I'm unable to activate atmos. Wondering if anyone else has experienced this. I'm rooted with an unlocked bootloader and xposed. It's happened on b27 and b29. Shortly after upgrading to b29 and installing xposed and everything it worked but eventually (and I don't know what I did differently) I'm unable to activate it. It stays grayed out in the quick settings and in the app it does nothing when pressing the power button.

If you have a separate music program such as Rocket player .. Have you enabled the EQ.. if so you need to disable the EQ in your music program .. then it should be able to be activated again. I find that when I want to listen through my speakers and want the Dolby to work .. the player has to have its EQ off .. but I found when listening to headphones its better with the players EQ than using the Dobly.. so I will activate the players EQ and dolby will shut off and not be able to be activated.

If any other app uses an EQ and it is enabled in that app .. Dolby will not function even if you aren't using that app at the time. This is what I meant. Just check your music app .. and disable the EQ and dolby should be able to be activated again. It doesn't matter if you are running youtube or whatever but as long as an EQ is enabled in another app running or not.. the dolby app will not work.
I guess I wasn't really clear about that .. yes .. if my Rocket player app has the EQ enabled but the app isn't running .. and I reboot .. I will not be able to activate dolby after it reboots.. it will be grayed out and if I launch the Dolby app and press the power button nothing happens ... until I open the Rocket Player app and disable the EQ. Then Dolby will be able to be activated again.
So at least as a test .. make sure that any app that has an EQ available .. that the EQ is disabled in that app... doesn't matter if you are using the app at the moment or if its just installed and the EQ is enabled. You have to disable the EQ on any app installed on the system. Once all EQs are disable whether running or not... then Dolby EQ will be able to be enabled.

Well thanks for the advice but I tried to find every app I have with an eq and it's still grayed out. Maybe it's confused by an app that doesn't have an eq.

Darn I thought that for sure was it ... it sounds exactly like what happens when I have the EQ enabled in my music app whether its running or not and its happened with several different music apps I tried ... it basically reacts the same way as what you explained .... Sorry then, yeah maybe something else has a built in EQ without any "user interface" for disabling it and that app is causing your issues ... but it definitely sounds like some app is trying to manipulate the sound and causing interference with the Dolby app by the way you described it reacting.
Unfortunately at this point in time .. my only suggestion would be a full reset ... your Dolby should be working again ... then install your apps one at a time and keep checking the dolby after installing and running each new app at least once to try to figure out which app is causing the issue . ..
Since you are on XDA .. not sure if you have twrp .. if so . back up your system the way it is now .. do the reset ..then if you find what app is causing it .. just reload your backup and remove the offending app
John was right actually, all u need to do is deactivate equalizer in music app and restart, worked for me there. Well mine is mini version so I'm not sure if that makes any difference.

Hi everyone,
The phone's spec sheet says that it has SRS wow hd. Any idea how I can use it? To clarify, what I'm looking for is something like the control center application which typically comes with the srs stuff. It allows the user to set various parameters of the srs algorithm. Any help would be great.
Regards,
Soumen
currently it can only be accessed via the stock music app and while playing a song..

It can be used with any music app that uses android's stock codecs. If you use music applications such as poweramp (that rely on ffmpeg) you wont be able to use srs wow hd effects, unless the dev makes it happen
I'm using dzo's Oxygen based Gingerbread ROM for the phone. I cant seem to be able to find them in the stock music player in that. Is it only available in the stock ROM?

I'm not using oxygen atm (will flash it later this day), but they should be located under the equalizer presets in the stock music app.
Okay, Im pretty sure the ROM did something to the music player. The player now shows only 4 Tabs - Artists, Albums, Songs, and Playlists. Cant seem to find Equalizer settings anywhere among the options on those screens. On my previous phone(galaxy fit), the equalizer settings used to come somewhere there. Any other music players that support this feature?
the music app in oxygen rom does not have the equaliser feature..

Install the latest version of PlayerPro (2.09). There is an option there to enable the SRS WOW HD effects. Just tested it on MIUI rom.
Can SRS WOW be activated in the official 2.3 (28.12.2011) firmware?
In the settings of the stock music app the equalizer option is inactive.
2.3.5 official, yes I'm using it now.

That's good news!
I'm using 2.3.5 official. However, in the stock music app when I go to Settings I can see an Equalizer option, but pressing it has no effect. Is this the only way to get to the SRS option and if so why might it not be working for me?
Had to register, been stalking this forum over a year...
Anyway, with this new android 2.3.5, you can't change equalizer without headphones. And when you take your headphones off, equalizer turns back to normal. And that is a big loss for those who listens to music from backspeaker. You can't have SRSWowHD if you're using the backspeaker (with that erm, stock player? Can it even be said as stock player?)
That's annoying. SRSWowHd worked really well with the speaker in 2.2.
Would Huawei have deliberately disabled adjusting the equaliser in 2.3.5? Could a third-party app re-enable it?

Hey guys! I have a Galaxy S4 on 4.2.2 that i have rooted and used TrulyClean v1.6 (Hardcore version) on!
I recently got the tip to try and install viper4android since it was better than the beats EQ mod i had,
I found out that the same issue I had with the beats eq mod I had with viper4android too.
Whenever I listen to songs in Google Music I cant just change tracks because when the next
track is playing there are no FX at all, just the stock sound! sometimes i gotta let a song repeat 2-3
times before this happens, it is REALLY frustrating and annoying!
I dont know if it's because I have to delete music FX or get another music player,
Whatever it is I know i'd appreciate some help!
Thanks in advance, cheers!

I don't know. I think it's a drivers problem. You should unistall the first one and reinstall it according to snapdragon cpu. I followed entire guide but my audio didn't change. Only thing we could do, is to wait for new version.

I have a similar problem with the Allview V1 Viper(a.k.a. Gionee Elife E3/Blu Life Play). I have a custom ROM, Xperia 4.2.2 made by Orochi, and it came with V4A preinstalled. I set everything, I launch walkman, and start a song. For 10 secs, the sound is great, the effects definitely work, then it reverts to stock...
What can I do?
Deezer and Viper4Android
Well, I have a Samsung I9082L and a Xperia C2304, but I'm facing problems with Deezer when using Viper to enhance my Xperia sound. I don't know if it happens with all Xperia phones, but Deezer uses my Xperia audio enhancer as default. I discovered that Xperia audio enhancer and Viper4Android conflict when using Deezer. So I tried disabling Sony audio enhancer (SoundEnhancement.apk) and it happens that I was right... now Viper works as a charm for my Xperia. So, for the people who are having problems using Deezer or Spotify, verify if Deezer uses phone's audio enhancer as default and try disabling it. Do not uninstall it! Just disable at the application options or, if not available, freezing with Link2SD or TitaniumBackup. Hope it helps.

I tried the instructions on the following link:
http://highonandroid.com/android-apps/viper4android-app-for-rooted-android-best-audio-app/
Skip down to step 9. I changed those prop lines and it seems to be working well with the Samsung music player contrary to what is said on that link. I check the driver status while playing music through the Samsung player and it says "Processing: Yes". I use Playback Gain Control and Convolver. Those setting are definitely working.
I am using Viper4Android 2.3.1.3 with M919 running JB 4.3.
Im using it without any build.prop.Works on every music player even stock

Well someone might need a solution just like me because I searched and found this post yesterday. Well this is how I have managed today with a simple solution. Just force stop Sound assistant and if possible hide it. Go back to v4a, turn off Master limiter, go to it's settings and turn on and off and on again the legacy mode. Then go back to Master limiter and turn it back on. This worked for my Galaxy s7 edge running Floyd Q rom. Hope this helps someone also 10 years from now
I use PowerAmp to play all my music. I found Dolby Atmos app on my Axon 7. But I could not turn it ON while my Poweramp player is playing. Also what is use of Dolby Atmos and how it works ?
Atmos is just a software eq. You can just stick with PowerAmp eq if you want. If you have FLAC music and want to use the hi-fi DAC, you will have to use the ZTE music app. The DAC doesn't work outside of the app from what I can tell.

Checking MusicFX means it will use the phone's built-in EQ which is the Dolby Atmos one which should use the Hi-Fi DAC.
EDIT: Ok I guess I was wrong, but it is possible to use the Hi-Fi DAC with Poweramp 3.0 Alpha! See HERE

Nope, just have the installed version from the Play Store. I'll get the alpha, thanks for the response.
Am I the only one that can't get the tracks to be listed in listed order in the stock music app? No matter what I do or which section I choose to view the tracks, they're always listed alphabetically.
Got burned by Lenovo's A10-70 tablet that also have implemented Dolby ATMOS. That tablet sound will get screwed up every time I loaded Poweramp normal Play Store version. Even disable Direct Volume Control in Poweramp does not help. Please tell me if both normal and alpha version of Poweramp works fine with this phone since I am very much interested. I am also not familiar with ZTE software update policy. Not sure if it will get updated as often and as long like Google Nexus phones.

Shuttle (and Shuttle+) work well with Dolby Atoms, just disable the built in EQ.
DON'T use "n7 Player" - Before their update, it messed up Dolby and I had to reset my phone twice (a 3rd time was my fault). After their latest update, it renders Dolby Atoms useless and when you try to enable it, it restarts the phone (had to reset my phone twice). Thanks to n7 (my favorite player) not playing well with Dolby Atmos, I've had to reset my phone a total of 5 times since getting it 3 weeks ago.

Headset HiFi and Dolby Atmos works with my music player of choice as well: Clean Music. Probably because it's just a simple GUI (entire player is less than 1MB) and leaves all the processing to the system.
Okay apart from Poweramp and builtin music player - what are other good options to make use of best available audio on board with Axon 7 ?

Well Spotify seems to work well for me. It probably doesn't use the Hi-Fi chip but with Dolby enabled the sound is very nice.
Call me stupid or lazy but the volume is tiny compared to my old LG G2. I have to turn it all the way up to 70%. Is this the case for you guys?
Hello
I tried to use poweramp, but this isn´t dolby Atmos enabled, but, I ´m using Jetaudio plus... and this works PERFECT, remember that this sound app was designed for use in high -end mp3 players ( like cowon), and i can say with full confidence that works great with dolby atmos, boosting very well the music in the speakersphone, in the bluetooth car stereo and headphones ( wired and wireless)... this app bringing bass optimization ( in the original speakersphone the bass is very poor), let me know your experience, i´ll try to help

Someone on the Zte forums said you need to disable direct volume control and BT direct volume control in the settings. In order to get power amp to work with Dolby.
And I can confirm that I am able to use the hifi setting and Dolby with Tidal. Which actually makes the music sound better to me than my dp-x1 onkyo player, which makes me mad cause that thing cost me 800$ lol
As the title says, I have downloaded several equalizers and none of them will work in any audio app I have tried (google play, slacker radio, etc.). When I tried to use the built-in audio effects app, it only works on Google Play and not Slacker Radio.
Are there any solutions to this issue? Does a custom ROM fix these issues?
Thanks.
Yes it is the issue. I have poweramp and it has its own equalizer which works only in poweramp. And if I change the effects in default equalizer, it won't affect poweramp settings.

I think BlackPlayer might have an option of letting you pick the EQ, at least when I used it consistently it asked if I wanted to use the system or app's EQ.

Will this allow the use of an equalizer within other audio apps like Slacker, Amazon Music, Pandora, etc.? If the EQ only works within that app it doesnt solve the problem. Thanks.
