Moto g4 plus warranty - Moto G4 Plus Questions & Answers

I have installed manually nougat update soak test through recovery mode .now my warranty will void or not??again in future I can receive OTA UPDATES form moto or Not??

If you didn't unlock the bootloader then you are still covered by warranty.
Register the phone on Motorola site and you can also see the warranty there.
However you will not get OTA updates with the Nougat file that was floated here, you will have to side load the final N when it will be available.
As of now, there wasn't an "official" release, don't be fooled by the topics names here.

Installing Nougat OTA capture void my warranty?

Hello friends Will installing the Nougat OTA capture void my warranty and will I recieve further OTA updates?
If you haven't unlocked the bootloader then it probably isn't voided. On the other hand, it may prevent you from receiving the final OTA since what you're talking about is most likely a soak test version.

Warning, there are risks.
Don't downgrade your modem! There is a chance that you will lose finger print and one simcard. Maybe that is not an issue if you just want to make the phone look vanilla. Some say that it works fine with newer modem.

Amazon XT1625 - Software status: modified

Hello, I am running stock image, unrooted, locked.. at one point I tried flashing the Nougat update from the Indian release but it failed with an error. I had no problems, wasn't bricked or anything, just wasn't able to install.
I now see it says software status modified and am wondering:
1. will this affect my ability to get the OTA update? I'm seeing people are getting the update but I don't have it available yet. I know it's rolling out in waves but I'm worried I might not be eligible even when it does reach.
2. How can I restore it to say not modified? I thought maybe flashing the stock image but I can't find the stock Amazon images. On the Moto website under relock instructions the XT1625 shows up with a .64 firmware but since I have the amz variant I don't know if that will work?
Any advise appreciated
Well won't you believe, I am now downloading official Nougat. modified software status doesn't affect it. phew!
Thanks for posting. I decided to check for an update on my non Amazon version and there was an update waiting. ?

7.1.1 Soak Test for XT1607

I have the unlocked US model XT1607 and it's not the Amazon Prime version. So I'm on February 2017 security patch but my build is MPIS24.241-2.35-1-13 and that's not the build number I need to be on. I need to be on build number MPIS24.241-15.3-16
I have the 7.1.1 update file. I apply update from SD card in recovery and it sits there like it's working and then it aborts but before that it says something that I can't quite remember.
I want to unlock my bootloader but I don't have internet in my house so it's just this device. Seems like it might be tedious to go back and forth. I'll probably just do that if no one can help me here especially since 7 people have read this and given no help yet.
Does anyone elses Moto G4 Play have the February security patch but not the right build number that required to update the soak test? Please can someone help me? Unlocking my bootloader is only if I can't get this to work. Surely I'm not the only one that has a different build number than everyone else with the February 2017 security patch. Please can someone help.

Ya know, you have posted the same question multiple times in different threads over the past 24 hours. Enough! Your situation by no means warrants this level of noise. You'll get a response if someone has something meaningful to contribute. Silence also conveys a message ...
It's a real big issue for me man. Sorry. But have you ever heard about security patches with a different build number ever!?
Are you sure you downloaded the XT1607 OTA soak? because the only one I have seen is for the XT1603 and won't work.

If you want to keep your bootloader locked, I would caution against flashing the 7.1.1 soak and wait for the official OTA to make it to the US for your current build (or be willing to wait for a fastboot 7.1.1 stock ROM).
As eager as you are, there's little evidence I've seen suggesting the leaked soak test is the version that Motorola will deploy in its public release of 7.1.1. It might turn out the soak test is the actual build Motorola will release - if it's not, then if this is flashed you may not receive OTA updates. As I understand it, Motorola is pushing soak test updates only to those registered with its Motorola Feedback Network (where they have your IMEI to track what update you've received). Thus, if you flash this soak test and it subsquently arises that further updates are needed to bring you back onto the offical OTA update patch, if those updates haven't been captured by someone on XDA, you're stuck with the soak test unless a newer fastboot stock ROM is available. I've seen this with the Moto G4/Plus update to Nougat (where users flashed NPJ25.75-2 and were not receiving the OTA to the final Nougat build, and had to flash the fastboot stock ROM to be back on the OTA update path) and also am seeing it with the Moto Z Play with their Nougat update.
Motorola has in the past released different versions of their updates for different territories, and soak tests from some test regions (e.g. Brazil, India) have not flashed onto devices because their builds have been different. E.g. with the Moto G4/Plus, the Indian Nougat soak test was flashable on EU devices (with the July 2016 patch, MPJ24.139-63) but not flashable on US devices with MPJ24.139-64, same security patch. A subsequent official Nougat update was flashable on US devices.
At the end of the day, it's your device and your choice, personally I'd wait for the official update. Additionally, with the soak test, it appears to have the June 2017 security patch. With this security patch, on the Moto G4 Plus at least, attempts to downgrade from the June 2017 update have resulted in hard bricks (and not recoverable by a blank flash). I do not know if this will happen on the G4 Play (I have a G4 Plus, and as such it's up to you how much of what I've written you take on board), but I really wouldn't risk downgrading.
Good luck whichever way you choose.

UK Fingerprint rom question

If i install the UK fingerprint version here . Will the update still come to my phone? I see they have new updates now and oreo 8 is coming. Will i be able to install those from within the device or will i run into issues?
Also are there any issues using the UK rom over the US rom?
Also are there any better ways to enable the fingerprint sensor without install the UK version?
Does it also void warranty?
Thanks!
I'm in the US & I installed the UK ROM you link to above. It works as advertised. I wondered about receiving the update as well and read through the entire thread. It says you will be able to receive updates and you won't void your warranty since you are flashing official firmware. Of course that is just a post on an internet forum and carries no weight. Other than the warranty does it really matter? You can always update using Flashtool.
Yesterday I updated to 8.0 following this thread https://forum.xda-developers.com/x-compact/how-to/stock-8-0-root-recovery-t3747479 and now I have 8.0, my bootloader is unlocked, I have root, adaway, my phone passes safetynet, and most importantly it still works..
There are some subtle differences between N & O that have made it worthwhile. Sorry I can't be of more help, I can only share my positive experience.

if you unlocked your bootloader, while you might be if there is an update, you can't just download and apply it from phone. If you're only interested in major android upgrade, this won't be a problem as at most we probably will only got one more android major version update (or none, it will be close to two years after device release).
If you are interested on monthly security update though, this could be a pain to flash manually each month
So if i just install the UK via the xperia flash tool method here (https://forum.xda-developers.com/x-compact/how-to/fingerprint-reader-version-flash-t3470154) , will i get OTA updates for security patches? Or do i have to manually do it every time?

Yes, you will receive updates as long as you do not tamper with the bootloader or recovery. If for some reason it doesn't work you can always use flashtool to apply an update. The convenience of the fingerprint reader working far outweighs the inconvenience of having to update a phone with a computer.
