CM 14.1 how to notify about missed calls? - Moto G4 Plus Questions & Answers

Hello,
first of all thanks to all the people responsible for bringing CM to the Moto G4 Plus. Runs very well already.
Now I'm curious how to get a notification about a missed call. Since Moto Display doesn't seem to work on custom roms for now. I tried Moto LED Enabler but haven't figured out what to enable to get a Notification for missed calls.
Is there any other way to get a notification? Preferable with the LED.
Or how are you all let yourself get notified about missed calls?

Well, that's also a nice idea for the pebble owners. I'm still hopeful there is a way that doesn't include another device.

Annoying Details: Message Notification Light and SMS

First of all, great job on the special edition ROM. Maybe I don't get why we in general would all want to calculate sun positions or use some of the other zillion apps, but hey... it's still more stable and largely better working than the OEM crap.
However... the blinking message light you can set for SMS, at least for me, doesn't act happy any longer. It certainly will turn on but not off after you read a message. Anybody else have this problem? It also sucks (casually unrelated) that there is no audible repeat notification that a call or SMS was missed. My cheapo $20 Motorola has that feature working great!
Also, my GPRS connection is dead. Don't know where to go on that, it worked after I set everything after the ROM update... for about two hours. Since then, no dice. It'll probably be difficult to get T-Mobile to troubleshoot it considering that it's not really their ROM anymore...
Thanks for any insights!

Indeed, some bugs exist. I also notice that SMS notified flash light can NOT turn off after I read a message. I try a dozen of times, still can't find a solution. So I just disable that function.
Another odd problem, I set the sound for missed call. The funny thing is, the "missed call" tone immediately comes after the "ring tone" if I don't pick up the call. Sadly, the "missed call" tone doesn't repeat any more. How do I really know I got a missed call? :x
try this
http://geocities.com/myppcpe2003/index.htm
try this one: MY|PHONE|PROFILES
it resolves some problems you listed[/url]
So NOBODY cares? No audible missed call notifications...
I have all the latest and greatest, thanks to you guys, mainly XDA-Developers and Jeff!!!
Still, no audible reminders of missed calls or unchecked SMS. Despite searching around all over, can't find any software to make up for this lacking feature.
What's up? No solution? Nobody cares/doesn't mind checking their phones for missed calls and such?

Does the phone still work I mean can you place a call?
Also where are you located?
Yea the phone works fine, it's just how all these are. I've tested four of them, they ALL do it. You miss a call, get voice mail, whatever. There is no provision to get repeated audible notifications like you can on any regular cell phone.
The best you can do is have the light continue blinking at increased intervals.
I've used 3.16, 4.00.5, 4.0016, and now 4.00.11. Same thing on all of them. Radio is now 6.24, was 6.18. Was same thing.
I don't think it's a bug, but a lacking feature.
I'm in the U.S.
Why, can you turn repeating audible notifications of a missed call on?
I agree that both 6.24 and 6.18 are lame and thats why I'm using AT&T's Radio Stack version A.20.10.
Sorry never heard of a repeating audible notification for missed calls though but you might want to take a look at the below programs:

BTW if you would like to try the AT&T Radio Stack send me a PM with your email address and I'll forward you a copy.

Can you "mute" an incoming call without rejecting it?

So, as the title says, can you "mute" (silence the ringing tone, on the smartphone, of) an incoming call *without rejecting it*?
To be even more clear: the same action on my current smartphone (Note 3) is performed by pressing the volume rocker (up or down) and that results in the phone still "ringing" (as far as the caller is concerned) but no sound coming from the smartphone.
I am interested in getting my first Android Wear device (an LG G Watch R) and this, together with full notification mirroring and Google Keep integration, would be one of the reasons to get it, for me.
Another very big one would be being able to read a TXT/DOC/RTF/PDF file but AFAIK that's not (yet) possible...
TIA!
Come on... no one?!?
Does this capability really interest so few people??
plus +1 i have a moto 360 but havent seen an option yet ... swipe up to reject call via sms and swipe left/right to dismiss or answer

Hi,
what happens if you cover the watchface with your palm (same gesture that puts the watch in standby) while receiving a call notification..?
May you try it?
I heard from someone who has an Asus ZenWatch that it does what we are after but he also said that he thinks that is exclusive to the ZenWatch (an Asus mod, in other words).

Mutes the call on my phone by covering the face of the watch with my hand, I have a Zenwatch. Does not hang it up.

So you are confirming what that guy said... now it remains to be seen if the fact that it is exclusive to the ZenWatch is also true
Good thing that somebody is doing it, anyway, 'cause it makes a lot of sense and it will most probably be adopted by Android Wear natively (just like Google has adopted in "mainstream" Android a lot of Samsung's good ideas...) :good:
So... may somebody with any smartwatch other than the ZenWatch, try this??
Well...Doesn't mute my phone.. On the moto 360

Thanks everybody.. so it's confirmed.... oh well, I hope Google (or more OEMs) fix this glaring omission soon!
Tried on my lg g r, mutes the watch but not the phone, but at least the watch stops disturbing me, I was about to go mad for a while when people kept calling during a meeting, since muting the phone don't stop the watch from vibrating

Hi, i have been trying also to find a solution for mute the call on both ( phone and watch moto 360) the only thing i can do is when receiving a call if i cover the watch it stops vibrating but the phone still rings, the same if you press the side button, stops the watch but not the phone. Hope they add this feature i miss it a lot.
Regards
Just to confirm additionally... Gear Live does NOT work to cover watch to mute phone (Galaxy S5, stock lollipop).
Out of curiosity, why do you not want to dismiss the call?

Are you really asking it..?!? Because that way the caller KNOWS that you saw he/she was calling and you didn't want to talk with him/HER...
Oh, okay... that makes sense I guess. I never thought of it that way. I guess I don't generally get that many calls that I can ignore.
Either that means I'm very important and and only talk about important stuff, or I'm very unpopular and no one calls me to chit chat.

Notification issues on Android Wear devices?

I'm thinking of switching from Pebble to Android Wear. I'm curious, do notifications from your phone come through consistently and quickly? On Pebble (at least with Android) about 25% of the time a notification takes 2-5 seconds to show up on the watch, or never shows up at all. I'll feel my phone buzz and sit there staring at my watch, waiting. It gets really annoying! Happened with both my S3 and Nexus 5.
Has anyone experienced similar with Android Wear watches? Or particular models? Thanks!

no missed notifications at all .
Awesome. I think I'll be ordering Black Friday or cyber Monday. Now, to decide which one.
No missed notifications at all. Working great!
After 2 weeks with my LG G Watch R, I'm afraid that after 18 months with my Pebble I've grown accustomed to doing things in a certain way and that's not the right way for Android Wear.
Could anybody enlighten me?
My watch almost never vibrates. Mails, Whatsapp messages... it doesn't matter, most notifications show as cards (which I notice after a too long time) but I don't get vibrations.
My phone is a Sony Xperia Z3 with 4.4.4 (5.0.1 on the watch). When I used my Pebble it was always muted and most apps had notifications off. Now Whatsapp and Gmail have notifications on, since I read somewhere that Android Wear devices would only vibrate if the app was supposed to make some noise. However, I still don't get vibrations.
Thanks in advance

As far as i got with this (still no Facebook notifications here) this has to do with the sound options, very logical (not) on your phone..
If you have notifications set to just vibrate with no sound on your phone there will be no vibration on your wrist, someone needs to visit that google programmer with a clue bat i think :-/
If you want your watch to be the one to get the notifications and no sound on your phone, set up all apps on your phone to use sounds, and set in Android wear app, silence the phone. This will quit your phone from responding with sounds (an i think also vibrations) while your watch should do the heavy lifting.
Why they did it this way, Google only knows, we desperately need a alternative Android wear build with a much better control of vibrations and how each type of notifications should act!

That's not true. I have set my Google+ notifications to no sound but enabled vibrations. The system wide notification strength on my note 3 is set to 0. In this way only my lg g watch r is vibrating on incoming notifications....

Well. No notifications at all after updating my phone to lollipop 5.1. In Android Wear, the option to turn on notification is greyed out. Upon application startup, I get a message saying: "Android Wear needs you to turn on notifications" but I cannot turn them on. A full hard reset of both, watch and phone, did not help. Downgrade of Android Wear APP to different old versions did not help. My watch is useless now and my Ascend Mate 7 MT10 with Lollipop 5.1 is not downgradable to kitkat any more without unlocking the boot loader which I do not want to do. So, If I would have a Pebble, I think I would stick to it until Lollipop issues are resolved at least you want to keep you devices on KitKat and renounce to update to lollipop.
These are my two cents from a frustrating experience.
just install informer
All problem SoLved
just install "informer for android wear - notification"

Ringtone/notification volume issue

I seem to be having an issue with the notifications and ringtones on my new Moto X Pure. Ringtones are 'ascending' and start out very quiet. and some notifications seem to be the same way but the tones are so short that all that ends up happening is that you don't hear them at all. It also doesn't seem to affect every app - I don't hear anything when I get a Facebook message, but emails and texts seem fine. Is there a setting somewhere that I'm missing?
Most apps have their own sound settings. Check the apps that are giving you trouble and see if there is a setting for sending ringtones.

I checked everywhere to see if you can turn this off and failed. It's something that's very annoying to me
This is a serious issue ....I am considering returning the phone because I cannot even hear my notifications ...spoke to motorola and of course they said they are not aware of any issue
.....if they would acknowledge the problem and address it in a software update I wouldn't care but since they don't even acknowledge the issue ....

That app seems to work for everything but Facebook which is fine for me. Give it a try. Hopefully once some custom roms start dropping this issue is fixed
Someone else and I are having similar issues with low volume: http://www.reddit.com/r/motox/comments/3maaw1/_/

I have had ring tone volume going down to zero and not being able to adjust it 3 times now. I think I just figured out that this happens when moto assist puts it into "driving" mode and I'm wearing my bluetooth headset. Only way to fix it is to reboot the phone. So annoying!
Sent from my XT1575 using Tapatalk
I don't mind the ringtone volume as much as the low notification volume. It sucks. I constantly miss messages and email. The buzz sound you get from vibrate is louder than the darn notification.

This seems to be a good workaround. To get it to work check "New normalization method." I was also getting an annoying notification in the status bar that the app was waiting for a call. I was able to get rid of this by going into settings-apps-disable increasing ring and then deselecting "show notification." App still works.
Now onto trying to reduce the vibration intensity or pattern of this phone. If anyone knows how to do that, please advise. Also wish this phone had separate volume control for the ringtones and notifications.

I don't know how well this will be in the long run. But I disabled moto voice and restarted. The ascending issue is gone all around. . I will keep you posted and see if this isn't just a fluke
Sent from my XT1575 using XDA Free mobile app
Im not sure if this is related but Ive noticed the ringtones are coming out on both top and bottom speakers but notification tones are onlu coming out from the bottom speaker are you having the same issue?
Sent from my XT1575 using Tapatalk
The workaround I'm using is to add ~2 seconds silence to the initial portion of the MP3 file for my notification MP3s. This means that during this initial 2 seconds of an MP3, while the XT1575 volume ramps up, there is nothing playing, then the actual sound plays at full volume. Works like a charm.
I use my own MP3s for notifications and ringtones. Used an old version of Goldwave to do this (and other useful things) to the MP3s, then loaded them on to phone.
If you're rooted this is the fix I through together thanks to the help of the moto x play thread. Check it out and make sure to thank the guy who created the original file

I had the same issue with every nexus 6 I had (3 of them, all returned). Motorola has something very wrong going on with the speaker hardware/config file.
For anyone who happened to install a custom ROM or the OTA Marshmallow update, do you still have this ascending ringtone issue? I cannot hear my notification sounds, but after installing the "Disable Increasing Ringtone" app, it seems to have helped for most notifications except for FB Chat Heads.
If your rooted, AICP http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=63842724 has the setting built in.

Still not fixed? Motorola you useless twats.
Not even fixed after the 6.0.1 update (Moto X Style, reteu version). Why is it so hard to give us a toggle for this... As much as I like this phone, there are a few quirks that will make me never buy anything non-Nexus ever again, starting this fall.

Notification sound problem.

Hey guys. After updating to the moto x deodexed rom I noticed a slight issue. Maybe I'm just doing something wrong but I'm kind of confused. All my sounds are working and enabled except I can't hear notification sound it just vibrates. All other sounds work like click of the keyboard and reply to messages it's just I can't seem to hear notification sounds from texts. I haven't received a call yet so I can not confirm if I'm getting those.
