Stuck on Verizon Screen after WiFi tethering attempt - Verizon Galaxy S 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I followed instructions to install Lollipop, keep root, and enable WiFi tethering. I successfully booted into deodexed Lollipop, then tried to flash the WiFi tethering. Now my phone gets stuck on the Verizon boot screen. Can anyone advise as to how to resolve?

Go to the thread linked in my sig and follow the "troubleshooting a bricked phone" steps. If that fails, you'll have to start over and re-flash your lollipop ROM. Make sure the wifi tethering file is the correct one for your version, and that it downloaded correctly by checking the md5.

[Q] Lost wi-fi when going to 4.4.4 from rooted 4.42- can't get it back

I rooted to 4.4.2 and it went fine- then I realized I had lost wi-fi.
I have tried to restore and tried using odin and zip files to install a stock rom after I found a similar problem with link on
Sprint forums saying it will fix the ""button won't stay on" but the fix only works if the device is in stock rom.
answer on Sprint forum says baseband version was mk2 needs to be nae.
Return the phone to stock, run the fix for the wi-fi and then re-root.
I have downloaded and ran several roms that say they are stock- I've factory reset, cleared cache, no matter what I do,
I end up with a rooted device in 4.4.2 and no wi-fi. If I could just get the wi-fi back I would take it at this point
This was just a little quick upgrade that turned bad and long
The Sprint forum had a link to get it to nae, but wont work if rooted., so need to put the phone back to stock- run the patch and then can upgrade to kit kat again
TLDR: I cannot get my Sprint s4 back to any version that isn't rooted. I have tried several (lots) of roms that say" stock-unrooted" rom,
Never goes back to stock- stays rooted without wifi-
Ran a rom VPUAMDC_L720SPTAMDC_SPR but when I install I get msge "ifooter is wring signature invalid" - and it fails.
reformatted the sd card, tried different roms and get some message and it stays rooted and no wifi.
TLDR: need to get stock rom so I can get back wi-fi and then root the whole thing. as 4.4.2 Or 4 , if it exists)
Any options and any ideas as to where or what to do?
EDIT: for clarity cause I am not making much sense at this point
Thanks
Heh... a TL;DR for a TL;DR... the internet is becoming one crazy place.

Maybe a dumb question, but why not just unroot first, then?

Rooted and Unlocked [att to tmobile] Nothing working!

Hi! I am having major issues with my s4 i337 after switching from att to tmobile. The phone was unlocked so I took it upon myself to unlock it. It is unlocked but sometimes or rather most of the time does not pick up the network. When it does have data connection, it is Edge. I flashed the NC1 to root my phone, then reflashed to NJ4 (to unlock) but now nothing works. No wifi, camera fails, no multitasker, no voice assistant. Please help!!!!! I don't know what to do. I should have never unrooted it to unlock. I should have paid the $35 to get an unlock code. Can I fix this?
I have tried multiple APN settings,
Tried reflashing what I found online as att official firmware but it fails on ODIN.
So reflashed to NJ4, it is a bit laggy as well. Tried wifi which is greyed out, Camera still shows failed, pressing the home button to open multitasker and voice assistant brings up a blank grey screen. Phone is no longer connected as a mass storage device, only charges and can connect to ODIN.
I have attempted to factory reset which doesn't go through, unroot through SU which gets stuck on uninstalling and even trying to do an emergency recovery on Kies where it fails and gets stuck on kies failure mode.
I am on 4.4.4
I'm not sure what you mean by re flash to nj4, but have you flashed the nb1 tar? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=50912149

No I have not tried that one! Should I try it and which version should I use since I am rooted?

I guess I was following outdated information for rooting. =[ Which was dated 2013.... Should have sensed something was wrong.
I flashed this and it worked perfectly as you suggested! THANK YOU SO MUCH. No more sleepless nights combing through forums, thanks to you! Everything works and is back to normal, I was about to just throw away this phone thinking I permanently broke it. AGAIN MANY THANKS! I'm scared to root it now.
Although I have one more question, if you could please answer.
After booting and everything working, in the notification, it says unauthorized access and to restart to reset changes made, if I dismiss it, will this fix be permanent and not revert to the unworkable state it was in? When I reboot manually?

It doesn't really matter since you can root the device in either case. The rootable nb1 can be directly rooted. The other one, you'll have to update to nc1 to root. Flashing with odin, you will lose and will have to re-root. Also, see "Index All things AT&T...." by Gutt13 in the General Forum

ODINing to NB1 should definitely help, but as far as mobile data if it still isn't working I thought i read somewhere that T-Mobile needs the AWS bands or something and you'll have to follow the process to enable those. There's a thread somewhere in the General section to do it on 4.4

Solution to wifi lockout when rooting Galaxy s4 i337

Like many others I ran into a problem when rooting my i337. If you follow the popular instructions, you are told to install towelroot after loading the NC1 firmware. Like many, my wifi was disabled after loading NC1 leaving you stuck. On NC1 my PC would also not recognize the i337 as a drive so that wouldn't work either. Fortunately I noticed that Bluetooth was still functional and used it to download the towelroot apk from my bluetooth enabled pc.
I hope this helps someone else stuck in this position. I struggled for hours before noticing that bluetooth was working.
What instructions did you follow? They were probably for older firmware. Back then, You had to flash NC1 modules zip file after flashing any NC1 rom or your wifi wouldn't work. You still have to do it, but now you use OC3 modules.

Unlocking Bootloader, Flashing CM13, No Service

I was on rooted 4.4.4 and finally decided to make the jump into unlocking my bootloader and flashing cyanogenmod. First I tried upgrading to rooted 5.0 by following these directions, but many of the files he linked to were no longer there. So instead, I followed jrkruse's instructions. This seemed to work. I then went and followed these instructions for unlocking the bootloader and flashing CM13. All seemed fine but then I woke up the next morning and had no cell service. I tried adjusting the APN settings but it wouldn't keep any changes I made. I've tried wiping cache/dalvik, factory reset, and even have started completely over by reflashing 5.0. But I still have no service. I don't even get any bars, just an x next to the signal icon in the status bar. I'm thinking of trying to go back to stock, unrooted 5.0, and then maybe starting over again. Is this maybe just a modem issue? Should I try flashing a new modem? Right now I am halfway through jrkruse's 5.0 rooting instructions, but I can no longer get past flashing PB1 and it won't finish the rooting process. Any help would be much appreciated.

Anyone have Wi-Fi Calling working on Verizon with a rooted MM ROM?

The important points:
I'm currently on full stock PG2 straight from verizon . My Wi-Fi calling works great, the phone runs quickly, I don't have Wi-Fi hotspot. I did this after giving up on a rooted rom as outlined below.
I'm on a grandfathered Verizon unlimited LTE data plan. My S5 has served me quite well and I really like it, if I can get everything to work it would be the perfect phone for me.
I would like to run a rooted, debloated, stock Marshmallow ROM for speed and most importantly for native Wi-Fi hotspot.
Equally as important, I would like to have advanced calling enabled for Wi-Fi calling on my verizon number
I searched but didn't find a solid answer. I can try going back to rooted PG2 and asking for a PRL update as mentioned here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/verizon-galaxy-s5/help/advanced-calling-wifi-calling-wont-t3411741 I wanted to get confirmation of someone that has it working first before I spend all the time going through the downgrade/root/unlock/flash process again.
My phone has a 15 Samsung eMMC. I began on stock PB1 and rooted according to:
Working Root Method For 5.0 Lollipop Roms [OE1] [OG5] [OK3] [PB1] 11-4-16] by @jrkruse
http://forum.xda-developers.com/verizon-galaxy-s5/general/root-method-og5-ok3-t3290370
HD video calling was working on stock PB1 and continued working after root.
Then unlocked the bootloader and loaded the PG2 unlocked bootloader according to method 1:
[GUIDE] Unlocking the Galaxys S5 Bootloader using DEV Bootloader [KK-MM] by @GeTex
http://forum.xda-developers.com/ver...t/rd-unlocking-galaxys-s5-bootloader-t3337909
Then flashed the PG2 rooted ROM provided by GeTex:
[ROM] [DEV aboot ONLY] Verizon Stock Rooted DEODEXED PG2 [kltevzw]
http://forum.xda-developers.com/ver...om-verizon-stock-rooted-deodexed-pg2-t3483782
Advanced Calling would try to activate (I removed it from my account via the website and re-added it from the advanced calling item in settings on my phone) but it would never activate after a reboot. It just goes back to telling me I can activate it and it's already on my account and turn off my phone and turn it back on. I tried booting with no SIM card and then putting it back in. Eventually I decided that I wanted to be sure it would work so I flashed the full stock PG2 using verizon upgrade assistant on my computer. Advanced calling immediately activated when the phone was set up but now obviously I no longer have root or native wifi hotspot.
Maybe the best choice is to leave the stock rom without root and use another option (FoxFi?) to enable wifi tethering?
Help and advice is greatly appreciated! I'm still a bit of a newb.
