my brother used my axon 7 temporarily and added his account.
but after he returning it to me he factory reset it.
now that I am trying to set it up again, it keeps asking to verify the last account logged in.
so we logged in with his account and it won't work
is there anyway we can bypass this, or maybe downgrade to factory image? I downloaded the stock 2017U firmware and put in an SD card, however using stock recovery I cannot upgrade/downgrade firmware.
please advise

Try a FAT32 formatted sd card - 32gb or less is natively that.
The file goes onto the sd card and is renamed "update.zip".
Go to recovery, wipe data and flash update from sd card. This should fix it...
Just as a reminder, EVERYTHING you want to keep, BACKUP first...

My suggestion would be install TWRP, wipe EVERYTHING, then use the TWRP flashable zips for B29

shut off phone.
hold both volume buttons (with the phone still off) and plug in usb cable (while still holding both buttons).
Go to your device manager and see the com port used for Qualcomm

if ur able to boot to recovery u can get it bak dont worry! just hold down power button and volume down till the device comes into fast boot. and if ur stuck at the logo and not able to shut down (by removing the battery on other phones) just hold down power button and volume down button for a while i think its 5 seconds but it could be a little more not sure. hold it down till u boot into fast boot and in fast boot u can shut it down or enter the recovery.
and since u say ur device is new n if u dont hav much data then u will be able to simple flash the stock rom and hav a fresh new device.
use this toolbox it'll help u do everything. but im not very sure u might loose all the data on it

i can not enter fastboot - if i held power button and volume - it only wake up and show Google logo - and after 15 SECOND OF HELDING - GO TO apx MODE

If you can go into the bootloader, go to recovery and flash CleanROM or CM10.2 or even a 4.2.2 ROM. Seems to be your only option now. Also flash an appropriate kernel for the ROM right after the flash.
Try a dirty flash at first.
i can - it freeze on logo and reboot after pressing on power and volume

yes i can get into bootloader and recovery. and i hav a few questions...
1. if i flash another rom will my files on the virtual sd in the internal memory get wiped?
2. there is option for backup in TWRP recovery i can backup DATA SYSTEM CACHE and usb otg.
after flashing a new rom can i restore the backup for DATA and get bak the apps?
3. is there any way i can copy the files in the internal memory saved in the virtual SD to my comp or anywhere else through recovery or bootloader? 4. there is an option for factory reset in TWRP recovery which says it will clear data and wipe cache and will not clear internal data. i just want to be sure if the files in the virtual sd wont get deleted if i do this? and by using this factory reset option will i be able to fix the problem?

1. If by virtual sd you mean Internal Storage (the place where you copy files to normally via PC), no. It won't wipe anything there.
2. Although this is possible, it is highly discouraged.
3. From bootloader or recovery you can try adb pull to grab a backup of your sdcard's contents. Don't do this unless you are 100% sure you know what you are doing.

and by virtual sd i meant the internal storage where we copy files from the comp sorry i didnt know how to descirbe it...
and no im not so good at adb so ill avoid tht since u told nothing in the internal memory gets wiped
Go to TWRP>Wipe. And then just swipe. Don't try Advanced or Internal Storage or whatever there is. Should do the job.

im so sorry one last question. if i factory reset n restore only data to get bak the apps.. if it works well n good if it doesnt ill factory reset again.. but does restoring data cause damage tht could brick my device?
If you factory reset, only stuff in /data will get wiped (game saves etc.) Not your sdcard stuff though.
And restoring a data backup from a different ROM may lead to bootloops.

Here is my problem.
My son died in a jeep accident in July of this year. He had a Samsung Galaxy S5. I was unable to guess the pattern or the pin. I only have 2 attempts left before it automatically factory resets and wipes itself. I am not yet prepared to lose all the pictures, etc. by attempting to guess using the last two. I will wait until some one of you geniuses figure a way to help folks like me out.
So, in all my searching of the archives did I miss my answer or is the phone a paperweight until someone figures out a way in.
Thank you in advance for your help.
Dave
Also, he didn't have a google account that I know of. I shut off his account before realizing it might have helped me to leave it on. And he didn't, that I can discover, have a Samsung account. It was with Verizon. No sd card.
I can access my sdcards in twrp recovery via pc even w/pin security enabled.
search for installing twrp via odin if its not already installed, you can also copy everything via adb but need to read on its use.
or if not willing to learn bring it to a service center they should be able to do it
my condolances
Hello bro,
I am sorry for hear that
You need only to flash TWRP recovery by Odin (see YT for how to flash).
Before flash TWRP make sure that you installed Ur phone drivers on PC + ADB shell
(I advice U to install 15 sec ADB program Instade of Android SDK.
After flash recovery reboot to recovery by Press power, home and volume up button.
After reboot 2 recovery connect Ur S5 to PC and now you allowed access files by PC.
Another method:
Do all steps above but when U reboot to recovery go to Wipe then advanced wipe then select cache, dalvic cache and data
Then swipe to wipe.
Reboot Ur phone and then wait for 20-25 min, the phone will format but without wipe the internal storage and U will not lose Ur files

Flashing TWRP assumes he has a 15' eMMC and root. Getting root would wipe all data if the eMMC checks out first. To get adb he needs to enable that first in developer settings and he can't do that without the pin.
His best bet is to attempt reading the external SD card for pictures first. If you're lucky it won't be encrypted. If it is encrypted, get TWRP on there and put the card in and I am pretty sure it will decrypt using the default password. If you do put TWRP on there, you would lose all internal data though and any pictures on the phone itself.

please bro could u tell me more about this way
First, go to the link provided https://samsungodin.com/ I would download V310.6 personally.. It must be run in a Windows Enviorment IE. Win 7, Win 10 etc. Put you phone into download mode Volume down, home button, the power button all at the same time. Plug your USB cable into a USB port on your computer, and plug in your phone. Unzip Odin, then open and right click Icon, and run as administrator.. Put TWRP. zip in the AP slot. Under options in Odin uncheck reboot and reset, hit the start. When it says pass, unplug your phone, pull battery. But battery back in. Then hold Volume up, home, and the power button, and your phone will start in TWRP recovery.

TWRP is the custom recovery you flash in Odin, to replace stock recovery. You need that to install custom roms and mods.
Go to this link https://dl.twrp.me/klte/ I would download 3.0.2-1-ktle.img.tar. to your desktop. Open up Odin uncheck reset, and reboot. Place phone in download mode Volume down+home+power. Open up Odin choose AP find your file and insert, then hit start. When done pull battery, but battery back in then Volume up+Home+Power and you will boot into recovery.

Flash TWRP first in Odin.. Then what ever Rom you use, will already have root (some dev's might require you to install root as well separate from the ROM you use).. Put the ROM of your choice on your External SD card. Go to recovery wipe cache dalvik/cache, system, data, internal storage. This is why you but the ROM of your choice on a External sd card, because you will wipe the internal storage. Flash ROM and reboot.. Now of course follow the dev's install instructions, as you might have to do something different. But that is usually the normal process to flash a custom ROM.

If you do not use those app, I just uninstall them period, through Titanium Back Up and Root.. Better yet you really should try flashing a custom rom, you won't have all that garbage.. I'm using this one
https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s5/unified-development/rom-crdroid-t2860894
It runs great.. Give me a minute, I going to upload the files you need, so you do not have to go through the trouble of downloading them..

Put all three files on your external sd card.. Do a full wipe, data, system, cache, delvik/cache
1) Install the rom first (do not reboot yet)
2) Install gapps (do not reboot yet)
3) Then install SuperSu- reboot, and set up normal.
Be sure to give proper credit to the crdroid team..
So I have a Samsung Galaxy J5 SM-J500F which suddenly refused to boot in any way (normal, recovery, download). I booted TWRP from external SD card but it shows Internal Storage (0 MB). Can't mount or do anything. Is there something to do or is it a hardware issue?

I can't. Everything that I am flashing through Odin goes into the external SD card. For the example, tried to flash TWRP and it flashed onto the external SD card. And I cannot go into download mode without the external SD card. Trying to remove it before pressing volume up to confirm makes Odin say no PIT file found and when I flash the PIT it gives error.

The only way to restore the phone is by flashing stock firmware in odin.
Twrp and everything else will go to the SD card only the stock firmware will flash to the phone.
Enter download mode WITH the SD card in and go through the steps on Odin to flash stock firmware and absolutely nothing else, no twrp, no custom firmware it has to be 100% pure stock rom or it will flash to the SD card and not internal storage.
Stock firmware contains the necessary PIT files and everything so don't try flashing different PIT files.
This is the only method to restore the device

Dont put twrp on the SD card.
Boot into download and just flash stock.
Once the device is restored do what you want and install twrp and whatever you want but don't do it at the start.
You wont be able to restore unless everything is stock

What version you trying to flash?
Marshmallow or lollipop.
Try flashing the other one if it fails on one

Thats strange.
You're sure its not hardware related?
The only thing I can think of now is to try with different versions of the stock rom (different country firmware)
Like you came this far we must be able to fix it.
Im going to do a bit of reading about the issue now and see if there is anything you can try

I don't know. This is the story of how it got bricked:
Powered it on some days ago and it showed the Samsung logo with the "odin mode" text in the top-left corner. I thought I accidentally entered download mode so I held down volume down+power until the screen turned black. And after that it didn't boot at all until I managed to make this bootable SD card.
What I find strange is that Odin keeps flashing on my SD card instead of the internal storage. If I enter download mode then remove the SD card and try to flash via Odin it complains that no PIT partition was found. If I have TWRP installed on the SD card, download mode says "CURRENT BINARY: Custom" but as soon as I try to flash via Odin the official recovery.img (it flashes before it hangs at system.img.ext4) and restart the phone it says "CURRENT BINARY: Samsung Official". Also if I power it on from the SD card normally or in recovery it shows the blue screen that wants me to connect to Smart Switch but the app does not recognize the phone.
Another thing is that if I reboot into download mode with the SD card but only press power up to confirm after I remove the SD card the first thing to show in the top-left corner is "ddi: mmc_read_failed" and if I try to flash with Odin, Odin says no PIT partition found and the phone shows in the top-left corner the last line as "ODIN : flash read failure".
If I power it on without the SD card it doesn't do anything, not even vibrate.

From TWRP recovery wipe everything until it shows no OS installed... Then flash any stock rom... Marshmallow will be nice as it is latest update

I can't wipe because I can't mount the internal storage.

Wipe a bricked device? What? He already said his internal storage is showing 0MB so how is he supposed to wipe nothing?

Can you wipe or reset again using Samsung Smart Switch or Kies? Or maybe you can try to install new os from there... Meanwhile We will check something else to solve this

Navigate to Wipe > Advance Wipe > Data, and choose Repair or Change File System.Press Repair File System to see if this fixes the issue. If not, continue.Press Change File System, choose Ext2, and swipe to confirm. Now switch back to Ext4 and swipe to confirm.Go back to TWRP main menu, then the Mount menu, and check if your partitions can be mounted now.
These actions r possible?
Can anyone help, I rooted my phone last year and installed TWRP as part of the process, I did a backup at the time which I have on my SD card
the phone is stuck in the TWRP recovery mode, I can restore from my backup and it goes through fine but then goes back into recovery mode.
This all started when I tried to reset the phone back to factory defaults. I guess I wiped everything. Has anyone got any ideas how to get out of this.
I am not too familiar with TWRP, if anyone could point me in the right direction with a simple step by step guide it would be most appreciated.

I did try that, I found a ROM j510fnxxs2aq14_j510fndbt2aq14_dbt.zip with size of 1,379,794Kb
when I tried to install it I get a failure could not find META-INF/com/google/android/update-binary in the zip file
Error installing zip file /external_sd/j510fnxxs2aq14_j510fndbt2aq14_dbt.zip
Which is why I asked for a bit more detailed advice on my problem. If you could point me in the direction of a suitable
ROM for my device which will work I would appreciate it.

I have tried several custom roms non of which work. What I don't understand is why when I restore from my one and only backup
it all goes through ok the size is 6036MB it reports restoring 7 partitions
then restoring boot then restoring data, at the end of it I get restore ok then it goes back to the TWRP recovery screen.

Is your stock rom android 5 by any chance?
I don't know what my stock rom is, I can't access anything on my phone apart from the TWRP recovery screen
I do have another SM-J510FN which was bought at the same time which hasn't been rooted running Android 7.1.1
I don't know if that would help to determine what the stock rom is.

Sorry I misread the thread I thought it was 2015 model.
So what exactly did you do? Step by step.
Did you wipe anything in twrp?

I went into the TWRP recovery mode then to Wipe hoping to do a factory reset, that went through ok and came back into the TWRP recovery mode
I then tried Advanced wipe and ticked all the boxes except micro SD card. Nothing could get me out of the recovery mode so then I tried a restore from
an old backup and that seemed to go through ok, but it still came back to the recovery mode.
If it was me, I would remove the back cover and via TWRP menu turn off phone.
As soon as the screen goes black, remove battery.
Insert battery and power on and see what happens.
Have you tried that? Or how do you turn it off?

Many times
Okay... when screen goes black have you tried to quickly start pressing the key combination to enter download mode?
For my J500 it's Volume down + Home key + Power (keep pressing until download screen appears) should be same for J510.
If you can enter download you have the option to use Odin and flash either a stock ROM or a newer Recovery.
If you want, you could:
Advance wipe, everything except SD card and OTG Usb. (How much was backed up? Did you tick all boxes?)
Format Data
Restore backup from SD card again
Advance wipe, tick only 2 boxes, Dalvik + Cache
Restart
Report back
Oh, and just to clarify... when you manually go to Restart in TWRP, no matter what option you choose, the phone restarts into TWRP again?
Bare with me, I'm trying to understand and help.
Thats the problem, I can't get out of the TWRP recovery mode so am not able to use Odin, I presume when I did my original backup
I didn't tick all the boxes because it goes through a recovery with no problem I presume the boot sector is missing.
From the TWRP recovery mode I am able to go to install and select a previously downloaded file but then it fails.
I have searched for a suitable ROM to download but am struggling to find one for my phone
Ok, what TWRP version do you have?

You can update your TWRP with a newer version from here:
https://twrp.me/samsung/j5xnlte.html
(Carefully check that I linked to your model!)
.img is what you want to put in your phone. BUT... I haven't done this myself, so it's your call.
In TWRP you choose to install img and locate the file on your SD card.
My thought is that your TWRP is too old for the ROMs you have tried... (anyone please correct me if I'm wrong).

I have the TWRP image file 3.4.0-0 which partition should I be flashing it to Boot or Recovery?
I would hate kill it after getting this far.

You can. There is an option to reboot download mode from twrp (might be reboot bootloader)
That will put the device into download mode and you can flash with Odin.
Alternatively you could go to advanced wipe and wipe everything like you already did and then just flash a custom ROM. You wiped everything you said and then tried to reboot. That's why it went to twrp because you wiped system, there is no system to boot anymore.

Wow, that worked, I updated the version of TWRP and then installed a ROM that I downloaded "resurrectionremix-5.8.4-20190821"
and all seems to be working, both sims are recognised and operational all I need now is to get my head around the UI apart from that everything seems
good. Thank you everybody who helped me through this. I almost got to the point of binning an otherwise good phone.
Once again a big thankyou to everyone.
