I've encountered the following problem with my Galaxy Note 4: I just bought it online from a guy who turned out to be a fraud and I was not able to find or contact him again via the internet market place. So that was really stupid of me...and expensive...and I regret it very much and with hind site I should have picked up the signs but...o well you got the picture...I got ripped.
Anyways after careful inspection it turned out to be a real genuine Note 4 N910F with 64 Gb but with a korean or chinese or something recovery mode (I saw it once when I got home), an imei not to be found on any stolen phone list and working correctly with an european rom that includes English and Dutch at that point.
That's when I decided to factory reset it and then I got into trouble again: For some reason it got stuck in a boot loop with just a No Command message. Normally you can reach the recovery mode by pressing Volume Up +Home +Power but now nothing happens. It's not a real brick but with just the No Command message and no access to the recovery mode I don't know how to fix this.
Can anyone help me with a clue on how to get out of a No Command loop without recovery mode? Or how to get into recovery mode if start with Key Up etc does not work? Or any other clue that could help me?
Thanks in advance!
Kind regards,
Rene (aka the guy who got ripped off but hopes to save the phone)
Can you get into download mode?
Thanks dr.mOx for responding!
I tried both volume up+home+power to get into recovery mode and also volume down+home+power to get into download mode but in both cases the device starts and shows me the android robot on it's back with a red warning triangle containing an exclamation mark and below the robot the message "No command." . The screen blinks every two or three seconds. The power button is not shutting the phone down in this state. I have to remove the battery to retry.
Battey out. Then in. Go to download mode. Flash stock rom with odin

Hi Ozzyblack. The thing is that, if I'm correct, when I press volume down+home+power to get into download mode I expect some sort of menu to appear asking to go into download mode or not. Am I correct? I saw same sceendump about that. And now I keep getting the No Command window. Do you think I miss something here? I do press volume down first, then home (keeping volume down pressed), and them the power button (keeping all buttons pressed). After a few seconds the display turns a bit more grey for a sec and then the android robot appears. But no message of sorts about getting into download mode.
Hi reborn67.
**Only if you have a galaxy note 4 N910F model**
If you can get into download mode your safe, and you can reflash an offical ROM, there is no menu system in Download mode so don't worry.
Don't stay in download mode forever or a long time, i.e. power off and wait till you have the ROM and Odin before you go into download mode as it sometimes times out even though it still shows in download mode.
Go to here http://samsung-updates.com/details/37086/Galaxy_Note_4_Snapdragon/SM-N910F/DBT/N910FXXU1ANK4.html download the ROM, and then download Odin here https://mega.co.nz/#!UdRRyCAT!H4FyVxYynNWvXqRNmnpMGQRCP-dG3uykgP2pT4rh8Ek
These are the instructions from sammobile on how to flash ROm with Odin.Instructions
1-Extract (unzip) the firmware file
2-Download Odin v3.09
3-Extract Odin zip-file
4-Open Odin v3.09 (make sure the extracted rom file "N910FXXU1ANK4_N910FOXA1ANK4_N910FXXU1ANK4_HOME.tar.md5" is in the same folder as Odin before opening up Odin.
5-Reboot phone in Download Mode (press and hold Home + Power + Volume Down buttons)
6-Connect phone and wait until you get a blue/orange sign in Odin (above text top left ID:COM)
7-Add the firmware file to AP / PDA
IMPORTANT** Make sure re-partition is NOT ticked
Click the start button, sit back and wait a few minutes
I always do a hard reset after flashing new ROM's (settings, backup and reset, factory data reset)
I have a network locked UK N910F on EE and use this German ROM with no problems, this ROM has little bloatware.
Thanks gadjet. I do have odin and a stock rom ready for use now:
1-I tested odin and the usb port plus driver setup with my 'old' galaxy s4 and within a second the ID:Com in Odin turns blue. So that seems to be working fine.
2-So now I put in the Note 4 battery and connect to usb WITHOUT ANY KEYS PRESSED...just to test! And the usb connection bleeps from windows confirm a device is connected...so far so good.
3-Last and most important step fails: Reboot phone in Download Mode (press and hold Home + Power + Volume Down buttons), the 'no command' robot is still there, and also connect phone and wait until you get a blue/orange sign in Odin (above text top left ID:COM) never happens. And also there are no windows usb connection bleeps so apparently there's a difference when I tried to select download mode.
Please know that I'm really thankful for all the great tips. But I guess I'm still missing something here.
Kind regards,
Rene

Unfortunately Kies 3 (latest update) does not recognize any connected device when I try this. The No command screen is laughing at us again
This is different
Turn your phone off or make sure it’s turned off.
Press and hold the Volume Up, Home and Power buttons simultaneously.
When the phone vibrates, release the Home and Power buttons, but keep pressing Volume Up button.

There's no vibration...just the No command window.
OK, corrupt boat-loader Samsung service centre repair job, or local phone repair job.
Requires boot chip to be reflashed at board level.
Sorry we couldn't get you going bud..:crying:
Thanks for trying guys!
I'll see if I can find a local phone repair store.
I used to have the same problem with my SM-P605 when I flashed some ROM in the summer, the only special thing I did was not giving up and after all I got to the Download mode. Hope it'll work for you without Service.
Good Luck
Today I went to visit an official Samsung store. They told me I bought a very good but fake Note 4 and it is not likely it can be recovered. The weight is incorrect...a bit to heavy. Also the serial numbers are unknown in the samsung database and some other details were not correct. Thanks again for trying to help me! I now officially have a really expensive brick that looks like a note 4.:crying:
same issue i am facing..i tried all..but it shows no command error and no menu shows up
ill be going to get my phone checked today..if i get any way out ill let u know
What you did later to recover ? I'm facing the same problem I've visited samsung service centre but they are unable to solve it.
Can you guys help me for my phone Samsung note 4 because its just keep repeating in a logo SAMSUNG...
I tried pressing volume down+home button+power then got "WARNING CUSTOM OS... and stuff and then I press volume high+home button+power then I got the logo SAMSUNG that keeps on repeating. Please help me what to do
Hello guys.
So I just flashed the russian Lollipop firmware that came out for the N900 into my device. I followed all the procedure to the letter (I am really cautious and it's not the first time I've flashed stuff); went to download mode, connected my Note to the cable, added the MD5 to Odin and started flashing. The procedure finished and the phone restarted, but I got a black screen after the "Samsung Galaxy Note 3" screen you get when you start the phone, but that wasn't really the problem since I read that a lot of people got that black screen and solved it by flashing the firmware again. My problem is when I go to download mode (power off the phone then volume down + power + home) I get the "Warning!!" confirmation screen, and then I press Volume up to continue, nothing happens!! Even when I press Volume down (which should get out of download mode and restart the device) nothing happens!
In case you're wondering, I can get with no problem into recovery mode.
Is there a way I can fix this and get into download mode? Maybe a way to get directly into download mode without the confirmation screen (I did read somewhere that holding volume up + volume down while turned off and then connecting the cable to the phone should get it directly into download mode, but that apparently doesn't work for me)
Help would be much appreciated, and sorry for the bad english.
I have a Samsung galaxy note 4 with stock android. My phone shut itself off while I was listening to pandora, and when I tried to turn it back on, it got stuck rebooting.
It gets to the Samsung splash screen, and no further. Even when I try to enter recovery mode using volume up + power + home, the splash screen appears with 'RECOVERY BOOTING..." in the corner, but it just reboots again.
I have tried turning the phone off completely using the power button, then turning it on again. I have tried removing the battery, letting it sit, and trying to restart again. I have tried charging it to see if that was the problem, but it's not. If I use volume down + power + home, I can get to the custom OS options, but I have not rooted my phone, so I don't know what the 'continue' options does.
How can I get my phone working again?
Turn off the phone. Enter download mode instead of recovery (volume down + home button + power) and open Odin on your PC and under AP add your .tar file (via Sammobile) and hit OK in order to get stock Touchwiz on your Note 4 again.

hi
firstly ,
If you cannot "factory reset " in recovery ....then and if nothing else works ? and you don't want to take phone to service provider /Samsung service centre .............
last resort is to( but you have to know what you doing !!!!)
is to reflash your device /phone current stock ROM,(that you were on),with Odin /pc..laptop
If you are unsure "how to flash ?" i suggest to Google /search for an straight forward video ,on web /Youtube ?
if so and you can get into download mode ( phone off ,pull battery..... insert battery , volume down + power + home button ) When in download mode ,volume up again and follow normal procedure to flash your stock ROM with Odin
Remember ..that above to flash stock Rom with Odin ,you don't need root.
Also ,in your post above you refer i quote......
"I can get to the custom OS options, but I have not rooted my phone, so I don't know what the 'continue' options does"
i think what you actually mean that you can get into download mode ,???...................
and the volume up is when you" ready " to flash your device and connected to pc/laptop with Odin ...
Also make sure if you know how to reflash ..... that before reflashing with Odin ,you have ticked correct boxes in Odin( .....and how Odin works )
Bottom line ...if nothing else works ,
a reflash of your correct phone ( current stock ) Rom you were on ,should fix it .
good luck
Maybe any1 got any Idea?

Hey guys, yesterday I tried to reset my phone and lock the boot loader because I was going to sell my phone but I got stuck on (ODIN MODE : AVB Fail ) screen. and no matter what key combinations I use the phone goes back to the same screen and wouldn't let me go into recovery or so.
I saw online that some said to flash the official ROM in ODIN and it will get back to working again but my laptop doesn't recognise my phone when I plug it in
Please help me if someone knows a fix for this.
I use a MacBook Pro M1 if anyone is wondering
I have S10 stuck at Download mode as well (though of a different reason).
For me at least putting into recovery mode works like this:
turn off the phone
(it automatically goes to download mode)
plugin the phone to the PC (this step might even be optional; but is required for me for some reason)
cancel Download Mode with keys as instructed on the screen:
Volume Down + Power (more than 7 secs)
IMMEDIATELY after try to put the phone into recovery mode:
hold Volume Up + Bixby + Power
Then from recovery you might be able to do smth
