Hi all, badly need some help.
So I had bobcat rom installed and working on my device, also had recently installed a new root app for phone, the skvalex call recorder but both had been up and running for a few days with no issues, then my cell connectivity disappeared. Tried wiping everything, tried going to a nandroid backup that had worked previously, tried installing the leaked polish stock rom that had worked when I upgraded bootloader to 4.2.2, sent it in to a cell phone repair place for a "free" estimate, to see if it was hardware related, got a call that it was in the software, that they were going to charge me $200 to try to see if returning it to stock helped, but if it didn't then no refund on the $200 and if they bricked the phone still no refund on the $200 and no guarantee on the phone, and if I didn't want to do that the free estimate wasn't free anymore it would be $100 between bench fees and shipping and handling BS.
So said screw that, got my phone back, and now I'm stuck, I think maybe I need to try a full nandroid wipe with odin, but I'm having trouble being sure that I have the right PIT file, and really don't want to make anything worse. Plus not 100% sure what I'm doing at this point.
Does anyone have any ideas?
Bumping this because I really need help and have no clue, had another thought which was to extract the pit file I have and use it with the leaked polish and a nandroid wipe inodin, does anyone have any idea if that would work?

i have a really similar issue to what you describe, just 0 celluar connectivity, I tried a stock wipe and restore with stock polish rom from sammobile (I have an XEO model as well), and while odin said that everything went just ducky, the phone came back, fully stock, with exactly the same problem...
Did you have any success as to tracking down the cause of your situation or find a fix?
Thanks!
The first thing to do before flashing the first rom is to do efs backup....but nobody do it
Flash with Odin stock NF4 rom and after NF2 modem
EDIT: FULL STORY BELOW. SKIP TO SECOND REPLY FOR UPDATE!
900A, AT&T, WAS 4.4.4. I rooted my phone with towelroot by downgrading via ODIN then reflashing 4.4.4. I've had the phone for a year and wanted to experiment with some custom roms--specifically Twi5ted Lollipop. The version I found last night was V3. Anyways I followed the instructions of installing safestrap then attempting to create a partition to host the mod. Every time I tried to boot the partition I would wait 12 minutes with nothing but a black screen (I presume a bootloop.) After reading some posts here I found it requires a clean flash--not a dirty flash. So I used safestrap to backup, then I wiped it and installed the mod. Nothing--still black screen. I then attempted to restore the backup I saved--fails every time.
At this point being the noob I am, I started to get very concerned. I went into advanced wipe and for some reason selected 'system' and wiped it. After a reboot, it shows the Samsung logo, goes blank, vibrates then goes back to the Samsung logo. I went into the standard bootloader and attempted to restore to factory settings but there is nothing to restore of course cause I wiped everything.
I'm currently at work bored as heck cause my phone is wiped. I can still go into download mode thankfully. Should I have no problems flashing stock via ODIN when I get home on my lunch break? Which stock firmware should I flash for this phone?
Thanks!
Unfortunately my lunch break brought me no good news. I downloaded stock found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2714455
After I flashed all the files (Except BL) when it boots, it get's to the Samsung logo--freezes halfway through then goes blank with the blue LED light on. I waited 10 minutes just to see what it does with no luck.
Another thing I found was weird-why when I boot does it still say 'Custom' when I flashed the stock firmware?
I really hope I don't have to drop $650 on a new phone Any help would be incredibly appreciated. Thanks guys!

AT&T bootloader is locked right? Regardless I tried flashing the bootloader as a last resort and ODIN failed. Figured it just confirmed what everyone else said that it's locked.
Is there a specific way I need to flash the files? Like one at a time?
Do I need to restore factory settings/delete cache THEN flash each? or vice versa?
Am I basically screwed since I have AT&T?

FIXED!
After flashing 4.4.2 several times and trying different things, I came across this thread which finally brought my phone back to life. Thanks XDA!!!

Hey guys,
I could use your expertise and help.
After updating my stock Note 4 Att variant from 5.1.1. to 6.0.1, I came back to my phone powered off. After turning it back on it freezes at the Att logo screen. Trying to boot into safe mode was a no go so I tried booting into recovery. Everything looked go for a second, I was greeted with an installing updates animation but that quickly was shut down and I got the "dm-verity verification failed..." error.
I tried wiping the cache and doing a factory reset. Talking with att technical support was no help at all. They basically told me if wiping the cache and factory reset didn't work I would have to get the phone replaced and pay a $150 deductible. I'm not paying them another dime when their update bricked my phone
So I'm here heart in hand hoping you guys could help me out. I did root my note 2 back in the day but forgot most of what it entails and was pretty bummed when I found out there was no root for the note 4. So I'm not a total noob but bear with me.
I did try Kies 3 but my phone wont connect. I tried off, on and in recovery still nothing.
Searching online it seems like most of the solutions require root access which this phone doesn't have. It also looks like it needs the stock firmware but most of the links I found here and elsewhere are dead, and sammobile doesn't have them either.
So what should I do? Am I out of options? Should I junk it cause Att sucks? Any sort of direction would be a big help! :highfive:

Make sure samsung kies or samsung usb drivers are installed on your pc.
Download stock marshmallow firmware and flash through odin .this method does not require root.
After flashing dont let the phone boot just go to recovery and wipe cache+wipe data factory reset then reboot.
Wait 10 to 15 minutes.
Stock rom link.
https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=24651430732238073
Extract file and choose AP tab in odin.
Upload firmware file then connct device via usb cable to pc.
Hit start in odin.
You're the man! Not only did you save my phone, you stuck it to Att's money grubbing hands in one fell swoop. People will write songs about you, you'll go down in the history books as the man, the myth, the legend! People will swoon in your presence!
In all seriousness though you're awesome! Thank you!
One last question, will I be able to use the ota updates from here? Not that I would be too comfortable using them after this debacle, just wondering if they should work.

Thanks for the compliment. you just made me feel like i am a Hercules :victory:
If you want my advice dont ever take ota updates.
Just go to www.sammobiles.com/firmwares and grab latest rom for your model and flash in odin as you did.
Latest rom comes with the same security patch update the 1 comes in ota.
I personally do this way all the time.
Hope that helps and have a good day.
Hi everyone,
Google messed up ! I received the OTA for the 7.1.2 uptdate last thursday. After it my phone was unable to detect my SIM card, my IMEI number disappeared, neither base band.
The first thing i've tried is to get a new SIM card, with no result, then I tried a soft reset, an hard reset (factory reset+wipe data), and wiping the cache without any positive result either. I've contacted Google, the phone was from Google Store and my 1 year warranty expired on 25/03/17 (the update was installed on 05/04/17, exactly two week later), they refused to take it back, nor RMA, a shame! I think it will be the last Google phone I buy!
I've tried to flash the full factory image of 7.1.1. but nothing positive from it. I think the OTA corrupted my EFS data files but no idea on how to fix it. The thing is when i'm going to the bootloader, under barcodes menu i still find an IMEI number.
I don't know what to do now, I'm little bit desperate, if anyone have an advice here.:crying::crying:
Thank you in advance.

Hello...
Unless you have a TWRP EFS backup, there's not much you can do...
I already saw some people saying that a restore from someone else EFS backup solved the problem and their proper IMEI, etc were back. I never had the issue, so I can't confirm it really works.
Now you need to find someone who can give it to you.
Otherwise you can RMA...
Good luck...
Is there any personal info in the efs backup? I would be happy to help but am not going to jeopardize privacy...

Hello...
Since his IMEI disappeared, there must be infos about it somewhere in the EFS. I don't know what else...

I think giving someone a copy of your efs partition essentially gives them the information needed to clone your phone, so it's not something you would want to do for a stranger.

Several people have been able to recover from this by wiping both the EFS partitions, but because your bootloader is locked (and USB debugging probably not enabled), I don't believe there is any way forward. See the link for the method used: http://www.theandroidsoul.com/fix-e...d-wifibluetooth-issues-restoring-twrp-backup/

Can you tell us more?
How did it start?
Did something happen to it, or did you just notice it is not connecting?
The most easy things first, is your sim card correctly in place?
Which ROM are you on and have you reflashed it?

The phone started with problems since I upgraded to Android Pie, I have taken care of it very well but I do not know if it is a hardware failure, but note that in baseband turns out to be unknown, I installed several stock roms from fastboot without any success, also I thought it would be a problem of the EFS partition, but everything is fine I even took a backup in case the doubts, what could happen?

Did you originally update via OTA, meaning, was it the official update?
Then when you noticed it's not working, you tried to flash several stock ROMs?
One possible problem that comes to mind, is that for some reason, you have the wrong radio/modem firmware. That can happen for example, if you have flashed a ROM, which is not meant for your region.

Yes, upgrade to Android pie via OTA
I already put a stock rom of the same region, following each fastboot command one by one, but everything continues the same, I even installed RROS 7, to see if at least it turned on the wifi, and it is in bootloop.

Go with the modding guide index: how to restore stock ROM etc., and flash a stock ROM that you know will work. Flash the radio/modem file too, and make sure it's the correct one.
Just to say, I had connection problems too, and in the end they were because the sim card did not latch correctly in place i.e. was not correctly in place.

Great that you have an idea. ?
Here's an idea: take a backup of your current config in twrp, move it to the computer, take a copy. Replace the files in that copy with the ones that you want to flash.
Did you mean this? You are aware that you can try different radio/modem files through fastboot, not having to flash everything else every time? That said, go with your idea. ?

I probably can't help at this point, apologies! My suggestion is to flash a stock ROM, lock the bootloader and send the phone for repairs. There could be a solution to this, but I'm out of ideas. ?*

Hello, colud you solve the problem? Because I am havig a very similar one...
Hello group friends, I'm new here. I have a similar problem, I was using the Havoc 2.4 rom, when upgrading to 2.6 I no longer recognize my SIM card and the wi-fi does not connect, I can not install another rom anymore, nor rom stock, recovery TRWP has been replaced by the Havoc and the Wipe System function does not work, and for a few days you can not stay in recovery mode anymore, it restarts every 3 seconds, not the time to click the options. Can someone help me. I'm without a cell phone, and I need it.
I have a similar issue after flashing the latest firmware. SIM goes to "SIM locked" every ten seconds or so, and Wifi drops at the same tie. It's like networking is being reset every 10 seconds. No network settings I've tried change that.
I've flashed several stock ROMs; the one I had previously, newest, oldest, both for RETEU and retail. I used Lenovo restore to upgrade but that resulted in soft brick, after that I flashed the latest firmware via Fastboot and that's when the problem started.
With Oreo, wifi and cellular don't work at all, nothing detected. With Pie they're connected and dropped in a loop. I can't help thinking that the Lenovo restore broke this somehow, but modem files have been reflashed several times after that with no change. I'm not getting the baseband error.

I have the exact same problem, I wasn't able to repair it so I sent it to service and tomorrow they will try to fix it for $35. The problem with goign back to previous versions is that you loose the IMEI and MAC . The problem with the pie version I believe is the baseband. If the service is able to fix it I will post the solution here for you to fix it .

I believe you already tried puting it into bootloader mode. If that's the case, I had a similar problem recently an it solved alone, I let it loop for a while and suddenly fell, into dtock recovey, i factory reset (with stock recovery) and somehow stock was booted ( i believe it was because it was in inactive slot).
Hope this helps you

I am still working on this, I actually did this to a work phone (I had permission to root/unroot). Something that has helped me so far is just getting familiar with the whole flashing process - https://android.gadgethacks.com/how...actory-images-android-using-fastboot-0175277/. I think from this article the problem lies in the modem/radio rom. That *should* be the only thing you need to flash on. However, I have noticed with a lot of roms on here, a modem rom is not included on the stock firmware. But that needs to match well to your phone from what I understand. I have tried a few modem roms already, unfortunately, but no luck.
