VillainROM 1.0 for the Samsung Galaxy Ace
As I have mentioned previously, this isn’t the magical custom ROM you have all been waiting for, YET. It’s a base that I have created in order for me to work on over the next few days/weeks/months. As I have said a few times now, don’t expect it to be HUGELY different to stock KPE at this stage.
- Based on Samsung’s XXPE Gingerbread build
- Pre-rooted with Superuser installed
- De-odexed (improving free space on /system)
- All APKs PNG optimized and zip-aligned
- A few minor tweaks which should improve free memory – please let me know
- Full battery alert removed (no more 3am wake ups!)
- Added GenieWidget (News and Weather)
- Added Gallery3D
- Added Stock Gingerbread Launcher and REMOVED TouchWizLauncher.apk
- Menu key will now unlock the phone on the lock screen
- SOME bloatware removed
- Huge APN list
- Annoying boot sound removed
- Light weight – stripped down the build a bit without losing functionality
See.. as I said, it’s lightweight and just a base at this stage. My work will continue over the next couple of weeks, so expect to see (COMING SOON):
- Custom OC/UV kernel
- ClockWorkMod Recovery
- Add advanced power menu options (Reboot, Recovery, Download and Wipe Data (+ confirmation)
- 2.3.4 additions
Please use this thread for any requests you may have regarding this ROM in the following thread. Please don’t spam it, this is purely for requests only. I will look into each request and let you know if/when it will be implemented.
Instructions:
RECOMMENDED BEFORE YOU BEGIN:
Perform a full wipe of data/cache. Dial *#*#7780#*#* from your current ROM, and this will wipe data and perform a factory reset.
1. Download the zip file from the bottom of this thread and extract it
2. Boot your phone into download mode, and connect it to the PC
3. Open ODIN – you should see a COM port in yellow.
4. Click Ops and select Cooper
5. Click Boot and select APB_Bootxxxx.tar (not necessary if coming from KPE)
6. Click Phone and select Modem_xxxxx.tar (not necessary if coming from KPE)
7. Click PDA and select AceVR.tar.md5
IGNORE THE 2 POP-UP ERROR MESSAGES ABOUT INVALID BINARY – THIS IS NORMAL.
8. Once complete, the phone will reboot.
Now, please post any opinions, comments or feedback in this thread, and any requests here.

2. No I didn't but if you could link the post for me I will happily include it as an option
3. Wifi driver stops responding with certain SD cards - it doesn't seem to affect me with most of my SD cards, but I don't use this phone as a daily - I work full time in Android and have access to most android phones. I just felt sorry for you guys having no ROM and support whatsoever.
There's also quite a lot of you that own the phone, so it's crazy that not many have picked it up yet from a development perspective.
Anyway, I'll try to get you to a level that you're happy with (custom kernels, CWM, and a rom or two), then I'll move along.
Hopefully, by then, many of you guys will start experimenting with ROMs yourself. It becomes a lot easier when you've got a custom recovery image in place!

I definitely want to start trying to play about with custom ROMs but I'm totally new to Android. So far I've managed to unpack and repack the boot.img in order to modify init.rc but I haven't built anything as such. I'd love to get involved in trying to port CWM to the SGA but I don't know where to start. Happy to help though if I can.

It was agreed on the discussion in the Ace thread that gingerbread launcher would be opted over TW4, nathan prefered GB launcher and even it was seconded by many users.

• First download CodeRom NexusAce rar file package which contains all the essential firmware flashing tools. Please note that after downloading the rar file, you will have to place the file on desktop and then extract the same. Use below link to download.

• Check whether extracted folder contains these key files COPPER, APBOOT, MODEM, CODEROMNEXUS, CSC and of course ODIN Multi Downloader v4.38
• Open the Odin Multi downloader v 4.38 file from the extracted files after which you will see that a new window will be popping.
• Now, at this point of time you will have to ensure that the KIES is completely closed and also preferably close all other programs in your computer too so as to ensure that the software update process is not hampered or interrupted in any manner.
• After this you will have to make sure that your phone is turned ON in the download mode, the download mode can be turned ON by pressing Middle Key (OK Key) + Power key and Volume down Key simultaneously before connecting to PC after which the phone will enter in the download mode.
• So, after double checking that the phone has entered in the download mode and connect your phone to your PC, then yellow ID: COM block. Awesome Rom. Just can't get a2sd swap to work. Everytime i click the enable swap, it says "working" and then goes back to off. Any idea why this occurs?

Never done this either, altough the only time I flashed my Ace it was the 2.3.3 update. I used ODIN and removed SIM and the SD card aswell. But it's not a custom ROM so I don't know if it really counts...
How can i fix gps problem,i cant switch on my gps with this rom.

This is my First FULL Loaded ROM Port for our device LAVA IRIS 504 Q :angel:
Presenting latest MIUI V5 for Lava Iris 504Q, its based on latest MIUI Weekly update V5 4.7.11
ROM is butter smooth and NO LAGS at all. I am using for a day and did not find any errors.
Many thanks to Rahul Saud and LAVA IRIS 504Q Devs and Many Many XDA Authors for their articles through which I could do this update
Manage root permissions in Permissions manager, you need to enable so that applications can ask for root access and you can deny/allow based on your preferences.

SIM issue:
If you have two SIMs and you have disabled a SIM, the ROM may report com.android.phone has stopped, the only way is to activate the another SIM.
Some people recomment the data clean for Phone App, but it didnt work for me, but worked when I activated two SIMs.
Other than this, No Major Bugs,
Inform me, if there is any, I shall try to fix it
Note: I am NOT a developer and I also dont OWN this ROM, Other Porting Devs can help to resolve any issues. Just give me some credits as I have burnt midnight oil to make this happen.

Manage root permissions in Permissions manager, you need to enable so that applications can ask for root access and you can deny/allow based on your preferences.

Screen flickers: Disable Auto Brightness, it must help
SIM issue:
If you have two SIMs and you have disabled a SIM, the ROM may report com.android.phone has stopped, the only way is to activate the another SIM.
Some people recomment the data clean for Phone App, but it didnt work for me, but worked when I activated two SIMs.
Other than this, No Major Bugs,
Inform me, if there is any, I shall try to fix it
Note: I am NOT a developer and I also dont OWN this ROM, Other Porting Devs can help to resolve any issues. Just give me some credits as I have burnt midnight oil to make this happen.
Installation :
**Copy zip file SD CARD OR Phone Memory
**Reboot into recovery
**Wipe data/factory reset
**Wipe cache partition
**Wipe DALVIK cache
**Wipe system
**Select zip from SD card and install

Did you "Clean Install" the ROM? Follow the steps like wiping out everything and then do a installation. This should work. Please try and revert.

Dial *#*#4636*#*#
Click Phone information
Ensure the IMEI at the the top of the screen does display IMEI number of your phone
ensure the following parameters set [do not change anything, if you donno what you doing, please]
ensure "set Preferred network type" is equal to WCDMA Preferred
ensure "Turn off radio" is not enabled, if it is enabled, disable it
ensure "Turn on IMS registration required" is disabled, if it enabled, disable it

Yes, I have nova launcher through which i could see the icons for calendar and weather. the primary launcher did not show these items. may be i need to edit the apk... will try.... and revert ...

just install any miui theme or strip a default.mtz from a miui rom and install the same and apply, this problem is resolved. i dont have this problem now.
btw, the miui rom is the best ever fastets rom i have seen workinf for lava iris 504q with many features
hi..i cannot find the link for 4.8.1 full version ROM. the first link[g-drive] is for 4.7.1.
BTW hve to agree that of all the roms i hve used the miui v5 is the best.

MIUI V6 is on the way ....
Very good rom... But my phone memory is getting detected as memory card. Even after going into stock setting options and changing the default memory does not make any difference.is there any way to fix this problem ??

Thank you for such wonderful ROM, I've always been fan of MIUI
One Issue with the ROM.. the Internal and SD Card are been swapped and creating problem, request you to please provide some solution or will need to be back on my previous ROM.

Force Root - If some old application doesn't working (not asking for root access), you can apply Force root to fix issue (Probable) For this, you must have already applied essential Fix
after that long press on 'Apply essential fix' and reboot device. Now those app should run normally.

Installation Instructions :
- Download Odin 3.12.3 or higher
- First you need to Flash Bootloader and Modem for PH6. If you already having a ROM running on PH6/7 then skip this step.
In case you are on Old version, Download N930FD_PH6_Bootloader and Modem zip, extract it and Flash BL*.tar.md5 file with Ap tab and Phone*.tar.md5 file with Phone tab of odin. This file is for N930FD and in case you have different variant, kindly update your base first with OTA/Full ROM flashing.
- Next you required id TWRP recovery. If you already have one then skip this, otherwise download twrp-3.0.2-0-gracelte.img.tar and flash using Odin. In case Odin Fail during flash, reboot to recovery - wipe cache and try again. Here is original thread for TWRP support.
- Once you have TWRP Installed Download ROM and copy on SD card or USB OTG device.
- Reboot to recovery (TWRP) - I recommend clean install. Select to format device.
- Select to Install - select storage (Where you copied ROM zip) - navigate ROM zip and select it.
- It may take few minutes to finish
- Reboot and again wait for few minutes till android wizard starts

I know but do give multiple tries. It's time consuming but sure it will be success. And if u need offical firmware latest one BH6 XSG i have with m can upload on gdrive.

No. I believe H7 is 20MB and just security update only.

Google already announced a very early Android R Developer Preview I for Pixel and Essential devices. But no need to worry because our beloved device which is MI 8 SE a.k.a Sirus is able to try Android R with almost no major bugs All you need to do is just drinking a cup of coffee plus your big effort to read the whole steps that I'll provide to y'all bellow.
CAUTION: I AIN'T RESPONSIBLE IN ANYTHING IF SOMETHING GOES WRONG WITH YOUR PHONE :good:
Bugs ATM:
- Hotspot is completely dead (GSI SIDE ISSUE)
- Some apps on Play Store do not appear such as Telegram, Instagram, and so on
- And many other minor bugs that do not affect our daily use
Files:
- PBRP as recovery
MOD EDIT: Telegram link removed, please read the STICKY!
- Pixel port GSI by Erfan
- Fix brightness issue
- Fix notch
- Fix system UI freeze and lag as hell

Steps:
1. I assume that you already installed PBRP. If yes, reboot to recovery first by pressing & holding the volume up and power off buttons together and if it's vibrate, take it off!
2. Format data then reboot to recovery.
3. Clear all except system, USB OTG, & SD Card.
4. Go to install section, then flash the vendor above. Please wait 'till the process is done.
5. After that, go to mount section, then checklist all of them.
6. Next, go to install section and press install image then choose the GSI file by Erfan then flash as system image.
7. Flash fix system UI crash and lag file and fix play store issue file.
8. Then move the fix notch file to /system/system/product/overlay by using TWRP file manager.
9. Remove EuiccGoogle on /system/system/product/priv-app.
10. Finally, reboot to system and thanks me later :fingers-crossed:
NOTES:
- TO HAVE ROOT ACCESS, PLEASE FLASH MOD EDIT: Telegram link removed, please read the STICKY! THROUGH RECOVERY. THIS ZIP FILE INCLUDES SU, PHH-SU, and SUPERUSER.APK.
- AFTER FIRST BOOT, YOU CAN ALSO FLASH MOD EDIT: Telegram link removed, please read the STICKY! BUT REMEMBER AFTER FIRST BOOT! YOU CAN ALSO IMPLEMENT F2FS (WHAT'S ACTUALLY F2FS?) IN INSTALLING THIS GSI BY FOLLOWINGMOD EDIT: Telegram link removed, please read the STICKY! !
