:HUAWEI ASCEND XT:
So far we have the following for this phone:
Bootloader Unlock: https://hwid5.vmall.com/CAS/portal/loginAuth.html?lang=en-us&validated=true&themeName=red&service=http%3A%2F%2Femui.huawei.com%2Fen%2Fplugin%2Fhwlogin%2Fvalidate%3Fru%3Dhttp%253A%252F%252Femui.huawei.com%252Fen&loginChannel=22000000&reqClientType=2023
Sources: As of now Huawei have not released sources yet for this phone.
Root: As of now no root
Twrp: As of now no twrp
Custom Rom: As of now no custom rom
We are already over the big hurdle by having access to the bootloader and fastboot commands. All we need now is sources and we can start with twrp and root. Then hopefully a custom rom!

I've done all the necessary steps except In fastboot mode when I type the command it says waiting for device. I can send adb commands all I want when the device is booted on the OS. I have selected USB debugging, I have enabled oem unlock and retrieved my unlock code.

I had this problem too. It was my version of fastboot on my Windows device - something was old and out of date. Solved it by running "./fastboot oem unlock CODE" on my mac. My understanding was that I could have done it on the windows machine with a newer fastboot, though.
Maybe try the latest version of minimal adb fastboot from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2317790
I have to no avail. I'm also on win 10 pro

I was having that same issue and I don't really know how I fixed it. I uninstalled my phone drives downloaded Android SDK and installed the program the link gave and it worked after that. Not sure what really fixed it. I thought it was allowing OEM to be unlocked. Maybe that's not what fixed it. I was on Windows 10 BTW
Thanks for testing guys! Hope we can get root soon so the bloatware can be uninstalled and free up some space. Then maybe a custom ROM will come around

For that, you need to get into bootloader. Using fastboot, issue the command:
fastboot oem lock
But, one more thing - before you try this, are you able to get into your phone at all? Have you tried the factory reset in settings? If possible, try that first, before you lock your bootloader & run RUU.
If you do run RUU, after your system has become stable, to unlock it back, follow the instructions in "Unlock Bootloader" in htcdev.com

OK, so my phone works fine, and I can boot into recovery now, but it's CWM. If I do a factory reset will it get rid of CWM? Because that sounds much easier. Also, I'm not rooted yet.

If I use that, do I need to put it on the phone or do I just run it from the computer?
Thanks again for all your help.

If it is CWM that you are running, no way you are going to get the latest HTC DE update. If you want the latest HTC DE update, you are going to have to wipe out everything and put in stock.
For bringing your phone back to stock:
1. Download the RUU.exe file onto your windows computer.
2. I am assuming here that you have all the latest USB drivers installed on your windows computer. I am also assuming that you are able to get to the fastboot prompt and are able to see your device in your windows computer.
3. To check if your device is visible in windows, issue the command fastboot devices while in the fastboot prompt. To get to the fastboot prompt, keeping the volume down button pressed, press & hold the power button and do not let go until you see the fastboot screen. Then issue the above command.
4. Then issue the command fastboot oem lock. This will lock your bootloader.
5. Next reboot back into bootloader
6. Then run the RUU file from your windows pc and follow the instructions on screen.
Since I have to say this, I'm saying this:
As always, back up all your data. And do so all this at your risk. Make sure you read the various related posts and understand what your are doing. If you brick your phone, I am not to be held responsible.
There - having said all this, I think you should be okay. Good luck.

Very strange as there is the "small" update from .16 to .17 first. And this one is out since a long time. Honestly when the CID and the rom version is correct I have no idea why it doesn't want to update. But there is always a strange logic how the auto-update works.

No way. Unlocking wipes the device, but rooting doesnt. I plan to unlock mine the second I get it. That way I can start loading data and stuff onto it and start using it. Then, when root is available, I don't have to wipe my data at that point to do it becuase I was already proactive about unlocking the bootloader.

If you're on Windows, it could be a driver problem. You can check on it in Windows device manager. If you need to install the driver, Open the Android SDK manager and make sure the USB driver is installed, and install any available updates. If that doesn't work, you can find the Google nexus USB driver by itself and install it using the windows device manager. You can search for the relevant step by step guides here on the forum or elsewhere online.

But you'll have to reinstall everything when you unlock the bootloader. I know its not hard to do with ADB, but I don't understand why you'd bother backing up and restoring everything when you can just unlock the bootloader right away and save yourself from wiping to root once you're already established on the device. Well, to each his own I guess.

Also, I had made both $0.99 purchases within the DC-Unlocker Android app which gave me a User and Password in an email that I was able to input into the Server section of the Windows DC-Unlocker app under Unlock which may have helped.
Once the device is found in the lower left, choose Read Bootloader Code and DO NOT select Unlock in the upper right. Paste the Bootloader Code at the end of your "fastboot oem unlock xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx"

Problem solved. I installed Huawei driver pack, then its not enough. I installed HiSuite (android device manager+driver), then the DC-Unlocker working fine, found my phone, and get code. Thx for your help.

You can use the twrp for L09 and flash SuperSU 2.76 after unlocking bootloader. It works. I just had issues trying to backup a ROM.
Does anyone know how to root the ZTE Maven 3 (z835)?
Need the same info.
Looking for a root confirmation for either this ZTE Maven 3 (z835) or Pixi Avion (STALA570BGP4P) both under $30 android phones I want to use as sort of an iPod touch alternative.
Can't find solid info on either one.
Bootloader unlock
I just want to unlock the bootloader I want to Port a rom to this device
I think there is some new protection they added to prevent developer mode the usual way. When I tap the build number several times, I get this big N in the middle of the screen.

Have you tried the old write protection method yet?
---------- Post added at 05:33 PM ---------- Previous post was at 05:29 PM ----------
Run this command in adb shell or terminal
Adb reboot disemmcwp
status update
Any updates on this? Did the adb reboot disemmcpw command work?
Idk I don't have a computer I've seen that command on a couple forums so I thought someone could try it out it is to disable write protection

Not sure - I think this is useful to gain root persistence from what I'm reading. ADB and root tools (like kingroot on pc/android) don't have any more permissions than they did before. We need to somehow exploit FTM or EDL mode for unlocked bootloader, like how the Axon 7 was unlocked. I don't think we'll have any luck with regular userland exploits on Android 7.1.1 with July security update...

Yeah the axon 7 was great to root with exploits I wish so i wish someone had a bunch of free time to make one for this phone
Whatever you guys want me to install on this phone; I'll be happy to. A year ago I got the Alcatel Ideal 4060a for $10 on Black Friday, unlocked it for free right away, (this was before AT&T required 6 months of active service to unlock) and now "that" phone is rooted, has it's own TWRP recovery, there's a Custom Rom for it on XDA, etc.
1 year later, I picked up this ZTE Maven 3 on Black Friday for $8, unlocked it for $1.70 online. I hope the similarities don't end there. These phones are great casting devices.
The ideal was a great phone but this zte is stubborn try the write protect command with king root on the first post in this

Disabling system write protection before rooting didn't wok. The Maven 3 is recognized by ADB just fine, reboots fine after "Adb reboot disemmcwp", Kingo ROOT completes the root-check to 100%, but it shows the dreaded "ROOT Failed" message.
word?
I have 2 of these sitting on my desk, unopened.
Would like to put in service, but not on AT&T rapine.
Try putting the phone in FTM mode and plugging the phone into your PC and run the root program. The only issue with that is it works until the phone is rebooted. That's worked on other ZTE phones I've had. I haven't seen a stable solution yet.

That doesn't work either.
If I could just remove those stupid "Play Movies & TV, Play Music, and Gmail" apps I never use, I would be happy. Those apps alone take up around 200mb of storage just being installed, you can't disable them either.
