I'm guessing this image was "leaked" to gauge interest in this device.
My guess is we'll see it,or,something very similar,@ CES 2017:

The phone will reportedly be produced through some as-of-yet unnamed third-party manufacturer -- possibly HTC -- and will feature Google branding. It'll use a Qualcomm chip, Kumor assures, and will be available before the end of the year.

Interesting to see what goodies it will bring. So much happening in the Android scene now with all this latest releases. What other surprises lay ahead?

well, it was always destined to come out before the end of the year, whether the article is correct about the October date is anyones guess.
People have already learned their lesson with how long it took Froyo to come out...
I wouldn't expect Gingerbread any earlier than December with the time Google needs to keep updating it before eventually releasing it.

Don't forget, Google did say that after Froyo they would begin a 6month till next update period, where updates wouldn't come out for 6 months. I figure June (when froyo was released) is 6 months from December so technically it still fits googles model.
It sucks how only specific phones are going to get the update

i think he meant older phones wont get it but that's understandable because 3.0 is said to bring GUI improvements which may need 1Ghz or above..
Gingerbread sounds delicious
The article repeats rumors knocked down by Dan Morrill
Re release date:
When will other Google products support WebM and VP8?
WebM support in Android is expected in the Gingerbread release (currently planned for Q4, 2010). We expect many other Google products to adopt WebM and VP8 as they prioritize it with their other product requirements. Keep an eye on the WebM blog for announcements.

actually they meant after gingerbread and its going to be yearly not 6 months
Well we might start seeing Gingerbread in October, but probably officially rolls out in December. Sounds about right.
Funny how the article lists phones which meet the requirements but neglect to include Google's Flagship Nexus One.
Currently there are only a handful of devices with these types of specifications, among them the Samsung Galaxy S and the HTC Desire.

Well those requirements are fake anyways, Google denied it directly, so I wouldn't care what phones they put in a list.
Hopefully October or sooner The Nexus should have no problem running it

I offer the mayan's a bit more credit than that.
maybe they will be announcing something cool about gingerbread on august 12th?

We won't see Gingerbread before December. I seriously doubt we'll see it this year. Likely January-February time frame.
What ever happened to the version 1.5 promised by B&N?

It was never promised by B&N. I was just a media rumor.

It may not have been promised, but it was more than a rumor. They had promotional materials all ready to go.

Source? I'll I've seen is articles that all lead back to a Techcrunch photo of a "leaked memo" with no mention of promotional materials.
I saw it here. I suppose it could be fake, but does that really happen?

That references the Techcrunch photo of a "leaked memo", not anything official that would be a "promise" from B&N nor any promotional materials. If you have ever worked for a big company you know that lots of ideas get floated around and taken to different stages of completion for discussion and approval. If the photo is real it could have been a draft someone prepared for a project proposal that never took off or got canned along the way. Or it could be fake. Some poeple do like to feed BS to the media. In any event there was no official B&N announcement therefore no promise to deliver any newer firmware by B&N.
Mark Twain said something like "If you don't read the newspaper you are uninformed. If you do read the newspaper you are misinformed." It applies just as well to modern digital media outlets. Don't believe rumors published in the media.

Im very waiting a higher android version for my reader, the 2.1 android a little bit old.

This may be good news for B&N moving forward with updating the devices.

Found this article through Android Authority, https://www.mysmartprice.com/gear/2...phones-android-8-0-oreo-update-official-list/
It says that Phase 1 of some rollout (Global or China only) of EMUI 8 for the P9 will start on June 30. And it also confirms that the Honor 8 will recieve the update soon, and because we got Nougat at about the same time as the P9 last year, I think that we will also get Oreo at about the same time. So if we're lucky it might start rolling out phase 1 next week. It might still be released in China only but then we shouldn't have to wait much longer before an actual global release.
The only limitation is that it's only going to be for 20000 users in the first phase, but the fact that it will release soon is still good news if true.
French article about it. Says it launches tommorow!

yeah but probably china rollout, the global rollout will surely take a while. Still nice to see that something is happening
Maybe it will not be tomorrow.
Got some info by the French team, it's more complicated to make the update on Honor 8 and they are waiting the info about it.
I'll update when i'll get more about it.
I saw an article that the global rollout starts from tomorrow for a couple of devices. However, it said that for example P9 would get it before Honor 8.

Are you hinting that Bigfoot isn't real? And that Trump isn't a lizard person?
I have seen Bigfoot and I am positive it exists.
Also, a recent study by the Lizard Person Research Association has shown that Trump is a lizard person with definite evidence.

It makes absolutely no sense at all, but it does because I say so.
Trump already has an Android Q then. Lol.
Trump is a lizard person, soI'm confused?
I'm any case, the release version of 520 for a bunch of versions of the non-US Honor 8 it's up in Firmware Finder. They still haven't rolled out the June update that's sitting on the servers in the US, so Good knows when we'll get it here.
Also, I guess tech support still doesn't know what they're talking about, ever?
