[Q] How to downgrade from G935U to G935T - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge Questions & Answer

I'm looking for a solid process to get back to G935T.

Just flash the APK1 firmware. It's on this forum.

why is urgent ? I do not understand?

Is there any TWRP or other recovery for SM-G930V

Seems like the only recovery is see in TWRP is for the edge or international versions of the model, so I'm having a hard time adding a recovery. Can anyone help??? I'd greatly appreciate it.
No...the phone just got root and the bootloader is really locked down. No one saw us getting root, so who knows what can happen.

IF we get anything it will most likely be safestrap. So no AOSP.
Use FlashFire!

Are there any Roms or Custom recoveries compatible with this specific model number? Doesn't seem like it.

FlashFire is the compatible recovery. There are two ROMs for the Verizon S7 Edge. http://forum.xda-developers.com/verizon-s7-edge/development I have personally verified that the PlayStore ROM posted for the Edge will work on the S7 flat.
I should mention that you need to be on the U firmware prior to flashing those ROMs. The ROM also installs the G935 engineering kernel, so you need to flash the G930 boot kernel with Odin afterwards. I can make a write-up later if there is any interest.
I can even modify his ROM with the correct build.prop and kernel for the G930V.
How's the stability and finctionality?
A guide would be awesome. How do I get it up and running lol.

Sounds interesting, don't know if the different firmware/kernel would run better on our Verizon variant.

If you intend to root it, then you still need to use the same engineering kernel. I will say that before I rooted the U-firmware, the phone was much smoother and faster in stock form than the stock Verizon firmware.

Does flashing the engineering kernel unlock more LTE bands by chance? Band 12 to be specific..

Not just the kernel alone. Flash the U firmware and you will be able to select any band, as long as the radio is in the phone for it.

Thanks. Is it the G930U or G935U firmware that's needed? I'm guessing the Edge U firmware is what you're speaking of.. is it a simple flash? I'm running PE1 rooted at the moment.
930u for flat 935u for edge. Just flash entire image over. Shouldn't need root

OK I just accessed service mode on the PE1 firmware.. no Band 12 or 17 option. I'll flash the 930U firmware and attempt again to see if there's a difference at all.
Also, is rooting the 930U firmware the same as the PE1 firmware process?
Sorry for hijacking this thread.

I flashed the G930U firmware and was able to receive Band 17 successfully. Thank you for pointing me in the right direction with the U firmware!
Did you flash the 930U firmware on a flat S7 or edge Verizon variant device. I have a rooted Verizon device and using it on T-Mobile.
Version 6.0.1 July patch.
Can you pm or reply here on how you managed thanks
G930v custom recovery pass dm verity
Can someone point me in the direction of a thread to install custom recovery on the Verizon varient S7? Say hypothetically I could pass the dm-verity check.
How would I go about implementing the pass to install a custom recovery.

Root U ?

Good night, is there any way to make root sm-g935u t-mobile G935UUEU4API3? The truth at least to my this rom works smoother for me, I only make the root and ready
should be able to simply flash the modem

You ODIN the CP module of the firmware that you want install but I am not sure of doing so with a 935t modem on 935f firmware. I think it will work, but I have 935T firmware, so have not tried to do so.. Do some reading of the 935F TMo thread before you attempt anything if you haven't already.
935F? But my cel is t-mobile, same you can friend? If is so I can pass any page to download it by please.

Debranding S8

Hi guys, I'm out of USA.
After many failed attempts still can not debrand my AT&T SM-G950U.
Through ODIN I upgraded successfully to latest G950USQS1AQF7_USC
But can not find any unlocked firmware (XAA) to my S8, only for S8+.
Any idea where to find it?
Thanks.

Not searching very hard then. Update.com and search firmwares for G950U1. You'll see the latest XAA listed.
Works great (Minus volte and wifi calling), I've been running it myself
Thanks joe3681 for you answer.
Firmware downloaded from sammobile (G950U1UEU1AQE3_G950U1OYM1AQE3_XAA)
But i got the following error when try to install it: FAIL! Model dismatch fail
Sounds like it's not correct fw then.

This is what I used and it worked perfect. I also always use the modded Odin and remove .md5 off the end of everything once I extract it all.
Ok!!
The modded odin works!!
Debranded!!
Thanks a lot joe!

Hi Guys, I'm in the same case as the OP, and I have always updated via Odin using Sammobile's firmware, which only includes the AP file. I already downloaded the modded Odin and firmware from joe's post, but it includes a lot more files.
Should I load all the files to Odin? or just flashing the AP file would be OK? Thank you very much in advance!

From what it looks they are having issues between the to bootloader's. Your answer may come in the 892 partcyborg root thread.

Help me identify the correct FW to flash/update to Pie 9.0

I have an Sprint Samsung S8. I want to update to Android Pie 9. Its currently on Android 8.0.0 - R16NW.G950USQU5CSA4. And I want to flash with Odin to any compatible Android Pie FW. I am personally not looking to unlock or anything. The confusing part is that when I research the FW version (G950USQU5CSA4) it comes as a Verizon FW. So I am not sure if is safe to flash any of the Pie FW available on sammobile for Sprint.
It is safe to flash for example to one like G950USQU5DSD3 that appears in Sammobile and is for Sprint?

For any newbie like me who ever had a look at this thread. This definitely work as said by @kpwnApps, I downloaded SM-G950U, build G950USQU5DSD3 (3.92GB) from Sammobile and flashed with Odin. Flashed AP, BL, CP, CSC (not CSC_HOME) on its respective place on Odin. 5m 32s later it was updated with no trouble.

Last question, I am personally not interested. Just curious. As long as is the same android version, would it be possible to downgrade too by flashing with Odin and earlier version? or would something like that cause a brick?
