i will be purchasing off amazon this week and was wondering in terms of: Stability, Performance/Battery, and customizations, which ROM is best for me?
i have been absent to the rooting/flashing scene since my galaxy s2 days, so please bare with me. i think i was using cyno or something back then lol.
There are a lot too choose from all good in various ways. I like dirty unicorns and liquid smooth.

I like stock because it's stable, unlike most custom ROMs.
I'm running Exodus with no complaints. Smooth, problem free so far.

Seriously though, no disrespect to all our great devs, but I haven't really felt much need to change much of anything from stock since Kit Kat came out. I used to use Xposed to change a few things here and there, but gave that up for the increased performance of the ART runtime once Kit Kat dropped. Stock Android is really great these days, and personally it's the main draw of a Nexus device. Properly optimized software released on or even ahead of Google's announcements, with the ability to build it easily yourself and restore your device from whatever shenanigans you've gotten it into; that's the Nexus experience.
That being said, I really enjoy optimizing performance as much as possible. A great rom for that is Flonaro, which is stock that's been optimized by building with the Linaro toolchain. Doing this properly is a challenge, but this is one that does it justice. Also, there are a ton of great kernels to choose from to take performance and often battery life to the next level. Franco kernel is awesome and I'm eagerly awaiting a Lollipop release. Check out ElementalX and Glitch kernel as well, flar2 and TK-Glitch are awesome devs that really pay attention to the users, and their kernels offer a ton of customization to balance performance and stamina. Just make sure you use only AOSP kernels on AOSP roms, there are alot of CAF-based roms and kernels as well (often referred to as CM variants, since CM clones Qualcomm's Code Aurora Forums repo rather than using pure AOSP as their base). Mixing a rom and kernel from these 2 different bases will not yield great results.

As a Nexus Device ,Nexus 7 (2013) got so many options..I use Clean ROM (Stock ROM with lot of performance optimizations) & Paranoid Android (Mostly Stable).As You Know about Custom ROMS,I would suggest you try each ROM by using MultiROM Manager from Playstore..This App helps You to install any number of ROMS simultaneously.
I suggest You to try Paranoid Android as it has some good features without compromising on Performance
Xposed Framework is an awesome Tool which brings a lots of customizations of Custom ROMs in Stock Android.Also Check the XDA developer page of Nexus 7 (2013) to find more ROMS info

Actually most custom roms is solid nowadays.

Ty! will definitely take some time next weekend do do some tinkering.. i may go for now just clean rom/paranoid till i get re-educated on kernels ect.. its been nearly 4-5 years now since ive done this so appreciate the responses!

I have had very good results with CleanROM 3.8 and right now I'm testing the AOSP 5.0 by the same developer

I really can't recommend enough Mahdi with Glitch 226 AOSP kernel
Been running paranoid android on my nex7 for a year and a half now without any issues. Stable as can be. Use Franco's kernel for extra stability and you're all set. Either that or stick to stock lollipop. Can't really go wrong with either of those options.

Note: 3.xx ElementalX kernels are for Lollipop, so don't use them with KitKat.
There is no best Rom. Usually these threads are closed pretty quickly.

What can i say. Us Mods are only human, and even threads like this may slip through our keen grasp.
That said, what Mind says is right. There is no "best" ROM. Each is different; some adds customization, some focus on speed. There is no singular ROM that does it all. The best advice, is to try a few, and see which floats your boat, and go from there...
Hi all! The purpose of this thread is to gather a bit of information about the LP ROMS people like the most, and why. As you already know Android 5.0 arrived along the last few months to our awesome phone, the Moto G. However the Moto G is a popular phone, and despite being a bit of an oldie there is still a huge amount of support for it from the community. The proof is that we already have (at least) 22 different ROMs we can flash, and counting. Amongst such number of ROMs being developed at a time, it can be hard to choose sometimes, and that's why I came up with this idea. In the end it is something someone would have done sooner or later, and while I am aware that pretty much all of the projects listed here are under development and still far from a final release, in my opinion most are mature enough for daily use at this point. Therefore, I believe it is about the right time to start sharing our opinions on them!
If this turns out right (hope so, lol) we will have a better knowledge of the current LP ROMs out there, which of them are the most chosen among users, and most importantly the reasons that stand behind. Plus, it will be easier for newcomers to decide which ROM suits them best.
Long story short, just vote for the ROM you like the most. I encourage you to post your opinions on the matter as well, so we can know why you like that ROM so much!
Note: I did my best at gathering all the ROMs available at the moment. If you can't find your ROM in the list just post it here (and tell us what makes it cool). I don't know if I will be able to add them to the poll since this is the first one I do, I will if it's possible.

Guess I'll be the first? xD My vote goes to BlissPop. I tried a few other like CM12, stock, Resurrection Remix or Pac-rom, and found BlissPop was the one that most satisfied me in terms of features. I like omni-switch, viper4android integration in settings and bliss interface with all the personalisation options. It also fares nicely in overall performance and battery life, and IMO it is quite stable... hardly any bug and when there is one it usually is nothing bothersome. Still got a lot to test out though, so my opinion might change.
Euphoria OS is really good. Very stable, better performance than stock. although right now I have 5.1 installed.

Euphoria is definetly one that I want to give a try to. Interested on it's performance and their cm12 theme is one of the best I've seen.

i guess for some stability and performance. Euphoria OS is a great rom although I am not a fan of CM anymore. they got too big for their own good.

Better performance, stability and everything works as it should.
Also xposed gives you almost all the additional features.
Battery life is much better imo

Stock 5.0.2 Brazilian optimized.
Stability, a couple of random reboots but overall stable.
As it was said xposed compensates the lack of some customization or functions.

I prefer that you should stick to stock-based Roms because they are more stable than AOSP, MIUI, etc. Every Rom has their sets of issues just as us humans, we are not perfect. We have to overlook acceptable problems such as occasional and minimal lags or delays, but not the significant problems such as wifi connectivity, bluetooth problems, cellular data/signal problem, FCs, quick battery drain, extreme overheating, and etc.
So there is this stock-based rom that I use, called Imperium Rom v.12 by Slim80 http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s4/i9505-develop/rom-imperium-ll-v1-0-t3046889 It is the most stable Rom I have ever used as of now and I like to make my S4 committed to it, not commiting adultery with other roms anymore. Don't limit yourself by flashing an AOSP-based rom. The reason is the bugs that come with these AOSP roms and limited features compared to what I have been using now. Perhaps S4 is really meant to stick with its roots, not in the roots of others. So I suggest that you stick with a Touchwiz-based rom because of the premium features that AOSP doesn't have such as the amazing camera features, multi-window, great keyboard, and many more. Let the S4 grow in its roots.

This can make us forget and ignore the existing human relationship we have now with families, friend, and the people around us and most importantly , the relationship we have with our Creator. For me i prefer Imperium Rom V12... Im also using albe95 note5 rom but still nothing compares with the original modified stockrom.. no lags, no bugs, smooth.. and the coolness whenever i play games.. especially when i play nba2k16, the temperature of my fone never changes..

I use PheoniX Rom (v11.6). And I think this is the best rom you can found at this moment for the galaxy s4. I am a flashaholic, so I tried every (TouchWiz) rom I could found here. But always come back to PhoeniX Rom. It is full of features, so that xposed is no more necessary (for me). The Battery life is also very good for our old device and everything is running smooth and fast. I use imperium Kernel and never had any issue with this awesome rom.

Indeed Imperium is one of the best tw ll based custom roms. But the only thing I don't understand is why Samsung themed lollipop so bright, although we all know that amoled screens have a better battery life with dark pixels. This question really bugs me.

It's simple: they don't care
Sammy lollipop firmware is way below kk in terms of battery life. Also has more bugs, lag, etc

I found stock to be great but front camera works horrible on all of them. Aosp and cm roms give you better quality images and most likely better battery life too

You must be high or something.. everyone knows that AOSP based roms have terrible camera apps and horrible image quality.. Samsung camera app is way better.. and this is the only reason I can't stick to AOSP.. besides it gets boring after a while!

Since LG abandoned LG G3 (right?) and my warranty expires soon I'd like to change the ROM. Do you know any custom ROM that's as stable as the stock one? G3 is my daily driver and I don't want to experience any problems/bugs.
Unfortunately I've heard there are issues with Lineage and RR. Is that true?

To be honest, there are some problems with Lineage but it is still in Nightly so it is to be expected. In my opinion the best one (and the most popular) is Fulmics 6.9. It is based on the stock LG Rom and makes your G3 look like a G5 with UX5.0. I've been using it since day one and have had no problems with it at all. No bugs whatsoever.

For me AOSCP is very good. Stable, decent battery and no bugs.

If you would like to preserve the camera quality, then stock ROMs are the way to go. The bad thing about stock ROMs is you won't have Nougat with them, and worst of all, they generally don't have as much battery life as the AOSP Nougat ROMs and feel a bit less snappier.
If you would like to have the best battery life and/or performance, go with AOSP ROMs.
From my experience, best ROMs out there for LG G3:
ROMs with LG UX 5.0:
- Fulmics ROM
ROMs with LG UX 4.0:
- Tekcafe UX4
Fulmics have a few extra options in the camera and is much more (and easily) customizable through its Fulmics Tweaks menu, but Tekcafe UX 4.0 feels more fluid and snappier. For me, the extra speed bit is not a deal breaker, but sometimes I really hate the white UI of UX 5.0 - it appears fugly and eye-piercingly-white at times!
AOSP- and CM-based ROMs:
If you want a relatively more stable Nougat release, go with Mokee or Resurrection Remix, though AOKP will also probably perform well, too.
If you can live with a few bugs and a "dark" camera when you launch the camera (you need to take a picture with the camera for once so that the brightness gets properly adjusted for the following shots), AOSP Extended or Dirty Unicorns unoffical Nougat release should also be fine. Last time I tried them, AOSP Extended and either AOKP Nougat or else Dirty Unicorns Nougat (I can't remember which is the one now) had substantially better camera performance than most AOSP ROMs out there despite the aforementioned camera auto brightness bug. The problem is this auto brightness bug really started annoying the hell out of me after some time, so I switched back to stock ROMs.
Resurrection Remix Nougat was mostly fine, but sometimes I felt that it got slowed down too much if you enabled the Power Saver or lowered the performance profile of the phone through the battery menu.
If you want an AOSP-based Marshmallow ROM, Mokee, Resurrection Remix and Dirty Unicorns will probably be the better choice for you. Although the last Marshmallow release of Dirty Unicorns was an unofficial build for the D855, I liked how fluid it felt. The phone really felt slick - like a well-oiled machine :good: Unfortunately I stopped using it as the camera was nowhere near as good as stock. If you don't care about the camera, you may give it a try.

Do you have the LG G3 LS990? Thats what I have and I just cant seem to find good instructions or help on installing the Lineage rom.
Since my comment above, I was able to get the Lineage OS 14.1 installed and working. So far so good, I like it. But I am no expert with this.

Stock ROMs or Stock-based ROMs should be your choice for the best camera quality.
So far I have tried the stock LG v30b, Tekcafe UX4 v3.5, N&N ROM v10.0 and Fulmics 6.9. I have been on Fulmics for some time now, so I can't make definitive comments about the others as my memory is fading, but from what I remember they were all very close to each other, if not identical. With Fulmics, you have a few extra options such as FHD 60 FPS video recording. That might be present on N&N v10.0, too, but honestly I can't remember it at the moment. For me, the most striking difference between the LG G5 camera app in Fulmics and the original LG G3 camera app in Stock v30b/Tekcafe UX4 was NOT in image quality but rather in colours/saturation. In daylight conditions I wouldn't see any difference, but in environments illuminated with lamps in a less-than-ideal manner, I get a bit more saturated and slightly yellowish pictures with Fulmics v6.9. With Stock v30b/Tekcafe UX4, colours seemed more natural, but also the picture seemed to have slightly less contrast with a hint of slightly washed-out colours. Honestly, I can't say one tops the other - all have their cons and pros, but all should be more than satisfying at the end of the day. As for photos taken using HDR, I found that the LG V20 camera mod found in the Fulmics Hub worked the best for me. If you zoomed in a bit after taking the photo, you could see that it reproduced colours a bit more faithully while being slightly less grainy, but it occasionally hung or crashed on my phone, so I ended up reverting to the stock G5 camera, which ALWAYS works great for me! :good:
If you want to preserve the camera quality, but want to get rid of most LG crapware, you can try Nimax Slim Fit, I've been using it in the last few days and so far I'm really happy with it. It's one of the most snappy and battery friendly stock based ROMs that I've tried.
I tried the AOSP pixel g3. So far it seems stable, however its far from the G3's stock rom. But honestly, nothing beats the vanilla android experience.

I flashed the LineageOS Official Latest nightly build a few days ago. It seems to be good, very responsive and good battery.
Unfortunately....there is an issue (on my device anyways) with the screen rotation not working. I have tried every possible configuration under screen rotation settings and it just wont rotate any screen or app.
After hours on google, this site and even submitting a post on here for help and getting no responses, I am going to give up on Lineage and move to RR I think.
My device is the LG G3 LS990
Allow me to join this thread too, I am confused on choosing the better rom too.
My standard on choosing rom is
1st: battery life
2nd: speed (performance)
3rd: customization on layout

I am using this rom for some time now...pretty stable, no bugs, clean UI...just flash android 7.1.1 not 7.1.2 as it has some bugs! Even got 4k video in this rom :fingers-crossed:
To answer your another question...lowering DPI would save some battery but many apps wont work and its to buggy if u ask me!

but what I concern is battery and performance...
I moved from STOCK ROM because the voice dial through bluetooth does not work neither Lollipop v21a nor Marshmellow v30b, v30n..
Hands free Voice dial does not work on Fulmics 7.6 as well.
Instead it works with RR and LineageOS but the Camera and stabilty are bad.
What is the most Secure ROM

I have an LS990 and I've had tons of NO SIM issues with CrDroid (both versions). I'll be going back to fulmics for stability and better camera.
Itried many newwest Firmware . Most of It By hardStyler . its good but some kind of many Bug Like in f400 They cannot detect Storage .. You need to go on TWRP mode To transfer file on pc ... For me the best Firware Are Lineage 14.1 Nightly Build... Stable and Fast.. Oreo Is bit Unstable for now Many thing need to Improve... I am just telling my experience, all the Dev's are best, they are the ones who let me explore more in around android and it's versions.
I used custom roms on k5 plus 3gb for 2 years i think.
It was like first few months i used the original rom and then i voided the warranty with custom roms as i saw more possibility and newer versions of android coming better than what i had. I kept exploring every part of the phone, and whatever softwares i could use and get more from this phone. Few roms lasted around 4-5 months. I love the nougat roms still, there is a Android Q rom already here, amazing. It was a good experience, until this last few months i started to have battery drain faster when i would use the hotspot feature or use bluetooth for headsets, and gps was like the most battery drainer. I kept changing roms and seeing what would give more bettery life while using, the sleep/screenoff state uses like no energy and then opposite happen if i use in full brightness outside and gps
Then
today i just tried to see the stock rom backup is working or not, it did, and now i realise that the most stable rom is the stock rom that comes from lenovo. The battery life is just way better than any other roms (+1hour than what you get in current Oreo and pie roms), the performance is back, Dolby Atmos is back and works, the inbuilt vr works.
The apps which were quite heavy lagged in animations in custom roms, stock does it smoothly, and i didn't need to get a small gapps package for performance this time, stock has like most gapps i think and it's smooth.
New stuff like play protect, assistant, well-being, etc are now available for this old lollipop rom as well, most of the features in the future versions are now available to use with simple downloads and a few majisk modules, without harming performance.
i am not sure how secure the rom/os it self is with old security patches. But yeah original rom got to be top 5 in best rom/os available for this device in terms of overall usability in daily life.
Tell me what your experience has been, i will use the stock lenovo again now for sometime. And might get back to custom".:laugh::good:

just to add you could try the latest stock ROM our device got wich is MM, and tell us your experience. I'm on it since a lot of time, and I won't move from it anymore.

go to TWRP and restore only /boot and /system partitions. that's it.
You could share with us how did you feel it compared with LP.

Lenovo stock ROM wasn't that bad but after installing Android 10 (AOSP) Custom ROM on my Vive K5 Plus, it's feels a relief.
Yes there are some minor issues & bugs but over all satisfactory experience.
Personally I will always stick with this ROM over Lenovo stock 5.1

Yes, I extended a bit, but not that much as you unnecessary long OP, just to say stock ROM is more battery saver than any custom ROM.

Yep aosp 10 feels good.... I will use it when it gets a bit more updates
AOSP 10 has got another build. I guess the last possible build since Dev may be moving out of Vibe K5 Plus platform.
I have just upgraded to the new build & it's stable enough.
Yes although performance can't be called butter smooth but it's better than previous build & most of the phone features that I may need in daily usage are working fine.
Standby time is good but SoT is on lower side, but I can't blame the ROM, it's my battery which is very old & worn out by now.

The best rom with extended battery life was AOSP extended. i used it for 2 years with Dolby atmos mode and it worked flawlessly. Stock rom eats up battery too fast.
