After the most recent stock update (G930VVRU4API3], WiFi scanning turns itself on every 2-3 seconds. I only noticed this because it prevented me from being able to use my stock hotspot. After much frusteration, I just turned off WiFi Scanning.
Today I read that other people were having the same issue because of the latest version of the Android Wear app. I had previously downloaded Android Wear companion app Version 2.0.xxxx, but quickly reverted back to 1.5.xxxx due to bugs. I reverted prior to receiving the most recent phone update which leads me to believe it's a phone issue. Can anyone else confirm that this is a known issue?

I have the same problem. I would like to keep wifi scanning on for Tasker location purposes. It seems like it just toggles on and off every 2 seconds and is shorting out. I'll try to go back a version on Android Wear and see if it helps at all. Have you seen any difference yet?

I just reverted to version 1.5.xxx Android Wear, and no difference. Wifi still shorts out with scanning on. Must be an issue with the OS?
I'm on ape1 and my WiFi also dose it. As far as I know it's always done it. Even with past OS's like 4.x and 5.x.
I never had this issue on this phone before. I've had it on previous phones, but that was due to random software or ROM issues. I'm attributing this to the most recent update. Hopefully Nougat will fix this (whenever that will roll out...)
Are you guys talking about the location always scanning WiFi? You can go to settings -> location -> improve accuracy. Toggle that off and WiFi will stop turning on and off every few seconds.
I know how to turn it on and off, but it doesn't work like any other phone I have had. I came from a droid turbo 2, and it didn't toggle every few seconds, and didn't hurt battery life either. I use this feature for tasker and location related things. Unfortunately, I'm now on the manual beta install of nougat, and the problem is still here... must be a Samsung thing?

Has anyone had any wifi problems, mine was OK yesterday but today it drops the wifi but then joins back as soon as I click the wifi in the notification bar. I'm just thinking if its because my battery is low or is it a common problem.

I've had this issue with a speedtouch router, but didn't have it with a netgear DG834
Does it have full signal?
Yes its full but then just drops altogether. I have charged it now and seems to be OK so not sure if it was because of low bat or mabee just a hiccup

Go to your wireless setting and then click Wi-Fi disconnect policy.
Set it to "never disconnect". You can also set it to Never while plugged in if you have the cable connected. Some routers will have trouble auto-negotiating if your device has a sleep/disconnect policy set.
That or it's some other weird issue like a low battery/wi-fi issue like you said.
I had this happen once while I was using the touchpad to scroll down a website. Was anyone also using the dock touchpad when it happened? I thought I found a gesture that turns off the WiFi. Of course, this has only happened once in about 10 hours of use.

I have dropping wifi issue, and i had to disconnect and connect again without rebooting. This happened since 3.1 update. I think this may be caused by decrease in wifi driver version.
I also posted this issue on another thread (issue with 3.1) and hopefully ASUS rep will see and fix this issue.
Since 3.1 I am also having this issue and its pissing me off Hope for a fix soon.
Now I'm having wifi issues as well... My wifi will automatically turn off... When I tried to re-enable wifi, the wifi setting will say "turning off" and grey out... Only way to recover was to power cycle..
Now I'm starting to worry about 3.1 update... I wish that I can downgrade to 3.0.1 without any major force close issues.
my gf has this issue with her tablet resuming from sleep mode, just throw it in airplane mode, wait 5 secs n turn off airplane mode.
This new-with-3.1 issue has been mentioned in a couple of other threads.
Now... if only we noobs had a clear way of reporting significant bugs (like this!) to the appropriate folks at ASUS.
Yes I have been having the same problem. Just started today.
same to me~~ the wifi keeps dropping randomly, I want a fix!!!
Me too

Ever since 3.1 update, I too have problems with wifi disconnecting. Seems to happen most often after I wake from sleep. I have the wifi set to stay on all the time, doesn't help. After waking from sleep, flipping the wifi off (airplane mode) and on again seems to fix the problem.

i'm havig the same issue, wifi drops, when the tablet is sleeping, I have to discoonnect, then connect again to get it working. Wifi speed also seems slower with 3.1.
Possible Fix
While fiddling with my router I just made the discovery that when changing the channel to 12 or 13, the signal dropped out. Channels 1-11 worked fine. When set to 'auto' detect the signal occasionally drops out. I assume that when on auto it is occasionally accessing channels 12+13 and that is the cause of the problem. So for those having wifi signal problems try setting up a specific channel in your router settings and see if it makes any difference for you. I hadn't any problems before the 3.1 update, but Asus seem to have rolled back the wifi driver, and I guess this has affected a fair few users.
My device is running stock 3.1, never fiddled with the system in terms of rooting, ever. It's a WW sku device.
Obviously this shouldn't happen. And most likely wont affect US users as they don't have these channels. It may not be a fix for you but hopefully it will help someone running a non US build.
Hi Guys
I dunno if I am the only one that is suffering this problem as I haven't seen any posts about it but:
I use 2x Battery to save power over night when I am sleeping, and this turns off Wifi/Bluetooth and GSM/HSPA Data, and periodically will turn them back on every 2 hours to allow my phone to get emails and other notifications.
Since the introduction of Android 4.3 to my device, every couple of days I have to switch my device off and back on again because Wifi refuses to turn on. Exactly the same problem existed in 4.2 but instead with bluetooth refusing to turn on, which I might add has been fixed in 4.3.
Has anyone else experienced this?
Andy
Personnaly, i rather switch wifi and sync off in the night, coz i only have a look at my phone in the morning.
And i can tell that with last update (JR..Y) with data & wifi off, that the battery isn't draining more than 1% in 6 hours.
4.3 included several battery saving optimisation, have a look in the wifi advanced parameters...
Thanks for your input on battery saving methods but I'm trying to resolve a potential software issue with Wifi

Of course. But take care about the compatibility between your battery saver app, and you android's version... JWR66V ? Y ? JSS ?!
Are you sure they are both compatible ?
Did you try to wipe cache & dalvik, and reinstall your app ?
I think that it's your app that's not "aligned" with OS api's.
You can test Snapdragon Battery guru
I use Llama which is a real great app for controlling your phone and it does occur where it will not turn my wifi back on. With all the optimizations with wifi in 4.3 and battery saving I just decided to leave wifi on all the time. So far it has not caused any real noticeable drain maybe an extra 1-2% total
WiFi not turning on after android 4.3 update
Hey guys,
First time poster, long time reader.
Now I've been doing some hard searching on this issue but I don't think this problem has been completely addressed yet (Apologies if it has).
I updated to Android 4.3 today on my Galaxy S3 (GT-I9300). The update seemed like it went smoothly but after it completed I noticed that the WiFi wasn't turned on. Once I click it looks like it loads and after a few seconds just stops. So I simply cannot get the wifi to turn on!!!
I've tried clearing the app cache, and looked at different forums but has anyone else come across this issue?!
Please help!!!
Thanks in Advance.
So, I have been having some extremely frustrating issues with the WiFi on my 6P. I got my phone in January and I have been super happy with it except for this one issue. Since I got it, I was using the stock OS up until the April security patches came out. Before the patches, I had some issues, but the phone was still mostly usable. Especially after that update, however, I have been faced with two very irritating WiFi issues.
When my phone goes to sleep, the WiFi connection inevitably drops out. Sometimes, the WiFi will still be active but not associated, but it will frequently have also switched itself off completely.
I can only stay connected to a network for about 30 seconds tops. The connection will just stall out and then reconnect after several seconds.
In an effort to get better performance, I decided to switch from the stock OS to PureNexus (which I used and loved on my old Nexus 5) and I also flashed the ElementalX kernel. For the first few days, the WiFi performance was rock solid, but slowly it got worse than it was on stock to the point of being unusable now. Now, here's what I have already tried/checked:
The "Keep WiFi awake during sleep" option in the Settings app is DEFINITELY set to Always.
This issue is not specific to any one network. It had occurred on every network that I've used and on 2.4G and 5G networks (although it seems to be worse on 5Ghz)
I tried turning the band selection off Automatic and choosing both 2.4 and 5 only options, both just seemed to make it worse.
I've removed all apps that I installed and checked logcat for any app info that might be related to the issue. All I see is just normal stuff and then BAM! The wifi driver states that it disassociated from the AP.
I tried installing WakeLock to hold WIFI_MODE_FULL at all times. This hasn't made much of a difference with it disassociating while the screen is off.
Has anyone else experienced issues like this? I am to the point now where I might have to send in my phone under the warranty because I don't know if it's just detective hardware or what at this point. The fact that it worked well after a clean install would seem to suggest that it isn't, but the fact that it persisted across two different ROMs suggests that maybe it is.
Either way, I am at a loss and I've exhausted all the diagnostic skill that I have trying to fix this because it's so damn frustrating when you're in the middle of doing something and you can't stay connected for 30 seconds. Any help or ideas would be appreciated immensely!
My issue is the wifi connects but no internet message

Is this with different Access Points or just at a particular wifi spot? I would factory reset the device, reboot your router, make sure you don't have any odd settings on your router like modified channel bandwidth, etc. If the 6p doesn't stay locked on, it's a hardware issue and I would do a warranty claim. My 6p wifi has been money since January with every ROM.
Hello All,
So a few days ago I received an update with Baseband Version N910CXXU1DPI1
After the update completed and the device restarted, I noticed the wifi keeps going on and off on and off if it's not connected to a wifi network. I went to the wifi settings to make sure if any other wifi settings in the advanced menu are ticked and found that nothing is ticked which is good.
The problem disappears only if I restart the phone. Is this a common problem with this update or is it just me?
Thanks
Hi me too, I have similar problem after update to N910UZZH2DPJ2.
When I turn off wifi, the wifi icon in the notification toggle switch on and off automatically, i.e. turn green and grey automatically.
When I go into wifi settings, the switch also turn on and off automatcally non-stop.
They will stop when I connected to wifi.
I have already do a factory reset, it doesn't fix the problem. Any idea how to solve it? Thanks!

I think someone needs to report this to Samsung....I would do so but I'm not sure how. Let's just hope for a small patch that will fix this issue..it's very annoying
Yeah me too, Wiped the cache and still nothing. Wifi keeps randomly restarting off and on until i restart. But the problem comes back after restart................... Can someone Please help us all....
Thanks for the feedback guys. Glad I'm not the only one with this problem. I think I might just flash with Odin to the previous version, or if someone can help us that would be greatly appreciated.
Is there a way we can report this bug to Samsung?
I'm having this issue also. Is this why I'm seeing lots of posts about folk downgrading to 5.1.1; issues with the 6.0.1 roms/basebands? Before I updated my firmware I had the issue reported by another user on here where my WiFi kept turning off immediately after I tried turning it on.

I never had an issue with Marshmallow except for this random wifi on off issue in the latest update. Been on stock rom since I got my phone back in December 2014 !!!
Hey everyone I was able to temporarily fix this issue by turning off wifi scanning in (Settings > Location > Improve Accuracy). I heard somewhere on here it might have been a recent app update that is causing the issue.

Thanks for the tip 93_teg. Going to give this a try and report back.
@93_teg I did your solution and so far it seems to be working. No more Random wifi on off issue, let's hope.
Thanks for the help
@93_teg thank you so much for sorting this out it switches off now without restarting :good::good:
Thank you for the fix, I spent waaaaay too long troubleshooting this issue. I think the next step on my list was sacrificing a lamb but this works too
today's update(N910F PHN) didn't fix it.
it's probably the latest Google play services update that caused it, it received an update shortly after the October security update.

Probably, I seem to have had the issue start same time as everyone else here, and I'm on the t mobile version N910-T, and my last OS update was October 1st
I appreciate your solution, I'd working for me, i start to feel crazy, and I want to sell the phone, but I don't, thanks, sorry by my english

Thanks to all who participated in the thread...greatly appreciated
Workaround
Hello,
I confirm that the issue is due by the Service Google play. The workaround, to stop the Wifi is blinking, is :
Parameters > Applications Manager > choose system applications (Three dots) > select Service Google Play > Stop forced (and possible Stockage and clear cache).
This workaround works after each use of the WiFi.
And now wait a solution from Google (and Samsung may be).
Thanks
when turning my wifi off it seems it goes into some weird loop of turning on and off constantly by itself, it doesn't seem to be trying to connect just flipping the wifi switch on and off none stop.
noticed it because i had a huge battery daring overnight and while trying to fix it i saw the switch going off and on all the time.
when turning it back on it seems to connect normally .
did a network setting rest but it did nothing ...
I'm guessing a factory rest will fix the problem but I'm hoping to avoid such a overkill solution :crying:
does anyone else had this problem and can help me fix it?
thanx!

original samsung rom.
just happened (i have the device for a a while everything was fine) its the android system that drains the battery in the battery status.
when i leave the wifi on it stops and works fine ...
Have you turned off ''Keep Wifi During Sleep''? I know this can drain battery.
It's not so easy to troubleshoot on an orginal none rooted phone.
You can try clearing dalvik and cache.
Turn it off and then on holding power and vol down button, then clear cach/dalvik and restart.
Try uninstall update beaming service for samsung then restart
If still persistent try uninstall update microsoft onedrive and skype then restart, just in case
I found it after factory reset (forgot internal data backup :crying and update all apps, this problem occuring after the last 3 updates (beaming, onedrive, & skype) which more suspect beaming service update make that problem
Your not alone
You're not the only one who suffer from this exact problem, on Friday or Saturday the same problem started occurring with my phone too, WiFi turns on and off in a loop and huge battery drain!
I saw an increase of 6% of battery drain per hour, so I ended up on 9% total drain every hour. :crying:
I have original Samsung Rom and phone worked prefect until now, no settings or apps installed before this happened either.
What rom version are you guys on?
I'm having the same issue. However, I'm on PhoenixX Rom. Major battery killer and has only just started happening within the past few days.
Since my phone has been unplugged, 3 hours ago, looking at BetterBatteryStats, It is showing com.google.android.gms as having quite a LOT of wakeups. 40 per hour (everything else is about 2). Don't know if this is normal as I don't remember it before the Wifi issue.
Looking into what the wake ups are caused from, Location and heartbeat were the major culprits. So i have turned of WIFI scanning when not on and also the body sensors for Google Play. We shall see.

its not a fix at all . it dosnt scan for wifi , just turning it on and off non stop.
like pressing the light switch agin and agin
I had this after installing "GoodLock" software from Samsung! Uninstalled and everything is ok
same here, just noticed I wasnt on Wifi and the switch is just flicking on and off by itself. Standard S7 with all the updates installed
Been struggling with the same for some days (4 - 5) I haven't been able to get exactly whats triggering this. I'm on stock rom with root. I've reinstalled firmware clean again and re downloaded my apps but it is still happening randomly. Some times after a few attempts to switch wifi on (even when it is toggling by itself) it manages to keep on. Sometimes restarting makes it work again. One thing I'm almost certain its that this usually happens after I turn wifi OFF and then try to turn it back on.
It's been crazy and the phone starts to overheat after a while off this on-off loop.
Any ideas?
its very wierd it started to all of us in the past few days-weeks . seems like samsung has a bug they need to hurry up and fix.
AT&T just pushed out the October Security update for the S7 family, I'm guessing something that came along with it is creating the problem.
mine did a software update last week and I've been away in airplane mode so it could have started then. I've just disabled scanning and that seems to have got round the issue and I'm now connected to WifI
I'm not sure whether it is a Samsung Issue or a Third party one... It is true that something recently affected all of us, but as far as I know, it could be a third party app that wasn't well developed for our phone.
I've noticed the same problem on my phone and it's also only started up in the last few days. On stock Sammy rom, unrooted. Will be monitoring this thread to see if the experts here can narrow down the culprit.
I had the same issue and I was able to stop the toggle by turning off the wifi scanning in Location - Improve Accuracy - WiFi scanning. It's a fix for now. I think it may be an app that may have been updates that is persistently looking for location updates.
