Hi, my name is Kit and I am having trouble locating information on how to root the specific model for my phone.
Phone:Samsung Galaxy S5
Model:SM-S903VL
Carrier: Straight Talk
Android Version: 6.0.1
Baseband Version: S903VLUDU4APH3
Kernal Version:
3.4.0-8867563
[email protected] #1
Wed Aug 10 18:39:36 KST 2016
Build Number: MMB29M.S903VLUDU4APH3
Any help in pointing me in the right direction would be greatly appreciated. I have tried looking about and only found a Chinese Website that mentioned the Firmware.
I am not sure if there isn't a root or if I am simply misunderstanding how to do something.
Please and thank you for taking time to try to help me.
Sorry for the double post and bump, but it has been a few days, and my topic seemed to be drifting away from page 1 and 2.
I still do need assistance if anyone can help.
Please and thank you.
I would like information too just got this phone and would like to root if possible.
same here, theres hardly any info about this phone.
I want this so hard

Do you guys have an app for this device, Samsung Video, that just refuses to update?

Yep! I assumed it was from the fact that I had a Samsung Galaxy S4 before this phone. And I used that phone to restore my apps from. It says about Samsung Video (S4 & Note3) I believe for me.
Any ideas?

I haven't seen the beaming service app refuse to update. I'm not sure why it's doing this. The only thing I can assume is the new version of Samsung Video in the app store isn't compatible with the Galaxy S5 (or the installed firmware), and that somebody in quality control wasn't doing their due diligence.
I've been really happy with this phone so far, just wish I could root it. I haven't tried any suggested methods yet, I'm waiting to see what successes other people are having first before I brick my phone (I'm chicken!). I've been following this thread as well:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/ver...p-rooting-straight-talk-s5-sm-s903vl-t3503505
Just got this phone about a month or so ago and I can't find anything about rooting it. It is very frustrating because everyone keeps ignoring posts about this phone and it then drifts away and nothing gets answered. I have tried the @kxhan15 's method on root a similar version from Straight Talk but fails in ODIN trying to flash TWRP. I really wish someone would come to the rescue with an answer!
I don't know if there is some other information I can provide that may help or where else to look for assistance. In all honesty I just feel useless having to wait.
Give us root! Dev gods hear our cries!
I have these files. Anyone know what to do to make it into root?

Doesn't the TowelRoot v3 app let you modify some code to let you use it with phones that are not yet compatible? I looked into it but I don't quite understand it.
Hopefully someone is working on it behind the scenes and is just keeping it under wraps.
Maybe it will be a holiday present for us! Wishful thinking though.

I really apologize for asking cause I figure it's an easy answer but, does anybody know how to download and set up a recovery on a rooted SM-N900A?
Anything will help,

1. Wrong forum.
2. My condolences, your bootloader is locked. However, give a goddamn HUGE thanks to @Hashcode - he made this lil' thing - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2572978 . I used a Galaxy S4 (the AT&T variety) with a locked bootloader, Safestrap was the only thing that saved us.

That is not actually such a bad idea, most best hackers end up working for companies they hacked and make pretty good salaries. The latest one is the guy who came out with towellroot, I hear he is working for Google now.

Hi All,
I'm having trouble finding a guide for my exact version of my 6 Edge Plus. My Baseband version is G928VVRU2BPD4. I have found this (http://forum.xda-developers.com/s6-edge-plus/general/guide-6-0-1-g928fxxs2bpd2-t3371526) but I'm not sure if it will work for me?
If someone could point me in the correct direction, or let me know if the guide that I linked to above will work for me - I'd greatly appreciate it.
Thanks!
I have the same phone and did not see my exact model on CF Auto-Root.
Anyone have any information regarding a easy root for this phone? SM-G928V

Most Verizon devices can't be rooted....
Old thread, I know, but I'm desperate. Is it still the case that this Verizon model can't be rooted? No way around it? I need to root my phone in order to do a deep scan for deleted files.

I'm also looking for a root all over the internet, Why is this model not being looked into anymore? i know the phones 2 years old, but cmon. I assume it cant be rooted because of the bootloader being locked tighter then fort knox itself. Verizon devices are notorious for having extra security.
Finally Root
Hey man, i finally got root for SM-G928V, this soluction is the app Wondershare MobileGo (PC), he have a built-in root application.

Nope. I downloaded it, does nothing. Cant even detect my phone. Its a waste of time. The bootloader cannot be unlocked on this model because of Verizon and no one is working on a root method because the device is already too old. Im going to sell it and upgrade to a S7 edge. Right now you can get a used S7 edge on ebay for under $250. Just avoid the verizon models.
So, I'm at a total and complete loss as to what to do. I have spent hours upon hours googling, and searching xda and trying step after step after guide after guide and I canNOT fix my S5! I've tried recovery, I've tried Odin and there has got to be something I'm missing. When I plug up the phone into my laptop, it sort of recognizes it, in the sense that it makes the notification noise of it being recognized, as with any external device. Odin picks it up as well. The issue is when trying to boot up the phone, it's stuck on the Samsung Galaxy S5 custom, android etc screen. it will not go past this. i'm almost in tears right now, and just want to get the phone working again. Is there anyone out there that can help???
Tiny update.
So I tried another method, and still having issues. Only difference is, I get past the powered by android screen, but then when getting to the Samsung with the color and oval it freezes and shuts down. One step forward, 2 steps back.
which G900 model do you have? like is it a G900F? Mine is a G900P

good to hear!! (or see, rather LoL) usually a flash in Odin with the correct tarball fixes most issues with S5's

well, let's just say i have a folder of 26 links, majority from here on trying to find a solution on how to root and consequently unbrick my phone when I messed it up. that's probably not even all of them. I only posted on one asking a question, but it was about upgrading the firmware (still waiting on a reply on that, lol). so I have no clue which post it was that was finally successful in restoring my phone.

Hello! I have lately been using a Samsung galaxy S5 on Verizon, and it has served me well. But, I recently had just gotten a new Samsung Galaxy S7 flat (Sm-G9300V). I have actually used the edge before, but wasn't a fan of it, so I used the S5. I had heard that this phone is now able to be rooted on the Verizon version of the phones. So, I have followed many guides, and have searched my build number for root, and a bunch of other things. I will post some screenshots of my phones information if you can help. Another issue I've been having is when I try to flash the ENGBOOT from multiple different XDA forums, my ODIN keeps failing, even though I've turned on USB debugging and OEM unlock in the developer settings. If anyone could tell me if i'm doing something wrong, and maybe point me in the right direction if you can, this would be much appreciated. If you are willing to help, I would be more than happy to give more information. (Also, flashing a stock firmware wont even work, and It is the Verizon firmware) The pictures are an attachment, sorry I don't know how to put pictures on a thread.:good:
Save your time. There currently is no root for your software version. Your software is bootloader "B" (G930VVRSBCTC1) of which there is no ENG root file as of yet.
Oh. Thank you, though!
Bumping this. Anyone know anything if something new came out of this bootloader?

Hey guys,
Can anyone guide me in the right direction to root my S7 Verizon variant? I've been reading lots of guides, articles and forums but most or all talk about using Android 6 or 7, and other articled talking about Android 8 aren't really clear, I was considering dowgrading to either Android 6 or 7 but would I be able to upgrade back to Android 8 with the modifications afterwards? I'd appreciate any help on this.
My device's info:
S7 SM-G930V
Android v: 8.0.0
Baseband v: G930VVRSBCTA1
Build #: R16NW.G930VVRSBCTA1
KNOX 3.1
Android Security Patch: Dec 01, 2019.
Thanks a lot in advance.

Im not entirly sure, but I think that the since there is a B in G930VVRSBCTA1, It is the B version of the bootloader and you may not be able to root it. If so, you and me both have the same issue. But, if I were you, just lurk around this end of the forum every now and then, and maybe someone will find something.

Yeah. Still kind of sucky that they lock things down like this. Also, downgrading doesn't work, because it uses that weird fuse system to make sure a bootloader/firmware goes below a certain version.

I didn't even know you could flash a custom ROM on this phone. Where did you find them? I thought that doing that wasn't possible because the bootloader acts up like a Karen at McDonalds.
Hi. Anyone have any updates to this thread? I have the exact specs on my S7 as OP. I moved service from Verizon to T-Mobile and having issues. I'd like to try to root to see if I can resolve issues some how but S7 seems to have been left in the cell phone graveyard. Not much out there any more past 2016-2017 on rooting, flashing ROM etc.
This has happened on every single ****ing piece of **** Verizon unlocked phone I've ever bought. Never again lol. Verizon can't be trusted with phones. This thing is impossible to root due to it's bit11/b11 locked bootloader, like usual with these asswipes. This started way back in Marshmallow Android VZW and I thought they would've quit doing this by now.
