My power button has been getting stuck for the past week or so where if I press the button, it will stay pressed until I flex the phone a tad or gently tap part of the phone. This generally leads to have an endless bootloop caused by the power button always being pressed.
The button itself doesnt seem too bent or anything. I've also tried cleaning it incase its just being sticky. But that didn't work.
Ideas?
I fixed this problem but using a knife to slightly bent the metal around the power button away from the power button with a knife.

After getting a bit wet, Green Call button = Volum up & Red End button = Volume down
My phone had a plastic rubber casing around the phone, but i dropped it while brushing my teeth. The phone worked fine for a couple hours, but then it was stuck on the volume screen. Taking the battery out and putting it back in only made the phone reboot without me turning the power on to reboot, and it was stuck on the volume screen, volume going up/down, up/down...
I cleaned off the PCB motherboard and air dried it, the phone works fine except evertime I press the green button for call, it flashes the volume screen (so cannot effectively call a number i have typed in (but can call contacts)) the red 'end' button will not exit programs, as it brings up the volume screen too...
Any suggestions? I'm in China, going to a dealership will be hasslesome and pointless... they suck
well you can remap the keys to other keys for example you can end calls when holding the camera button
i just bought a used Droid incredible and i have had it for about 3 days and i have noticed something about the power button at the top. the power button doesnt "click" when pushed down like the volume buttons do at the side, it just goes down. its kind of annoying is there a way to fix it or something? are of them like this or is it just mine? if you have a droid incredible can you tell me if the power button clicks like the volume buttons do when you press it or does it stick like mine?
The power button does feel like the clicks in the volume buttons.
whenever my phone comes in contact with a lot of sand, the power button gets mushy like that. yes its supposed to click like the volume buttons. try cleaning it out and see if it helps
what do i do to clean it out? also is there a way i cant just remove the 4 screws on the back open up my phone and clean the power button from there? i think that would be easier because i can make sure there is nothing stuck down there. but the only problem is the VOID warranty sticket is on one of the screws and i dont want my warrenty to be voided because i just bought this phone.
so does anyone know how i should remove that sticker and put it back on the phone without ruining it?
You can use an exacto knife to peel it off, the topic is in here somewhere

usualy i am good with physical problems like this but i am now forced to make my own thread because i have no idea why my device wont power on.
after opening my blackstone/touch hd to tighten my screws, my power button has stopped working.
(fyi, a screw came loose a while ago near my sim card after dropping my devive so i thought id tighten all my screws while i had my screwdrivers out fixing my cousins phone)
however, without having the plastic power button attatched to the device, i am able to press the actual button with my stylus and make contact with the main button on the motherboard, the device will now power on.
(eliminating that the actual button to power on is broken)
but, when i attatch the plastic button and press it to power on the device, it doesnt make contact with the actual button inside on the motherboard.
(not making contact with the button on the motherboard)
i have examined the plastic button, all is intact and i am assembling it to the device correctly.
i have examined the actual power button on the motherboard and that is working perfect.
what the hell is going on?
thanks
Rn
ps, i need my power button
cba putting my stylus in and taking it out whenever my backlight goes off
* if you want a picture of my plastic button, i will dissasemble my device and take a picture.
Pictures ?
I replaced the digitezer and the back button (and sometimes the menu button, but mostly the back button) keeps pressing itself.
I get the heptic feedback as if I pressed the button, but I never did.
I took another look at my installation and everything looks good. I added some electric tape between the cables for the back and menu buttons to prevent shorting, I run a factory reset on the phone but the issue remains.
Does anyone know how to fix it?
I'm running android 5.0.1
Wow guys, talk about cheap hardware.
My volume up key is sunken down in so far that I can't press it. Volume down worked, until I just pressed it down again and the whole button is subsurface. Yay.
Here's a photo with the volume up side stuck below.
I'll try to pop it out with a screwdriver.
Update:
I removed the rear case all the way, then pushed the buttons into the case, using duct tape to keep them from falling out. Then I snapped the case back on.
Here are photos. One shows the buttons, and the other is of the tablet internals, in case anyone wanted to see...
