Boost your headphone volume by changing the values in mixer volume files
requirement
rooted
FRD L09 (not tried in other version )
ES file explorer
Quick edit
First of all i got the idea from @Demeth (http://forum.xda-developers.com/honor-7/general/how-to-increase-honor-7-maximum-volume-t3337361) big thanks to him
But the above method did not work for me and honor 8 files are different so i tried to play with the other values and found way to boost the headphone volume.
Please go to the above link and do only the first step and come back here
Using ES file explorer go to system/etc/audio/hi6402/mixer_volumes_FRD_ce < open this file using quick edit
Please back up your file before editing
in line
-<path name="media-headphone">
<ctl value="0" name="S1 IL PGA GAIN"/> (replace zero and give a value, mine is 265)
<ctl value="0" name="S1 IR PGA GAIN"/> (replace zero and give a value ,mine is 265)
<ctl value="251" name="DACL PGA GAIN"/> (replace 251 and give a value, mine is 265)
<ctl value="251" name="DACR PGA GAIN"/> (replace 251 and give a value, mine is 265)
restart you device
i have attached my xml file also (not sure if you copy will work for other devices iam on stock l09c900b131 rom
The above values are little high i am coming from I PHONE 6 and i am used to its high volume levels
Glad I could help you with your Honor 8
THANK YOU VERY MUCH ! J'en pouvais plus là !
For rooted phones with TWRP, try ARISE sound mod. It's more than just volume boost.
Sent from my honor 5X using XDA Labs
thanks for the tuto
Can anyone confirm this boosts the gain of the amplifier and not via software??
Anyway to kind of hack a version to use dual speakers? Enhance the sound on the bottom speakers and use the earpiece? Someone did this on Samsung S7 Edge and Note series, so I was wondering if it will work on this?
If we could use second speaker (earpiece)
What if we could use second speaker with bit of volume boost to get much more of audio from this beautiful device?
Thanks for this tuto but i have an error after write new value, when i want to record new value
ok finaly t'ok and i can confirm it's works.... many thanks for your tuto

Bluetooth headset are different values.
The dev only changed the mixer paths for the headphone media only.
For bluetooth mod the following lines :
<path name="media-bt-sco" >
<ctl name="S1 IL PGA GAIN" value="0" />
<ctl name="S1 IR PGA GAIN" value="0" />
</path>
Change the 0s to Value 26

Simply follow this to enjoy awesome audio output from your Honor 8.
Root your phone and install TWRP or other custom recovery.
Search the forums for Dolby atmos audio mod by Ahrion or check out this link https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/apps-games/soundmod-axon-7-dolby-atmos-t3412342. I am currently using the Axon 7 version 3.0 mod.
Flash it using the above custom recovery.
Download a reliable music player app i recommend poweramp.
Go to poweramp settings/audio settings and untick the default option and tick musicFX.
Fire up your favourite song a and wait for magic. Don't forget to activate the mod by launching the Dolby app and clicking on the power button also don't forget to adjust your audio settings too.
I am currently using a Xiaomi hybrid pro earpiece and can't raise the volume beyond 30%.
I am in Audio heaven.....Best of luck sir.
i installed it before going back to marshmallow. it wasnt really helpfull. its a sound manager i want to raise the volume and it didnt work as changing the mixer file in marshmallow or using a custom kernek

The Dolby atmos audio mod was recently updated by @ Ahrion. The updated version 3.0 works well on stock EMUI 5.0.1
Make sure its processing to get all the audio goodness. This can be verified once you launch the app and see the equalizer moving while playing a song or video.
BTW: I have Magisk 14.0 installed don't know if it makes any difference also make sure phone is properly rooted.
Best wishes sir.

Try this. Worked for me.
For me the best audio player available in an Android device so far is Poweramp.
I have tried the below technique and worked fine for me.
*) Go to Settings -> application Force Close any DSP manager/ volume boost service
*) Go to poweramp Equalizer screen
*) Set Poweramp preamp value to high level
*) Set the preset to Bass and treble.
Now you play a song and check the difference.
Below attached the modified version of DSP Manager.
Feature:
1.More preset in bass boost and virtualizer
2.Set higher frequency in native effect library low pass filter-More bass
3.Tested on Tegra Note 7 Android 4.4.2
Use:
You must unlock bootloader and rooted.
Copy libjamesdsp.so to /system/lib/soundfx (Permission:rw-r--r--)
Copy DSPManager.apk to /system/app/ (Permission:rw-r--r--)
Create /system/vendor/etc directory if not exist. (Permission:rwxr-xr-x)
Copy audio_effects.conf to /system (Permission:rw-r--r--)
I take it this boosts the bass in all apps? does it also boost the volume or has option too?

It is impossible
I don't see any equalizer in android that can support all kind of apps...but most music player is supported like PowerAMP, AOSP Music player, Apollo, etc, because the apps must call the equalizer to make sure the sound route to equalizer and not direct output.
Almost depend on your apps.
If you want to boost volume, you want to turn the volume up by yourself, DRC(Dynamic range compression) can turn the volume up too in DSP Manager, but I remove DRC function in Speaker and Bluetooth tab, it seems not work or sound problem.
What settings for audio do you use?
I use this and I wanna know of there are better settings. Share yours
I use DooMKernel v11 and Faux Sound too

Hi Michael ,
- open Viper4Android -> Menu -> UI Settings -> Expert Mode
- In Master Power section , tick Enable
- In Convolver section , tick enable and choose Impulse Response that you like , I use SPL GoldMike Impulse (you have to download IRS file and import it to Viper4Android - to import copy the IRS file to /internal-storage/Viper4Android/kernel folder)
- List of some IRS sample file (free & paid)
+ http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2442933
- Playback Gain Control section , tick enable , select Moderate Effect Strength , 4x Max Gain
- Fidelity Control Section , enable viper bass , select Natural Bass mode , 40Hz Freq ,6db Bass Boost , enable Viper Clarity , Ozone+ mode , 8db Clarity
I heard Viper4android consumes more battery, but is it a lot or not even noticeable?

I'm using viper4android just with noice cancelling headset. I'll share my settings if anyone want to try.
I'm using Exiztenz 3.1.5 as my ROM...
My music player is PowerAMP > I set the equalizer to "Rock" > the the bass knob 1 third up and the treble 2 thirds up.
I use Sony stock audio settings > sound effects > equalizer on "Heavy" > headphone settings on Studio > Headphones as STH-30.
Then i use skull candy "smokin buds" as my headset.
Great for my liking, i only listen to EDM and Hip Hop
Does viper4android works on stock rooted .402?

yeah.. same here.. Viper makes the phone sound louder but, stock config sound just way better and clean.. People often confuse "Good Quality" with "More Volume"
Thanks for yours replies, but what configuration do you use on Sound Effects?
Is there any way to adjust phone speakers' volumes seperately? My top speaker is louder than bottom speaker. And call sound is low.
Introducing LiveBass HiFi...
Deep punchy bass and crisp highs. Realistic environments. Enhances low quality audio files.
Available in Concert, Studio, and Pro (my signature effect) for phone speakers, earbuds, and headphones.
Tweaks may be necessary for optimal sound for your listening device and audio player.
I created the profiles for the devices listed below, but any rooted device with ViPER Audio can use them.
Concert- Loud with extreme punchy bass and some reverb.
Studio- Sounds like a recording studio, minimal reverb.
Pro- Loud with punchy bass and optimal reverb.
Supported Devices:
Any rooted device with ViPER Audio.
Special Supported Audio Players (The players I used in the creation of FS LiveBass HiFi):
Coolpad Arise 5560S - This is a cheap good stock android phone. It is rootable and has a 1.2GHz Dual Core CPU and 512mb of ram. Costs $20 at your local Kroger, Dillon's, or Gerbe's grocery store.
Samsung Galaxy Centura - This is a common android Straight Talk or Tracfone phone. You can get a refurbished one for around $10. It is also rootable.
Moto E LTE (Surnia)
Special Supported Listening Devices (The listening devices I used in the creation of FS LiveBass HiFi):
JVC Riptidz HAFX8B
Nakamichi 780M
Nakamichi NC40
Koss Plugs
Kinivo BTH240
*A Timex Alarm Clock* (Used for bluetooth speaker, so the sound may not be the best for a normal BT Speaker)

Root ---> Lookup how to root you device on Google as this process can vary.
ViPER Audio Available here ---> http://vipersaudio.com/blog/

The devices in the list are the ones I have. My profiles may sound different on your devices. If you don't like it, you can change the settings. For you, I would recommend changing to Master Gain (Limiter) output gain to a lower setting, and have playback gain control off along with extra loud off.

No DDC's yet. Sorry, been kinda busy.
V3 is here! More audio profiles, add support for Moto E and JVC Xtreme Xplosives, more convolvers (not mine), and more!
A reminder to all: any profile can be tweaked. So blowing up your stuff is your fault, not mine. *This is your disclaimer*
No DDCs yet, I'll be leaving for the U.S.A.F. BMT on April 10th. I'll be be getting better equipment as well (likely toward the end of this year or early next year), it's going to be at least $5k.
Also I have a new music streaming service coming... it will be live after I get back from the military and set it up (could be a year as Cyber Transport has 8 months of training). You can try the service until it goes down on April 10th at audify.cf/audify

.-. ummmmm. Okay, if you say so.
hi, I found sound volume is too low for speaker on this phone. I got G4 which sound pretty good for my like.
My solution at the moment is use App "Volume boost GOODEV" from play store to boost the volume. I found you can boost 30-40% if set it to 50% or over sound start to crack and lose quality.
Do we have any mode for sound for device use SD820/821 anyone? thanks

Which dolby atmos we can enable volume leveller for this phone? Can you share the link to download?
The dolby I mentioned didn't work. For the moment with stock rom I use app "Volume booster Gooddev" it helps
I recommend Viper4Android for that, it has a setting called Cloud and it's an adjustable boost. Also there's a decibel boost systemwide. I found that Arise's works best and the Aroma installer flashable zip works best. Make sure to click the option to remove music FX so all volumes route through it and also let it set permissive mode. Like to use the EQ to cut out the low bass that a tiny phone speaker can't reproduce, pretty much anything under 150hz or so.

I use stock dolby atmos. If by any chance u have problem accessing the dolby control panel,
Download Anycut from playstore. Inside the app tap new shortcut - activity - dolby - ok.
Then u can access the dolby control panel from your homescreen.
Turn on dolby and tap any preset that u like. Tap the same preset and edit as u want.
