Alarms and clock do not work properly when sreen is off - Galaxy Note 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi there,
As in title, clock and alarms problem.
When screen is off, and alarm is set, I hear only a quick start of it, and then silience (like couple miliseconds of noise and then
nothing). It happens with every app. It is happnn' almost on every rom on my retarded phone. If screen is on while alarm starts, I can hear it, but when screen is off it is bad as you know. If alarm on off screen start, and I turn screen on, it looks like it's still going but without noise (I can stop the noiseless alarm...).
Now the second part, I can install only couple Clock apps from market (on most I get Error505). For example the google Clock app can not be inatalled, but KKClock can be, but the "no sound" problem occure.
I tried to wipe app data of KKClock and google play.
One more thing, after i push google Clock app into system apps through Root Browser, it appears, but when i try to open it is forcing close...
Help me I'm getting late at the morning

Repost : Please help, I really don't know what to do... I have no task killers and settings about apps in background are default.

Best option is to install a fresh rom wipping the data catch a such....when done without installing anything test the alarm app first! If problem insists it could be related to your kernel or you have a hardware problem.
The force closing of google clock did you give the correct permissions to the system app?

Stock Alarm Clock Issues

Just recently got the Shift and so far its a big nice upgrade from the hero.
I don't currently have root access and am pretty much running stock everything, with the exception of Launcher Pro and some custom icons.
The issue I am running into is that occasionally my alarm clock goes off w/o the option to snooze or dismiss.
The only way to remedy this is to yank the battery... (at least thats how I deal with it at 6:am and I want to snooze)
Anyone else have this problem or know of a way to fix it?
Thanks.
I had the problem show up a few times on my Hero before the official 2.1 release, but I don't remember if anything I tried fixed it. Just letting you know it's not just you.
I know the alarm clock snooze/dismiss settings are tied to HTC Sense. Maybe launcher pro is messing with Sense somehow.
I think the controls to dismiss or snooze the alarm are tied to the lock screen. I don't use launcher pro, but I wonder, does launcher pro replace the stock lock screen?
Ive had similar problems...im stock rooted and still using sense and occasionally have this problem...i usually use audio manager widget to lower the volume so its not driving me crazy and then set a new alarm for like a min later...when the snooze/dismiss options appear for the new alarm i hit dismiss and all the alarms stop
Why not install DeskClock.apk?

No, it doesn't.

That's the same way I've been solving it Seems that if I turn off the phone (Kyocera Zio 2.2) whilst having an app on screen (ie turn it off from within an app or fxn) the incidence is quite high. If turned off from home screen, doesn't occur (or at least not very often - can't quite be sure, but 95% certainty) Just wanted to make someone aware of it. Glad to see it wasn't just me who noticed it. Having to take the case off, battery out, et al are annoying, and just seems a goofy fix for what is generally a nice piece of equipment! Someone else (Hero user?) is changing their vol setting and then setting another alarm for a min later to have the shut-off option appear. I may try that in the future. THANK YOU for the site!!

[Q] Alarm Snoozes Itself

I have the Verizon LG G2. Not rooted all stock launcher etc.
I use the stock alarm clock app and for the last two days, it has been snoozing itself. I'll wake up without the alarm and it says, "snoozed until". That is what it says when you manually snooze it.
I did some testing this morning, and actually found it snoozing itself, screenshot attached.
I download a different alarm app and that one works just fine. I have looked through other posts regarding this but none are recent or in regards to the G2. If there is a solution that I am not seeing, let me know.
I have tried clearing app data and it still snoozes on its own.
Any help would be appreciated.
Now it is snoozing only the first attempt. The second, 5 min later, alarm is going off..

Go into alarm settings and if you flip action or shake action enabled. If so then that's prob the culprit.

Thanks for your help.
I looked into settings of the app, and there aren't any activated around flip or shake. However, there are a few around the back buttons (LG G2). Even still, I disabled those and it is still functioning this way. I downloaded an alarm clock app from Play Store and it works just fine.
Wondering if even trying to figure out what is going on is worth my time or effort.

For those on Android 6 Marshmallow and having Alarm Clock issues...

*** UPDATE *** Alarm Clock Xtreme has finally been updated. So try it at your own risk.
As some of you may or may not be aware, Android 6 Marshmallow now includes the "Doze" feature which puts the phone into deep sleep when not being used and unplugged. Right now at this point, the alarm app I use, Alarm Clock Extreme (I have the paid version), is not working properly. It isn't waking the phone like it's supposed to.
In doing some research, I see that alarms are supposed to call new parameters to be able to bypass "Doze", which will wake up the phone and activate the alarm.
Right now what happens is Alarm Clock Extreme doesn't wake the phone when it's unplugged and left idle all night. When I wake up to (now) another alarm for the time being, and then manually wake up my phone, only then does Alarm Clock Extreme start going off.
This is a serious issue. Most people wake up to their phones nowadays. Luckily I still have an old alarm clock that I use as backup. Four days in a row now Alarm Clock Extreme failed to produce an alarm.
I tried disabling "Doze" for Alarm Clock Extreme (which you can do in Battery Settings), but that had no effect and didn't produce an alarm.
I also went to go install another alarm from the Play Store, but other alarms that I looked at have not fixed the issue yet either according to reviews.
I have since rolled my phone back to Android 5.1.1 and Alarm Clock Extreme is working properly again.
So, if you're having problems with your alarm clock not going off on Android 6, that is why.
Or use the stock clocks alarm function. As a built-in system app it works. It might not be as fancy as some custom alarm apps but it also hasn't failed me a single time.

DeskClock. And it should be embedded in the rom or gapps you use. If you install it from Play Store it will be installed to the /data partition and then it suffers from the same problem as third party clocks. It needs to be a system app.

Thank you. Hopefully this will help out others until the apps are updated. I'm kind of surprised apps aren't already updated as long as MM has been out and available to developers.

Actually I wonder if it would help to use the Titanium Backup function of "convert to system app" for the third party alarm apps. Could be worth trying.
The easiest way we found to counter this is just to plug the device in and let it charge over night. Doze is disabled when in charge mode.

I think that will only work if the app has been updated with the newer calls to bypass Doze. Still worth a try. I'll do some testing this weekend.

I can usually use my phone for 2 days before charging most of the time. Even more so on Marshmallow since Doze definitely saves battery. Always thought it not so good on the battery to charge your phone every day if it doesn't need to be charged.
But that is an idea also. I hate being back on 5.1.1 already since MM runs so much better on our Nexus 6.

I have never had an issue with doing that. Have been charging at night for over a decade. Never saw a issue with battery. I could never last 2 days with my battery. Signal is terrible here.
launch day nexus 6 on the first wave of orders from the google store ('memba when we had scripts running to alert when the page showed "in stock"? ) and i always keep the phone on its tylt wireless charger. the battery tells the charger when to stop charging and when to start...
anyway, stock never rooted and i use the in built alarm and that works beautifully.
I use the system clock for alarm and it has worked without issues on 6.0.1. Moreover, it let's me put my phone into DND until the alarm goes off...

As mentioned here, since android 6 marshmallow developers need to use a specific function for alarm clocks.
The alarm clock i developed works well on android 6 just like the native alarm clock only that my alarm clock has some extra features:
* A math question to dismiss in case you use to dismiss while you are sleeping. You can also choose the difficulty level of the math question.
* Set unlimited number of alarms (great for heavy sleepers who wants few alerts in a row to make sure they wake up).
* Set alarms in advance for the entire week.
* Use your own personal tone– A music file from the device or a ringtone from the android OS.
And much more
If you want to download it search in the google play "Simple alarm clock marshmallow" and download the alarm
clock of SimpleUXApss or SUXA (Colorful logo with smiling clock ).
I will be happy to here what do you think
I use timely & haven't had an issue even during the developer previews.

In my app drawer, it shows as "clock"
Alarm Clock Extreme was misbehaving for me in that , when on a Qi pad, Pandora ( my selected alarm is start Pandora ) would not start until I took Pandora off Doze. Now it works, even though Alarm Clock Extreme is still on Doze.
Currently I'm using the stock alarm clock until Alarm Clock Extreme is updated. I've been in contact with the devs and they assure that they are working on the problem as quickly as possible.

exactly what i was looking for! two small issues:
1. the alarm creation goes with 5 minutes gaps. can you make an option to set it to a specific time?
2. auto dismiss (without snooze) is one of the most importnat features to me. can you add an option to auto dismiss alarm after 5-15 seconds?
thanks
edit:
there's another small issue where the clock icon appears twice in notification bar.

Thanks. I appreciate that.
About the 5 minutes gap. It's because 99.9% of the users sets the alarm to a minute value which divided by 5 like
7:00, 8:15, 9:30... and not to 6:03, 7:02, 8:26... So why bothering them. Maybe in the future i will let users to decide about it
but for now i have bigger improvements i want to implement so it might take some time.
Crashes for me
I downloaded your app on the S7 Edge and it crashes every time I try to save an alarm.

Oreo 8.0 Beta Experiences So Far

As many know the beta went live for Sprint, Unlocked, and T-Mobile customers earlier today so I thought (since I didn't see one posted already) that a thread of our experiences with it so far would be nice to have.
So far here is a list of bugs some comments have posted in this thread:
Laggier than Nougat
Live Messages force close
Adhell2 frequent force closes
Bluetooth fails to turn on until reboot
Random reboots
Personally, it feels snappier in nearly all operations when using Nova Launcher Prime, but it's when I switched back to TouchWiz that I've noticed that it feels much more responsive than it did before. It feels much better.now and I'm going to use Touchwiz for a few days and see if it's worth using now.
The one area I was really hoping that would have seen an improvement would be swiling to the right for Bixby, which feels worse now somehow. While Bixby seems a little better when activating with voice, and the new interface for Bixby home does look nicer (personal opinion, obviously) the actually swiping is still a slow mess.

"so and so app is running in the background" and I can't disable it. That's annoying.

I'm on T-Mobile. You may need to do a cache clear and reboot it. I know that can clear up lag after an update sometimes. Always worth a shot if you haven't already.

It's stable, has silly bugs but on a whole it's much to do about nothing.
It's not a case of Samsung at all, it's android itself. Google just don't bring much to the table anymore
samsung keyboard forced closed but came back in a reboot, usually use gboard though, so im going back to that
I have been running 8.0 Beta 1 for about 8 hours now, and have also reverted back to TouchWiz from Nova so I can view the full experience. So far, everything is faster. No issues with any content or apps already loaded from 7. I have only noticed one small, split-second glitch so far, and that was an animation delay returning to the Home screen from using an app. 30 apps sitting in Recents right now, so could have happened just the same on 7. Regardless, I am completely content, and have already forgotten that were talking about a beta, let alone Beta 1. Surprisingly good job Samsung, and I'm still in shock that we even have Oreo already, to be honest... Looking forward to further testing and the finished release.

Do you think the beta is stable enough ? to install theOreo beta i have already downloaded it I just want to see, if the apps are closing , crashing, buggy ,rebooting ect. Personally it has been snappier with no app crashes. I have had Facebook crash and some other app I don't remember, but it was something else I had installed and not a major component and it has only been once for both, but Facebook had issues all week since I re-enabled it. It has just now been working better (POS app anyway.)
That and the annoying to me notification panel are the only things. No bugs, lag, etc but I can't speak on battery yet... So far it seems in line, but I don't really know until tomorrow.

No problems with Messages here, but I haven't modded it from the Note app so I dunno, and this version doesn't have the Live messages feature still, so I'm going to guess that might be the issue there.

How is the battery life?
I have been experiencing the same issue. Whenever I select it on the keyboard the message "Live Messenger has closed" appears and the phone just vibrates on me. I tried a reboot to get it to work and still no change. I am also constantly getting "New Messaging Features" appearing in my message bar, over and over and when I click "Start" I do not get the code and get it completely registered. Not sure if that is adding to the issue as well.

Battery manager stuff ?

Hello everyone !
I just bought a Redmi Note 7. This morning my alarm didn't ring for some reason. I use the Google Clock. Also I can't make "OK Google" working when my screen is off. Some notifications take time to be showed. Etc.
Is the battery manager thing responsible of all those "bugs" ? Is that a weird "Greenify" ?
Since I didn't unlock the device and install a real Android ROM, any of you have a solution for alarm so my boss don't kill me tomorrow ?
Thanks for your help guys.
Settings > manage apps > clock (or any other app) > battery saver > no restrictions.
Also enable autostart in the same settings menue.
And avoid stuff like naptime, if you are not experienced with such things.
Hi there. It's probably a MIUI battery saver thing. So for all of your mission critical apps whose notifications you want to receive instantly, do this:
1) Go to app settings for the app in question
2) Toggle on Auto start
3) Turn on all notifications that you want to receive
4) Set the battery saving setting to no restrictions.
If you notice that an app still gets closed in the background for some reason, add another step:
5) Open the app and then open the Recent apps screen. Tap and hold the preview image of the app in question. Tap the first icon (lock app). This will lock it in memory and only you will be able to manually swipe it off and clear it from memory. Tapping the Close All button in Recents will not close the locked apps.
After I had done this with the apps that I wanted real time notifications from (or battery tracking apps that I wanted always running in the background), I've never had any issues with late or missed notifications.
I don't use 'OK Google' to wake the phone. I'm not sure if this is possible with all newer phones or only with specific SoCs.
Thanks for your answers. That was that battery saver options. Have a nice weekend.
