Complete(Write) Operation failed in ODIN - SM-J500F - Samsung Galaxy J5 Questions & Answers

Hi,
I am facing this error while flashing the TWRP.
I tried updating the new firmware from sammobile and its not working.
Actual problem with my device is I have forgotten the google ID synced with the phone and now after the flash it is asking to enter the google email ID associated with the phone earlier and nothing is helping. I tried updating firmware but its not helping though firmware is updated successfully issue remains exist.
I was trying to install TRWP but it fails while flashing from ODIN and throws Complete(Write) Operation failed error.
Could any one please be advised the solution on it.
Help is appreciated at earliest. Thanks

I'm sorry mate but I aint got s clue as to what you can do. The only thing I can think of is to try a different firmware. What are trying to install ? 6.1 or 5.1.1 ?
I would try going up or down depending on what your running.
Is there no way that you can contact Google and ask for your ID ?
Can you access the files on your phone via a PC ?
I would have thought that when you flashed via Odin that it would just overwrite what ever was on the phone before ?
Have you tried to root it before TWRP ?
I'm sure that it will get sorted people are good in here
But it's
All very strange

Hey thanks fro quick response.
I am trying to install 5.1.1
I gonna go for 6.1 now. Its getting downloaded .. download sucks though from sammobile. Download is very slow.
No way to contact google and the one who used this phone before.
And yes I able to access file though phone stuck at start mode asking for google ID already synced with phone.
Have you got link for google drive for 6.1 ?

Thanks for the reply bro..
Though normal recovery was the first choice which was not helpful...
I have solved the issue after doing lot of experiments..
If any one has same issue please follow the steps. I hope it helps the needy
1. Download and install RealTerm program
2. Download and copy com.rootjunky.frpbypass-1.0.apk to the device micro sdcard or download once into the device
3. start phone and connect to WIFI also plug into the computer with your usb cable
4. start RealTerm on your pc and under pisplay check the box HALF DUPLEX
5. right click on my computer and select manage once it opens click device manager then modems
6. under modems you should see a Samsung device. right click it then select properties
7. once the properties window opens select modem tab and see what port it is on like com5 for an example
8. now that you know the com port number close all device manager windows and open RealTerm again
9. under the ports tab in RealTerm enter your port number then click change.
10. next click the send tab. you will need to send these two commands with the Send ASCII button

Hi, I have j510fn and I was a rom tester,
I have a problem since I flashed
J510FNXXU2APK6_J510FNODD2APK2_J510FNXXU2APK2_HOME.tar.md5
to test light stock rom v3 from Kingraheel
what happens is that NOW I can't flash any other firmware by odin... when I click START it says FAIL and in my device there is this text in red
SW REV CHECK FAIL : [aboot]Fused 2 > Binary 1
I just want to flash my OFFICIAL firmware
J510FNXXU1APG1_J510FNPHE1APG1_J510FNXWU1APFC_HOME.tar.md5
but I can't... only APK6 firmware works on odin... any other firmware works.... can you help me?
I don't have any NANDROID backup of previous versions... only of my actual firmware... APK6
My computer does not detect my device... I have the drivers installed, and I tried on all the USB ports... it charges but not open files.... PLEASE HELP
---------------------------------------
SOLVED, SAME PROBLEM? CONTACT ME

Here is HOW I SOLVED IT:
This error happens when you before have updated from "U1" to "U2" and then you try to flash a firmware with "U1" (UX appears in the firmware "name")
So, the simple solution is to flash the stock firmware with the same "UX" that you had before your device gor bricked.
In my case, testing KingRaheel's ROMS I flashed an Indian firmware (...U2APK6...) at this moment I didn't know I ****ed up. But don't worry, I simply had updated the "U" and how I didn't know it, I tried to flash lots and lots of firmwares with "U1" without knowing what was happening. After long nights, I tried to flash my last firmware from SPAIN (PHE) with "U2" and it worked.
I hope I helped you. I used SM-J510FN (J5 2016)
If you have another device, try the same but with your current model, any questions, ask by twitter/dm
Sent from my SM-J510FN using XDA Labs

I upgrade from galaxy tab 3v rom to galaxy tab 4 ROM, but it says:

Can I update my Galaxy Grand Prime (SM-G530H) to Lollipop?

My sister's phone is Galaxy Grand Prime and still running Android 4.4.4. I've searched over the net and there is Lollipop update already for some countries. There's still no update here in the Philippines. Can I update this device using firmwares from other countries? Thanks!

If I flashed Lollipop on this device, all data stored on my device will be deleted?
And I searched the latest version of odin, it is now 3.12.3.

As @waleeds1 said, No. But I recommend you to take backup of all your data nd do a factory reset after you flash Lollipop firmware.
That way you won't get any lags or performance glitches.

Make sure you've a good backup. Nd also you've Samsung USB drivers already installed in your PC.
Power off your device nd boot in download mode by pressing Volume Down + Home + Power Buttons together.
Then open Odin nd connect your phone to PC via data cable nd press volume Up key on phone, then if it shows you "Added" in Odin you're good to go.
Select the AP option nd select the firmware which you've downloaded. Now it'll take some time to verify the md5 as depending upon the speed of your PC. Once it has verified you'll be able to click on other options. So now you've to click on Start nd make sure you don't move your device or the connection doesn't cut off or your device might get hard bricked.
That's it, the flashing time would be about 4-5 minutes. After it is flashed the phone will reboot nd now you can factory reset the device properly for a clean new device.
I've told everything you needed to know.
Enjoy!

The thing you said is correct but I recommend first start your phone without factory reseting @jelmerpeligrino becuase if u dont face any performance or other issues. But if u wish to factory then its still a good choice

Yes I told that in my second post.
Actually I believe he has been using Kitkat from a long time nd for most of the apps, the things have changed. The API differences creates certain problems as it is recommended by Samsung itself to factory reset the device after Android version change.
From Kitkat to Kitkat nd Lollipop to Lollipop factory reset is not needed but for SDK changing it is needed.

Galaxy Note 4 N910G Problem after trying to update phone stucks can't perform nothing

Hello. Here is my first post. So if sth is not clear tell me to add it.
I have a galaxy note 4 N910G. When the message for update came i accepted. The update was downloaded but then the problems started. Phone closed and didn't opened again. i waited for half an hour but nothing. So i searched on internet for what to do. I removed the battery and bla bla. The phone opened and the screen said Could not do normal boot. etc. When i go to perform a hard reset or soft reset it works but. The phone opens at the old version and it is really slow than ever. Also the phone after this can't perform a restart or if i shut it down i have to remove the battery and press the power button one minute and then i put the battery and it works but really really slow. When i hit on the settings for a reset the phone closes and don't open again. Also when i hit update software it says that failed to communicate to server try again when the phone is connected to a working wifi.
Flashing the stock rom again is not possible odin and kies report faults. Any ideas? How to have my phone back again? Maybe root the phone?
Thank you.

Now the phone is working completely. I installed normally the software and it seems ok. Meanwhile when i have some multitasking the phone seems to freak out. The screen is going off and after secs again on.
Is there something i can do or this normal for this phone?
Thanks a lot
Problem again. When i installed the rom the phone gave me a notification for an update for improvement of performance and bugs.
I accepted because the phone was really slow. After that i accepted to install the update then the phone closes the update is installed and when it finished the phone closed and not opened again after waiting for half an hour. when i tryied to open it the phones starts to install the same update again but the same the phones shuts down. I tried to flash again the rom and here is the log of the odin:

Troubleshoot very weird boot problem

Sorry for the long post.
Got this sprint S7 as a 2nd hand unlocked phone a while back and worked quite nicely for almost a year. Now very often when I reboot it gets stuck on the LTE boot logo. While it is at it, it will burn through the battery in like 30m-1h, the phone gets very hot. This has already happened a handful of times so I try to never reboot unless very necessary. This doesn't happen on every single reboot though.
Right now it's showing the same issue. Before I've notice it'll do this for a few days and the like magic will start working again. It sucks because right now my phone is as good as dead.
The phone is not rooted and it's running stock ROM, with latest firmware and all updates(I checked for updates a couple days ago and there was none), but I don't know which exact version is at.
I've already tried rebooting into recovery and powering off and restarting from there. But no luck.
I had a strong suspicion this was due to switching sim cards (I moved a few months ago) and sometimes a "UICC unlock needed" (or sth like that) message has been shown but the phone continues to work. Today a friend mentioned it could be the battery. He said if the battery is damaged it could be causing problems on boot but I have no clue if that's true and/or how to check for it.
I'd thank anyone who could tell me how to troubleshoot this problem and find the real cause. I'm comfortable following some technical instruction to be able to grab logs from linux command line if someone taught me how.
Thanks in advance!

Have you tried reflashing the stock firmware via odin? If you could tell me which network you're using it on, I could point you to the firmware you would need. Here's a basic overview for the phones and their corresponding firmwares:
SM-G93OP- Sprint
SM-G930T- T-Mobile
SM-G930A- AT&T
SM-G930V- Verizon
SM-G930U- Universal, but you need the correct version of it for your carrier.

Hi TheFlipSide,
I have a sprint version so I have SM-G93OP- Sprint
It is possible something might have gone wrong at some point in time but I have done factory resets before, I'm skeptical that the firmware itself could be the issue but I'm happy to give it a try.
Could you point me to the files needed to be sure I'm on the most accurate firemware (CP, BOOT, etc type of files).
Also, any issues with my phone being up to date with all the updates?
Personally I'd be happier to be able to flash sth like LineageOS but AFAIU there's not much support for this phone.

You can't flash LineageOS on this phone because the bootloader is locked. You can get ODIN to flash the firmware with from here:

Unzip it and click on the ODIN3 v3.12.7 file, you don't need to install anything it opens as an app.
Grab the firmware from here: http://updato.com/firmware-archive-select-model?record=48A2011F925C11E7963AFA163EE8F90B
Unzip it and select the files through odin:
CP in CP.
CSC in CSC.
AP in AP.
BL in BL.
Then go into options and select auto reboot and repartition, and keep everything else unchecked.
Hit start and wait for the firmware to flash.
Go into stock recovery, and wipe cache and factory reset.
Hit thanks on the posts if I helped you.
TheFlipSide thanks so much for helping me out.
Quick questions. The firmware link you sent is for SM-G930U. But AFAIK my phone is SM-G930P (Sprint model), since it even shows the Sprint animation on boot. Let me know if that was a small mistake or if theres a good reason to flash the Universal version on a sprint phone.
Also, assuming it was a small mistake I'm looking at that firmware page. Looks like the latest version for the SM-G930P comes in 3 flavors: VMU, XAS and SPR.
Do you know what those are and which one should i get?
Thanks again in advance!

Use the SPR variant of the SM G930U firmware, as it comes without the Sprint bloat. If you still want to use the SM-G930P firmware, get it here: http://updato.com/firmware-archive-select-model?record=080CDA3799FF11E7963AFA163EE8F90B

Hi, sorry for the delay, life got in the way. So I downloaded the universal version SM-G930U (SPR) and followed the instructions and Odin failed.

It's stuck in the blue "installing system update" page only for a second, then some white text on black screen shows up, and then it goes back to the blue page, and repeats. Basically is trying to boot into recovery forever.
Trying to reboot manually to get into download mode, or anything else also doesn't work.

You can't flash the U firmware if you are on the latest sprint firmware. Download the latest firmware from here
And follow the same directions for placing files into ODIN. You are getting the PIT error because of bootloader updates.

Hi Ivpre, thanks a lot for jumping in. So I managed to get my phone in download mode again. Also I google one more error that was showing up in the phone screen "Fuse 5 > aboot 4" (or sth like that, I can't remember exactly) and the internetz said that it was indeed due to having a version missmatch, the new one should be higher.
So I downloaded the latest G930P from sammobile site (G930PVPU5BQJ3) and got it to work again. I also found another thread to said the only thing to do is wait until a new G930U comes out.
What I don't fully get is that now that I've installed "latest" firmware. As soon as I configured the phone it said a new update is available. If I update it now, and a new version of G930U also comes out in a bit, will that mean I'll remain one version ahead? Should I not apply any updates until a new version of G930U is out? or should I try downgrading the current G930P ?
Thanks!

Yeah, apparently they just released a small update (QK3 maybe?) that patched an exploit. That update was just released the other day. You can take it or leave it, it shouldn't prevent you from installing the U firmware when it is updated.
If you really want to install the U firmware and can't wait, you can research PIT files, but it can lead to fully breaking the device if you mess up...personally, I would just wait. It was an old method that would work, but I'm not sure if it works on the new bootloader updates.
Hi Guys,
I'm on the same boat as joel_gil,
I've got S7 (originally purchased on sprint USA network) and now I've unlocked it using idoneapps without root.
I'm on G930PVPU5BQJ3 firmware at the moment and I'd like to flash G930U firmware which is network unlocked and not bloatware free.
I've downloaded the firmware below multiple times from sammobile.com and tried flashing using latest Odin 3.12.10 and everytime I am getting error message.
https://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/galaxy-s7/SM-G930U/SPR/download/G930UUES4BQL1/201542/
I have also tried XAS version as well but same result
SW check failed aboot fused 5 > binary 4 message.
I've got FRP and OEM unchecked and still its giving me same error.
I'd appreciate if you guys can have a look and help me please.
Many thanks in advance guys

You can't install the U firmware...the bootloader binary files are different. You will have to wait for the U firmware to catch up in order to install it. However, you can install the latest Sprint firmware without any issue.
I fixed it.
5 > BINARY 4 error, has to do with a Version 5 bootloader Sprint came out with in 2018. The fact that this is only affected by the SM-G390P further complicates things for the average user. Users on version 5 bootloader will need to wait until/If a version 5 universal bootloader for the SM-G930U to get unbloated firmware. Information on restoring your S7 SM-G930P to where you left off before you started trying to root your phone can be found below. More info on Sprint F'n us and BL Version 5, and how to tell the files apart can be found here
https://www.arencambre.com/blog/2018...omment-page-1/. There was a post on XDA (which I can't find) which gave the idea that Sprint came out with this version 5 bootloader to prevent people from flashing the phones to the U version and going overseas with them.
The stock files for the first version of Sprint Version 5 bootloader firmware dated 1-1-18 can be found here:
https://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/galaxy-s7/SM-G930P/SPR/download/G930PVPS5BRA1/206876/
Unzip. Only have auto reboot and Re-partition checked as options in Odin.

[FIX] For those who get stuck on sboot.bin.lz4 when try to flash firmware S8 G950F

Hello, many times i was trying to flash stock firmware from my country but i couldnt because i was getting stuck on sboot.bin.lz4 , well if you get stuck there too the solution is to flash the firmware from another version of odin. A little search on google didnt hurt me tho , so just get the version of the link bellow and Voila .. ! if you have any other problem i might can help you, post down your comments
https://download.highonandroid.com/file/Tools/ODIN/Odin3_v3.13.1.zip
Works
Thanks, this solved my issue
My question is that I'm afraid of having trouble updating with odin. I did some time ago an odin update on a 3 note and it failed. A triangle appeared on the screen and had to be brought in for technical assistance. I have all the files downloaded here for the s8, with the latest odin, but I do not know if I upgrade or not, or if I expect the OTA .... On my S8 is with ((XX1CRAP) no problems, but the pack security is February 1. And by Sammobiles 2 new updates have come out.I'm in doubt.

I did the same, but I used the CSC instead of Home_CSC and my device was wiped clean. However, I had backed up my entire device and just did a restore after boot-up. I think the problem is from using incompatible software upgrades from different regions.

When I had this problem, it was with note 3, and I had to take technical assistance to get back to normal, but if I remember correctly I used a rom from another location. So my fear is to make a mistake with my s8, but all I downloaded to upgrade the S8 was from the same location I'm using today.
---------- Post added at 07:37 PM ---------- Previous post was at 07:32 PM ----------
I do not know it's worth upgrading the S8 to the most current software, the safe pack is from February 1, 2018. According to Sammobiles already software of month 5 for my device from my region.
It's because of the compression older version cant handle it..3.13.1 works.

Some more info other than ' it didn't work ' would be helpful in trying to solve your issues.
Failng at sboot.bin can mean a few things.
So info like maybe a screenshot of odin, any other errors in odin, current firmware on phone, firmware trying to flash etc would helpful.
Thanks a lot! This solved my issue! A little, but big, detail lol

You cannot downgrade firmware due to bootloader version numbers hence errors ie: Oreo to nougat

[a3xelte][SM-A310F][A3 2016] - FRP Unlock

A friend of mine gave me 3x 'oldish" SM-A310F that were decomissioned from his workplace. I successfully brought 2 of them to LOS 16 and recently to 17.1 :good:
But I clumsily "bricked" the process for the third one: tired-me forgot to enable "OEM Unlock" before trying to sideload TWRP... nominal unlucky consequence, it rose the FRP flag :crying:
From then, I can't find a working solution. Download mode unwelcomes unofficial packages. Here are my trials to remedy the situation:
Open the webnavigator during initial setup (trick seen on youtube) >> FAIL
"SMS class 0 / HushSMS" trick (tip seen on youtube) >> FAIL
Upgrade the official firmware: the upgrade went fine with ODIN, but FRP lock is stil there >> FAIL
UnlockFRP_v3.0 : the software tells me unlock is a success, but FRP lock is stil there >> FAIL
SPD FRP by 9jaROM 2017 : running it, I'm able to load the ADB sideload recovery function, LOS ROM is transfered via ADB, but verification of the upgrade fails >> FAIL
ADB commands : it returns the error message 'no devices/emulators found' >> FAIL
I've searched a working solution for a *little* while, seems I'm running out of option. Or... guys, do you have a solution/working tutorial to remove an FRP lock?
Guys, any ideas?

Hi,
I have absolutely the same phone and same problem.
The only way I know is to download the stock ROM and flash it. I took one from sammobile with A310FXXU5CSI1 PID.
and flashed it with Odin v3.14.4 and even with patched Odin v3.14.1, found on xda.
In both cases I got following:
Code:
<ID:0/023> File analysis..
<ID:0/023> Total Binary size: 3125 M
<ID:0/023> SetupConnection..
<ID:0/023> Initialzation..
<ID:0/023> Get PIT for mapping..
<ID:0/023> Firmware update start..
<ID:0/023> NAND Write Start!!
<ID:0/023> SingleDownload.
<ID:0/023> sboot.bin
<ID:0/023> cm.bin
<ID:0/023> boot.img
<ID:0/023> recovery.img
<ID:0/023> system.img
<ID:0/023> cache.img
<ID:0/023> hidden.img
<ID:0/023> FAIL!
<ID:0/023>
<ID:0/023> Complete(Write) operation failed.
<OSM> All threads completed. (succeed 0 / failed 1)
Of course, since the FRP lock is on, I can't flash TWRP or a normal ROM. I can't get into recovery mode or even shutdown the phone. I assume, the recovery partition is lost as well.
Do you have any ideas here as well? Could it be possible to flash only the standard recovery?
I myself used "A310FXXU4CRG2". But doing so, flashing stock, unfortunately doesn't reset the FRP lock.
Hi There, here the same problem sm-A310F,2016, android 7 . Until now no succes. Samsung was from a friend, trouble is google account will sign her out on her new phone. She is blind, so I don 't want to take that risk. I made a backup on smart switch before factory reset. The covid-19 virus is still here and its numbers are rising high again. I've heart problem so the virus is a big risk for me, so I'm on my own (except for online help, no visitors, no meetings, and no visit to the store or repairshop). Odin seems to have contact with the device. Hope somebody had a good idea. Greetings Mary
