif its clear it is using a new cam firmware........D13QSGH030A which differs from both I9500 and I9505 and my gut feeling is that in N9005 snapdragon version samsung might have used samsung sensor(bcos smasung camera modules have SGH codes) which might be capable of recording 4k videos while N9000 exynos might use the same IMX135 exmor RS sensor as used in I9500 without 4k recording........

I think 4k recording is purely based on the CPU, etc and not on the camera sensor. 13MP is 4808x2704 and 4k is just 3840×2160(8.3 MP) and only CPU should be able to make it shoot thirty 8.3 MP shots per second(i.e, 4k video at 30 fps). Pls correct me if I'm wrong!

Take macro shots in s4

Im really disappointed on my gs4 camera app samsung has removed the macro feature, really I miss that stuff. In my old gs3 I cn take pretty good macro shots ,is any possibility to fix this prob guys.?
Sent from my GT-I9500 using Tapatalk 4
There's no dedicated "Macro" feature, but I've still taken some good shots with the S4. 13MP really helps.
Sent from my SGH-M919 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
the S4 active the macro function automatically when you try to focus a near subject
S3 has the ability to focus within 2cm but s4 camera blurs In that dis only comes study in 4cm.

Poor camera on my 6P

Is anyone expirencing really poor camera quality in slow motion mode? It's flickering and full of noise even outdoors in perfect lighting

The resolution in the 240fps mode is reduced to 720 as that's all the system can handle. The quality is reduced from normal HD video.

I understand that but I have seen some videos out there and mine don't cone anywhere near as good quality I will take a video and show you

Wow, I haven't noticed that before but I just tried it 240fps on my phone and it's exactly the same as you. Perhaps it's because of the artificial light? I'm not sure.

It's been the same with any type of light the viewfinder actually shows that same quality when recording too. It concerns me as when looking at the below is such good quality

I'm not sure what would cause it. Have you got the new camera app that was released yesterday? I'm using that, perhaps it's a problem with that? I'll try it tomorrow in daylight again but yeah, 240fps looks a mess on mine.

You can uninstall updates in the app section using the top right hand corner 3 dots button. I just uninstalled it and quality is the same.

In that case I'm wondering is the camera at fault, normal video and photos are fine

I have a 5X also and used it the other day at sunset taking a 120fps slo-mogolf video and it did a great job. I just got my 6P 2 days ago and have tried the 240fps in great lighting outdoors and its far worse than the 5X at 120. Not liking this. I was expecting the opposite.
The slow motion needs a lot of light to be good quality. Since it's essentially taking 240 720p photos a second, its sensor won't receive much light per frame in low light situations.
The flickering occurs with artificial light because of AC electricity. Your lights actually dim and brighten with the changing direction of current, however it is mostly imperceptible by the human eye, but entirely perceptible by 240FPS!

The sun was as bright as it could be today when I took the 240. I guess I was expecting more. I will just stick to 120 or just take regular video and slow it down with Adobe.

comparison with s6 edge+ on side bezel

can anyone tell me is the bezel become smaller on the side part? (compare to s6 edge+)
eg, for s6 edge+ and s6 edge, it's noticeable thinner on the side bezel.
how about s7 and 6edge+ ?

The fact that the video is only 720p makes me wanna rant so bad

There's other videos on there as well I just randomly took one. from the looks out of the ones I have seen and what the reviewers say. The curve is more like the curve from the Note Edge and not that of the S6 edge or S6 edge+. Has curve on the rear as well which makes it feel better in hand. As for the bezels they all look the same size so far.
