How to root official/stock 5.0.1 i9505 without pc - Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello,
I have s4 i9505 5.0.1 . I want to root it because i want to install custom roms or downgrade to kitkat. I have read many artical on rooting from pc but the problem is my pc windows 10/64 bit latest version didn't recognize my phone after i turn on "usb debugging". I have used kingroot & iroot but no result. if anyone knows any other method to root my phone or downgrade to kitkat plz share.
My phone touch is not so responsive,
i installed new battery but didn't give much higher result
& it heats up.
I think this problem is because of 5.0.1 version.

The best way to root is with a PC.
Have you install the Samsung drivers? Without those, the PC won't recognize the phone.

my pc is not even installing samsung driver

I installed the drivers on a Windows 10 64 bit system and they worked.
I don't think there are any "No PC" root methods for Android 5.

Thankfully samsung driver is installed but now the problem gets bigger, my s4 is now completely not recognised by pc.

Can Odin see it? If it can, then it's no problem.
If it can't, then I suggest trying another USB cable and USB port.

Hi thanks for reply but i changed
pc,odin version, usb cable but odin is not recognizing.

If the phone gets really hot when connected to a charger, the motherboard is probably defective. I have an s4 that does the same thing and changing the motherboard solved the problem.

I used to have trouble with my PC recognising the phone. I tried 3 different cables and it would work 1 out of 10 tries if lucky. I eventually tried my PS4 usb cable and it works every single time i connect it now.

Thanks all for comments. I'm now rooted with kingroot apk app. Thread closed.

download kies from samsung uk
i had to download the version of kies from the samsung uk site. everything works after that. the version from samsung us said that phone not available.
I connected to a netbook running windows 7. It connected but said this item is not suitable for upgrading with kies.
Maybe i just have to wait for samsung to update kies etc.
Thanks.

Not supporting Windows 8 (Develop Release). Double Click leads to nothing.
When something's function as simple as that can went wrong, that's a piece of ****.
i'll stick to wifi file explorer

MTP broken since MF9 update.

I'm running a totally stock Sprint Galaxy S4. I recently updated my firmware and I'm now unable to connect to Odin or use MTP for file transfer. My phone will mount as a camera. I have used various cables to rule that out. I also went to the Samsung website to get the latest usb drivers. I went so far as to wipe my phone too. Does anyone know how to fix this? I would like to root my phone. I have a stock recovery so I'm limited on what I can flash. I also downloaded official firmware but had signature issues. Please help Lord Vader. I must destroy Jedi Scum

I know it's the wrong section but must answer. My S4 refused to connect. I tried x3 cheap-o-usb connect wires (even a HTC wire which I was told was high quality) and as a last result I used my Western Digital Portable Hard Drive cord which is notably much thicker and it connected.

Try uninstalling the Samsung drivers then reinstalling? If Odin doesn't recognize it, it seems to be a driver issue. Or try to connect your phone to a different PC.

GalaxyS4 I9505 not charging

Hi
I bought 3 weeks galaxys4 I9505
suddenly before few days the phone charge the phone very slowly. i thought its the charger so i bought new 1 and now the phone is not charging at all.
i replaced battery and its not solve the problem.
factory default will solve the problem?
any other idea?
Thank you Ran
Are you using the official samsung charger and USB lead they supplied? Some micro USB leads can be dodgy. One I borrowed at work wouldn't mount on the PC. If its brand new I'd send it back otherwise

Replaced 3 battery. still same problem
It's looking like it could be a hardware fault. It will need sending back for repair.
If you are using a stock Kernel on your current rom I would look into trying to reset the binary counter using Traingleway. Obviously you will need a charged battery for this. Use a friends phone or something
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1494114
This will reset the flash counter on the device but I can't confirm if this will pass an engineers inspection. Make sure you read the thread thoroughly
Once reset, use mobile odin to flash an unrooted copy of the official firmware on the device. Using odin will only increase the binary counter again but mobile odin does not.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1347899
delete the offical firmware from the internal SD and send the phone back for repair. In it's current state your phone is useless so you may aswell try

Having driver problems

I'm having trouble with getting my phone to connect to Odin and kies. It is saying my phone doesn't have the drivers to connect. Haven't had this problem yet. Anyone know a proper fix. I'm running on sacs rom 5.0. I did try updating to mk2 with mobile Odin but dialer freezes and no sound. So I flashed it back to mf9. After that I have been trying to connect with Odin so I can download properly.

Change the USB Port, make sure you dont connect to USB 3.0, change the cable

Anytime bro
I've encounter this problem once before and this is what i did to get flash success through odin.
close all running program on your pc.. start odin and plug in your usb cable.. please do not use your pc while flashing stock rom on your phone because this is why it kept falling..flashing stock rom on galaxy s4 took pretty long time since the file is big.. just wait until the process is finish..
note : you can still use download mode when you get this message ( firmware upgrade encountered an issue )
p/s : i didn't see that it already has been solved.. i'm very tired when writing this so i think i might just post it here so other member can get clue when they encounter this problem
it took time when writing this, cuz my english is bad and i don't want to just delete it
