Quick conundrum...
Rooted my 32bg Nexus7 a couple of days ago using the Nexus 7 toolkit.
I have an unlocked bootloader and CWM recovery installed . i did the all in option in the toolkit..
Just installed Titaanium backup, and it says i'm not rooted??
Root check says i am rooted !
Busybox says i'm not rooted
Superuser fails on updating binary (root acess)
So the 64K question..
Am i rooted or not?
if not ,how do i root properly?
Mart
Srsly? Please go back and root it manually. It will work.

flash this in your recovery http://download.chainfire.eu/282/SuperSU/CWM-SuperSU-v0.98.zip
your problem is that you used the rootkit on a nexus device. theres no need for that.

fastboot oem unlock, fastboot flash a custom recovery, flash either the su binaries or a custom rom in your new recovery, reboot. that is all.
all you need to do is have the drivers and fastboot installed http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1741395
If you go to terminal emulator and type in su, does the $ change to a #?
Sent from my Nexus 7
If you have access to directories like /system and /dev, you're rooted. If not, you're not. Skipsoft's Nexus 7 Toolkit works well. Just redo the root steps, watch for error messages, and use Super SU (not SuperUser), and you'll be fine.
This happened to me too so I re rooted it manually. I just followed this link:
http://forums.androidcentral.com/ne...1477-guide-nexus-7-factory-image-restore.html
Wow this is getting confusing... ive got two or more guides open both with varying methods and files to install..
if i download the new SU files and reroot, then it wipes all files ? so how does having the SU work
As to reflashing a new binary, thats what i dont want, i just want a stock set up thas rooted.
Also re terminal? it that putty ? and go into the device that way?
Mart
all the binary will do is give you root/su, that is what you want. no more, no less. youll need the supersu app too, to grant su.

flash it in your custom recovery and reboot. you do have cwm recovery installed as i understand, right? that su binary is the most recent. you dont want su(superuser) you want the supersu app.

Hey all, I'm fairly new to rooting an android device, this is actually the first time I'm rooting my phone. I used Wugs Nexus root toolkit to root my device and everything went well until the last step where I had to go open superSU app. I would get a popup stating "There is no SU binary installed, and SuperSu cannot install it. This is a problem! If you just upgraded to Android 4.3, you will need to manually re-root counsult the relevant forums for your device!"
What does this mean exactly? and where did i go wrong? I honestly don't have an idea on how to manually re-root.
Through the toolkit I've unrooted, flashed stocked and did the OEM lock again, and tried the whole rooting process again and I still get that same error. I think I need some guidance if you guys can help me a bit. Sorry to be a big noob about all this.
Thanks!

Updated CF-autoroot with latest Supersu binaries and combined TWRP recovery for SM-T800/SM-T805/T700/T705 Exynos only, Lollipop and Kitkat
I've noticed that quite a number of people seeking to root their device also flash TWRP afterwards, seeing as it's unnecessary to do both steps I have made an all in one package to root and install TWRP recovery.
Cf-autoroot has been updated with the latest Supersu binaries and TWRP has been updated with my fixed version (ADB root shell and Download mode fixes).
UPDATE - I have updated all versions with new builds. TWRP is now v2.8.6.2 and now includes the fixes recently pushed to their repo for encrypted backups. I have also addressed the slow wipe issue, cache, system, etc., which some have experienced and should now be much quicker.
Each device now has it's own build, this is to ensure that TWRP recovery build properties reflect the device it's installed on. ROMs such as CM12 should now install without issue.
Feedback is welcome.
Simply flash with ODIN. Odin 10.6
cf-autoroot-twrp-t700
cf-autoroot-twrp-t705
cf-autoroot-twrp-t800
cf-autoroot-twrp-t805

Guide how to flash, credit to Usama m.
http://techbeasts.com/2015/05/01/root-twrp-recovery-galaxy-tab-s-84-running-lollipop-502/
UPDATED TWRP:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3074633
NOTE: It is important to boot to recovery after flashing or twrp may not stick and will be replaced with stock recovery.
When flashing uncheck auto reboot in Odin, immediately after flashing manually reboot and boot into twrp.
Manual reboot is POWER + HOME +VOL DOWN then as soon as the screen goes blank immediately change to VOL UP whilst still holding the other buttons.
Credits to chainfire for his great work.

Unfortunately AT&T lock the bootloader, so atm you're stuck with a device that cannot be modified in any way.

After using the app with odin, root checker indicates that "Root access not properly configured or granted".
Root question comes up but can not check the box to allow.
Had an issue like this on a different device and it was corrected when I changed to ART, but do not know where it is in 5.0.2?
Just tried TWRP, and it is allowed.

Looks like you are rooted but are not granting root permission when asked.
Is the post below any solution to your problem?

If you still have problems you could open the Super su app and change in settings to 'Grant' root access by default.

Hello,i got a new phone and i immideatly wanted to root it beacuse of blootware etc. open uped odin and downloaded cf-auto root.tar for THIS phone and flashed it,pass showed up got the super su and i get into super su and it asks for me to update the binary,ok nothing to suprising but it says it didnt flash and i should reebot reeboted, tryed again nothing (yes i did try several cf-auto root.tar files to download)
I rooted with CF-Root and I can tell you that it is working like a charm!! There are two methods to update the binary: letting SuperSU install it on \system\something or flash it trought the recovery. Try both methods and let me know of it worked.
Good luck

Lol... I don't even have a G4, I currently have a G3, its the same way on that one, I just came here to check out the community when I saw how cheap they were on Amazon... I will do a quick tutorial making some basic assumptions about the G4 and it's similarity to other handsets
BTW, the systemless method is not new or exclusive to Moto... The info is out there if you know what to look for.

I know it isn't, but if you don't do systemless on the G4 it fails to boot. I'm seeing a lot of people saying to flash new firmware or a system partition. All you need to do is run your code in the TWRP terminal and reflash superSU and it boots fine.

will it erase all your data after rooting using this method?
i got twrp recovery, then use it for long time (or long enough to have filled so many files). if the root will erase all internal, i have to think about it. another question is about the OTA. can we get any OTA updates in the future after TWRP/rooting?
