I´ve been reading this forum for 3 days and searching for all informations needed to root my SGS4 I9505. I have already followed the threads http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=40819876 and also read ChainFire´s thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2219803
I have also tried to use the SGS4 toolkit found in this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2192841
I have tried different versions of Odin (v 1.85, v 3.07, v 3.04) and did not get success. It seems that it is write protected some way, since when in download mode, the last line in the left superior edge shows "Write Protection= Enable"
I attached the messages from Odin (same messages in all versions of Odin). I tried to install the PIT file alone as well, but also another error message comes, also saying that the complete (write) operation failed.
My firmware version is AP,CP: I9505VJUBMG3 and CSC: I9505ZTOBMG3
I will really appreciate any help to root my phone.
Hello guys,
Come on, help me with this, please? :crying:

qazmed, I have also tried to flash only the CF-auto-root file without the PIT file, with only auto-reboot and f.reset time checked, but it did not work too. Anyway, I´ll try to flash my original stock version again and then try again to flash the CF auto-root according to a hint from samersh, as soon as I finish to download it (1.5GB!!). thnx!

Hi, tried to flash stock rom with pit file, both with re-partition unchecked and checked and did not succeed. In the first case, the failure message from Odin is "There is no pit partition" and in the second case, the failure msg is "Complete (write) operation failed!"
It seems to have a kind of "write protection" that does not allow Odin to flash... Does anyone have heard anything about this???

Hi, I have just solved the problem and got to flash CF autoroot with Odin, by simply using the ORIGINAL USB CABLE ! Before this, I was using a diferent cable just bought with a cheap charger. It´s strange, because all usb cables have the same 4 wires, but it seems flashing process is very sensitive and probably the cheap cables insert unacceptable noise in the circuit loop...
Just found this info here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2267107&page=2
Try it and I hope you get good results !!

Man I was just gonna send you a message telling you that I tried a different cable USB, the original one and that it worked! Hahahahahhaa! Likewise my friend, this easy solution did the trick
Hi guys,
I have big problem with my Core Plus. I'm little bit skilled with rooting, flashing custom ROMs and so on, but not for SAMSUNG devices. SO what's the problem?
One day I used ODIN for flashing latest stock ROM for my Core Plus. The problem is that I downloaded wrong STOCK file which belongs to other SAMSUNG phone. So flashing process through ODIN stopped and I had no chance. Now my phone is completely wrong, all partition system is damaged.
> When I turned it ON, I saw only big yellow triangle with info about broken update and I have to use Samsung Kies sw and go through Recovery bla bla.....of course I cannot use Kies SW, it doesn't recognize connected phone in this status
> I cannot boot to Recovery mode now (POWER + APP + VOLUP buttons). Before it goes ok so I think that Recovery partition is also broken
> I tried to use .PIT file and checked boxes Auto Reboot, Re-Partition, F.Reset Time, Nand Erase ALL, Phone Bootloader Update and Phone EFS Clear. Al process went ok, I rebooted phone but I see only Samsung initial logo and small red exclamation mark in the left upper corner. I still cannot enter Recovery mode
> ODIN mode (POWER + APP + VOLDOWN buttons) is still working
So when I try to flash official STOCK ROM through ODIN, it allways ends/stop with this message:
<ID:0/004> hidden.img
<ID:0/004> Transmission Complete..
<ID:0/004> Now Writing.. Please wait about 2 minutes
<ID:0/004> Receive Response from boot-loader
<ID:0/004> FAIL!
<OSM> All threads completed. (succeed 0 / failed 1)
SO what to do now? Is there some way, how to fix whole partition system? May I use ADB commands or what to do?
Thank you very much!
Rado
I tried also use ODIN 3.07, 3.09 and 3.10, also with different .md5 roms, but allways the same result. Process allways failed on the same step (described upper)
So in my problem....phone completely hard-bricked. I couldn't get into Recovery mode, but through ODIN I flashed Recovery image. Now recovery is working, I deleted and formated all partitions and cache. After that I tried to flash stock .MD5 file through ODIN, but the same result. It allways fails during flashing Hidden.img file... I think that partition named "hidden" is not in my phone as I discovered through ADB commands. Now when I turn ON the phone, I see original SAMSUNG Galaxy Core Plus SM-G350 logo (with small red exclamation mark in left upper corner.....I don't know what it means, but it's there), but after that phone shows only black screen. But I think I'm on a good way...
Because today is no flashable Android for this model, I tried to flash from SD card .ZIP for another similar phone - Galaxy Trend Plus. Difference between Core Plus and Trend Plus is in screen size. I knew that it cannot work properly, BUT - whole flashing process of that .ZIP was OK. So that means that I can fix my phone, but only with flashable .ZIP . I'm affraid that I have to wait till someone create flashable .ZIP from stock ROM for Galaxy Core Plus
SOLVED I found that original stock for Afganistan coutry is smaller (appr. 300MB) than other origo ROMs. So I flashed it through ODIN and flash process worked ! After that I flashed original Slovakia stock file through ODIN and it's OK now :cyclops:
I have same problem. What exactly Afghanistan stock do you flash?

Hi , I was in the same situation , I have a samsung galaxy core Plus sm G350M and was in android 4.4.2 and cannot root it with anything , so I tried 4 different roms from sammobile and after softbrick (the message that says conected to Kies to fix the software or something in that nature ), and only one worked for me the following Rom:
G350MNXUANB4_G350MMXANB4 this rom has android 4.3 , and I used Odin 1.85 to installed it. Then after the phone came to life I used Iroot to rooted and it worked in the first try. Then I installed Supersu and eventhough it asked me like 5 times to grant permission and said once that it was not granted , finally it worked and the phone. So know I have my sm G350m alive and rooted, now I want to unlocked it with one of my tools (octoplus), I will keep you posted.
If you need any help let me know, and if any of the information helped you, I will appreciate your thanks.
Hopefully I helped one friend with your issue.

Hey guys. As title says I'm new to this but my dad bought a used rooted S6 Edge + (G928F) and now it's bricked for whatever reason.
It started off by saying "dm-verity verification failed" and that it's locked in "FRP lock".
I tried using Odin3 v3.10 to reinstall the firmware by downloading it from sammobile and did so successfully.
Here's where the problem part is coming. According from what I've heard and read, it's supposed to be working now. However, it's not, and a new message has appeared saying "Need to check DRK first."
Now, I've tried looking around for how to fix DRK but I haven't found anything that worked.
I'd like to remind you that I'm new to this so newbie-friendly words and patience would be greatly appreciated.
hi alexaziz....its not ur fault u didn't brick the phone...the guy who rooted this phone, he made the phone to show this error....unfortunately only fix is to use some professional tools like z3x box.....but don't b sad u can try 2 things.... just to hide it and bypass it.....
1....install stock firmware....wipe cache ..............download kernel file like 928-FKLSI-ODIN or arter97-g928fcig-.....and try 1 of them with odin (use AP in odin)...it should boot normally if not then try 2nd option..
2......Download official firmware for your device from sammobile. Extract your firmware files from the TAR..... delete cache.img & repack your firmware. now flash the repackaged firmware via ODIN.....thnx
wish u good luck :good:

Hey, thanks for your answer! However, when I try to install the root it just says Blocked by FRP lock. What do i do now?
1-Try to use Smart Switch Emergency Recovery.
if not then download full 4 files firmware and install that with odin...(i hope u know what i m talking about}
Hi folks!!!
I know is very annoying this question....
But already look in a lot of forums in XDA, but without luck....
So I first start with my background about restoring and flashing devices.....
MY first flashing device was a Galaxy S1 with Cyanogenmod.
Later a flash 1 Galaxy Young, and after I fixed a different and default random soft bricked Galaxy Young.
My last flashed device was a S5 with LineageOS 3/4 months ago....
Im did so installing CWM when was possible, using Odin , or ADB....from Linux and W$.....
Until I get lost my last phone Galaxy S5...
So I had to buy a 2° hand phone quickly....he was working OK... for a while ....the time has passed and become more and more slowly....so I decided to make a reset factory .......very BAD IDEA... I didn't take build information....just the model...GT-I9500....
The same info appears in the Odin download Mode....
But there is no tag with SN, and IMEI neither on the back... :'-(
So I get stuck in the Download mode ...but there IS NOT TAG about ODIN mode in this screen.....at least if
unplug the battery, and restart the phone holding PWR+HOME+VOL. DOWN .
[ EDIT ]
Trying to flash stock firmware with Kies ( who request a valid SN, what I take from web ) in the next models
GT-I9505
GT-I9500
give me this message ( in spanish =) ) ==> "este modelo no admite la inicializaciòn" , which means " this model cannot be initialized" .
[ end EDIT ]
I also tried smash (softly...covering with a canvas ) the power button...but without luck...
Seems like the phone is factory locked..... what I had read may be by AT&T or Verizon....any way to know which dealer?
Any idea or recomendation where to start ???
Its ( maybe ) JTAG cable the ONLY way/solution to fix this, or even this is NOT a solution...?
I will waiting for your answers....
TIA
PS: sorry if I made some mistakes with the english

Hello Rhoban, and thanks for your reply!!!!
and YES, Odin recognize the phone, the flash result is PASS, but the phone continues stucked on the same "Download" screen...
Because I dont have SN and IMEI neither, I dont know which ROM to flash..
After tryed to reset factory whithout luck, I tried to flash lineage, without any result.
Also because I cant unlock bootloader, I supposed to the phone was from Verizon or AT&T.
I tried to flash this ROMS's , setting the image on AP field from Odin
Verizon
I545VRUAME7_I545VZWAME7_I545VRUAME7_HOME.tar.md5
I545VRUDMI1_I545VZWDMI1_I545VRUDMI1_HOME.tar.md5
From doidview ==> I545VRUGOC1_I545VZWGOC1_I545VRUGOC1_HOME.tar.md5
also i tried to flash the next PIT files and same result...nothing changed
SCH-I545.pit
SGS-I337_16GB.pit
adonis.pit
an this bootchain and bootloaders setting up on BL tab:
I545_OC1_Stock_Kernel.tar.md5
NB1-Boot.tar.md5
VRALEC.bootchain.tar.md5
From droidviews.com ==>
I545_NC5_Stock_Kernel.tar.md5
I545_NG6_Stock_Kernel.tar.md5
I know all above is a mess , but the list is the most detailed I can :silly:
thanks again!!!!
PS: I want to put the source link where I take the kernel images and ROM's , but because I'm newbie
( --- ALL new users prevented from posting outside links in their messages. ----), I can't

Hi, the same download screen before you started flashing? Do you have "no reboot" ticked? (Heimdall user sorry) After pass just restart the phone and wait 10 min or so.

Did you have a backup? Flashing the wrong pit file might hardbrick your phone. I guess the above where blocked bij Odin (Lucky you).
In short:
Connect your phone in download mode> open Odin> click PDA or AP > Select the stock firmware > start.
You mentioned your device being a GT-I9500, but the ROMs you said you have downloaded are for I545 and I337, both of which are Snapdragon models. The GT-I9500 is the Exynos model.
So that may be your problem.
Thanks LexHimself for your advices! I had backed up already the contacts and pics.
and thanks Rhoban ....for you suggest I have to start again from the beggining, looking for the rigth ROM for my device... so thanks for put spot on the processor model !!!!
So I gonna start again, looking for the right ROMS...
I will post as soon has news about flashing Exynos rom´s....
thanks guys!!!
[SOLVED] !!!!
Hello guys!!!!
As Rhoban point me, I have to look for the right recover image ,and ROM for my phone GT-I9500, with Exynos processor, who has code JA3G, so with that code I can address well .
So I download this recovery image "philz_touch_6.12.8-i9500.tar.md5", and after install, I download and install the right LineageOS ROM for my system.....
but this would not have happened, if I would started for look for the processor model as FIRST STEP...
so THANKS SO MUCH RHOBAN, and thanks LexHimself for your advices!!!!
??????
Cheers!!!!
Hello there,
I recently tried to get Android 10 onto my old phone. But i already got stuck on trying to root it. First I could not install new firmware because of FAP lock.
Then when I tried to get around the lock, I tried to root the phone with this tutorial. But Odin failed at hidden.img. Several times. And now I am stuck with "Firmware upgrade encountered an issue Select recovery mode in Kies".
I tried flashing with deleted hidden.img - it does not work. When I add an .md5 extension, Odin says binary invalid. When I remove the ".md5", Odin just crashes.
Any ideas?
If it is somehow important: I once rooted this device, but for some update or app, idk, i went back to normal, I dont really remember. I use Windows 10.
Thanks

So you have download the samsung drivers? Unzipped the file with result of a .md5 file? connected your phone to the pc with download mode? And then putted the file on the AP section? And clicked start?
Everything i just mentioned (except the .md5) can you find on HighOnAndroid website. Try to get the odin from there.
Please reply if it worked

Well yes, I already did all you described, but did not get it from HighOnAndroid (I also tried, but the "samsung drivers" are Malware which is blocked by Windows, so...).
I know how to flash a phone. It just does not work because of some weird Error with the hidden.img. I also saw a ton of other people trying to flash their phone with this Error, but their solutions do not work. So I need someone with another solution.

The problem is, that the solutions posted on Youtube and other places do. not. work. As I explained in my starting post.
