Is there a way to adjust the default vibration of the navigation buttons? All I see in settings is an option to enable/disable vibration. I have root and Xposed so if there's a way to do it through that I'd love to know. Thanks in advance.
No one? I can't believe no one complains about this. The lowest keyboard vibration on Gboard (1ms) is way too strong!! Navkeys vibration is too rough as well.

True, wish it would be less strong
I've been a long-time user of PBMC xposed module, and app that allows you to map any hardware key (even virtual navbar) to perform any desired action. You can set custom vibration or even led/sound notification everytime you trigger an individual action.
Adjusting the vibration to 10ms makes no difference on the capacitive buttons: phone vibrates as strong as always, but if you set it to 100ms it will vibrate longer.
However, setting the vibration to 0ms still makes the capacitive buttons to vibrate although this module is supposed to override the "original key" function and hence its vibration lenght too. At least that's how it worked on both my previous LG G2 and Galaxy Note 4.
In other words, as long as "vibrate on touch" is enabled on the settings, the vibration will last ZTE's hardcoded? time no matter you try reducing or disabling it through xposed. (Same thing happening with Google keyboard when you set key press vibration to the minimum value of 1ms). If "vibrate on touch" is disabled and you use PBMC, you get 0 vibration if vibration time is 0ms, but you still get too much vibration if it's set to 10ms (minimum value on this app)...
It's the thing that I dislike the most about this phone. It's minimum value of vibration is too strong and it's audible, it makes a cheap sound. Still can't believe so few people comment on this.

Hi there
Am I missing something or is there no way to turn off the vibrations when using the on screen buttons? I'm sure on most phones it's under the sound menu....
You weren't wrong; it is in Sounds. Look for the "Vibrate on tap" option in the Other Sounds submenu.

Got it, thanks. I don't really understand why the vibrate on touch option is under "Sounds", let alone hidden away in "Other Sounds" !
I have every setting I can find set to not vibrate and yet it still does. Is there truly no way to make it stop? I would like to find the software equivalent of "snip the wire to the haptic vibrator". Stupid waste of energy.

When is it still vibrating? 3rd party keyboards are common sources of this, they usually default to enabled.

Every time I touch the button. I don't use the fingerprint scanner and use the "one button nav" feature, and that setting is set to not vibrate also. Every time I touch it - lock, unlock, swipe left, right - it vibrates.
Does anyone else feel like the alert slider is disappointing? I like the feature, but the settings for them are very restrictive. The silent and DND setting is different from what I assumed. They should have given us total freedom to customize it. Mine would be like:
Silent
Alarm sound optional
options to set volume silders
a timeout setting (to prevent phones getting lost forever when on silent)
DND
Alarm default on
Reminders/Events sounds optional
System sounds silent by default
Ring
This one is actually fine But they should allow us to set ringer all the way to vibate
Can anyone think of a workaround to customize the sliders?
Generally, I agree with you. A lot more customization would greatly benefit this feature, and I hope to see a way to change it on a rooted(/maybe future xposed, maybe?) I've gotten used to it, but I'd like to be able to set the phone to vibrate without sliding it to silent. For me I'd like it to be possible to change a profile, and have those settings come back when you switch to it. In fact, they could make the profiles have arbitrary names that can be set, and with all settings available for each. I'd want it like:
Silent:
Everything but alarms off.
Vibrate:
Like silent is now, but media not silent (yes I know you can change media settings)
Ring:
Like it is now.
It's the lack of customization that bothers me. I wouldn't call it a letdown, it's still useful, and I've gotten used to it, but it's not the way I'd ideally like it. Also, AFAIK, you can't control it like you can with no hardware using Tasker.
Coming from similar experience in the past with OP3 and OP3T I am very optimistic that our great developers will come up with all kind of solutions. Given the hot discussions everywhere its easy to forget that this phone is only available since a week (and in hands of most persons since much less)....
Just add a vibrate option to the DND mode! Then it would be ring, vibrate/priority, silent...customizable however is preferred.
Does anyone know if there's any way around the silent mode thing using Tasker? I know it's linked to the slider but I want to automate it.
I have a profile in Tasker that is supposed to set the phone to silent mode when I have a meeting scheduled. It works fine, has always done, until I got the OnePlus.
What happens is that when my "In a meeting"-profile in Tasker triggers (and my phones hardware trigger is set to Ring), Tasker tries to set the volume to 0 but since the Ring mode prevents it the volume only goes down to 1 (out of 7 steps).
I'm on OOS and rooted with Magisk.
UPDATE:
So Elsydeon tipped me of an app called "Sound Profile +volume schedule" which actually managed to change the volume to 0 in my phone when I applied the apps "silent" profile!
One step closer!
I still have to make this happen in Tasker though...
I however am not that clever at Tasker (yet) that I can figure out what this app called on to make this happen.
But I'm hoping that some of you smart guys and girls here might know.
I do not think it is possible, but it would be useful.
Bye
I'd recommend an app called Sound Profile. The UI is rather amateurish, but the customization options for setting up ringing profiles is very deep, and you can schedule as well.
Have you tried "Automate it" - look in the play store for it. Seems to be very flexible.
This actually works!!! Somehow it hooks into the right command and makes the phone go to volume 0 while the switch is in the Ring position!
I need to find what it hooks into and add that to my Tasker automation.
Hello.
We have the function "Do Not Disturb", that silent phone calls. This function don't disable notifications sounds or camera shutter, like mutting the phone.
Is there a way to mute ALL sounds, including notifications and other sounds, in a programmable way like "do not disturb"?
I tried some apps like "Automate It" and "Droid Automation", but they don't work as expected.
Thanks in advice.
As you may have noticed, pressing the volume - key only carries you to vibration mode. To enable the mute, you have to open the quick settings pane and click on the speaker icon. It will alternate between sound, vibration and mute. The only volume it doesn't mute is the alarm sound, but it is understandable.

Yeah, I know that, but I wanna a way to do this in a programmable way, like we can do with "do not disturb". This function is activated in a configurable hour and duration, but it don't disable notification sounds!

The only thing you can do is to mute the phone during a certain time. I don't know if in Do not disturb settings you can silence notifications, maybe in the Allow exceptions menu. But I'm not sure, I've never used that feature

Notifications aren't muted with this feature, i already tested.

I don't know any way to do that, hopefully with Android O update they improve Do not disturb
My phone has no camera shutter sound when it's on vibrate mode and silent mode. No notification sound unless I enable the sound mode.
Is there a way to customize the alert slider on the 6T? I know that there was a Xposed module that allowed for it but nothing in Magisk or the likes. Wasn't sure if someone knew of a way to or if we could manually do it directly from the phone.
I'd like to change vibrate to DND as I use that more then vibrate.
You can try with Tasker, create event Custom settings; Global; three_Key_mode to detect slider position and task to set dnd.
three_Key_mode:
1 - silent
2 - vibration
3 - ring

Hmm....that is an option. I'll have to look at that tonight. Will keep people posted. Thank you.
Other options are welcome as well.
That works for adding additional alert slider behavior, but the built in OOS behavior applies too, and I can't find a way to disable it, even with root.
For example, I want the center position on the slider to be DND in priority only mode, with ringer on. Tasker does the former, but the OS still forces the ringer on vibrate in that switch position.
I know this is an old thread, but hope someone has the answer?
EDIT: I see hardware keys maps in /system/usr/keylayout/gpio-keys.kl, but not for the slider
