Anyone know this WMJX HU? MCU-KYD(7703)-* - Android Head-Units

I bought it from taobao.com last month, branded WMJX, but without any information on the body.
9" / Android 5.1.1 / Intel Quad Core, (must be Sofia) / 1G RAM / 16G ROM / Bluetooth 4.* / AUX FM AV-in...
I read from SETTING/HU INFO, The MCU version is : KYD_(7730)_90_C9_V1.00_CAN(FORD0)
I can only input digi number at the password of factory recovery...
and KingRoot cannot root it...
Does anyone know about this HU? plz give me some advice~THX!!

Looking to your mcu code it seems similar to joying intel ones.
Check the corresponding thread for intel units and look for the instructions of rooting for the joying Intel models
Enviado desde mi D6603 mediante Tapatalk

The MCU line says "7703" emphasized in brackets. It also does NOT say 5009 as the Joying units have, so I would NOT make the assumption that it is an FYT5009 based unit.
I wouldn't go near ANYTHING with kingroot -- you can't tell what that thing is going to add to your system to track or spam you.
You can try adb root on it, in case it already has root enabled.
It would be very helpful to get some pictures of the INSIDE of it. Outside pictures are mostly useless. The only thing those pictures say, really, is that it is not really intended for export. The units that are intended for export from China have their labels in *english*.

thanks! ikerg and doitright
I will try to open the box this weekend!

here is the pictures inside the HU.
the first one is motherboard.
the second one is the mainChipset with a cover. it's printed:
FYT5009/Wifi/50K/E
9L69TU1694
on the top side of mainChip, there is printed:
KM1639K
FYT5009_ver_E
the third one is the model number of the KYD HU.
KYD-5000-MB ver 3.0
@doitright, could you tell this model? THX~

Wow, so it is an fyt5009. The MCU board on that doesn't appear to be the same as a joying, buy the SoM is certainly a common element.

So it could be completely compatible with joying roms...ia that correct?

I would say that there is a *possibility* of compatibility. The problem is that the kernel needs to know how to talk to the MCU to control things like switching between backup camera and Android. I couldn't tell you if the SoM--MCU links are the same on this as they are on the Joying, and I couldn't tell you if the MCU *chip* is the same, and I couldn't tell you if the *software* running on the MCU is at all compatible.

Who did you buy this product (link)? Do you have the firmware for it?

i bought it from taobao.com, i'm in China.
There was not firmware in my hand...
but, I got twice OTA updates since the HU was installed.
anyway, i cannot tell the update resource. The only information maybe some IP address.

Recommendations for an '03 Audi A4

I'm looking for a head unit that'll be able to do a good bit of stuff. First and foremost, I want it to have a good amplifier, as the Bose system in my car is a pain to work with. I'm a delivery driver by trade and I want to be able to use Google Maps as well as have all of my incoming dispatch (we use WisdomGPS) go to the head unit as well. I also need to be able to connect to at least two Bluetooth devices at once as well as have WiFi. Last thing, gotta look good, be reliable, and I'd preferably go no smaller than 7". Knobs, buttons, etc. aren't a huge factor.
I've been looking at the Pumpkin and Joying units, but I'm tossed on what to get and what to avoid.
When you asked for two de devices connected by Bluetooth...you mean two phones connected simultaneously? If so.... nor pumpkin nor joying units can do that
If you want to have phone cpnnected and other device (like odb2) you should look to joying Intel based new units
Enviado desde mi D6603 mediante Tapatalk
I think I would start looking at other options besides these Android units. The limitations are great and the support from the suppliers and manufactures are lacking. I want the simple thing to display ID3 info over bluetooth and it cant be done.

How?
I would get rid of the Audi and purchase a quality car with an engine in the right direction
If you want a headunit matching Audi reliability -A Chinese android headunit is a brilliant choise! For dual BT connections I think you need a model with two working BT chips...
But BT functionality seem limited on most (if not all?) Of these Chinese HUs

Intel Sofia SOM Board?

From what it looks like in the other threads there are Intel SOM boards that are mtc based? Is there somewhere I could purchase the Intel Sofia SOM board and replace the rk3188 board I have in my current MTCD unit? I've looked around and have not been able to find any more information, is this feasible?
First of all ask to your manufacturer.
I think it is not possible....I remember somebody posted images and it seems that mcu and main board are integrated into only one board....
Enviado desde mi D6603 mediante Tapatalk
Tried asking the manufacturer already, they just said they don't have the intel boards. So no luck on that end, just a generic alibaba supplier. I think joying is the one board, but I believe others reported they're the mtc based architecture but I might be wrong.
Two different Intel units in market:
1) mtcd units with Intel som. It is the upgrade of previous mtcd which mounted rk3188. Several manufacturers are mounting these mtcd Intel. Each one configures their own mtcd mcu . But it Android part should be the same
2) joying Intel units. They started to mount a different mcu than mtcd (they used to mount mtcd for rk3188 chip before) so different ROm and options.
Enviado desde mi D6603 mediante Tapatalk
While they are both called "MTCD", there is not yet any indication of what, precisely, that means. It probably means that there are some common elements and design between the Intel MTCD and the Rockchip/ARM MTCD, but there are *DEFINITELY* some physical differences as well. For example, the WiFi/Bluetooth is on the SoM for the Intel units, but on the MCU board on the Rockchip/ARM units.
I would say that it is highly unlikely that you will be able to transplant the SoM from an Intel to a Rockchip/ARM.
Hm, dang I like the fit of the unit in my vehicle, wasn't wanting to upgrade the whole unit if I could just go for the SOM. I guess I'll wait it out and see if anyone offers something compatible later on. Thanks for the info everyone

Can I get some buying advice? (Coming from MTCB 800x480 (EONON GA2114))

Hey guys,
I currently have: MTCB 800x480 (EONON GA2114)
But it runs on 1gb of ram and is slow even though I have it rooted.
Do I want to upgrade to the Sofia 2GB head unit?
Whatever get, I don't need disc playing options, I just want it to be fast, customization, and able to be rooted.
I like the $200-$300 price point
Just searching the Sofia 2gb models on Amazon though prices range from like $260 - $310 for what appear to be the same model.
I'm just confused on subtle differences and I'd like advice on where to buy and what the best price is?
For example, what's the difference between these two (besides button placement and price):
https://www.carjoying.com/new-andro...olution-1024-600-fm-am-rds-gps-navigatio.html
https://www.amazon.com/JOYING-Andro...TF8&qid=1493322481&sr=8-1&keywords=joying+2gb
Thanks!
Hi
i would recommmend to buy a PX5 MTCD rather thn intel Sofia
Even it just has been released the marshmallow version, it couldnt be relaseaed Nougat as intel discountinued the development for this processor.
PX5 is 2GB Ram as well, but octacore and 32GB ROM
The most famous developers for MTCB and MTCD have moved to PX5 , so high support is expected.
The most famous one, Malaysk has moved to hotAudio PX5....so i recommend same manufactureer as well
Additionally, hotaudio has some dicounts on universal units
Your Eonon was 2din universal.
The nissan universal has similar dimensions to the 2Din universal
Check these models below 250USD:

Where do I find the threads on Malaysk 's PX5 roms?

I think you enjoy paying more....
The two links I supplied to you were below 250usd (one was 238) .... this is 279.
But it is Amazon....of course...
Haha
What do you dont know is that volsmart is not any manufacturer and for getting updates (not rom, but mcu which only should be updated by your manufacturer) you will suffer a little bit more.

Yours with similar buttons was $20 more with shipping. Amazon shipping with prime was free and was 2 day shipping.
I will still be able to put Malasyk's roms on this.

Malaysk rom for sure...but i was talking about mcu updates. If you are lucky and mcu is branded by any common manufacturer you will be ok...but if it is rare mcu manufacturer....you will be pushing to seller to get updates...
But don't worry it is just the worst scenario ever

I also purchased the Volsmart 006 fire from the above Amazon link. The MCU version is MTCD_KGL_V2. 36_2. KGL means I can use Erinsin Mcu updates instead of waiting on Volsmart to post them correct? Just got the head unit today. So far I'm really happy with my purchase.
You can use any KGL mcu update....as they came for the same manufacturer (and many sellers/retailers/distributors)

pdappcgeek....Did you get any cameras? I want a dvr dask cam and a back up cam along with an OBD2 elm327. What accys did you order if any?
I'm also looking to purchase a good head unit to root and use in my restomod project, It will have bluetooth controlled app for the heather and AC and I really want to use the torque app for the ODB information. Can you guys recommend a good unit? The OP said he purchased the Volsmart? How do you like it? Some of you guys thought it might not be a good purchase for updates, so what's the best recommended units?

I also ordered the Volsmart. It's great! I installed Malasyk rom and updated the MCU the first night. It runs KGL MCU. You can easily find the latest updates for it here on XDA. Many units have different names but are manufactured by the same company. I recommend the PX5 volsmart fire 006 from the previous Amazon link.

I did not order an OBD dongle. I connect my phone to it via Bluetooth and it works fine. I think most of the OBD 2 adapters are the same but have limited experience with that.

Best 1Din Head Unit?

Hey all,
I am currently looking for a head unit for my Renault Clio.
The problem is, that it only has a single din slot and I do not want to modify the dashboard.
Then only one I found was made by joying, but they all have the Intel Sofia CPU. As it is announced dead by Intel and there is barely any support for mods or custom ROMs, I was looking for a PX5 unit.
Does anyone have a recommendation or should I go with the joying unit, even though it has the Intel CPU?
Thanks!

@ikerg Thanks for the link! Unfortunately I should have mentioned that my Clio is from 2004, so this HU won't fit sadly.
I guess I'll have to go with the Joying Unit then?
I mean I don't think that these units are bad, just the fact that they will almost probably never get Android 7 is a bummer.

Is this PX5 Unit legit?

Hey
Been looking around for a new android unit, after I found out the last one I got was a scam
It claimed to run android 9 but was on android 8, and worst of all claimed to have 4gb but in reality was only around 2gb, which made the system slow and unstable
I've been reading good things about the PX5 system and was looking at this unit: aliexpress.com/item/4000113064724.html?spm=a2g0o.productlist.0.0.602461efQRJzYi
But is it legit?
Does it really have the claimed 4gb of ram or is it just another scam?
It claims to run android 10, which only make me more suspicious of the unit
I'm open to advice on other units, if this one bad/scam
Thanks in advance
Alex218b
Ther are lots of px5 4gb/64gb and android 10.
So could be legit...
My recommendation is to go to a well forum.supported platform (MTCD based MCU) and a recognized brand (for which their well support has been confirmed) (like Dasaita - there are others)....
Otherwise you assume the risk of if some issue you could have an expensive non-working device
