It do to your location settings. If you want it to stay off go to your location settings and select GPS only. For some reason some of the apps are turning on Wifi to find your location. I had the same issue but could not figure out which app was doing it.
Thanks dude this was happening to me too
The latest Google Play Services has a bug; the above workaround is all we can do until they roll out an update.

Thanks I was just about to ask if any one knew why this was turning it self on
I updated a few apps thru the play store yesterday with Android System Webview being among them. Afterwards, looking at my wifi tab, I noticed it's not blinking with like before. I think the latest "Android System Webview" may have fixed this issue.

Changes in router's Wireless Security had caused it in my case
I had this issue and was causing me real headache. I initially thought it was hardware failure of my phone but later I found reason is something else.
For some reason I had changed Wireless Security of my WiFi router from WPA2 Personal to something else (I guess WEP).
That was causing my phone (intex cloud 4g) often to turn on and off WiFi on its own. I changed the Wireless Security back to WPA2 Personal and phone is now back to normal (not turning WiFi on and off on its own)

Hey guys,
I have a serious problem with my Galaxy Note 3 SM-N9005.
Since last month my battery drains like hell and at the same time, my wifi works not properly. It is on but only wenn I get into the Wifi-Settings it scans the location for signals. So it doesn't get into a wifi-router itself, I have to scan the area on my own and only after that it logs into the saved routers.
I used "Wake Lock Detector" to see which application doesnt let my processor sleep and I found that 90% of the time the "wlan_ctrl_wake" lets my phone awake. What can I do? I did nothing (I think) it would make it this way! Is my Wifi damaged? Or is it only a software problem? When I go by train it is the same problem. I don't think the problem is my router or something else but my phone. It is a problem of my phone.
When I turn Wi-Fi off, it works very well.
Sincerly,
Jan
@poanda in wifi settings press menu and advance there uncheck always allow scanning snd see if this works.
Also select never in keep wifi on during sleep.

So you're saying practically I shouldn't use Wi-Fi anymore? Because I know both are checked and they were never a problem. I don't think that's the solution (but I will test your first idea).
I think it is a deeper problem. I had never such an high wake up time and I use it since April'14.
And I forgot to tell that I updatet the ROM to KOT49H.N9500XXUGNI4 (Buildnumber) two weeks before the problem.
@fatman0 @poanda I didnt say stop using wifi I gave you som3 suggestions m

I'm not sure what could be the reason in your case. But you can try this:
Enter the code *#0011#, then press Menu button > WiFi, and make sure WIFI Power Save Mode is ON?
It was checked all the time
Does this screenshot help?
Ok it's already ON.
What is Media server ? It is couple times in top first draining the battery.

I've had this too a lot. It kills my battery.
I haven't had time to do much testing yet. I think it may be Google Photos. Do you use this and have auto backup enabled by any chance?
Or perhaps something related to the Gear VR software?

I had the same issue, I think it was Chrome causing it. I changed to Chrome Dev and it went away.
I'm pretty sure it has to do with music playing. It shows up if I play music through Google Play Music or other music apps. Google Photos shows up as Google Photos and doesn't seem to affect anything else except for Google Services.

Can confirm. After deactivating Chrome 52.0.2743.98 and exclusively using Chrome Dev 54.0.2840.6, Media Server no longer shows up in battery stats. Battery drainage turned normal, again.
Nevermind. Media Server still eating a bunch of battery. Must have something to do with media playback. Some s6 users reported that using AwesomePlayer solved the issue but that's no longer available in Marshmallow.
Nope, not media playback. I was getting massive drain from it for a week or two and hadn't played any kind of music or videos.
Hello everyone. I've problem about Spotify. While music is playing Spotify closes if I lock my phone. Do you have same problem?

it's working now. thank you mate. I've not restarted phone before. it's Okey now.
I was wondering if all three power management toggles need to be disabled. Could someone test it by only disabling "allow deep sleep" & keeping others on? Thanks
I'm having this problem now too, even with all the power management features disabled
not just a spotify issue. i use play and have same issue. Reboot usually fixes it. started happening with b29 update
I solved my problem by setting up tasker to start Google play when phone connected to
Stereo system in my truck via Bluetooth and seems to have eliminated the problem for me.
This is a recurrent problem with the Axon 7 and it's driving me nuts. You can get Spotify to work by rebooting your phone, but within about a day it's somehow reset itself to turn off when the screen goes off. Disabling all power savings features does not make a difference long-term, or short-term for that matter anymore.
There's over 150 messages about it on ZTE forums. I've contacted ZTE tech support about it and they said they have no timeline for a fix. As Spotify is my main music app, and I bought the Axon 7 for it's superior audio, it'll be going back before my 30 day return window is up if there's no movement or any more acknowledgement from ZTE. Too bad, pretty great phone otherwise.
I intentionally turn off OK Google detection so my phone is doing one less thing, but it still is working and the options are disabled. I've only recently started to notice this. Tried to enable and disable the options again... no joy.

This may be painfully obvious, and I'm not trying to sound sarcastic at all, but:
Have you tried saying OK Google to see if it's actually working? How about just removing the widget from your home screen and replacing it with one that isn't voice activated? Or perhaps both..

Yes, it does work when saying OK Google. Also, would removing it prevent the mechanism on the backend that's listening from working also? Or would the service still be running?
I know that when I removed it, there didn't seem to be any listening going on. I think it uses this process in Maps as well as a couple other GApps, so after removing it you can try it in there/disable it in there as well. If you have root, you can always freeze it with TB. I completely removed it from my phone, so I don't have it to play with to try to find these things out. That's always the first thing I do, so I know very little about tinkering with system apps without root.
You can enable OK Google in settings.
try disabling your google account in settings.

Very small size update but took bit time when it was "optimising apps". Since last May update I was facing frequent Wi-Fi disconnection issues, let's see if they have fixed this in this update.

Sure will do. Currently outside so my device is on mobile data only since I've updated the device.
I also have that it switches off after a while. But it doesn't matter, was the last update.

Hello, after this update that i just installed i have no system sounds, no notifications, no call sounds, no microphone, no alarm sounds and the sound bar doesnt make the beep sound when i switch from muting the phone to sound only the vibration works.
The only sound that works is from music that i have installed and from spotify.

Confirmed. This update does contain fix which solves the Wi-Fi disconnection issues.
Updated from 11.0.26 > 28 using fastboot image and no problems to report and no obvious fixes.
I only updated 2 days ago, and each day since, it has restarted itself whilst under moderate use (just now whist using as a hotspot). I don't use the phone intensively, there are no new apps, and my app usage is the same as before. Anyone else had this problem?
What's more worrying is this appears to be the last ever update. See the A2 references in https://www.notebookcheck.net/The-M...date-as-it-enters-its-final-lap.552298.0.html
I hope this isn't a bug that will never get fixed
