I am interested in high quality bluetooth audio and aptX /aptX HD are preferred codec protocols for that. Now that Qualcomm acquired CSR, they own the aptX technology. On their web page there is an aptX compatibility link, where, for Motorola Phones we can see listed Moto G and Moto X, but the pictures are from the first generation phones.
For "aptX HD" I found only the latest flagship LG phones and Luna.
I wonder if there is a way to add aptX codec support to the G4 phones.

The Qualcomm Website, LG website (for the Optimus G), Google's Nexus 4 website, nor any reviews I've found thus far, have mentioned exactly what audio/video the Snapdragon s4 Pro supports in regard to hardware acceleration. There's the basic 'h.264 support' listed, but no mention of which profile (probably High), and what level (e.g. 4.0, 4.1). High Profile Level 4.1, for example, would be the minimum for playback of unmodified Blu Ray video. Then there's things like Hi10p support, container support, etc.
Can someone with Qualcomm dev access ferret out the actual video & audio codec and container hardware acceleration support for the S4 Pro?

I am still searching for the best replacement for my One, the G2 is losing the battle as it doesn't have aptx for BT,S4 has it and now I want to know if Note 3 has too as well.
I am using the HTC Stereoclip in my car and devices such as the Cowon J3 that don't have aptx are nothing as good and loud as the One over BT.

My question is does the Note 3 comes with the Wolfson DAC and does it support the Apt-X codec?
I can't remember where but I read the Exynos version, as opposed to Snapdragon version, natively comes with the Wolfson DAC.
The snapdragon N9005 is the LTE/4G version
The Exynos N9000 is the 3G version

so would I be right in deducting this below - could someone confirm?

As far as I learnt, the SM N900 (the exynos one which was supposed to have HMP BUT WONT GET ) has this hardware audio codec:
Yamaha ymu 831, not the wolfson wm5110.

The snapdragon uses its own solution- WCD9320 hw codec. Sorry bro, I have no idea about aptx implementation in either of these versions, sure people will come up and hopefully clear your confusion.
Snapdragon wersion is support apt-x codec. Apt-x library is in system folder.

yeah, I'm aware Apt-X is a software functionality, so potentially it could be ported to any device and I'm waiting for someone to create a cwm to port this to any device... (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=45830675#post45830675)

Hello gentillo,
Do you have a BT APTX headset? If you do, did you try listening to hi rez audio files with APTX on? Notice any difference in quality over BT with your Note 3?
I have an ProStereo H2 by i.tech. RBH rebranded them for other markets. It supports APTX HD and LDAC. It your not familiar with the different codecs and their bandwidth here's a good explanation.

LDAC: 990 kbps
I tested this by using the new options in the Developer options. There is a marked difference in what I hear as I step up the ladder for bandwidth. LDAC is markedly better in comparison to APTX HD (which the ProStereo H2 supports). I realize the choices out there for devices that support LDAC is limited but now the Sony management, that severely proscribed their tech to only work on Sony products has finally died, we should start seeing more non-Sony products use their tech.
If you are a fan of stereo bluetooth then this should make you excited for the future. The Quad Dac would never work with any of the streaming services but now you will get to listen to a bit better. For the smarter, amongst us, who use files on the SD Card, you can rejoice, your FLAC's will flower with 990 kbps, whenever you get a device that supports LDAC.
I am eyeing the new Sony WH-1000XM3 as it will drive down the price of any WH-1000XM2's out there.
Please feel free to ask questions as I have been a stereo bluetooth fan since the IO Gear Blutake ,in 2005, and have had at least 40 different bluetooth devices, over the last 14 years.
LDAC sounds so good with everything, even youtube sounds very good. I have a LG HBS780 Bluetooth headset and I use VLC player/equalizer set to full bass/treble with Viper4XHIFI equalizer. LDAC on FLAC is perfect.

Stock MIUI has both aptX and aptX HD codec. Aswell as SBC and AAC
aptx support depends upon hardware; my understanding is that the Redmi Note 7 doesn't - and can't - support aptx. I'd expect Xiaomi to mention it as a selling point if it did. GSMArena doesn't include it in listed specification.
