Hi guys i have just got the LG G2 from ebay and i have serious touch issues, sometimes when i swipe left or right it takes a few tries but scrolling up and down is fine, typing on the keyboard sometimes presses random leters or numbers, playing pokemon go is useless u can't do curve balls because the balls just drop because of the screen issue..
I have upgraded it to 5.0.1 and the issue still persists .
Is there any fix for this, i don't mind rooting and flashing etc, thanks in advance.

Can't say for sure, but could be your digitizer in your screen.
If it persisted through software change, most likely hardware based.
I just bought a new LCD/digitizer for my wife's G2 from Fixez.com for like $50. If you know someone or feel confident in your abilities, the swap isn't that hard. Videos on YouTube help.

Thanks for the help, i only just got it today secondhand and it was on 4.4.2 factory reset and its been doing it since i turned it on, i upgraded to 5.0.1 and it still persists, i noticed on the top left hand corner that the glass or whatever is slightly lifted and the selfie cam is not centered, could this be maybe a factor?.
A quick edit, on Pokemon Go when i move my finger around the screen see around me and behind me the game zooms in and out, so im thinking it might be the digitizer.
I have an update guys, this might be a bit more help, i have figured something out by normal touching the screen as you would do thats when the screen becomes useless but if slightly touch the screen like with just skin then the screens flick through normally and i can actually throw curveballs so the screen acts normally.

Looks like it was my generic charger causing all the problems all along...
Too high output (6.5VDC where it should be 5VDC)

Sometimes my touchscreen is just perfect. Lately, it's driving me nuts!
When I hold my finger on the screen, the touch screen registers rapid multiple touches. Possibly as many as 10 per second.
This makes dragging and long-press actions almost impossible. Scrolling is very hard and typing is a PitA.
The problem goes away at times but keeps returning. I'm not sure if I had it before the recent update.
At first, it seemed like rebooting helped but today it proved useless.
Anybody, please help!!!!

Do you have a screen protector on the screen? Sometimes the cheaper ones are too thick and the screen doesn't register touch like it should.

Just the one that came on the phone.
Like I said, the phone works beautifully some of the time but registers multiple contacts other times.
I suspect software but it seems I'm the only person with the problem...
do you have a warranty.... sounds like a hardware fault to me.... the only way you can prove it's software (or not).. is to do a factory data reset and then run it with the standard basic build for a few days.. see if you still have problems when you don't have any other apps on the phone.
Do you have wet fingers when you experiment this behaviors?
Happens to me too. I figure its due to gunk on the screen like water, sweat your gf's makeup (a major one)

This happens to me too.
Only started happening since the last update so I just assumed it was a bug in the new firmware. It's like the phone lags and then catches up with itself, very annoying.

I think it is since the update. I'd better reset the phone using SEUS and see what happens.
@ everybody, believe me, I have had the problem through a variety of circumstances and no problem with sweaty fingers etc. It seems pretty random!
I don't have a warranty so re-install here I come!
I would definetly try the factory reset first. I have had similiar issues but its only been while typing quickly. It lags a bit and then it all shows up on the screen plus a few extras of whatever the last character I typed was.
I did read somewhere, can't remember exactly where, that because our screens are capacitive they can malfunction. What I mean is this:
"Surface Capacitive touch panels: a layer that can store an electrical charge is created on the glass panel. When a user touches the monitor with his or her ungloved finger, a portion of the charge is transferred to the grounded user reducing the charge on the capacitive layer. The controller calculates, from the differences in charge at each corner and determines where the touch occurred."
Sooooo if say the ground for the screen is damaged then it will not register your touch appropriately. Hopefully it just requires a reset, cause the latter I think would be a tougher fix.
Let us know
dfan, is it happen only when you charge your phone? What charger are you use? Original?
I did a restore but no change, issue still there, it doesn't happen often though.
Dose seem like a bug and it never happened to me before the last update.
Also it happens to me when not charging.

very bad.. you cannot drink a cold coke and use the phone. I think that it is a hardware related problem. I was trying to reproduce the same with N1 and Legend (with my fingers flooded) without problems. So.. guys with hyperdrosis keep away from this phone!
No it's not a hardware problem as it only started happening with the last update.
Remember the x10 uses different software to nexus one or desire so can't compare with them.
I believe it's the software lagging, this update is faster overall but just lags occasionally, maybe the next software update will fix it, and if not the 2.1 update should definitely fix the issue.

Are you pretty sure?
Tested... it is present on old roms
Well the old roms were laggy as hell anyway. It seems like classic software lag so I still think it's software.
Maybe when 2.1 is released we will find out, or even better when we get stock android running though root, that would clear it up once and for all.
My iPhone 3g also suffered from similar lag issues.

Hells yeah I don't want a defective screen or this thing is done!
regarding your first comment, this is not lag. It is like I had a turbo button. If I touch for more than 1/15 sec, I get 2, 3 or 4 letters.
instead of one long press, the screen continually registers new presses, no matter how firm my touch is.
Imagine how much fun it is drawing the unlock pattern when my phone's in a bad mood...
That dose sound different to the small lag I occasionally experience, very odd.

I've reinstalled the FW and it didn't fix it.
The other day I had 5 straight hours of rapid-fire screen during which I couldn't even unlock the phone.
Gonna have to send it in for repair. Anybody know how expensive S-E are for repairs? Is it even worth doing?
I have narrowed the suspects down to my generic charger.
The charger I bought outputs over 5V (claims 6.5V) which seems to be the problem since I don't experience the issue when charging from a USB port.
New charger ordered, fingers crossed.
Thanks for all the suggestions!
it arrived yesterday at htc repair and ive been watching the repair tracking site. i had some pixel problems, like a quarter of my screen was darkened grey.
Keep in mind my phones bootloader unlocked, rooted, haha and i sent it in as is running the latest miui. Why? idno.
Anyways. I just checked the repair site and it says:
Ticket Information
Status: We are repairing your phone.
Service Type: Repair
Issue Description: top screen is darker that the rest of the device
I havent approved to pay for any repairs for an out of warranty phone. So i guess im off the hook right? I think im about to prove that htc repair people dont give a F***!
THought id share..
Uhhh, we have known this for a year now. It has been proven time and time again that HTC will warranty repair hardware defects, despite an unlocked bootloader.
This is nothing new or surprising.
Did someone has problems with the multi-touch screen: lags, do not respond or random reactions ...even when having a call ?
the solution for now is to push "shutdown button" and it seems to reinitialize the sensors for the screen ... isn't it weird ? It occurs 40% of the time ...
The menu for reinitialize sensors/calibration do not exist (for HTC Legend/Hero you can re-calibrate the sensors).
Do you have same problems ?
I will send it for repair soon...
im having the same problem, ive had it for a long time now, ive gone threw 20 Roms. so i know its not software related, or is it something the devs are over looking??
weird thing ....do Googlers have same problem when demonstrating navigation/goggles/phone calls/voice recognitions .....or do we fall on bad series ???
definitely hardware problem or something no-one has been aware of ....?

Sometimes it's worse than others, I think if the phone is running something pretty intense it happens more often. Otherwise, no, there's no calibration. Calibration doesn't make sense on a capacitive screen.
The touch screen issues have been known since the beginning, and the solution of quickly turning the screen off and on has been known for just as long.
It's part of the hardware, and most if not all Nexus owners experience it once in a while.
Getting a warranty replacement for that will not fix anything, it is a flaw in the hardware design.
Good thing to know that...but really weird for such a device...they probably think about it when starting/choosing next nexus.... ;-)

I'm curious whether they'll return it with a relocked bootloader and stock ROM
i've noticed that the only time i have touchscreen response issues is when i use my N1 without a case on it and it seems to be because some of my fingers touch or get near the edges of the screen glass. i have a silicone slip on case and when its on the phone it prevents me from touching the glass accidentally at the edges and i never experience any response problems when its on the phone. just my 2c.

yeah that would annoy the crap outta me as well, glad mine does not exhibit this problem.
i'd love to guesstimate how old mine is but i'm the second owner, it might be possible that they fixed this hardware issue in later build revisions or it could just be a random problem with the touchscreen/module, some do it and some don't idk.

hey guys, does anyone have issues with the screen becoming unresponsive when warm ? I first noticed after leaving the unit on charge in the sunlight, screen up. basically the screen needs more than a touch, sometimes it doesn't respond without a firm hand. after playing with a few different kernels this is definately an issue for me. even on stock if i play a game for long enough, heat will lead to the screen becoming unresponsive ??? stock rom and kernel is where I'm at right now and the issue is still present ? any thoughts guys ?

I have the problem where the screen will become less responsive after using it for a while, but not completely unresponsive. It's hard to notice at times, I have "show touches" enabled to help me see it. Cycling the screen off then back on fixes it. I've been hoping that someone would be able to definitively say if it's an individual hardware defect or a software bug. Seems like a lot of people have this issue.
It's especially annoying when playing a touch game that requires fast, accurate inputs.

Are we 100% sure it's hardware? I find it odd locking/unlocking really quick would remedy a hardware issue.
I'm thinking the problem may be more widespread than it seems. It's easy to not notice it. I only noticed when I had problems controlling a few precision input, fast-paced games.

I recently got the Verizon lg g4 and applied a tempered glass screen protector right out of the box. A lot of the time when I am just browsing reddit or xda my swipes register as taps and result in unintended and undesired actions. This is becoming super annoying and is definitely spoiling my impressions of the phone. Does anybody else face similar behavior? How do you deal with it? Do you think the glass screen protector has something to do with it? Thanks

I had dual window disabled from the get go and I still have this nagging problem ?
I have had this too whilst swiping through nova drawer
I have a VZW G4, which is notorious with being late for updates. I wonder if those other carriers that forced updates may be the culprit here. I have no tap, touch, swipe, etc issues. And if that's not the issue, maybe the first batches that came out have defects.

I've had this since I got the phone more than a week ago, disabled Smart settings and dual screen but it still registers taps when I'm scrolling and is annoying. I've adapted my scrolling techniques and although it's not 100% perfect it's way better. After coming from a nexus 5 though, it's a disappointment. Hopefully an update will cure things as I think the screen is too sensitive
i've also been facing this issue "swipe register as tap" on notifciation, status bar, app drawer on stock launcher and Nova, with or without scratch guard.
I don't see how some people are not noticing this.. My past phones include N6, S6, G2, G3, S5, even as far back as the S4 I have never really experienced this kind of touch screen issue.. I guess the worst part is its very sporadic.. I can't reproduce it consistently but it is a problem. I have no issues trying to get a replacement device but not if its going to act the same.. I really hope LG admits there is an issue an addressees it in an update. I still have my G2 and I use the same swiping "technique" with no issues on that phone..

Can someone on tmobile or another Cartier who recently got an update chime in if the update fixed some of your Touchscreen issues?
For me, this happens if I swipe very softly. It seems like my G4 is just less sensitive to swipes compared to my old S3.
But I will admit, it is kind of annoying when I inadvertently swipe too softly and click on a link/ad/post/etc.

Hello,
This is my first post in this part of XDA.
My wife has an s7 Edge and the screen started flickering. I got out of this state messing with the power buttons etc. Mainly getting the touch screen to unlock the phone and it somehow cleared right up.
Is this a software issue? The screen when it came back is working as usual when I restarted the phone it became crap again.
Im think it maybe the lock screen causing this, I never heard of parts being corrupted.
I've attached a little clip of the screen.
Thoughts?
Thanks in advance!

Forgot to mention, it's not rooted completely stock.
So screen is messed up?
I had this issue. My phone fell from less than a foot off the ground and landed on the corner. Barely any force, but after that the screen would flicker intermittently. For a day or two it would come and go, and then it became permanent. It looked exactly like yours. If your bootloader/recovery/download mode flickers then it is a hardware problem, since the ROM isn't even loaded yet. With Verizon, your phone is fully covered from manufacturing defects for one year, so you should be able to get it replaced. Sorry bro. Wish I had better news.

Honestly with a screen issue like that, I really recommend taking it to the Verizon store and asking them about it. It seems like a hardware issue to me but that's just my opinion.
My screen has done some weird things as well fresh out of the box. I would have random areas of the screen pixelize until I smack the back of the phone. Even after root It will randomly do it every other month. My father in law had the same exact issue you're having. He brought it into T-mobile where the screen literally failed and went black in the employees hand. Neither his or my phone has ever been dropped. This is definitely a hardware issue. It's almost like a bad connection between the LCD and main board. Make verizon get you a new one before the screen goes black!
Okay...
Is it okay to say I can get a new screen and do that repair myself?
I wanna make sure that the issue I am having is just "buy a new screen and be good to go".
Thanks for your time!
