Hi everyone, I use an unlocked Sprint Note 4 with Cricket/at&t. I understood that by unlocking that I would only ever achieve HSPA+ speeds because Sprint locks the LTE band's available. I accepted that, as it didn't bother me and I mainly use Wifi, but that didn't stop me from trying.
All my attempts never seemed to make a difference, until the other week, I finally realized that LTE must not be available at my home. Because while I was driving I noticed I had a LTE signal, which was a complete shock to me. So I did some testing and I only received HSPA at home with all my phones.
Conclusion:
So that means one of the steps I did must have activated LTE. I do have to force it to connect sometimes with phone info shortcut. Or at&t is broadcasting on one of sprints bands in that area.
If anyone is interested in this, I do believe I know the exact steps to replicate this. If this shows interest, I will turn this post into a guide. This would be my first guide, so bear with me.
Edit: After further testing, I'm concluding that I'm only getting Lte in certain area, so it must be that at&t is using one of the Sprint bands there. If something changes, I'll update!
Edit 12/11/16 - only getting lte at certain place. It's band 2. Added pic below.
Pics below show Lte. You can see from crickets website that 4g is only 4mbps and Lte is 8mbps.

I would be more than interested in knowing how you unlocked the LTE Bands because (you must be aware through my previous posts) I too use unlocked N910P with a GSM SIM but all I get is H+.
I did try to unlock the LTE bands using a thread on XDA but it did not work as the tool wasn't even able to recognize the phone.
Hence, a step-by-step guide would be appreciated regarding the same.

I'm not sure if I unlocked them or not.
This just all became aware to me that i have lte. So I'm still testing. It seems like I'm only getting lte in one certain area. I don't know if maybe at&t is using a sprint band in that area. And that's what is making it possible.
I also don't know if anyone one thing i did made this possible. I will edit my post with all my changes. And you can test to see if it changes anything for you. Give me a bit.

I'm also on a domestic unlocked 910p with cricket, and have noticed LTE popping up from time to time. It's not consistent though. I just assumed it was because I hadn't changed my network mode to GSM/UTMS. I was driving at the time so I couldn't check to see if it was actually working.

I've been testing cm 14. So I just now went back to custom stock. When I go back to work today in gonna do more testing. But after seeing your experience and my assumption, I'm thinking that I don't have any more lte bands. But just that att is using one of the bands this phone has.
I'll keep you all posted.
Im also interested, I'm using AT&T towers as well through straight talk... but ive only ever been able to get 3g. But more so than not lately, unfortunately, ive been getting stuck with GSM service, not even 3g.. So if you figure something out that'd b great , otherwise any tips to improve my speed capabilities would b much appreciated. . And just 2-3 miles away is an AT&T tower so i should be capable of much more.

I just updated my post.
I'm concluding I'm only getting Lte in certain area. So at&t must be using Sprint band there, or something like that. But no other bands are unlocked.

Really, I don't know how I get it in area I get it. But it's funny you commented. Because I was just getting on here to update.
I'm at my sister's where I get Lte. So I installed an app to find more info.
Here's the pic. I'm on band 2 here in western pa. Don't know how yet. Don't travel to much to compare. But this is only place I get Lte. So I'm still trying to figure out what and how I did.
Any how here's the pics
The pic shows 910t because that's the build id i use in my build.prop.
Just 1 quick off topic question.
Which custom stock Rom is stable and capable of daily driving for the Sprint Note 4?

I'm just gonna list some of the newer ones that are still being developed. But there are also more stable builds out there but they're no longer being improved upon. = final build. (Ex. Any of @tx_dbs_tx older roms are very stable= MOAR rom, Note 5 rom, Mr Wonderful)
Back to current ones,
If you want a very customizable rom then Dtux Rom here is great. I use it myself when I'm not testing another. Plus Dev is getting ready to put out v7 very soon.
Then there's new CM14 here. Still getting all the bugs out but is very stable enough for daily driver. If you want Nouget then it's only option right now. Or if you want a minimal aosp rom, then it's the way to go.
Then a lot of people like trying the Note 7 ports, specifically one of these here. But it requires some work to get service working. Personally I'd wait til @tx_dbs_tx releases his Note 7 port. Won't be long, i hope. But it'll be tailored for our device.
There you go, that's my personal opinion through experience. It just depends on what you looking for. But all of them are stable. Good luck!
Edit. I just re-read your question. If your looking for a stockish rom. I'd suggest Mr Wonderful here! http://forum.xda-developers.com/note-4-sprint/development/rom-t3396498
Read next post!
Or you can try Dtux but just don't install the modset, if you don't want all the custom stuff.

Sprint Note 7 port is very close to a public beta release! Keep looking in the Sprint N4 development forum ETA should be before Xmas. Expect only minor bugs such as fingerprint scanner and always on display. otherwise completely functioning and pure Sprint N7 rom. I will move on to the next available Samsung Nougat rom if I have the time and patience and if I haven't upgraded my phone by then. Otherwise this N7 port will be my last rom for the Sprint N4. I like to go out with a big BANG!

I've read up on this and understand it is supposed to be normal, but man does it make my phone so much worse. Every single time a page loads it has to switch from 3G to H. My reception seems like it sucks so bad because of this. Sometimes it doesn't switch. I get good bars everywhere I go, but it feels like I have terrible reception.
I've never understood radios and such. I'm rooted with the stock rom. Would this be better if I tried cyanogenmod with a different radio? There has to be a fix for this issue.
If you solve this for me, I'll kiss you through the internet.
I don't think kissing anyone over the internet would make them want to help you any more
Its how the phone works, its supposed to switch to 3G to H. H comes on when data is more active.
What radio are you using?

the bars are for your gsm radio, telephone calls. they dont give you an idea on data speeds. do a speed test to see how good of a data connection you have.

I knew the bars are for phone calls, but I'm in the city of Chicago and have a hard time believing my data is as bad as it seems. I'll have plenty of times where it shows 3G connection and doesn't switch to H, therefore no data comes through. I've had plenty of times where I didn't believe I wasn't getting data, so I reset my phone and sure enough - data!
I do believe something could be wrong with my specific phone. I might need to try a full reset or flash cyanogenmod. I just didn't want to do that. Especially without checking with you genius's beforehand!

The radio is .48.. Baseband is Radio. You can go to http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2087227 and try out other radio to see if you get better reception.
If you're in a TMO 4G LTE area you can try activating LTE to see if you'd like it any more.

I can do that, but I'll first have to figure out how to do it. For some reason my drivers say they don't work and it won't let me flash clockwork mod. I was going to make another post about it after I figured this out. Do you think radio could be the issue?
Also, I am on Tmobile, but I thought LTE didn't really work since it was ATT band 4 or something and only very specific areas had it?

Well, I just found out my APN was the one used when you are on LTE. I changed it to the non LTE version and will test over the next few days. If that was my problem, I'm going to be upset at the Tmobile lady who put in that info.
Please do let us know if it's any better after using the epc APN.
If you flash to the .33 radio, the LTE will turn on and it's very good at holding a data connection. It's just when it's not available and my phone connects to hspa+. I have similar problems as you. My signal indicator works great and its blue but no internet. I'm wondering if i'll need to keep switching apns. I hope not.

Well, I did my commute this morning and there really was no change. It could be a combination of poor data reception areas and slow switching. I'd like to try to flash a new radio, but I don't know how. I can start a new thread about this, but I'll at least mention my problem here. I installed the Nexus 4 Toolkit and went through all the steps to make sure the drivers were installed correctly and such. I did this a long time ago when I rooted the phone. But something is wrong and it doesn't let me flash clockworkmod. It tells me to go through the steps again, which I have tried.
Is there a way to flash a new radio without clockwordmod?

Lte is amazing in Chicago but not as strong in Chicagoland. However, hspa+ is garbage in Chicago but better in Chicago land.
As for cwm, I prefer twrp. You can just download goo manager from the app store and it will install twrp for you. As far as I know you need to use a custom Rom that supports the older radios or else your calling might mess up. I use aokp.

I actually tried that a few weeks ago, before I knew what I was doing. I wasn't able to flash it because I didn't have a custom recovery. I'm glad I went to CyanogenMod though. It seems to be faster and there are little things that make it better than stock.

Yeah CM has a lot of nice additions, Paranoid is pretty slick...been a fan of that one on multiple devices. It's built around swapping ui dpi...so you can set your phone to act like a phablet or tablet per app...ie...make gmail look like it does on your tablet on your phone. Let's you drop out the soft keys and replace them with a pop up slide wheel/etc and has a lot of the AOSP and CM features like the quick notification toggles etc.
Hello all,
I have an XT907, bootloader unlocked, running CM11 very well. I am planning to go to London for a week in February, and I would like to buy a micro sim to use while I am there. I have scoured the threads trying to make sense of the international/micro-sim situation, and I am totally lost. Here's what I need to know:
Can I take my phone to London, pop out my Verizon micro-sim, pop in an O2 sim and use it without making any other changes? (I did this a couple of years ago with a jail-broken iPhone and it worked beautifully...)
Sub-questions, which can be ignored if the simple answer is "yes": do I need to call Verizon to get them to unlock the phone?
Are there GSM issues, which I tend to ignore, since my carrier is Verizon, and, if there are, have they been patched in this rom?
Thanks in advance. Hoping somebody can answer.

This may take care of all your needs. Use cwmr 6046 or philz 6079 only. Backup your current rom before doing anything.
Keep in mind that even these recoveries do not save all your partitions. Some partitions are only on your phone. /persist, /modem & /firmware are the most important ones NOT saved! Try it out. If you do not want to delve into RSD lite & PC only hacking, stop. All you need to restore our latest xml via RSD is here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2391641
Go
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2246081
Subsitute the op's twrp bu: http://yadi.sk/d/oufUHo_F4Ehfh for Avst_ZaYAC_MODsmXBIN.cwmr.zip
You will restore it rather than install it.
And fit it into my other steps in Post 17
Using philz v 6097 cwmr, which will restore twrp format too.
I cannot recommend twrp anymore.
You will have full vzw 4g & I think the star of the setup, the droid razr widget should not break your 4g. more on DRW here You may need FireFox to get the translate link to work.
Do test it all out & save it w/ philz.
Messing with the "select radio band" (3 dot menu) with the hidden app "phone info" [also known as *#*#4636#*#* from the dialer] will break 4g /modem & result in 3g to 1x only. Feel free to do anything else from Phone Info.
Once a combination of partitions are broken RSD is the only fix.
Just restore to the ...94 xml and then the partitions not handled by our recoveries, get fixed and a restore via philz puts all right again [some from RSD & most from the recovery].
Latest Philz zip http://goo.im/devs/philz_touch/CWM_Advanced_Edition

Wow. Thank you SO much for the detailed reply.
Unfortunately, all of this sounds very complicated to me-- I have never messed around with radios/modems, and really love the way my phone works, here, now, in the United States.
I take it that your one word answer is, "no, your phone will not work if you bring it to Europe and pop in a sim..."?
If so, given that I am only going once, for six days, I might just pull out that old iPhone and limp along with that.
Again, I am so grateful for the time you took to point me in the right direction. Sorry to be such a wimp.

If so, given that I am only going once, for six days, I might just pull out that old iPhone and limp along with that.
Again, I am so grateful for the time you took to point me in the right direction. Sorry to be such a wimp.

Me and My GF just traveled through England over Xmas
My phone was on 4.4 by Dhacker Everything Worked up to 3G (Using Tmobile US, Tombile DE and NetzClub (O2))
My GF phone was on Latest Stock Everything Worked up to H+ (O2 and Tmobile DE) <--- But we had to do a GSM so it stopped Dropping Comnnecting.

I think this could be good news. I'm using CM11 nightly, which I think is not that different from Dhacker. All you did was pop in the microsim?
I really don't want to wreck my current phone, which works, just to get a few days of better phone service on vacation.

I will search for tutorials about flashing that baseband-- is it a simple enough process? Will it affect how my phone works on Verizon when I return?
Also, for others trying to figure this stuff out, I found this: http://www.internauta37.altervista.org/how-and-patch-fully-enable-gsm-verizon-cdma-phones-android by one of the XDA members which is not exactly a "for dummies" tutorial but does begin to outline the issues.

She Gained that baseband by downloading the Stock Rom with that Baseband.
I have to get back to my home computer to get that link.
Its a Dev Site where u can download all the Stock roms for our Phone.
Oh my gosh!! I have that baseband already. Phew! One less thing on my "to do" list.
Okay, last question, I promise. I have read, and think I understand, the blog tutorial about enabling GSM. But it sounds from your post like I do not have to edit my build.prop at all, if I am running CM11 and have the baseband you mentioned. I apologize for repeating my question again and again, but I am a little slow.

In this Particular case you don't need to do that.
Enabeling GSM and Editing Build Prop is Mainly for Tmobile USA and AT&T or any USA GSM carrier.
But on some CM11 it may be required since it was not made for GSM, most newer ones are though.
That's where u look for the GSM Fix thing.
The only thing you May have to hunt down are the info for Data if it doesn't Auto install itself from the Euro SIM.
International SIM normally Require a PIN and it will Auto install a SIM app to correct its Data Settings.
Thanks! Based on your helpful clarification I will leave it alone.

Hi all,
To all the Aussies here who have and/or going to be purchasing the S6. Seeing what everyone's experience is with the phone as well as sharing ideas to each and every one. I myself have been experimenting with Android phones since Galaxy S3, moving onto phones such Xperia, Nexus & more.

Okay, how do you get the best out of a SM-G920i Galaxy S6?
Firstly, may I just say follow these instructions to the letter before coming to me with questions. I have spent the best part of five years tinkering with my own i9000, then a i9100, then a i9505. I've also done research across XDA-Developers and a number of other Android forums, taking in and compiling the very best information that actually works time and again.
Rule Number One? Start afresh! The advice I give everyone regardless of what device you have is, Back the damn thing up first! It's called a nandroid backup, Google it - and make sure you clean all traces of the old firmware out of your phone thoroughly with a full factory reset that includes a data/system/cache/Dalvik cache wipe. More often than not, the dramas people have when they get up and running on a newly flashed ROM (or, issues in restarting the device after a flash) can be directly attributed to remnants of the old ROM interfering with the new. This is especially so for flashing via Recovery. If you use Odin to flash a Stock firmware, it pretty much smashes its way over the top of whatever you've got installed, and gives you a fresh palate to work with. Main thing to remember is, Back up your device - all your photos and music, etc. - to your PC. The most important step? BACKUP YOUR DEVICE'S EFS FOLDER!!! This is a location where information pertaining to your device's IMEI (International Mobile-station Equipment Identity) number are stored, and this folder can sometimes be wiped when you flash a ROM. Read this excellent guide for a thorough explanation of the how's and why's of this very important piece of the Android puzzle (thanks to Mr.W0lf)...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s6/general/tool-backup-restore-efs-partition-t3062487
Of course, it's much easier for any phone app. written for the purpose to do these backup tasks when the device is rooted, which is why I suggest doing it. My thoughts on OEM's controlling how us 'power-users' play with our expensive toys are straight to the point - I own it, I paid for it, I should be able to do whatever I like to it and run it how I see fit!
You'll find throughout XDA a number of device-specific threads and posts about how to gain root access to your device. One thing you'll definitely need is what's known as a 'rooted kernel'. The one just below can be used on any SM-G920i or SM-G925i running Lollipop 5.1.1, and if you have issues with what to do or how to do it, post a Help request on that thread (thanks to g.lewarne)...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s6/samsung-galaxy-s-6--s-6-edge-unified-development/kernel-stockmod-kernel-t3100395
The specific file you are looking for is under the heading UniKernel v6-0001 ODIN FLASHABLE. Again, you use Odin to 'flash' that into your phone, in exactly the same way you flash the Stock ROM. I will stress this point: IT WILL 'TRIP KNOX', and NO! There's NO RESETTING THAT TRIP COUNTER! There's no way back from breaking Knox, so you do it at your own risk!
As of right now, the newest release of the Stock firmware for the SM-G920i is waiting for download at Samsung-Firmware.org.
Grab the 1.54GB ZIP archive known as... Australian Stock Unbranded XSA Lollipop ROM (5.1.1).
DO NOT grab the Optus (OPS) or Vodafone (VAU) one - or any other 'carrier-branded' firmware - unless you want to fill your device with rubbish and wait longer for a larger file to download. Create a New folder on your Windows Desktop, then (using WinRAR or 7ZIP) extract the contents of the ZIP you downloaded into that folder.
Next, go grab a nice little Windows program called Odin, available here...
http://www.samsungodindownload.com/odindownload/#.Vd5ZMPmqqko
While you're there, grab the Samsung USB drivers and the ADB Fastboot Tool, if you haven't got them already. Install them, and we'll move forward.
Odin is what you use to 'flash' the new firmware into your phone. The application is already pre-configured, so its a simple case of
start your phone in 'Download Mode',
start the app. on your PC,
connect the phone to the PC via USB,
click the AP button on the app.,
navigate to where you extracted the G920IDVU2COGA_G920IXSA2COGA_G920IDVU2COGA_HOME.tar.md5 file,
click Open,
wait until the app. loads up the ROM, then
click Start
There's plenty of advice and assistance available here on XDA about Odin, so I won't go full-tilt into details on how to use it, other than what I've written above. The flashing process does take a bit of time, and there's also a bit of a wait for the device to reach the first config screen. Patience is a virtue!
Next, go and find yourself a 'custom ROM'. The list of Original (Custom) ROMs for the SM-G92xx series that are shared here on XDA can be seen by following the link below...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s6/development
For custom ROMs that are 'outside the box' (so to speak), check out the thread below...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s6/orig-development
If you have questions about the ROM itself, how to 'flash' the ROM, or anything else about that particular release, ask them of the ROM Chef in the thread where you got it from. They're the ones who cooked it, so they've already gone through the trials and errors and successes of getting their ROM working on your device, making them the best guys and gals to ask if you have dramas with the ROM. 99.9% of the time the ROM Chef's thread will have in the first couple of posts Instructions on How To Flash, FAQ's, known issues, etc.
Now, if you're having issues with carrier network connectivity, call quality, mobile internet etc., it could be either your network APN (Access Point Name) settings or your ROM's 'modem' package. APN settings are within the phone's Network setup menu. The best list of Australian carrier APN's I've found is at Ausdroid Forums. Modems are a sort of 'try them until you get one you're happy with' kind of thing, and the best list of modems and bootloaders for the SM-G92xx Series is hosted by XDA's very own Legend Of The S6, edgarf28 at...

Myself I received the phone from Optus on 10/04/15. Phone itself is pretty sweet. Ordered the Sapphire black. Loving the finger print scanner.
Although I've had issues with Optus. Took 5 days for them to activate my service. Still struggling to get 4G and have very weak signal (this is at Sydney Olympic Park). Wondering if it's sim related as it happens at different locations. Hopefully not the phone cause it's brilliant. Just got my Ringke Slim clear case too. [emoji51]

G'day fellow Aussie.
I got the Telstra 32gb S6 in black sapphire. Loving it. I will admit though, coming from the M7, I wasn't overly thrilled by it but it's growing on me.
Has anyone tried flashing TWRP yet?

I've had the S6 from Telstra since April 13. I don't notice any network problems. Telstra certified this phone with the blue tick so its testing must have found no reception problems. Battery life is a noticeable step back fro the S5.

Haven't roots or flashed TWRP yet. Although I'm contemplating on flashing a custom rom if I do. Just a matter of waiting for more development and choosing the right one. I really like the finger print scanner so hopefully that can stay.
G'day mates!
Root works fine but TWRP doesn' work.
Also I got the deep sleep issue now and formatting the cache didn't fix it...
How you guys finding the battery life? So far I am able to get. Close to a full day day with about 4 hrs screen on time.
Yeah I'm not overly impressed by the battery life but with the quick charger it's really a non issue. I can usually get around 10 hours or so of battery life, with around 5 hours of screen on time.

That's what I've experienced too. Probably needs an update from perhaps to update the radio.
In saying that though I've gotten a sim replacement and noticed it improve.
I got my black 64 edge from **** smith outright , got it 10am on the 10th so very happy. No telstra branding and my updates should come faster as it's not branded . My old telsra htc m8 still does not have lollipop .
Anyways I love this phone and my signal is great on telstra 4gx network and my WiFi strength is better also now .
No signal issues here on Vodafone. Same bars as was on my Sony Z3. Great phone, but 5.0.2 is a little buggy. Really need 5.1

I don't have any problem with mine. S6 on Optus 4G
Only getting 2 bars on Telstra 4G in areas where I would normally get 4 with my old S3 (3G). Still seem to get pretty decent speeds on 4G though: http://www.speedtest.net/my-result/a/1261307969
Apart from the signal issues pretty happy with the S6 so far. Love the fingerprint scanner.
Has anyone got TWRP to work?
I've tried installing it via Odin, ADB, and Flashify but all results in freezing at the boot logo when trying to enter recovery

4G works differently to 3G. You could have 1 bar and still hit over 50Mbps. The signal bars are not actually relevant as long as you're on 4G, you're good unless you live in an area where you switch between 3G and 4G often, this could affect battery as your device switches networks often.
Got my Black S6 64gb from Telstra yesterday. Pretty damn nice! Upgraded from Nexus 5, best thing I like is the audio quality via earphones, brings my Shure 425 to life!

For the ones who are lazy in reading comments, this is the reason that this guy gives for the delay:
"Verizon delays on latest smartphones are due to Nationwide HD Voice. We want to make sure Software updates for HD Voice service is acceptable and does not impact voice quality. Verizon is the only company that has nationwide HD Voice in the USA. AT&T just has most metro cities here and there. T-Mobile and Sprint are way behind"
:good:
P.D. Maybe now is the time for the Maxx's users to complain about not getting 5.1 as well as the Turbo.
Doesn't the iPhone 6 have HD Voice already? I wonder why they didn't need to delay its release by months so they can test it.

From the same guy:
AC 1.0 is not just network related. The unique situation Verizon finds itself is having its original CDMA voice network.. Hard for us to dance around between LTE and CDMA to support VoLTE due to best signal strength in different environments. So with each device update, there is usually a few Qualcomm patches to improve that transition and try to cover all possible calling scenarios our customers may face in our network. And also supporting XLTE new bands. Some device updates turn on a new LTE band on a phone that might have been dormant in an earlier software build.
And Qualcomm is not perfect, so some times when they improve on thing, they break another. So my job and many others in Verizon is to double check all software changes our devices take in... Hence the delay

Motorola is small potatoes on budget compared to Samsung and Apple. Delays are usually due to funding for test verifications on new device software.

Take "mid-June" with a grain of salt.
All that means is it probably won't come BEFORE then.
Note the Google + post has been deleted which was referenced in the op. So, actually there is no date promise anymore...
Yeah, there's a lot of built up anger towards Motorola and Verizon (should be directed towards Verizon), so any engineers/spokespeople who publicly post even good news at this point will get lots of backlash for broken promises, lack of past communication -- and rightly so. They need to learn from this instead of running away from it.

Nexus 6 is near identical internals.
VoLTE works fine sans camera and I'm certain that is software related.
So I'd take the VoLTE cause for the hold up with a grain of salt too. Especially since Verizon was so willing to ship it last year when it was clearly broken and would have shown in testing.

I was asking about the Kingroot for Droid Turbo.
Just downloaded Resurrection Remix and have to say I'm liking it a bit better than stock oxegen OS there are so many features and settings to get everything just how you like it! Seems to aslo support OTA (Not sure if that's just for android or the ROM updates as well) if you know please let me know! But anyone looking for a ROM check it out it's easy to install runs stable and butter smooth!
this thread will get flooded with this recommendation so ill post it as first reply:
FreedomOS. Hands down the best rom out there. Nothing compares to stock. Lineage has so many issues even on "Stable" builds. the one that annoys me most is the random throttling of my mobile data speed. Never been on LineageOS for more than 3 days.

I mean I am on wifi most of the time and twitter and email load the same on 3G as they do LTE so I'll take the super fast powerful phone that is 100% customizable over a phone that's limited just to have LTE. As far as paying for service I'm not paying anything I'm on a business plan and pay nothing. If I ever switch off of that I'll go with a gsm carrier to get full support.

I havent. I dont really care to swap off freedomos for anything else. Its usually buggy junk. Phone works dont fix it. I too shopped around like you to find a rom with better battery life but to no avail. If these roms do save you battery then it's a couple extra minutes at best. Doesn't make it worth all the flaws. Freedomos is just stock but you dont have to install all the google crap.
