I'm having an issue with my S7 Edge.
When my wifi is on, it's fine, stays connected, all good. But when it's off, it switches on about every .5 seconds then back off again. It does this CONSTANTLY and completely drains my battery and my phone gets so hot.

Ive had the phone since April, it was fine until last week. I took it to Geek Squad, they gave me a brand new phone straight from the box, and here I am on day 2 and the new phone is doing the same thing. It must be a software problem but I can't figure it out.
The technicians at the Samsung store said they've seen it a handful of times, apparently it's a new issue but they don't know the cause (they were kind of useless).
Please help meeee my phone dies 3 times/day it's so annoying.
Mine is doing the same thing lately and hasn't before, in fact it's doing it right now. I guess i have to reboot and keep WiFi off until we can figure out what's causing it.
I'm on the nougat beta if that makes a difference.

Here is the fix
Mine was doing the same. It seems to be the Google play services update, just uninstall the updates of the Google play services and it will fix. Hope Google fix this soon

Also instead of uninstalling the updates you can just just force quit the Google play services app, but you will have to repeat this process when you turn your wifi on again.

I've tested and WiFi remains off, when turned off, after being on.

I just figured out another fix in other thread, go to the location settings and disable wifi scanning.
1.Location/Improve accuracy.
2.Disable Wi-Fi scanning.
Mine did the same just after the BPJH update. I wiped everything and installed BPJG, superman rom and everything is good now.

I've used it maybe once or twice already, then today out of nowhere it stops working. The app closes when connecting to the call. I'm on stock and have not rooted. Thinking maybe I should return and maybe I'll get one that'll receive the ota too as I haven't gotten that either. Any ideas?

Qik video chat will not work without the OTA. If neither party has the OTA the call will connect briefly and neither party will see each other. If one person has the OTA they will see the non-OTA person fine, but the call will still disconnect very quickly. Both parties require the OTA to fix the video chat.
I don't have the ota but I was on a couple video calls already. They just stopped working today

You're luckier than I am, then Zero success at all between myself and my wife until she received her OTA; then things worked partially. Still waiting for mine.
I believe that I received the OTA...currently running Android 2.2.1, but have yet to get qik to work on either my phone or my wife's phone. It connects for a second and then disconnects. Is there a different OTA that I need to wait for?

Wow this is good to know. I was pulling my hair out trying to find out why I couldn't video chat with my gf.
We both got the OTA and now it works perfect

My fiancee and I both are on 2.2.1. Mine came out of the box that way, straight from TMO. Hers received the OTA the same night we received the phones. Qik also prompted to update for both of us, immediately.
We established one video chat session and thought all was gravy. The next day, she ran up to the grocery store and we tried it out - it establishes the connection, and then immediately does one of two things:
either
A) stops "ringing" at the "Initiating Video Chat..." screen and goes straight to an indeterminate progress indicator showing "Connecting..."
or
B) goes to the "Initiating Video Chat" screen and just spins its wheels for about a minute (then prompts to leave a message)

So, Android, Baseband, Kernel, Build & Software versions are all the latest AND congruent versions. We've also done a full reboot (not a quickboot) and no luck. Tango gave us the best results, but it has a terribly low volume level. Yahoo! messenger just produced horrible audio artifacts.
Between the XDA forum and the TMO Support forum, I've seen about a 5-10% success rate with video chat. Seems like this just isn't ready for prime time yet. We're both getting solid speeds here in our area too (and have been for the last few months)...
tango works awsome and is crystal clear,,,my buddy and i did it from my mytouch 4g and his apple i phone 4g,,,its soooo clear,,,,plus if some one wants to hit me up i dont have another mt 4g phone to try the tmo. qik chat,,i can give you my phone # or what ever it takes to try it out.,,[email protected],,,,TANGO also works awsome / flawlessly with my gf's samsung vib. with fc cam
for the past week or so, when the screen of my Nexus 4 is turned off, i have no incoming data whatsoever via network.
i've heard of the problem existing with wifi, but this happens when on the mobile network. (and for the record, i have wifi set to always stay on during sleep)
everything will be working fine while the screen is on, then when i turn the screen off for any amount of time, i receive no emails or google voice notifications etc until i turn my screen on, then i'll see my network signal bars turn blue from grey, then i'll get all my notifications.
i recently got an RMA device but it was working fine up until a week ago, so i'm not sure if that would be it.
any other ideas?
what ROM and kernel are you using because this function might me kernel/ROM dependent?

sorry, i should have mentioned.
i thought that too, but, while it started on cyanogenmod 10.1, i flashed to stock using the official google image last night and still had the problem through today. so i'm having the issue on at least CM10.1 and stock
nobody has any ideas? i recently switched to net10 from Straight Talk, but it seemed to be working fine for a bit.
i have contacted them but they have no idea.
Is background data enabled , also it cab be set by app, through data manager.

well, i tried doing a complete hard reset and seeing if it would continue to do it with no apps installed whatsoever. no dice.
net10 is still at a loss.
so i called google and asked if they had any idea and they're sending me out a new device to test it on.

so i'm starting to wonder if there's something up with my google account? i can't say that i've noticed ALL data stopping while the screen is off... not sure how i could test that... but when i turn the screen on, the signal bars are grey, denoting no connection to google servers, and then my gmail and google voice notifications come in as the bars turn blue
could there be something up with my google account that would make my phones stop syncing while the screen is off?
Well, if anyone cares, a hard reset and new Google account didn't solve the issue either. I think I may try to switch back to straight talk when this month of service is over.. Woohoo $60 sim cards...

It's in Spanish but basically that's the problem. It started an hour before I'd land in my home country Argentina. I traveled from San Francisco, CA to Houston, TX. No problems. I traveled from Houston, TX to Buenos Aires, ARG and no problems until an hour before landing. To clarify, yes, I was already in Argentinian airspace and we were starting initial descent.
For some reason, this pop-up shows EVERY TIME I turn on my cellphone. I've used it millions of times (the GPS). I've even turned it on while in-flight and caused no trouble.
It's a almost new cellphone! I bought it Brand New and received it in Feb 14th. No harms, no signs of wear nor problems with the software... It's starting to bug me because even when I have my location turned off, it still shows the pop-up and my screen won't turn off until I hit the sleep button or press the "Accept" button!
I had this with Cloudy G3 2.2. Flashed CM 12 instead and no more issues. I tried multiple things to get it to stop and nothing worked.

I am on stock 4.4.2 because as far as I know, most of the CM 12 come with bugs (which I found some of them that can affect me with my G2 experience). Do you know any Custom ROM that so far its bugs are minor or none recognizable?

Depends on your use. I haven't had too many issues with CM12. The only major complaint that I've seen with it is VOIP issues.

I just tried what you said. Nothing happens, still the same popup
Cleaning app cache or data will only work for the next boot. And once that this error occurs right after the boot, the screen remains on until you unlock the phone and dismiss the error message. So, it's upsetting because LG OEM keyboard sucks and google keyboard is the best for me. (Tried others too. Nopes...).
Now this is going to be a real deal breaker for me, as I mostly talk while in the car. BT seems to be swithing itself off for no apparent reason. I entered my car on several occasions and got a call on the phone instead through car kit. Each time BT was off, and had to manually switch it back on. It also happened once for wifi - I found it turned off. I am on B10 OTA, no root, no bootloader unlock.
Anyone seen this issue??
i noticed this but blamed "face-dialing" for it . after a call is ended by the other party , the screen turns on fast and sometimes my face clicks the screen and pulls down the notification tray . maybe that's how the bt goes off . will keep an eye out in the next couple of days and update my post .
Same thing has been happening to me for bluetooth. I don't know why.
It's definitely not me turning it off. This is so annoying and stupid.

My A2017U does this as well after the 7.0 update. I thought it might have something to do with the built in battery saver. Would love to solve this problem as its annoying as heck.
I have set up Automate flow to keep this turned on. However, Automate is also being shut down in the background. I have disabled power management for Automate, so I will see how this goes.

Same issue here - this is my second Axon 7. I returned the first cause it happened regularly and I assumed it was a hardware fault. But the same happens on the second handset too.
I really wanted to stay stock but wondering if LOS would solve this issue.
Seems like there's a software issue somewhere, odd that it doesn't affect everyone tho.
I wonder if this was anything to do with our issue?

Sure, it's a simple flow that checks BT every minute. If it's off, it will turn it on.

I just updated to 7.1.1 yesterday. I'm curious if there was a fix rolled in correct the BT issue. So far it's been staying on.
Got my 7.1.1 OTA this morning. BT stable so far.
Since updating my a2017g with official nougat 7.1.1 a few days ago my Bluetooth is staying reliably connected with my Garmin fenix 3 HR watch. Previous is was disconnecting all the time.

I found on reddit a comment that seems to work (at least in my case):
"Go to advanced settings / location/. select 3 dots choose scanning. turnoff blutooth scanning. problem solved. ITs turned off in mashmellow by default. Why it works NFI but it does. Found on a moto forum. Same issue."

Seems to me that Marshmallow had a lot of problems with the A7. Mine is not that old and I never used it on Marshmallow. Updated it to Nougat after unboxing. Works well. My bluetooth is good. I literally had it playing music through my Jawbone speaker at work all day. Just runs, no issue.

I downloaded this today but I have yet to install it.
This could totally be placebo, but it seems like my standby battery life has improved with the update.

You're lucky I guess lol... I frequently have issues with the BT not connecting to car stereo for both call/media audio
Frequently popping/skipping when playing music via bt, like many others have reported the only fix is to connect, wait for the popping/skipping, turn off bt on phone while playing audio then turn it back on, but even then it still does it occasionally
Audio/video sync off greatly when using bt also
I doubt this will ever be fixed with firmware updates as this has always been a problem with LG phones, I had the same issue with LG G2X and LG G4, I wish they would figure it out, I like their phones but its the one thing that drives me back to sammy for a few generations before trying LG again

I haven't had that issue. I have a 64gb SanDisk, and it hasn't had any problems.
13 hours since unplugged, 2 hours of sot, 66% battery left. Great update IMO.

I downloaded lg bridge from the LG G6 thread and h update showed right away, updated in about an hour because I have an old slow netbook.

Not trying to be a smartass but did you format the card I know it gives an annoying notification that won't go away until it's reformatted I think. I just updated tonight and more than likely lost everything I'd pushed to it

For me it's slow for the initial connection to the car does connect phone then media but still is slower than I think it should be
