Tenfar tools links broken. - ZTE Axon 7 Questions & Answers

Cant post to the dev forum, first post to let people know the links for Tenfar's tools are broken. Trying to root and unlock B29.
Regards.
Tried later, working links.
Thanks to DrakenFX, Tenfar, rczrider, Unjustified Dev.

The links are fine but tenfar seems to have disappeared. But no worries, we can continue without him.

Can't enable OEM unlock

Hello,
I have enabled developer settings but I can't enable OEM unlock. When I click on the toggle, it asks me if I'm sure I wanna enable that and when I press "enable" it automatically toggles off.
What can I do?
This is so far what I figured: probably the phone was with ZUI ROM and seller flashed somehow CyanogenOS over it.
So what I want to do is unlock the bootloader and flash TWRP and CyanogenMod 14.1.
Please help me

Thanks for the reply. I had searched for threads regarding that problem before I made a new one and I did find that one you mentioned but no solution was provided there. That last post could be the solution but that was not how my situation looked like.
Anyways, I got my problem solved. I restored the phone to ZUI using QFIL and then flashed TWRP.
Thanks!

The qfil method was mentioned in the link of this last post
Yeah, I see it was but I didn't understand how qfil works so I thought that it won't help in my case.

It is still not possible, first you need to unlock the bootloader and for this we have to wait for the unlock app ... if they will release it.

When it will be possible to unlock bootloader for zenfone 3 laser zc551kl..
Why do you need to unlock the bootloader just for rooting? The default bootloader allows flashing a zip and adb access -- the issue is that I cannot find image files with rooted /system/bin/su - any help?
I was trying all methods to Root my ASUS ZENFONE 3 LASER ZC551KL burt all methods failed.
If anyone from Master Developer here know to root that, Please tell me...

I found a tool called SRS Root that you could try. I don't know if it works though because I have no intention to root my phone.

Got this message aswell
Code:

Anyway wanted to root only to bypass dun check from vodafone, apparently didn't need to have root permissions.

Even with boot loader unlocked we would still need a custom recovery but there aren't any out yet for this phone.
Is anyone here compiling TWRP recovery for this phone? As I understand it, TRWP is open source and up to the individual to instigate. I have never compiled before. Had a few days of coding classes for web design... But I am willing to do the work if I can. I did not buy this phone for the ZenUI... it has much potential, yes. Anyone here able to give me tips on how to start this process? I want to do the work, just dont know how.

Good luck dude, and don't stress about bricking your phone, just backup your recovery partition beforehand and you can always flash it through fastboot mode.
@biaeuaer
Mate, using the guide given in TWRP site, please compile a Twrp for this device. i am depending on you. Thank you.

Alright, great to see there is demand. Thanks for the nods guys. I will be working on compiling TRWP for OmniROM during the mornings PST, until noon. Right now work means researching what it is I am actually doing, L! So far reading up on the AOSP site and OmniROM wiki and will follow the TWRP guide posted here on XDA. I will update here in a week with my progress. If I think I can do it, I will start a thread on XDA to follow and a GIT repo.
I think all I will really need is the device information to plug in to an existing tree. So thats the angle Im taking, if theres any tips please pass em on!
Thanks again!

@ biaeuaer
Mate, any update on TWRP?
Crikey! This is not for the faint of brain. So, I hope you all realize how noob I am. This is going to take me some time. I cannot just pipe info into a file, here. I need to understand what the file is, what I am piping - because this device is obscure, no one has made this easy yet. I only managed about 5 hrs of research time this past week. But focused I was and now realise that in ordrr to do this I have to start a build environment and work with aosp, to know what I am doing. Step by step.
Sorry its going to take a while! Hopefully will get a good hard day in this week on top of my mornings.
What I am endevouring to understand:
- what is a flag? how to I make on?
- what is a make file?
- how to get device tree out of firmware file
- what exactly I do after porting and flagging and making
- how to do this right - so that it works with omnirom I hope to compile as well.
Mate,
Take your time.

How can I root or at least get Lineage OS with Nougat?

I have nougat already and was expecting for a easier way to unlock bootloader than in Marshmallow so I waited for it. Now with Nougat I see it very impossible to root or get Lineage. So can someone please do a guide for my problem please?

Lots of guides already.
It's the same process. Downgrade bootloader to unlockable version, unlock, flash TWRP, flash ROM, flash Gapps. Pays to read and search player.
I agree readling through all these threads its mass confusion. Some say it works with nougat some say it bricks there devices. Is there a simple one click root like wugfresh has with the nexus devices

Many guides explains very well. If you are unsure about what you are going to do with your device then my advice is that you stay on stockrom until you understand and know what you are up to.

Oh okay, let's just assume that you know what EDL mode, DFU mode, and FTM mode are. And that you know what happens if you get a DFU brick, what is the solution... Read a bunch of guides and help threads before doing anything, especially if this is your only phone or if you can't use the warranty
To be fair, there isn't a guide for using MiFlash to downgrade the device from Nougat to MM.
I'd suggest you look for the MiFlash download link in the Download Center sticky and then download the necessary MM ROM for your device.
From then on you can just follow a guide to unlock the bootloader using axon7tool and install twrp etc.

Very nice, but I think his problem is that he needs to downgrade to Marshmallow before he even attempts to unlock the bootloader.
I'm an A2017G user, not a 2017/2017U user, so it might be slightly different for you guys (didn't think it was?), but I believe that you can't unlock the bootloader if your device is already on Nougat, it must be downgraded first.

Actually it's not that simple...
You don't get to come here and ask for all of the work to be done for you. Otherwise it happens like with the Galaxy Grand 2, where the phone had a very good dev community but noobs with no interest on spending some time just ruined it to the point that literally only a couple of devs stayed and released CM14.
Also if you ask for someone to send you the exact guides that you need, you'll probably not read anything, and you'll get a beautiful DFU brick...
Do this: First do your homework. Memorize the model on the back of your phone, see if the software model matches the one on the back. As a tip, there are 3 models, the A2017, the A2017G and the A2017U. If you use a file that's not for your model you can start saying goodbye to your brick, or else you'll probably be days trying to fix it (or months like some people). Look at the problems that may come up when rooting and see the way to avoid those. Then look for a guide that suits your model. Download all the files, ensure that all of them work (you'll need Windows on a 64-bit PC), and THEN proceed.
If you have any doubts you can PM me or maybe the maker of the guide, but at least try to do something for yourself! I read more than 10 pages on the guide that I used just to see the problems that may arise and stuff like that. You also should be able to do that. And if you aren't, it's best that you don't try. This is not a Nexus device for you to write 'fastboot oem unlock' and basically finish unlocking the bootloader, this is MUCH more serious...
Use my toolkit: https://forum.xda-developers.com/axon-7/development/tool-axon7toolkit-t3573108
No need for any guides
Just make sure you read all the main posts as there a couple snags

TWRP: v3.2.1: Custom Changes to Make it work Much Better: unofficial:

The Current Latest TWRP for the v10 H901, v3.2.1, done by TWRPbuilder, was missing many options and settings,
For the most part it worked, but screen settings was wrong, my device about overheated and I like to have my screen
blink off after 60 secs..
So I took the latest STOCK N source and used the twrpbuilder.jar file to create a device tree from the STOCK Recovery..
edited the device tree to allow everything to work like it should. then built TWRP, tested and works......

If anyone remembers me, I did hold on to my v10 this whole time.. but as I said before, the famous LG Bootloop got my V10, and LG fully Replaced it free of charge and it came back with Nougat, which means No root,
I seen that someone came up with root for it.. so I finally rooted it.. but needed to fix that twrp you all had....
also I sold my HTC10, after doing everything I could over there.. I got tired of HTC, and wanted to give LG another chance.. some say im crazy, but I love challenges..
anyhow I also bought a LG G6 for a good price....... and im not sure if I will get the g7 yet.. still going to wait a bit and see what happends.......
I just hope my freshly built TWRP seems to work better for you all that try it.......
Since I left v10 a while back, I also started a ROM, Yeah, PureFusionOS is mine.. I was main Founder of it......... with over 10k installs.
Dont believe me? Look for your self: https://stats.purefusionos.com/
We havent done much since last year.. but just now currently working on updates and kinda waiting on P.................
maybe I can bring it to this device.. who knows..

I never said it wasn't. I was only explaining that LG removed the flashing commands from fastboot (they only left us with the unlock command and a few other non destructive commands (like getvar)), and that you will need to thoroughly read read read the thread I linked and follow the instructions to a T or you will run the risk of bricking your phone. LG really made it easy to brick this phone if you don't know what you are doing. That thread does state that you shouldn't brick, but if you don't get it right you'll have to flash the kdz (which is linked in another thread somewhere) to start over.

Once you have the other twrp installed (https://forum.xda-developers.com/tmobile-lg-v10/general/root-h901-nougat-t3773942) boot to twrp and flash the twrp.img from this thread after you extract it from the .tar. If your on any firmware above 10c LG only gave us the fastboot unlock command, the fastboot boot and fastboot flash commands have been removed. This has been stated many times and in many threads. It has also been stated before to use the proper threads for asking questions, which is one of the rules of xda.
This thread is for the development of this version of twrp.
Those of us that have been rooting since day 1 understand that every phone is different and rooting evolves with the tighter security from the oems. Many of us started with windows phones here on xda before Android was born, or nokia "smart" phones before that.

Honestly if you have to ask how to install twrp, I wouldn't recommend flashing it at all....
if you been doing this for years, then you would know that how to install it requires ROOT or some special way since this is the T-mo threads meaning H901,
BTW peepz, if you think gaining root for the v10 is a trick in its self, try the G6 way.. talk about risky business there.. by the same person..............
NOTE: that doesnt mean TRY the G6 way on the v10,
anyhow. you can flash twrp through your already made recovery or some app that has root......
I flashed this twrp through the recovery that I get when I used the ROOT method on latest ROM......................
I just didnt like the fact that half the options were missing........... I did do another build.. but I didnt release that yet on here.....
if anyone is still having issues, maybe I should upload the other build for you to try..

I just got hit with the infinite bootloop on my device unfortunately, and modified this twrp image to only use the little cluster: https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=818222786056035329 . The cmdline additions are only: maxcpus=4 boot_cpus=0-3. Just in case anyone else wants it
Edit: given the prevalence of this bug, I'd honestly recommend people just keep a 4core twrp flashed on their device for if/when they run into it so it's easier to deal with.
