App drawer folder behavior is dependent on their name - Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge Questions and Answers

Has anyone else noticed the app drawer folders in the stock ROM behave differently depending on their name?
I noticed it with the Google folder, the + icon that lets you quickly add apps to a folder is disabled for certain words, like Google. You can see the difference in the screenshots where I rename it and the + icon in the bottom right disappears/reappears.
I assume this is standard (if useless and annoying) behavior?

Sort Custom Folder created !!!

Hello,
I am using folders in my home screen for better organization of my apps. before i created 4 folders (utilities, multimedia, internet, games) and manually added program shortcuts inside each category and i was very happy with this. But there were some downsides with this:
1) not fixed sorting method, last to add last in the list
2) when you uninstalled an app its icon was still in the folder
then i read about folder organizer and apps organizer and i tried both but kept folder roganizer cause of more features. This has many advantages over the built in folders you ceate cause:
1) if you uninstall an app its icon is gone
2) you choose how the folder should be sorted and its updated according to this
3) you can remove and re-add the folder without manually adding the programs inside
4) many more
BUT the main downside od Folder Organizer is Performance. with the default folders the scrolling and the opening was blazing fast and smooth. but now with the organizer scrolling through the apps is choppy and the opening sometimes lags. is there a way to speed it up by a setting ????
OR if not possible into the organizer....is there any way to sort the shortcuts i add into the folders i create (using built in method) by name and if i add a new one place it accordingly to its name????

Problem with Apps not showning in app list

Yesterday i noticed a change in DESKTOP VISUALIZER not showing the icon packs any longer. I rooted my phone and all looked OK. I installed CMP player with ASTRO file manager and opened up from within ASTRO and all looked ok. I looked for the CMP icon in the app list and it was not there.
I went to run Titanium backup and the icon was missing from the app list. I went to the market, uninstalled it and installed it again and the icon was still missing from the app list.
Does anyone have any idea what happened or how to fix?
thanks
By chance are you running Launcher Pro? If so, check to make sure it is not a "hidden app" there. I was missing the Music icon and found it was hidden there.
launcher pro
Yes I am running launcher pro. There is nothing checked in hidden apps. HOWEVER I did find the CONNECTED MUSIC PLAYER icon in the app list. I found it when i noticed there were 2 identical "MUSIC" icons in the list. The second icon was the newly installed app. BUT, Titanium backup is still not there. The only thing i can think of is i installed Titanium before I rooted the phone though I did not run anything in the program. I'll try uninstalling it again and rebooting the phone and reinstall. The icon packs are still not showing in DESTOP VISUALIZER.
Try toggling the option to show hidden apps... unless the apps you're looking for do show up in the "hide" list, and are unchecked.
oops
End of Flesh......this is embarassing......I installed the PRO version (key) of titanitum without installing the program itself which is why there was no icon...
I can be dumb sometimes ((((
However, the original problem still exists. Desktop Visualizer allows you to chose an application to put on your homescreen, then allows you to choose an icon to use with the app. It gives you 3 choices of where to get your icons: Image File, App Icon, or Icon Pack. Previously when i choose Icon Pack, about 15 of my installed apps came up in the list. When i choose one of those apps, a window would open showing me a picuture of icons that particular app draws on. I simply selected one of the icons and it was associated with the app i had chosen. Now when I select Icon Pack, i get a message saying no icon packs are installed, which is true, but something changed since those apps using their own icon packs no longer appear. I got some pretty neat icons that way, but am hoping nothing got messed up somewhere along the line. I didn't un-install anything or do anything out of the ordinary that i can remember.
Anyway, thanks for your help...greatly appreciated.

[Q] Help with removing Widgets

I've been using Zeam 2.8.8 as my desktop launcher and think it's great for our Nooks. I am having a problem when trying to remove large widgets, i.e 4x2, 2x3. I long press the widget and drag it to the trash can, I'm not that stupid, but when it's in the right spot the widget and trashcan are supposed to both turn red. Problem is on a grayscale like Nook there is no visiable change in color. Is there an app I can use to remove the widget? I've been looking for an app the past three days but not lucky. I also am using ES File manager which allow sys access. Is the wedget listed somewhere in the system files so I can delete it? Go Launcher is more better in terms of widget removal.

Anyone know how to change the chrome app tile?

So I found out how to change the tiles for the actual apps, not talking about oblytile, but for actual apps. The chrome app installs as a third party app and does not install in the normal C:\Program Files\WindowsApps folder. It installs like chrome normally installs in appdata as I can tell.
The chrome app uses an ugly normal ico icon. And I can't figure out how to change it to use a png like most apps use. Has anyone been able to figure out how to add a png icon to the chrome app?

[Q] Google apps folder

Hi.
Just got a Nexus 4 after some thieving Spanish barstewards stole my Note 2. Loving the phone so far.
Quick question. Can you add to the Google apps folder on the home screen that is there when you first start it up? I know you can delete from it as I deleted the Youtube widget, but I wanted to add the Google Now widget but when I try to add it as if it was a folder it doesn't work.
Is it just not possible?

Click to collapse
Guess I'm not following what you mean exactly by folder?
Are you using the stock launcher or another launcher (ie: apex, nova, etc) .
Normally to add a widget you would simply long-press the home screen, select widgets, and pick that, and should show up as a widget, if you're creating a folder you're probably dragging the app icon onto something else.
Yeah, I thought I wasn't explaining myself very well.
It's stock launcher. On the home screen, when you first set up the phone, there is a widget/folder titled "Google" which is effectively a folder containing the widgets for various Google apps ie Gmail, Google+, maps etc. I wondered whether it is possible to add to this folder (for want of a better word). If I try to drag a widget over it that doesn't work.
Hope that's a bit clearer.
Don't worry - sorted it.
