I bricked my phone back in the days before we had the perm bootloader unlock and the only way I was able to fix it was to flash the CN x720 ROM. This got everything back up and running but I'm now stuck on the x720 baseband. Does anyone have a flashable copy of the x727 baseband?
i believe im having somewhat similar issues. I unlocked and rooted. suddenly my cell service is all wonky. constantly going in and out. can never stay on lte for to long.... im assuming kernal baseband got messed up with wrong twrp etc w/e really need a fix as this phoen now isnt reliable...

The last post by Honda John in the cyanogen post had a file
So I should be able to pull out the modem and flash it in fastboot.
fastboot flash modem NON-HLOS.img
Correct? Are there any other required files?

To reply to my own message .... Yes you can flash the NON-HLOS.img in fastboot. My baseband is now "MPSS.TH.2.0.c1.9.1-00010" which is what the x727 baseband is according to this post.

Of course I didn't check the version prior to flashing this one so I have no idea if it's different than the CN baseband version.

I have the same baseband on my x727, and I've been on stock CN Rom, GrossoShop Rom, MIUI Rom and back to US Rom. I have excellent LTE signal along with band 12. I don't think I ever bothered to check what the factory baseband was.
By the way, you are correct, the NON-HLOS.bin is the only file you need to flash to get modem correct. I used to do that all the time in my Xiaomi Note 3 Pro kate version when flashing kenzo Roms.

What is the difference between both of these things?

So is it possible to update it?
When we update the ROM, or when we install a custom ROM, does this baseband version get updated?
baseband should updated if you will flash image in PHONE part in odin. if you are flashing custom rom then you do not flash this part. you flash PDA only. so radio and bootloader you usually dont flash.
flashing radio is allegedly only thing that can brick your phone.
in our galaxy 3 jpf rom we have baseband version I5800XXJP4. i think this is newest version. if not, somebody can correct me.

Its the bootloader that can brick your phone. Not the radio.

But the changes in baseband version would improve/decrease radio preformance? what will happen if you replace new baseband version with an old one?
Last week I first flash KK baseband, then flash CloudyStock by Cloudyfa, upgrading from JB to KK.
If I want to downgrade to JB by kdz, should I flash JB baseband first? Or the JB baseband has already included inside the JB kdz?
By the way, could someone plz briefly tell me the difference between the efs and the modem? As I know, the modem represents the baseband, right?

Hello! Are you sure you want to downgrade back to stock with a kdz.? You can always flash a stock 4.2.2 rom if you want that (flash jb baseband first) and keep recovery and root...Or you can just downgrade with kdz, no need to flash JB baseband first, it is included inside the JB KDZ.
The Efs partition is a partition where a lot of important radio data is stored. Without this data, you won’t be able to use your phone correctly. So therefore it is important to have a backup of your efs partition, (because it is unique) in case it gets corrupt.Your modem is a part of the firmware that controls the cell and wifi radios inside the phone, so without a working modem, you would not have data, signal, or wifi connection.
Hope this helps!

First of all, thanks your answer!!
I downgrade to 4.2 by flashing JB baseband first, but there's no D802 TWN modem(I live in Taiwan), can I flash other country's baseband(such Hong Kong, or Europe)?
One more question: whenever I downgrade to JB or upgrade to KK, the efs partition won't be changed, while the modem will vary, right? Sorry for my bad English.
The efs partition will never change if everything is as it should be, and yes you can flash other countries kdz. Keep in mind that you might not get 4g connection because the 4g frequency vary in different countries (like 2600mhz, 1800mhz etc)
Btw do you have a backup of your stock jb rom? You can always flash back to that if you have a backup
And yes the modem will vary from kitkat to jb:good:
Keep in mind that I am not responsible for what you do...but otherwise hope this helps
If I downgrade by means of flashing JB modem then JB rom, not by kdz, my question is: if I flash different countries modem, my 4g may not work, right? Besides this, is there any side-effect?
So the only way to get my original modem is to flash my country's kdz, then use tools to backup my JB modem as well as efs?
I never backup stock JB rom, because it's very easy to flash kdz at the first time, while it has been more complicated last few days.

Who can plz explain to me?
I tied to go back to sotck 4.2.2 by flashing kdz, i did never found my kdz rom d80220a so i tried to flash other country's kdz but it didn't work with me so i'v to reflash kitkat rom d80220a and it work,so basically i cant go back to stock any more, any suggestions?!

A custom rom never contains a modem or bootloader. So no that does not apply.
It mean no any problems after flashing?
Some custom ROMs require an up-to-date modem and bootloader. If you flash a custom ROM, the imei may disappear or wifi/calls may not work if the ROM is too new for the phone's bootloader and modem.
Before installing a custom ROM on a phone, I make sure that the phone is working properly with the latest stock ROM.

He means it the other way around. He wants to use a kitkat rom on a lollipop bootloader and modem. That's shouldn't be a problem.
I see the OP asking 2 questions:
1) Can a KK ROM be flashed to a phone running an LP bootloader and modem. Generally, I would say yes but whether all functions work will depend on the KK ROM. Some custom KK ROMs I ran on my Nexus 5 required me to downgrade the bootloader and radio to KK versions.
2) Can a KK modem and bootloader be flashed over an existing LP modem and bootloader? I think it depends on the phone's installed bootloader.
Yes audit13 brother my quistion is no1. I have now albe95 astra v2 on UHOJ2 base modem and bl lollipop. And goes to goldfinger kk base.now confused what can I do?
Did not try on i9505 but it works on i9500. I think it will work but u should backup your EFS partition
I say try the KK ROM on the LP bootloader and modem. If it doesn't work, you'll either have to find another ROM or you'll have to try and flash a KK bootloader and modem over a LP bootloader and modem.
After flash NOUGAT my SIM Card slots not working properly. Sometimes it works, sometimes nothing, when i insert the SIM Card, it shows that i inserted it, but after few seconds, it says No Sim Card Detected, and work only in SLOT 2 this thing, in SLOT 1, nothing occurs neither works, the IMEI's correct, and i tried to flash modem from MM, then reboot but no results...
Anyone?
Hey!

Stock Brazil or other?
I have an EUI 5.8.21s stock ROM zip, flashable with TWRP, from x727 (modded for dual sim x720, but can be modded back) I also have a modem for 19s. I hear the latter will fix my issues with my phone under custom ROMs, but am a bit nervous about modem flashing. My phone came with stock 18s and no OTA upgrade available.
Will the stock ROM also fix this, and also, will it relock the bootloader? If it relocks the bootloader, can I flash the 19s file that unlocks the bootloader without side-effects for custom ROMs or it not unlocking the bootloader?
I know this is a lot of questions, you don't have to answer all of them, just answer with the right solution for this problem.
I went ahead and flashed the modem... hope this solves my issues.
It didn't solve the issues. What now? Is the stock ROM I found here, mentioned above, bootloader-unlockable or will it trap me in it? I think I want to give it a try, but want to go to custom ROMs; perhaps afterwards if the modem/baseband on it help.
i had a similar (but not same) question like this.
You can try to flash CN stock rom and then reflash US modem. The US modem can be found in many threads.
BTW, i did not notice anybody post a modem file with a 'newer' version no.
