Moto G4 Plus vs Moto X Style/Pure

Hi, I have a Moto X Style/Pure, the 16gb model, and I wondering if anybody has this yet that could tell me if going for more storage and ram is worth the switch. I love the idea of 4gb ram/64gb of storage but 4gb ram with 617 processor vs 3gb ram 808 processor

so if you have both, how would you compare them in terms of performance and battery life?

Performance and speed looks similar.
Battery.... I love the Moto g⁴
Sound.... both
Screen l.... moto x
Camera.... moto g ⁴
Remember that are for different market segment

I am in a dilemma which one to buy. My usage pretty much consists of browsing and social media apps and a decent camera. I don't game on phone.
Wondering which one to buy. I just need a phone that is a smooth UX. No stutter or lag on basic usage and multi-tasking.
Heard Moto G4 Plus' Camera problem, that is gets hot and takes time to focus?
Is Moto X Style(16GB variant) really worth it for extra $90?

Let´s make it easier, what about g4 plus vs x play? Dont answer on comparisons from the spec/ info etc , I'm looking for the input from someone that have used the 2 phones if possible ... battery life, screen quality ...

Any info about Moto camera update?

Hello guys,
we all know about the new camera interface in moto g4 plus so the question is, does anybody have a clue if other models get camera update as well? I would really love the pro mode (former nokia lumia user) on my moto x play. I saw that those g4 plus have May security patch, do you think we will get it with next security update as well?

I flashed G4 camera pirt and is fantastic.

Thanks a lot for the tip. I have tried it and must say, it it a little bit better. Basically stock camera app with manual ISO settings - not like the G4 plus camera, but still better than nothing. I was talking with CEO of Lenovo here in Slovakia today and he told me that current motos (g3, play, style) will not get such camera update as g4 plus has most probably , so we have to be happy with this camera.

did u compare to stock?I think they are pretty the same..I wish if someone could add lady bug either on stock or g4 plus camera!

If you mean photo quality, then no I did not. But I compared those 2 apps and the one you gave me link to is basically stock app with manual ISO and white balance + few more settings. I wished for something like moto g4 plus camera with pro mode (manual focus and so on). I have also tried Snap Camera HDR from google store, it seems promising, but it crashed several times so I do not use it anymore

I wish someone one day will unlock manual settings!I saw in x style they did it!!!

I already got the latest version of the new moto camera, but I don't see Pro Mode in the menu.

How? Where?

there's a way to unlock hidden settings on stock camera? i've tried changing release-keys to test-keys but didnt work

Should I buy the G4 Plus now or wait until the G5 Plus is released ?

I don't know if I should wait for the moto G5 (I don't know the release date) or buy the G4 now.
I heard that it will be not much better than the G4 anyway ?
Also another question , how's the x265(1080p) decoding on Moto G4 ? Most of my video files are encoded in x265..

I havent had any problems with G4+. I dont play many games and I dont record long videos so I havent had any heat issues. I bought 64gb for $250 on Swappa.
I unlocked bootloader, Seamless root without any hiccups. Great device for me.
I dont think the Moto G series will get much better than the current Moto G4+ for a year or two.
PS I also have Moto G3 2015 as my oops phone. There is an advantage with Moto G4+.

Unless I'm mistaken it's the same hardware just with a fingerprint sensor and more storage options. I have the regular G4 and like it and wouldn't use the fingerprint anyways. If you want more storage it's probably cheaper to get like a 32-64gb as card for cheaper than the price difference of buying the other phone model. Just my opinion.

Go for Moto G4 plus now !
Go for G4+ as the G5 news cannot be relied upon. Also, your G(2014) is way too old, if you wanna change your phone, G4+ would be best so far in that price range. Waiting for G5 at this stage will make you halt for atleast a year-and-half from now, and would not contain much of the "GREATER" changes. As for codec support, the device (G4+) works perfectly fine with the x265(1080p) decoding. In fact it works brilliant with all codecs.

Wait for REDMI 4 PRIME ( Snapdragon 625, 4000mAh battery,3GB RAm,32 gb internal, fingerprint scanner), all under 15K!!!!!
Its rumoured to launch in India in Jan/Feb.
I would hold my horses and wait for its launch,Snapdragon 617 is one of the worst performing Soc ever(I didn't forgot Snapdragon 810 v2.1)
PS: I have nothing against g4 plus except that mediocre processor used by Moto to save cost!! I recommended my sister to buy moto g4 plus, it's an excellent camera phone under 15K,if not the best budget phone.

The phone throttles very soon and is not good basic functionality like recording FHD videos as the frame drops starts to occur and is even present in the saved video file. Also not good for gaming more than 30min!!!!!!

It was fixed some months ago. No overheating issues viewing VR 360º videos or playing Asphalt 8 in latest MM or Nougat.

Frame Rate Issues.

Is it only me or is it for all that moto g4 plus gives a very low frame rate when using custom roms while the same rom works flawlessly on some other device? For eg i have both moto g4 plus and lenovo vibe k5 plus. Though vibe has less memory and less powerful cpu as compared to moto, still RRN works better on vibe as compared to that on moto g4 plus.
If there is any solution for screen rate fix suggestions are welcome.

Is our Camera still beast while comparing to 2020 Midrangers?

Is 1+5 camera still good while comparing to the newer redmi note series , poco X2 etc...?
And how was the performance while using it with G Cam (nik7.4)
Can it manage to stand up against Midrangers while using G cam?

GCam is a big improvement compared to Snapcam (LineageOS) or Stock-Cam (OxygenOS)
