hey i need help. So i got my s5 from a friend's brother because the screen on my s7 shattered. anyway when I went to power on the device, it gave me a "custom binary blocked by reactivation lock. Secure fail: Recovery" message. I did some research and found out that pressing the volume down+home+power button at the same time would take me to the odin screen. From there, i needed to reboot the device. Which it did. Now, i tried to factory reset the device but the Reactivation Lock prevented me from doing so. Naturally, i went to turn it off but i didn't know the prior owner's sam account password. I somehow managed to remove the sam accoount from the device (settings>application manager>all>samsung account>clear cache &disable then settings>accounts>samsung account>tap on email>tap on 3 dot menu>remove account). removing the sam account didn't help deactivate the Reactivation Lock. everytime i click on it, it unticks but then ticks itself back on. Eventually my friends brother finally gave me his sam account password but now i have a new issue. I cant add the sam account back on the device! Damn it! i think im having a hard time because i cant access the stock recovery in order to factory reset. It takes me to the original "custom binary blocked by reactivation lock. Secure fail: Recovery" screen. Can anyone please help? My S5 is model SM-G900P completely stock (no root/custom anything).
I did find some threads about successful bypasses but those methods havent worked for me. Ive tried to downgrade to 4.4.2 but i keep getting an odin fail message.
Go to gemflash.com firmware download section and find the g900p combination firmware and download it and then flash it in odin
Then get king root App and move it to your device get root then then get BusyBox App and move it to your device and then get safestrap App and move App to your device
Then reboot to safestrap and you should be able to place a close to stock rom In the second slot try a kitkat close to stock rom for the g900p it has to be a zip file to work In safestrap

thanks ill try it.
I didnt find anything on gem-flash other than some "5.1.1 Arabic firmware" I should mention that I tried to follow these steps from another thread:
"1. downgrade kitkat stock from sammobile.com
2. Turn off the Phone Remove battery, to take off Sim Card and Micro SD.
3. Full Wipe Phone on recovery
4.now we are going to Used Odin to Flash 4.4.2 firmewire.
wait to it done. when it get done u go to ur sam account and them go to security and esea like that u can turn off Reactivation Lock"
but it didnt work. I had to skip step 3 because when i enter recovery by pressing volume up+home+power, I get a "custom binary disabled by reactivation lock" message. I went straight to step 4 and got that error message on the odin program on my pc.
Is there any other place where i can get the combination firmware?

ok, i found the comination firmware. but i have a question. After i flashed it using odin, it booted up a weird looking "ROM". there also doesnt appear to be any sign of the activation lock. So i turned off the phone and went into recovery. I have access to the recovery where i didnt before. So at this point, couldn't i just install a custom recovery and flash custom rom? or do i still have to do the "king root, busybox, etc" method that you mentioned? thanks for the help

I followed your steps up until safestrap but no luck. I wasnt able to find a sprint variant of safestrap so im not sure where to go from here.
I did try to install twrp and cwm after flashing the combination firmware but it failed. So im kinda stuck. My phone looks like the attachment from my last post.
I was unaware there is no g900p safestrap I missed this thread sorry for the late response you can root using king root then you can use the supersu me App to get supersu then install BusyBox then install flashfire app and make sure your bootloader is unlocked then try to flash a custom rom using flashfire

@[email protected] thanks a lot for your help but i think this device has no hope. I have everything set up the way you just mentioned but i cant get super su me. i cant get it because i can only find it on the play store. The combination firmware that you suggested to install, doesnt allow me to use any accounts: google or samsung. because of that, i cant get any playstore apks to work and download super su. I have flashfire installed but it wont work without super su or cm su. i think im just SOL.
You download apks from web browser website I always use is apkmirror or apkpure

I have a sprint galaxy s4 running cyanogenmod 11. I just bought the phone from someone. I went and got a new SIM for the device and tried to activate online. Did not work. I opened chat window with sprint and they put in the device's numbers and sim card number and asked me to make a test call, which did not work. They then asked me to type in ##72786#. They said it would auto reboot the device. It did nothing. They then started asking questions about if this was a used device. Obviously I don't want to have to go to the sprint store, I'm sure they would tell me they cannot activate a modded device.
Can anyone tell me how to activate?
edit: also had me enter ##659143# and said it should bring up a menu screen. It did nothing
Pretty sure those codes won't do anything unless you're on a TW based rom. I would flash the stock rom, then call and try to activate.
(And please remember questions go in the Q&A section)

As said above you'll need a touchwiz rom to get activated. I had the same problem when I got my phone.

Thanks. I really like this rom and how its performing... can you please point me to a tutorial on how to bring back to stock, then to reinstall the same rom after activation? Person I got it from said the files are on the sd card
Download a touchwiz rom to your SD card. Boot into recovery and make a backup of your current setup. Then flash the touhwiz ROM. Activate your phone then boot back into recovery and restore your CM11 ROM.

What's done is done, I have a rooted phone. At this point I need to get through this. All help is appreciated.
I used a youtube tutorial, downloaded touchwiz and odin. Tried to install but it hung up in the middle and failed install. Now won't install through odin and I get the error 'firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in kies & try again".
Installed Kies, went to tools>firmware upgrade initialization... but it keeps saying incorrect serial.
Any ideas?
Boot into Download Mode, post what the text is in the upper-left-hand corner. (after saying "yes" to the warning.) As long as you don't do anything with Odin nothing will download.
There's nothing in that text that has any personally identifiable information.

First of all, what baseband version are you on? Mdc, mdl, mf9,mk2, mja? That is important to know. If on say mf9, then flash with odin a stock mf9, therevare plenty of videos on youtube as to how to use odin. As for the kies error page or wathever justbpull the battery and go into download mode again and start over again. If it only goes half way and stops try a different usb port and make sure you are using the factory original usb cable, I had that same problem you describe of the kies error and itvwas the usb port. Give it a try, just take your time and don't loose your patience. Odin is pretty safe but at the same time you do not want to mess up. Triple check your settings and make surebyou have the right files. Good luck sorry about the typos.

I also have the same issue with my secondary phone line that is an S4. I wasn't quite sure what the heck the issue was with my device since it was working perfectly fine in one month and then all of a sudden I can no longer dial out anymore! I was puzzled as all hell and was wondering whats going on? So i had thought instantly that its either needing a PRL Update or it has to upgrade the radio and at the time i had just literally updated the radio from MF9 i believe. everything worked BUT the phone line kept saying that wonderful "we are sorry but your account could NOT be validated" line and again and again didnt realize that untill reading this post that i didnt remember to upgrade to the latest firmware update. So your saying that is the issue? Doesn't a PRL update help some of those issues with connectivity as well right? that way if you wanted to downgrade your firmware in your radio you could still do so and just update your PRL correct me if i am wrong but i haven't messed with the issue in about 4-5 months so im a lil dusty and need some clarification. I also CANT find an option to Update the PRL in CM 11 at all and sprint had told me that was what i needed to do and i couldnt find that anywhere when i changed my number i basically got data connectivity ONLY... has the Update PRL option in CM11 become obsolete or removed? does just a radio firmware update solve all the connectivity issues? or i should say just most not all... Thank you too by the way I have been stumped and just needed another head to miss what was so an obvious issue if this works out to be the problem that has agitated me time and time again!
Hi guys, I will try and explain this as simple as possible.
I as trying to install cyanogenmod 11 on my phone, and everything seemed to go alright until I made a mistake. I used TWRP to first backup my stock rom on the phone, and then when I was supposed to reboot into the app, I accidently rebooted the phone.
Now the problem is that the phone does not have any OS installed, so what is happening is that it's trying to boot into an OS that's not there, and instead ends up being stuck on the Samsung logo. I can enter Odin mode just fine, but for the love of god I cannot seem to figure how to get back into the TWRP application, or if it is even possible.
I do have the backup of the ROM stored on my SD card, and I've now moved it over to my PC, but it still does not seem to help me in any way. I've trid to launch the Odin3 program on my pc, in an attempt to to try and launch in TWRP through that, but it has all been without any success, so now I come to this board of guinesses, asking for help!
As an added bit of information, this was my first time trying to install a custom rom, so yeah.. Puff..
- The lost Dane.
- Edit -
I tried to "flash" by doing what this link said, in the hopes that my phone would boot into the program, but alas, it only booted back to the logan saying "samsung Galaxy Note 3 SM-N9005" :/
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=30694404
-- Edit Edit --
To make it super clear ... If I could get back into TWRP, I would be able to run my backup. I know how that app works, I just simply cannot get back into, and I do not know if it is even possible. I've searched and tried various guides to "flash TWRP through Odin" but it has all been without any success... :/

Did you hold volume up+home+power button to get into recovery mode?
In case your twrp get corrupted due to flashing failure previously
1. Download twrp from the following. 2.6.3.7 if you were running 4.3 or 2.6.3.8 if you were running 4.4.2(not sure if 2
6.3.8 is 4.3 compatible). For odin flashable use the one with .tar
http://www.techerrata.com/browse/twrp2/hlte
2. Get into download mode(vol down+home+power)
3. Link the downloaded .tar to pda in odin. Odin log should show 'added' once you connect phone to pc
4. Start the process. Once finish phone should boot into recovery automatically but it'll try to boot back into OS. Just hold vol up+home+power button to get back into recovery

When I do that, I get an ultra short blue text appearing on the screen, before it goes into downloading mode, with a red text saying "Could not do normal boot." So it basically goes right into odin mode.

I really do appreciate the help you've given, but I have one final request, and I really do hope it isn't too much to ask. Say I am unable to find the same version of TWRP, I will have to actually flash cyanogenmod onto my device. I don't think it should be too tough now that I've managed to launch into TWRP, because now I should be able to just put the rom on my SD card, and then install the files, no?
if it helps you, my device is SM-N9005, and I had 4.3 when I started this whole thing. Cheers!
- Edit.
I tried to download the Nighty build from CyanogenMod's own homepage, but when I try and install it, it says failed, giving me an erro that says "This package is for "hlexx" devices: This is a." That's all it says ... Hmfh. Sooooooooo... Yes! I'm in recovery mode now, but without any rom. :/

Yes you can flash any cm based rom.
You can also flash any stock rom such as SweetRom/X-Note/BobCat as most developers still keeping 4.3 rom in their thread.

So after having spent the better half of the night, I actually managed to get my phone to boot into cyanogenmod 11 ! But that joy was shortlived when I came to realize that wi-fi wasn't working, and I couldn't get it to work. I tried to factory reset as I had read would help, but alas it did no good. I figured I should try and run back a stock 4.4.2 rom and just be done with it, but that was when I realized I had lost my root (?!) so that wasn't really a possibility either, next I set out to try and find a way to root my phone now running cyanogenmod 11. I found a file here on XDA called "CF-Auto-Root-hlte-hltexx-smn9005.tar" but whenever I try and flash that onto my phone, my phone just stays stuck saying "trying to enter into recovery mode" and does not really go anywhere from there. I can get back into recovery mode if I flash "n9005-cwm-recovery-6.0.4.5(1116)" onto the phone, like you said, but that still leaves me without root access, which I need to throw a rom onto my device?! Arrrgh, this is getting silly, I just wish I could go back to my backup/ default rom on the device, but I can't.

About the cf auto root make sure you flash the one for 4.3. I believe you flashed the one for 4.4.2.
Doesn't really matter whether you have root access or not as long as you can boot into custom recovery. Just flash any custom rom. It'll give you root anyway.
Still if you need root just make sure you flash cf auto root then flash twrp or chenglu recovery. Flash the one for 4.3 that's the most important

And I've already tried that one 3 times, but every time I flash it, the phone reboots and keeps trying to enter into recovery mode, and is unable to do so before I've flashed n9005-cwm-recovery-6.0.4.5(1116) again
this is what it says;
"recovery booting...
Recovery is not seandroid enforcing

But when I have cyanogenmod 11 installed, is that then not 4.4.2 ? I suppose that's what's giving me trouble... I'll try and see if I can find the cf auto root for 4.3 and return back if I was successful or not. Again, thank you for being so patient..

You flashed 4.4.2 cm rom but you're on 4.3 booloader. So you need to use cf auto root for 4.3 which is available here

Just enter download mode and reflash twtp. I saw there are 4 different versions for 4.3(2.6.3.0/2 6.3.5/2.6.3.6/2.3.6.7). Flash 1 by 1 and see if it can restore your backup

You really are a boss with a heart of gold! I used the file you linked me, ran it, and sure enough it installed and gave me root access. Believe it or not, but I am learning from this! The whole thing about bootloader being different from the rom version was new to me. But I am up and running with root access now, so now I hope it shouldn't be too hard to get a stock rom thrown in. I've kinda given up on my backup. I no longer care for the files I had before, now I just want the phone up and running with wifi.. X_ X
- Edit
Or do you have any clue as to what is causing wifi to not work? I really don't mind the rom at all, I quite like it, but where I live wifi is mandatory as it's a lowered area with mountains around me, meaning LTE really isn't viable while at home.

Not sure about the wifi problem but yes you're good to go with a new rom. Make sure to choose only for 4.3 bootloader else you will run into problem later

Could you be so kind and to link me to a rom that works for 4.3 bootloader? I am so paranoid I'll end up picking something for 4.4.2, like I was about to do now. :S

Alright.. Time to get things done right! So just being sure I do it alright. I pick this one; http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=2498687
Download the one for 4.3 bootloader, once download I place the zip folder on my SD card
- Then boot into Recovery mode, wipe phone clean, and then install the rom directly from inside of Recovery mode?
I'm currently stationed in South Korea and recently picked up an SM-G900K, which I was able to root and unlock SuperSU and permissions and everything, but I cannot get into the actual clockwork recovery when I reboot. It just keeps going back to the Downloading... screen, except in Korean language. I have tried PhilZ Touch, and regular CWM. When I attempt to boot to Recovery, it just goes right back to Download Mode. Any ideas? Also is it possible to flash to get rid of ANY Korean language? Thanks
Well, I found a recovery that actually worked on the phone: g900k-cwm-recovery-6.0.4.8-en(0422).tar but when I tried to flash Phoenix ROM, it just booted directly into Download Mode again and I couldn't find a way to boot to the new ROM. I'm back to my backup. Any suggestions?
Have you tried TWRP ? I also had trouble recently getting back into recovery, try removing the battery and trying several times ( 5-6 times ) , in the end mine booted into recovery .

Hi, sorry to ask this in your thread but how did you guys root your device? With which root file? I've looked at the chainfire website and they only list the Korean model for L and S rooted but not for K. So wondering if you guys used those files to root the device? Do you happen to also know if rooting the device will allow us to change the voicemail number? The default now is *88 and I can't for the life of me get it changed to a number I can use in the US.

Hello..I am trying to root Sm-G900K but failed to find the CF for that model. Can you help?
Try holding 'up' & 'home', while holding, press and hold power. As soon as the S5 comes on the screen let go of the power button. It should jump in recovery. Holding 'down' 'home' & 'power' get the download menu. As far as changing the language on the download screen, there is no way to change it without changing bootloaders and we don't want to brick our phones so we are stuck with it.

I'm not sure if this will work but you could try storing your own number in the contact list. Then assign it the #1 speed dial slot.

The only recovery that works on this model is the version g900k-cwm-recovery-6.0.4.8-en(0422) by XiaoLu. Get that copy and you should be able to have a custom recovery.
So for simplicity:
1) Flash g900k-cwm-recovery-6.0.4.8-en(0422).tar using odin 3.09.
2) Boot to recovery and install zip SphinX_Root(ChoiMobile.VN)_G900K-5.0.zip
3) install zip UPDATE-SuperSU-v2.37.zip
4) Reboot.
Do note that the above example works on lollipop. I didn't have problems rooting the G900K in kitkat but you do need to do a wipe cache/dalvik vm/factory restore.

A known issue I discovered is that SuperSU sort of loses it's root powers at random moments. To fix this you only need to shutdown/startup the phone.
Sorry for the late reply, I rarely get on here. I went back to official firmware for awhile, but not looking to root the phone again.
I have been able to flash CWM, install the root file and SuperSU file, but the phone refuses to boot up afterwards.
Hello,
I just flashed TWRP and LineageOs-v16.0-UNOFFICIAL from this https://forum.xda-developers.com/samsung-a-series/orig-development/rom-lineageos-v16-0-unofficial-samsung-t3892229 and after reboot the screens shows "Custom binary blocked by FRP Lock.".
I bought this mobile phone completely legal. I read a lot about this, but I do not really understand what the purpose this functionality has.
When I started flashing TWRP on it, I haven't done a "Factory Reset" in the original Firmware. So I of course don't know the Google Account from the previous owner. I also don't now why the hell the Google Account is responsible for this.
I read, that with flashing Stock Rom and activating "OEM Unlocking" and the problem should be solved. I have never heared of "OEM unlocking" before, on my other phones I don't even have this point in the developer options.
Is this the solution? And where can I get a Stock Rom which will work?

Hello. Can you tell me what your variant of the phone is (SM-A510XX)(what are the numbers or letters which replace the "XX".
With the variant, I can help you get the stock rom and give you a guide on how to flash the stock rom via Odin. Hope this helps.:good:

No you don't need payment method for downloading from sammobile, Only needed if you want to download at high speeds. Provide me the link where you found your firmware from sammobile. With that link, I can download it, upload it to high speed servers, and then give you the link where you can download. I am asking for the link as I don't know what country you live in and therefore don't know the correct firmware. By the what I mean SM-A510xx, replace the "xx" and give the country code or the country you live in so that I can find the firmware as the number you gave me (A510FXX7CRJ6) is not what I meant and that number is a firmware number and not the device number.
ok, so after your post i tried another time to get an account on sammobile.com and now i succeeded. So the download is running atm. But the next question is; how am i supposed to get by the FRP lock? Cuz i tried to flash TWRP on it with odin, but got stopped by the FRP lock.

No. You don't need TWRP to flash stock rom via Odin. Just get the phone into download mode and flash the stock firmware via odin. You flash it the same way as you flash TWRP but just use the stock firmware. Hope this helps. Also, please make sure that the firmware is correct and if not, your phone will be stuck in a boot loop.

You have two options. The google account has a cool off period and I read that if you wait 24 hours, the login will be gone. However, on old android phones, you have to wait 72 hours. But if you go to a Samsung service center, they will remove the logins for free.
I found this website where you can bypass the lock but I am not sure if it works. Do the samsung bypass and not any other brands. Try it anyway: https://www.unlockunit.com/blog/bypass-google-account-verification-factory-reset-protection/

How did it go?
Hello Everyone....
Yesterday, I installed a custom rom on my Galaxy J7 using TWRP and Odin.
The Stock version had Android 6.0.1 but I wanted to use the latest One UI.
So I went for the PhoneZippy Rom which supported One UI and Android 9.0.1
Later the next day, I restarted my phone only to find that it showed "Custom Binary blocked by FRP Lock"
I tried various ways like flashing the stock rom again but there was no luck.
Every time I try to load TWRP or Stock android it would block the transfer.
Is there some way by which I can turn the OEM unlock on again without actually booting into android becaise the screen lights up and turns off nor does it allow me to download anything it just blocks it.
Is there any other "free" method by which I can get my OS back??
Plz help.
Look for some videos on YouTube; search for "bypass frp lock"

Thankyou but I already tried that. My Android, recovery and Sownload mode all are not working. The download mode blocks any 3rd party install.
On YT it only has the google or binary lock but I feel that the new rom re-enabled the OEM unlock in the settings.....
I had the same situation. But it happened because I turned off OEM Unlock))) I just downloaded stock rom
(By SamFirm, if what), and flashed it via Odin. By the way, are you sure that you have new drivers??
It is impossible to turn on OEM Unlock in this state.
The only mode in which you can boot your phone, is download mode. Another method exists, but you need to dissasable your phone.
Thankyou, I think I saw the OEM unlock off on the new rom. Thanks, I'll try flashing the stock rom again.?
And also can you tell the other way..because I once tried flashing the stock rom which I got from Pangu.com, but it didn't work..

Try to use SamFirm. This programm download official firmware of Samsung (i dunno, actually, from where it takes official roms). With this programm you can download firmware for each Samsung model))
But it is really works. Also, you can try Samsung Smart Switch. It will erase your phone. But it's offiicial Samsung Software, and it will use official rom.
Samsung Switch does not detect my device it says unsupported device.
Nonono. Enter in download mode, than in top of programm look for restore or something similiar (cannot remember). Enter model and S/N of your phone. And click recover, or something similiar (really cannot remember )
---------- Post added at 06:07 PM ---------- Previous post was at 06:04 PM ----------
Or just use SamFirm with odin
---------- Post added at 06:10 PM ---------- Previous post was at 06:07 PM ----------
And how it can say that your device is unsupported, if galaxy s4 mini (gt-i9195) from 2013 year support Smart Switch.

Try chimera a pc software that unlocks frp lock and tells u which stock rom is suitable for your version
