[Stock ROM] use SD card as internal storage - Huawei P9 Lite Questions & Answers

I want the phone to use the SD card as internal storage: In Advances/Memory I selected the SD card as preferred storage, but the internal storage is still there and has not been disabled./moved to the SD as I used to do in CyanogenMOD 13.
What can I do?

It's possible "adoptable memory"

If you have a newer stock-rom (2.2.1, JPY,JS5) you can put some apps from the system memory to the internal sd (System/Application/Manage Application). The errormsg is because you run low of system memory.
bye

available: 6.33gb

When i remember correctly is the internal sd some sort of extra memory for your phone. On the internal phone memory is the android system and space for some apps.
It is not possible to merge the mem. You can free mem when you put the apps from the internal phone mem to the internal sd.

ah so it means that when u transfer the installed apps on sd it goes on internal sd not external sd one?

[Q] SD card policy... [solved]

Morning.
I cant figure out the policy of the "internal sd card" and "sd card".
When i m using only the internal sd card, all my pictures, backups etch moves onto it.
When i m inserted the "sd card",i cant see my "internal sd card" dir in every file explorer that i ve tryied.
Is there something i m doing wrong?Whats exactly the policy when an "sd card" is inserted
when there is an external sd card present, the internal one becomes unusable (apart from acting as a file storage)..

Big problem with main SD storage - Galaxy S2

Hi to all people,
I've been exploring my new Galaxy S2 and don't know how but... my camera can't save pics on internal SD card cause storage option is in grey and "Phone" is selected...
Also I can't move applications to SD so I think problem is in SD detection... but I've no idea at all... I tried to mount and umount with CMW in Recovery Mode but nothing... anyone can help me please?
Thanks in advance,
try another sd card
Sounds like card is becoming faulty.
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA App
If its the external sd card format it through windows fat 32 .
#If its the internal sd card you can format via CWM but that wipes all data .

Its the internal sd card (11Gb) that's the matter... I tried to format via CMW v4.0.0.2 (Mounts and Storage Menu --> format /sdcard) but the same matter i can't select SD card Storage in Camera Options ... Really it's possible to save pics there?
Thx
In the camera app, saving to the phone saves to the phone's internal 11GB space. Selecting the save to SD card option makes it save to the external microSD card.

Thx Sleepycat3,
I understand... so if this it's true i can "just" make 4700 photos (aprox)? Appart from that... there are so many applications wich i can "Move to SD" so... they move to External SD or 11gb partition?
Thanks a lot

You would be better off having the photos stored on the external microsd card than the internal memory.
By having them on the internal memory if you have problems with your phone and you have to factory reset you lose everything on the internal memory.
I put everything which I consider valuable onto the external memory card.
Periodically I then take this card out of the phone and copy it's contents onto my PC.
Yes, you could hook up your phone to your PC and copy the contents of the internal memory but should you have to factory reset you would lose everything from the last backup.

problems with using sdcard as "portable storage" under marshmallow.

Hi, I have opted to use my sd card as "portable storage" rather than adopting it as "internal storage"
But it doesn't work as expected. Such as
1. Apps which previously allow data to be stored on sd card ( such as stock camera ), now simply
stores it in phone memory even though in the app, settings point to sd card.
2. All apps cannot be moved to sd card. Previously under lollipop, some apps can.
Cant find any options to do so under settings->storage & usb OR settings->apps. Is it still possible.?
If yes, what do I need to do?
Thanks
rooting will help ....!!! but dont know how to root.... ??? normal step of rooting not working.....
found this in lenovo forum:
In Marshmallow, you need to format you SD card as internal storage in order to move apps and that to all apps are not movable.
To make changes you can go to : Settings -> Storage -> Click on "SD Card" -> More -> Format as internal
Note : Make sure to take data backup before formatting your SD card, as all data from SD card will get erased when formatting.

Out of scope.
He's asking how to use sd card as 'portable storage' and not 'internal storage'.
I did the same for the camera, and photos/videos are stored in sd card, please check again.
In these 6.0 version for k3, no option in settings to move apps, but maybe will arrive later..
for some apps, you can move data from internal to sd card (like sygic).
Marshmallow another screwed fcuk, format as 'internal storage' r only options for moving apps/games to sd card.

How to make S5 Adoptable Storage work?

I used the S7 trick to format and have a card "adoptable" and I can see on the storage section both internal memory, a sd card under "device storage" and sd card under "portable storage". (I did 50% split on the SD card).
The thing is.. I ran out of space and I did not find a way of moving applications to the new "device storage-sd card". How can that be accomplished?
GM-900F running stock 6.0.1.
Thanks
