identify unsaved Numbers (How to activate in SM-G-935FD?) - Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge Questions and Answers

There is no Option for activating " Identify unknown numbers" in "Advance feature"SM-G935FD (Indian). The app "SmartCallProvider" which is the app working for the option is still present (settings> app managers> show systemapps> SmartCallProvider). Can anybody tell me the process to activate it in my unrooted phone?

[Q] How to fix "SIM Card is from an unknown source"

Hello,
I have recently purchased a Galaxy s5 in USA.
It's a unlocked version and I just noticed that I get an error that says "SIM Card is from an unknown source",
Even though my SIM works fine I still get that error, probably because its Verizon's version.
Now my question is how do I fix it ? I read around and it seems like I have to change the name of the following app?
"vzwphoneservice.apk" to "vzwphoneservice.apk.bak"
-Located at System/priv-app ?
Now I tried finding this specific file and I couldn't.
However, I have another file named VZWAPNService.apk but once I try to change the name of it I get an error that says "Access Denied"
Thank you.
anyone?
have u got root ?

You have to root the device to do this.
If your device has been rooted, you should grant root permission for the file explorer app that you used to rename the system file.

Did you grant root permission for the app?
You can use ES File Explorer app, open Menu > Tools > Root Explorer = ON, then try again.

I'm able to edit it with ES Fie explorer now but like I said I can't find the following file :
"vzwphoneservice.apk"
I tried changing the other files names I got here but (all the ones that start with VZ) but nothing helped so I changed their names back..
any idea what file is it ?

Can you show the screenshot when you get that error message?
In order to get to know this error message comes from what app, try the following:
Install Shortcut Master app, open Menu > Capture Shortcut > Manually Capture. When the error message is being shown, scroll down the notification bar, tap on the 'Capture Shortcut' and show me what you get?

Hello, so I tried using shorcut master like you suggested.. I couldn't really find the information you wanted..
But here's a screenshot of that notification : http://i.hizliresim.com/R6oq9R.png
However, I found out that it has something to do with "setup wizard", I clicked on "force stop" (once you hold your finger on that notification you can click app info, then it takes you to setup wizard)
AND suddenly, this notification disappeared but I also found out that it'll pop up again on my notifications once I restart my phone.
Anyone

OK I've found this workaround. Hope this help.
- Install App Disabler: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.nebkat.appdisabler
- Run the app and find the list for Verizon Setup Wizard. Disable that app.

Thank you so much, it worked =)
But just out of curiosity, there's nothing to be worried about right? I don't want to see that some feature in my phone got disabled because of that.
All I want is to get rid of this message and that's it, its perfect.

I'm not sure, but this method has been reported working fine. Anyway it is more safer than renaming the file, as you wanted to do. And you can always enable it again if need.
Just curiously, is your phone fully unlocked?
Can you install Phone INFO ★Samsung★ app > Menu > 'Secret Codes' > scroll down to 7465625 and tap to launch?
(7465625 is a secret code for checking SIM LOCK).
Thanks.

Before hand i am very sorry that I bump an old thread however, this pertains to this and i can't find any info on my current issue and following you has got me the farthest along with my problem.
My galaxy note 4 reads no service, so I tried the *#0011# approach (no root) could not find the menu, with the input method
Then I rooted it and used your app and was now able to access the menu.
However I still can not find the run ping test option.
My firmware is version 5.1.1
Model: SM-N910T

Yes, you are right.

No I don't tab the reset,
1.) I just try to search for network,
2.) it shows all here in Austria available networks,
3.) I try auto connect to network, -> Fail,
4.) then I run the service mode again, it shows same result.
I run Csc VerifierLog. this shows many fail.
Did you see the substate is NoIMSI? Maybe something wrong with your SIM card? Did you try putting that SIM card into another phone to see if it works?
Sent from my SM-N9005 using Tapatalk
And also try to re-flash the stock firmware for your device. That may help to fix the problem with CSC Verify.
In the Phone INFO ★Samsung★ app, open the Menu > 'Firmware Browser' to get a link of the stock firmware for your device.
Ok, the story is like that.
My son in law visit me here in Austria, and just befor he fly home again to the philippines, he buy him a Note 3 (SM-N9005) from here in Austria.
But he don't read the sticker on the box, " Europe Model" it has to be used with a europian SIM CARD before it can be used with a asian SIM.
So he just went to a mobile store in the Philippines and tell them to open the SIM lock.
After this the phone not work anymore right, it operate very slow. So finaly he send it back to me, by Fedex.
I take it to the "Mobile Store" here in Austria, but the told me the can't fix it becouse the " IMEI is lost 00/00" and in the Service menu ( *#0011#) it shows IMEI CERTI: FAIL.
So I bring it back home and try to fix it.
The Status now is:
1.) I write the IMEI back with this tool: EFS_Professional_2.1.73 ---> it works great my Imei is back
2.) I flash many moden.bin's until I'm sucsessful, and now my " IMEI Certi is : PASS
3.) If I try to use the phone, everything looks fine baseband is there the phone is fast, the only thing, if I try to use it as a phone, it say's " Not registerd to a Network" Emergency call only"
So I don't know waht the to in the Philippines, when the try to unlook it.
If I look in the Service Mode, it shows Service Limited.
Any Idea ?
Maybe the way EFS_Professional_2.1.73 generate the IMEI, is not the right way. If I put (*#06#)
it shows the right IMEI, but maybe the phone SW look in a other part of the memory for the IMEI?
do you have any idea?

For now I can only suggest 2 things:
1- Put your sim card into another phone to make sure it works fine?
2- Perform factory reset your phone and try again.
Hi,
I also have the same problem Samsung Note-3 showing Limited Service.
I have followed the stage showed above.I used the app Phone Info (that u shown).
IMEI is still there.
Root Existence says yes.
Android version is 5.0.Build.
Build Number is LRX21V.N900KKKU0G0J2.
MM reject cause is the same as vndnguyen (but my substate is normal)
The man from the service shop just keeping saying to change ICU.
But I don't want to change ICU. I want to try to fix it by myself.
I am just a phone seller so I don't know deep down the code.
I can just follow the step.
By the way I don't know how to attach image(it is not like using gmail instead it reques link)

[Q] Where are the NFC Advanced Settings Galaxy S5 Lollipop?

I have a NFC door lock , I need to change the NFC Processing Method but I do not have advanced settings in the menu. Even though when I click help on the device itself and select tap and pay it says for the help category it says:
To change your default processing method, go to setings > NFC > Advanced Settings.
Which NFC isn't even it's own menu off settings. I have been in developers setting and other went through the other settings and I am not finding it.
Anyone have any idea where it is? The lock developers says I have to change it from sim card to the android operation system in the settings.
This is what they gave me but it doesn't match up on the Verizon edition.
•Samsung S5 - Settings > Connections > NFC > Advanced settings (top right button) > Change NFC Processing Method == SE SIM Card // Android operating system. Change to Android operating system
Thanks
Mine has the advanced settings with SE SIM card & Android operating system options enabled by default... Not sure but try to clear the app data of your settings from Application manager. If it's still not there try maybe flashing another ROM(official or custom).
I tried clearing the app data and still nothing. I have the latest update from Verizon on the phone, so I don't run a custom rom.
Probably verizon had it disabled on their ROMs? I know most carriers are known for disabling specific phone features.

How to force 4G only (LTE only) Mode?

Can someone help me I am trying to force my Huawei P10 Plus to use LTE/4G only mode. I have latest Firmware/Patch Level.
I have tryed many service codes in format like *#*#.....#*#* codes but I can not set the LTE Only mode.
Isn't it possible without "root"?
It is possible to force "4G only" without root. First download "Setting Database Editor" from playstore. Open it and look for "hw_networkmode_preferences". I use this value "9,3,2,1,11" on my phone. Save it and restart your phone. If you still don't get "4G only" option then you need to open the "Setting Database Editor" again and look for "hw_add_4g_only". Mine was set to "250". You need to change it according to your country mobile code. Look for your mobile country code here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mobile_country_code. In my case I change the value to "250;502" since 502 is my country code. Save it and restart your phone.
Tested on rebranded P10 Plus 256GB.

Thank you very much for your Help! I already installed the DB Settings Editor and found out that hw_networkmode_preferences were already "9,3,2,1,11" so this wasn't the case. Additionally I found that I have to add "hw_add_4g_only" so I added it with the wrong Country Code because I didn't know what the hw_add_4g_only means. I was searching for it a few days now and never got an answer, so I was trying to ask here. And you made it clear now. The Wikipedia Link was very helpful and it works now for my Country. I have to set it 262 for O2 Telefonic Germany.
So again Thank you very very much!
Using Huawei P10 (VTR-L29) 8.0.0.374 (185) solution above works for me too.

Worked on my Samsung Galaxy S9
Honor 6X is stubborn as heel... Nothing works.
Can't even find the commands... Sigh!
First Method :
1. Use SIM 1 as the default connection setting
2.
You need to install this app for FREE
at Google Play
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.teknokia.force4glteonly
pro version : https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.teknokia.force4glteonlypro
galaxy store: https://apps.samsung.com/appquery/appDetail.as?appId=com.teknokia.force4glteonly
pro version : https://apps.samsung.com/appquery/appDetail.as?appId=com.teknokia.force4glteonlypro
3. Run the application, press the SIM 1 only or Android testing button. You will enter two LTE Switcher options and also 2 Android testing options.
4. You can try all of them which support your phone.
If the telecommunication operator you are using does not support VoLTE (Voice over LTE) and uses LTE Only Mode, so regular calls will be blocked.
Second Method :
1. DOWNLOAD Force 4G LTE Only 2020 Pro application from Google Play
2. Run the Application
3. Select SIM 1 Only menu, then Hidden Activity
4. wait to load until 100%
5. tap the search box type RadioInfo
6. In the DEvice Info app section, there is a RadioInfo activity.
7. Long Tap 3 options will appear: Create Shortcut, Launch Activity, Edit Shortcut. I recommend Select Create Shortcut to make it easier for us to enter network activity mode without having to bother opening the Force 4G LTE Only 2020 Pro application.
8. Please select Launch Activity to enter the Radio Info
9. Select LTE Only in set preferred network type
