mi 5s not work with T-Mobile 4g/ LTE - Xiaomi Mi 5s Guides, News, & Discussion

If u r a T-Mobile user, please be attention that mi 5s and mi 5s plus are both not work on T-Mobile 4g/ LTE band.
The mi 5s can only work on H+, and the signal is not stable.
If u r going to get the mi phones, please take care of that.

And in which country is that?

in the following link you can check if will work or not

U.S.
T mobile uses band 2/4/12 and mi 5s does not support those bands

Ah ok, just asked about country because T-Mobile is actually a product from German Telecom and was founded in Germany But yeah, if no bands are supported, it's a bit sad. Only upside, you can save some power by disabling 4G in the mobile settings.

the official team keep ignoring my unlock bands requests, anyone have ideas to unlock the bands?

So far there is no way to unlock the bands. I guess that's why they ignore you until they have found a working way.

Unlock FDD LTE Band 20 on OnePlus 2?

Hello,
I received my Oneplus 2 today and it does not support the LTE Band 20. It`s the chinese Version and i would like to ask if anyone figured out a method to unlock the LTE Band 20. It`s because the Hardware of the Oneplus Chinese version is the same like the European version.

Sounds like the OPO all over again. Remember seeing varying reports of success with that.

Actually it seems it is not same hardware. The modem is propably different.
It is also clearly stated that the Chinese version doesn't have Band 20

Using NA Version In Japan

So I live Tokyo Japan. I would easily buy the Japanese version, but the the price is rape city at ¥74,000. Does anyone know if the North American version will work in Japan? The NA version even at proper dollar conversion is at only ¥59,000 yen.
Anyone?
Yes and no. It lacks most of the LTE bands used so you may not get LTE in Japan. But you might, and sometimes people figure out how to enable extra bands so there's that. If I were you though I wouldn't count on it working on LTE, but that's just me.
What carrier do you have, I could tell you a bit more if you tell me.
Edit: never mind see you have DoCoMo. Like I said in the other thread, you only would get band 3, not sure if they have band 3 in Tokyo.

I see ou can help about it
I have ordered the US version (as I have a friend in us right now) and I live in Israel
I had no idea there are us version and global version
Will US version work in Israel? how can I check it, I tried to see in willmyphonework.net but I cant find Nexus 6p there
as per wikipedia (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_LTE_networks) Israel uses band 3for LTE.
as per google (https://store.google.com/product/nexus_6p)
The american version has band 3, so it should work.

Trying to unlock bands (e.g. LTE Band 4, 20, 28)

As you might know, the Mi 6 was announced today. The specs look great for the price (see http://www.pcadvisor.co.uk/new-product/mobile-phone/xiaomi-mi6-news-release-date-price-features-specifications-3653263/) and I thought I finally found the phone I really wanted.
But then the old story hit me again. No support for LTE band 20. As I live in Germany this means no matter what provider I have, I will be affected with less LTE coverage.
So I created this thread to gather any news that involve the possibility and efforts of unlocking the LTE band 20 on the Mi 6.
I hope there are maybe similarities with the ongoing efforts of unlocking the bands of the Mi 5 (http://en.miui.com/thread-242834-1-1.html or here https://forum.xda-developers.com/mi-5/how-to/progress-trying-to-unlock-bands-t3337476).
When the Mi 6 is shipped, I hope this will get some attention and we may find a way to unlock it together. :fingers-crossed:
I have the Mi Note Pro and I never spotted anyone succeeding in unlocking band 20.
I live in France and band 20 is one of the 3 main bands but I never suffered any need for band 20. I even had a Sony Z5 premium which had all French bands and I had to switch to 3g because it wouldn't receive well when I am in bed.
Depending on your carrier if you have just another band and live in a city, not having band 20 is not a deal breaker in my humble opinion.
If you really need it I wouldn't wait for sure for a way to unlock band 20.
Mi6 can work with AT&T network?

Yes that is a valid point. As I live in Berlin I won't have any problems here. But since I travel around a lot for work countryside coverage would be a good benefit. But as you mentioned band 20 won't stop me from getting the Mi6.
This thread is just if anybody comes up with a good idea on how this could be done. Just as a 'bonus'.
The most active in unlocking lte bands are people in the OnePlus forum as far as I know.

Because it needs to do a lot, such as patents, internal structure, and so on.
Maybe Xiaomi note3 will behave better.
Band 20 in mi5 CAN NOT be unlocked. It is hardware limited. Please read thread mi5, page 76.
You only need schematic diagram, then you can see.

It depends on power amplifier and rf modules. In some case it can be unlocked with software or hardware changing.
If somebody find which power amplifier and rf modul are used in mi6, let me known, i tell you if unlock possible.

But still shouldn't the network setup be kept stock... I mean why waster resources on a freaking modem... When u can divert them to something else....
And if I am not wrong Qualcomm gives the chipset/modem with all the bands unlocked.. quite like apple .. hence making s truly global phone

You could say the same for Oneplus's global and China variant. They must have their reasons. I'm sure everyone, let alone, Xiaomi, know that they don't benefit for locking the bands. So, there's no point speculating on why and rather to just accept the obvious that it was not for the US market or any other country that It's not being sold officially.

mi A1 models 4G

How many models are there of the Xiaomi my A1?
I'm from Mexico, and the band to 4G is "B4, but in some stores (for example Gearbest), not have the "B4" and in other stores (Geekbuying, AliExpress) have the band "B4". In all's says "Global version". Exist a model that not have de band "B4"?

If you buy the global version like I did you will have b4 4g, but you need to install your compatible b4 sim before turn it on for the first time, and you need to select "Español (México)" to have b4 band, if you choose another languaje, even other spanish version you will only have 3g.

But can you change the language after that or you need to keep it in Español always in order for the 4G to be available ?

Happy to say mine has 4G on Cricket Wireless. Global version bought on Gearbest. Cricket throttles to about 8mbits anyway.
Mine has a sticker on the box that says "Global". The manual that it came with doesn't say there is a Band 4...but there is. I'm seeing 22Mbps with an unloaded network.

Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 5G on T-Mobile and unlock 5G bands if possible...

Hi I am interested in buying the Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 5g mainly because T-Mobile is going live with 5g where I live on Decemeber 6th 2019. But from what I know the this phone doesn't support the 5g bands for T-Mobile.
I heard that there is a way to unlock those bands on Qualcomm devices and this phone uses the Snapdragon SOC.
Can this be done?

So the bands for 5g that tmobile supports is not dependent on just the processor, its also dependent on what the manufacturer decides on. As with all phones, you need to see what is the most compatible cell phone provider for that phone. If the mi mix 3 does not support tmobile bands, there's no way to force it to.

Correct. I've had a discussion on a Mi Mix 3 5g thread where this guy says it's a update thing not a hardware thing. Which I feel he's clearly wrong. Cell bands have nothing to do with updates, it's a hardware thing.
Dear slimegpod,
The frequency is supported in hardware but we did trials and only the Vodafone and global rom version has the Vodafone de 5g Network activated.
So I am on eu rom and cannot use Vodafone de 5g only Telekom and I am planning to switch ROMs but waiting for a moment to unlock since I will lose all my data.

Carrier Support Not needed for mi mix 3 5g
Dear slimegood,
I called my carrier and the result was that they communicated the values to connect to the 5g network to Xiaomi and they need to add it to their firmware. The problem being that some variants of the firmware have not picked up the configuration options.

Any luck? The phone does not support 5G out of the box. According to manufacturers website, "5G function will be available via OTA update. Update times depend on your specific carrier and network."
Let us know if you find a way to do it without the OTA update.

There should be a option under network settings. I it seems the development for this device is crap though (as far as the updates are concerned). It sucks it's on MIUI v10 which I understand why but they still should've had this figured out before releasing it.
Thanks.
Well thanks for the feedback, if the firmware gets released somebody let me know. I really like the phone, but compatibility with USA 5g is really important to me.
i dont think it will ever get 5g support in the states - it uses a different 5g tech than what the us telecoms are proceeding with as far as i was told.
Stating that - i use it on t-mobile and i get great 4g in most places.
