using sd card in Mate 8 - Mate 8 General

How do I move apps and files to sd card without root?
Tried numerous apps that claim to do this without success. Is the problem with Android 6?

Huawei does allow you to move certain apps and games to sd but it has to be U3 with faster read wrote speeds.

Can you tell me how exactly to do this. I have tried many ways without success. Thank you.

Try these steps as below.
1. In Settings - Advanced - Memory & Storage - Default storage, change from Device to your SD Card.
2. Install some app, then verify whether it have been installed on your SD Card other than Device.

this is what I did but you will know if it's done right because it will ask you to restart your phone for the change to take place

Installing applications on SD card instead of main memory

Everytime I install new program to HD2 it asks me if I want to install into main memory or SD card. My PC windows experience says that it is advisable to install programs to main drive (C: usually). Does the same logic apply to WM devices? Or is it safe to install apps into SD card (which would leave more space on actual device)
It's really up to you where you install them. The only things to bear in mind are that the internal storage cannot be expanded, and you can remove the storage card.
The way I do this is to install anything that I think I'll really want to always have at hand on the device (essential apps like coreplayer, nitrogen etc..) That way, if I remove the storage card then my device still has my most favoured apps on it. Anything that I'm not too fussed about (games in my case) goes on the storage card.
It's your call completely, but there's absolutely nothing wrong with installing things on the storage card. In fact, I'd recommend doing it when you're installing non-essential apps so that you save internal storage for things that you don't have a choice with (MarketPlace apps, for example, or tweaks and mods).
Hope this helps mate.
ok, thanks for detailed reply. I will try to install apps to SD card, if that option becomes available during installation process. I am not switching SD cards, so it should be fine then.
one more question that is related to the first one... If I install application on SD card, then if I take the memory card out, put new ROM into phone and insert SD card back. Will applications run as before installing new ROM? Are all program files saved to SD card when installing or does it do some registry entries or save some files onto maine phone memory???
In my old JasJam I found that programs loaded faster when stored on the device storage as opposed to the SD card.
Is this the same on the HD2?
If you upgrade ROM then you will need to do a backup first then restore afterwards otherwise you will lose everything including the links to the programs on the SD Card (although the programs will still be there).
I use SPB backup to do this. It works well. I used it yesterday after I upgraded my O2 V1.43 ROM to HTC 1.66. The restore worked great
All Micro D cards aren't the same I paid a bit more and got a Class 6(fastest) 16GB card. Class 2 is the slowest.
I hope this helps?
Things to remember
SD card usage eats battery.
SD card usage is slower than phone mem.
SD card usage can cause conflicts and freezes.
SD card usage creates app associations that really should not be carried over to new ROM flashes.
Installation to phone mem gives smoother and more stable operation of phone.
You have plenty of on phone storage space so why not use it?
Links to apps gone
i have loads of applications on my SD card for my HD2 but when i reset it i lost all the links to them so now the only way to get to them is to go to the file explorer but i dont have any icons anywhere else on my phone, any suggestions?
Either reinstall the apps, or simply browse to the executables, copy, and paste as shortcut in \windows\start menu.

Device slow incerdibly down when memory card is full

Hi, if I really fullfill my storage card (4GB SDHC), system shows it is 3,6GB and used is 3,6GB, then device is incredibly slow. It is unusable.
I have Rafyvitto_Acer_s200_LEO_23519_BlacK_NeO_v.3.0 firmware.
Do you have same experience or is problem only in my device or card?
Thanks Kenia

1. backup all SD card into pc
2. format SD card with card reader.
3. setting->system->encryption-> uncheck encrypt files (maybe don't need)
4. put sd card back to S200, check the card work without delay.
5. copy files to SD card. (with card reader or not)
6. check sd card if work normally.

I deleted about 100MB and everything is OK. Only want to know, if it is hw or sw problem. I guess that system creates something like content index on memory card and if there is not enough free space, system cycles. But as i wrote, it is only my supposition.

the better way is if you are using class 10 memory card..
- Flash Wsm Tool in recovery mode.
- Reboot and enter Wsm Tool, Hit Install and reboot.
- Enter Wsm tool again n then search for XExtStorage and download.
- After download finish, Apply it then reboot.
- Now your external will be swap with internal.. you can check it in setting-storage.

[Guide] HOW TO INCREASE INTERNAL MEMORY OB GALAXY ACE S5830-PC NEEDED

1. On your computer, first of all, daownload the app named MiniTool
Partition Wizard Software.
2. The download link is here.
3. Then, install the app.
4. Take the microSD card now and insert it into an empty microSD
card slot from the card reader.
5. Connect the card reader with the computer / notebook.
6. Do not access the files or the mass storage device mode from the
memory card through your phone.
7. Copy all the files from the memory card on your computer or
back it up.
8. From your computer you can now open or run the MiniTool app.
9. Select SD card and then right click on “option” and choose
“delete”. Confirm for wiping the data from the memory card.
10. Again, right click and this time choose “Create new”.
11. Next, select FAT32 file type and allocate the amount of space you
think you will be using; take note that this space will be used for
saving the media and other files.
12. Similar as above select “Create As: Primary”; a new external
partition will be created so allocate the required memory; take
note that here the memory will be used for storing the necessarily
apps you will download.
13. Just click on “apply” and then you can safely insert the microSD
card on your Galaxy Ace for increasing its internal memory.
That’s it, now you know how to easily increase the internal memory of
your Samsung Galaxy Ace smartphone. Do tell me if the method worked
for you and if not share the issues so that I can help you make it
through. If everything worked as planned now you will be able to install
new apps, run the latest games and perform other complex operations
with your device.

And it may not support CM11.
I will surely get back to you on this.
It did get two partitions.
Maybe problem is that I put primary one in NTFS and second one in FAT 32?

Hi Guys, I just wanted to check if there's any fix to move apps to SD card, I've tried a couple of apps & xposed modules too but nothing's working.
it's running on android 6.0.1 u have to format sd card as internal storage to install apps on sd card and sd has to be minimum class 10 or else apps will take a lot of time to launch

By doing this I will only be able to use my SD card for installing apps & nothing else, it'll not let me store anything else on SD card & thats why I am not formatting the SD card as internal.

Thanks for responding. I did switch to Adoptable Storage when I bought this device & noticed that it only stored apps, game data etc. Adoptable storage was not showing / detecting on my pc & laptop too, check this link for more info https://motorola-global-portal.custhelp.com/app/answers/prod_answer_detail/a_id/109134/p/1449,9582
