If I understand correctly it is there and can be activated via rooting. But you will only see charging activity. As far as I know notifications don't work. Somebody correct me if that had changed.

Hehe no worries.
I had the same problemand after a few hours of troubleshooting i did a hard reset... THEN i remembered that setting!!!
Is there any thing that can change the frequency of the front led. I've tried light flow and light manager and can't seem to get any led control. The current led flashes like once every 10-15 seconds on a new text. Has any one had any luck?

Yeah, I managed to get control through a lot of trial and error. I'm using light flow lite and have it set in root mode, turned off 'run in foreground' and checked 'reset color before change'. Seems to be working just fine and dandy for me.

I just tried with these settings and it didn't work. Still doesn't work at all much less flashing fast.. What do you have checked under your display/notification in settings for your phone? Also do you use light flow with accessibility checked?

I haven't messed with the flash speed... but it looks like there are options for that under each notification menu. I just left it stock speed as it works well for me.
Also, make sure you leave the stock LED notifications enabled or else it wont work at all.
OK so I finally found the right combination to make it work. I used light manager since I couldn't get light flow to work. What you have to do is make sure that under Settings>Display>Notifications that the notification switch is set to on BUT every item needs to be set to OFF. Light manager will then work perfectly even without root.

I also have Verizon. Make sure this page looks like this or it won't work.
This menu is in settings under display. Also you need to use light manager from the play store and not lightflow. I couldn't get lightflow to work properly.

Yes I use light manager now but even that is weird. I had to leave the 'Missed LG emails' options checked in order for the correct color to show with light manager with my gmail. Also it's not showing me the light for other things when the gmail light is flashing. =(

maybe it needs root, some phones do. could also just be that it's not marshmallow optimized yet? are you rooted and if so, have you checked the "root" box in settings? mine wasn't working either and it's the straw that broke the proverbial back of my camel and caused me to give up on not rooting my phone and trying to go vanilla. I just knew that if i was having problems this early i wasn't going to be able to go long term without it.
Light Flow worked out of the box for me, I just installed the app... gave it permission to view my notifications and it worked.
Be sure pulse notification light is enabled in settings > sound & notifications.
What color light you trying to use? I noticed some of the choices in light flow don't work on my led. Try a different color maybe.

This is the most common reason I see for LF not working for people. Make sure you do this (as the app tells you to do).
Light manager works far better than light flow i have the paid version of both

Might not apply, but make sure to NOT follow the tutorial for Light Flow on the Nexus 6.
You still need to uncheck "Run in foreground" in the Persistent Icon menu.
Then under Device Settings and Root, ONLY check the following:
Root Mode
Show LED While Screen on (this might not need to be checked)
Nexus 5 force LED reset
I think that's it.

I strongly disagree, but as with anything else... to each their own, they both have free versions to try out in advance.

I had a back up of Light Flow from my Nexus 6 so i just left it the same, but the biggest change was the "LED Mixer" or whatever the setting was called in each notification. Removing that, and just selecting the color and blink rate fixed the problem for me.

I am not saying those settings you mention break anything... just wanted to clarify that they aren't required in order for it to work. For example, I don't have Light Flow running in root mode.

Enabling the LED Mixer did break Light Flow, which is only caused if you follow the Nexus 6 tutorial. So if people are saying it works out of the box, then great.

Yup, it does. The only things you need to do are the ones it pops up and tells you about... which for me, was reminding me to give it access to see my notifications.
I've been using Light Flow since it was released, so I typically start fresh on each new device to report any issues before I import my notifications backup.
Edit: Well, and turn on the LED in Settings for the device.

I usually use the provided LED settings in ROMs since Light Flow doesn't give you LED options for every app (Tweet Caster for example).

Yeah, I am sure it doesn't support every single app in existence. I usually run into an unsupported app once a year or so and the dev always adds it very quickly upon request.

Well damn, I didn't even know a request was an option! thanks.
Any help from people have it working properly?
I'm rooted and it only blinks a white/purplish light. Solid green when charging.
Test and real notifications don't show requested custom color
I have the option for pulse turned on but have not had any notifications use the led. In fact I don't even know where it is on the phone bc it hasn't turned on once. Does it not work without lightflow or similar app?

I have the same problem. I have seen a pink and red work as well though but orange = forget it!
One thing that worked for me is to not use custom colors

The App is pointless then IMO

I am currently using Oreo March security patch, and the notification such as new messages, emails do not pop up but only show the icon of the app on the top left Conor which makes me feel uncomfortable. I have turned off the edge lighting and all the app notifications are on. But it just wouldn't pop up. Only after I reboot the phone then it works again. I also have tried to force stop the message app, not working well.
Anyone has similar experience? PLS help

Hi there!
No unfortunately this phone doesn't have any secret LED notification light(s), the two dots are for some of the phone's sensors. Nothing more nothing less. I don't believe Samsung would hide something like that from us. Thank you for asking!
