Hey all.
It's the second time my battery has been drained from 50%+ to 0 in about 12min . It happens when I stream music over google play app and Bluetooth. Something I have been doing plenty times over and over again. I'm on NBD91K Build . Rooted. Anyone else?
My gf reports that her N6p, NBD90X (at&t), has died on numerous accounts in the past month where she would have 25-40% remaining battery life and then went to 0. Battery usage graph would show the severe and sudden drop in percentage. Haven't found a real solution at this time.
Yes, I noticed similar issue couple of days back with play music when connected to car Bluetooth. I played music for around ten minutes and saw that play music had taken 12℅ of battery.
I am on 7.1.1 DP2

Don't leave your earphone plug if you don't use.even it is ideal mode and all WI-FI,bluetooth...3G off it still suck your battery....
I've had something weird come to my attention recently. My battery used to last about 10-12hrs per charge, then someone suggested Juice Defender, so I tried that, and whilst it gave a slight miniscule improvement, it also froze my wifi; so uninstalled. Post un-installation my battery life was now 12-14hrs on average.
Then just the other day, whilst listening to music via bluetooth, the whole left-hand side of the touchscreen failed (making it virtually impossible to unlock the screen!), which then increased until just a sliver of the screen was working. Now, although I had seen the option previously, I went thru Dell support to the boot screen in order to recalibrate the screen; which got it working again (and to my impression, much smoother). Now, a couple of days later, in the early hours of the morning I noticed that I had not heard the notification that my battery was low, upon checking the batt icon I saw that battery life was still at 39% but on checking the batt usage i saw that it had been running for over 16hrs, and this with fairly moderate use:
Continuous 3G
Bluetooth music: 1hr
Widgets -
BBC News
Engadget
3G watchdog
Wikidroid/tude
Weather widget2: Running constantly
Messaging
Book reader
Gameplaying: 30mins+
Web-browsing/marketplace downloads
Email
Anyone tried this before? Or do most of you normally average over 20hrs+ on a single charge?
(Oh, and I'm running Eclair v2.1 beta!)
hi,
galaxy note 3 here with crash rom and rather good battery life - i'm a battery life junkie
actually I don't have a problem, i just want to understand something.
many people posting problems about mediaserver and mediascan draining their batteries. first of all i think many users dont undertsand that the 2 processes are different, but thats another story.
IN FACT, whenever i play may mp3s/Flacs with poweramp, my batterystats are showing a very high percentage of MEDIASERVER. after 3 hours of playing songs with screen OFF, the percentage is even higher than 4 hours of screentime with other apps! i was very afraid, but then i found out that the truth is, that 1 hour of audio playback with screen off, takes just 3% of battery. and even background playback with screen ON, takes just 10% of power per hour. thats quit good.
In the screenshots you can see 48% when starting playback, and after 1hour of playback with screen off, its at 45%.
in the BBS screen shot you can see that audioout2/mediaserver is keeping my device awake for the whole hour, which is somehow frightening, but maybe normal and as said, doesnt affect so much the battery life...
WHY is the percentage of mediaserver in the android batterystats THAT high than?
some may say its not a big deal and that i should be happy with my battery life. well, i AM, but i just want to understand....
Hi, I have FINALLY found a solution for the bug of mediaserver process with Poweramp. With the fade option enabled, mediaserver process starts when i change song while with crossfade option disabled the process stop.
Hi guys,
I have read countless threads on battery life & wake locks on XDA, Reddit, etc. Trying to find a solution to what I still find the Achilles heel of android, wake locks.
I am running stock on MHC19Q build
Adaptive brightness off
Wifi scanning off
Bluetooth scanning off
Battery Optimization on all apps except for DMService and Google Play Services
Some days I will go 2-3 hours with 30 minutes SOT and my battery only drops 10%. Doze works as it should. I will get through a full day at about 4 hours SOT (6am to 10pm).
On other days (like today) I am unplugged for 3 hours at 80% with 10 min SOT. I have rebooted the device 3 times since unplugging it and my wake locks are still occurring. My signal is perfect green through and through. Bluetooth off and connected to wifi.
I find the issue comes and goes. Some days the phone will start out great, only to have wake locks start occurring mid day. I think Android OS appears to be the issue.
Anyone else encountering wake locks that come and go?
Any help would be greatly appreciated! :victory:

Absolutely same situation. No new application in monthes.
Google play services is usually the battery waster I found when moving around, I tend to place phone down when I can to save juice but you really need to identify your wakelocks first. I'm rooted and use bbs.
Disabling location may help, if rooted and using xposed, amplify may help too.
Google play services get updated when it's pushed out, sometimes it has bugs.
Maybe if you haven't updated any of your apps for months, then possibly one may need updating now.
Ive had my phone for 3 weeks and its been rooted since day one. I use my phone in the same way day to day but my battery is over the place. Yest i had it off charger for 15 hours and i had 6 hours of sot with 5% left. Today its been off charger since 730. All i did was stream music to my blue tooth headphones for 30 min and battery is down to 75%. Screen was off so was wifi and gps. Anyone else have this problem?

Messenger is your problem if you weren't using it. Was there an update to it recently? My GF complained of battery drain on her G5 this morning and messenger was running crazy.
Wouldn't I have awful battery everyday than? I have bad day followed by Good day.
There is another thread here. A few of us are expecting this lately. And I think it's safe to conclude that Facebook is the one responsible for these battery drain. Try uninstalling and disabling it. Both Facebook and FB messenger.
I uninstalled it and recharged. I'm still losing crazy amounts of battery. I lost 10% in an hr with the phone sitting in my pocket and now the screen won't rotate anymore.
on the tmo/918 variant and experienced this as well starting this morning - slow charging, high battery drain, phone being overly hot. uninstalled both FB and messenger, cleared cache, and so far things seem to be back to normal...
Hey.
Has anyone else noticed this - very high GPS drain after updating to the AQI7 update? I am on the European Exynos model and usually GPS is sitting at 1-3% usage at most after a normal day. Today it's closer to 10% with almost 300mah drained within 10 hours. That's more than half of my screen time usage.
Going through Better Battery Stats, I saw that *net_scheduler* with Google Services under it was forcing about 2000 wakelocks in the span of 2 hours. Sometimes it appears under another app name, but after the update it seems to have risen up extremely high and is likely causing the drain as the system shows GPS to be 2nd in battery stats.
I tried wiping delvik cache, system cache from settings, re-logging from google accounts, re-installing the google play services updates, and even enrolled in the GPS beta and am now using it. The phone is charging now and I will see if the problem continues in the next few hours.
If it does, I wonder if there is anything else I can do about it other than factory reset? I don't want to go there, but I definitely will if need be.
It's so tiring to see this issue pop-up on all Android devices I have had so far after 5.0 came out. It's like a plague that cannot be avoided with any device...
Did this happen to anyone else after the last update, or is it just me for some interesting reason?
Thanks for reading.
same problem here
OK, after the last full charge the phone is behaving quite well and now indicates 94% deep sleep, which is not bad at all.
What might have done it is switching to Google Play Services BETA. If you cannot find it in play store, use this link: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.gms
Scroll down and enroll in the beta. Check the link again after a few minutes and hit the Update button. Charge your phone and see how it does.
I will have to observe how drain goes over the day tomorrow, but for now with 4g and wifi on at my home, I have 2% drain over 3 hours and a bit over. Wakelocks still occur but they are in the 0-1% range of waking up in this period of time, compared to the 6-7-8% of the net_scheduler wakelock from GPS the previous day. If it stays like this I think the problem could be marked as solved.
Update: After last night: https://drive.google.com/open?id=0Bwg-0GLG0gP9NDJQd2NYSkZ3V0U
About 2% of the drain was lost during me sleeping with WiFi and LTE on. Maybe GPS beta really sealed the deal.
