910T - Wifi will not turn on. EPJ2 5.1.1 - Galaxy Note 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Ok, so I got a wild hair and decided I wanted to try lollipop. So I updated my bootloader and modem to EPJ2 and everything was good. This was on my 5.1.1 ROM. Once I made sure everything was fine, I created a backup in TWRP and selected all partitions, everything it would let me choose for the backup.
Then I used ODIN to go to stock 6.0.
Played with it for a bit a decided I wanted to go back.
Rebooted into TWRP and wiped everything, factory reset, typed yes, etc. Did this 2x.
Then I loaded my backup.
Almost everything is fine. 4G LTE works, I can make calls, send texts, etc. But my WIFI refuses to turn on. In the settings -> Wifi it does show the MAC address so I'm pretty sure I didn't fry my wifi chip or anything like that (I hope).
So what do I need to do to get my wifi working? I've backed up everything to my SD card in case I need to downgrade to the modem/bootloader and go back to a 5.1.1 stock.
Any help would be appreciated. I've googled and searched and tried a stock DOK2 ROM from Sammobile, got (pit file not found) about **** myself and pulled battery. Rebooted, phone still works. Went in to TWRP did the erase, restore backup dance again, still no wifi. At this point I'm very tired (stayed up all night trying to fix this) and could really use some help.
Thanks in advance, hope everyone is doing ok.

EPJ2 is 6.0.1 MM. A lollipop rom won't run on marshmallow BL and modem. Either flash this DOK2 BL and Modem https://www.androidfilehost.com/?w=files&flid=37084 or your gonna need to install a MM rom. But if you choose to install the MM rom your gonna need to flash the whole firmware first because I think your storage needs to be formatted for MM. Anytime jumping from a OS build....(KK,LP,MM).....it's best to always flash full firmware because ART is different. That might also be your pit file issue if you are coming from KK and didnt flash the entire LP firmware first. And I recommend EPE3 or EPG2 because most MM rom are built on one those two firmware....
EPE3
https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=24651430732235456
EPG2
https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=24651442761499080
And here is the link to the MM rom thread where you can find everything
http://forum.xda-developers.com/not...-maximum-ovrdrive-6-0-1-mm-beta-4-13-t3358326

So this is what I get when attempting to flash the COG2 you linked me to.
Pulled battery and rebooted into my mostly working setup.

Also one more very important thing. Do all the research you can on any firmware build you ever flash. Sometimes you can't go back to a previous build. DOK2 is locked and some say EPJ2 is locked. But since you never flashed the whole EPJ2 firmware you might want to try flashing whatever you were on before and start over.....but I think now you might only be able to flash EPJ2 or if you are lucky DOK2. If you are need advice or help let me know before you flash anything. You can PM me If you need help quick..

Try renaming the tar.md5 to .tar only from Coj2 file before you try to flash dok2. Coj2 isn't locked

Don't mess w/ROM's when tired.
So I totally forgot to install the Samsung USB Drivers, so ODIN wasn't working right. I'm flashing stock 6.01 now.
Can anyone recommend a good ROM for me? I like TouchWiz and all I really want is a 5x6 launcher. Anything extra is cake.
EDIT: Just thought I'd update this. I have stock 6.01 installed and everything works. I also have TWRP and root as well. So this is solved.

[Q] [RESOLVED] HELP!!! Need Stock NG2 ODIN Flashable Rom (md5 file)

I managed to somehow break my phone's wifi. My Phone (Phone A) is the Galaxy S4 SPH-L720 (The original - not the triband one) I had the NAE stock rom (rooted), and I have a 2nd line with the exact same phone - which has NG2 (referring to as Phone B now).
I tried to get the native tether to work on Phone B with the NG2 rom using @idone's Galaxy Tools apk. it worked.
So I decided to try it on Phone A running NAE. I wiped /system and /data and completely cleaned Phone Ausing philz touch recovery. I then booted into download mode and used ODIN to flash the md5 containing the NAE rom. It flashed just fine - Phone A was now stock, unrooted with NAE.
Then I did the OTA update for NG2. Now Phone A is NG2. BUT there are a few problems now....
1. The Build number now says NG2 BUT the baseband is still NAE.
2. Once I rooted Phone A *AFTER* the NG2 update, I noticed Wifi broke. I don't know if rooting it broke it or if it was before. But obviously something went wrong if the baseband is still showing NAE right?
So currently I am suffering a custom ROM until someone (or sammobile) has an ODIN flashable NG2 file.
Is there any other way to fix this? or did I just screw my phone?
Does anyone have an MD5 file for the stock NG2 software?
I would try flashing the NAE software but that will obviously brick my phone thanks to KNOX
There is a NG2 stock rooted rom in one of the threads. I cannot remember which one. I do not think it is md5 but it is flashable from recovery. Can you not use that? I have also seen several fixes for the wifi issue but I do not remember what the fix was or which thread it was in since I have not had a problem with that issue. Look around a little. It could only be in one of three forums and I am sure it will be on the first page.

Bricked - possible misuse of Flashfire

Using Flashfire, I installed the zipped file UPDATE-SuperSU-v1.99r4.zip on my Verizon G900V, which is a towelroot rooted Lollipop. My phone ultimately rebooted, but goes no further than the initial screen. It will not fully reboot, it is not recognized via USB by my PC, it cannot be turned off except by removing the battery, and seems totally bricked. I obviously can’t even odin. I have no other data, such as build, etc., about it since it is no longer accessible. What can I do now? Any help will be most appreciated!

That is not totally bricked :victory:
You are just softbricked. First, did you have safestrap installed?
If you don't care about any of the internal data and just want the OS fixed, just put it in download mode (Power+Home+VolDown) then Vol Up to confirm, and get the .tar of the stock image. Flash it with Odin- bam done.
Be warned, because you were towelrooted this would ultimately flash the latest LOCKED bootloader- so to stay on your UNLOCKED bootloader you need to find a tar with NO bootloader (there is a PB1 no bootloader stock tar)
If you had safestrap- all you have to do is flash the NK2 kernel and it will boot into safestrap- allowing for recovery of internal data and flashing of a new ROM.
If he's on any of the Firmwares below OD5, he can safely Odin back to NCG and start from scratch using Towelroot. All of our bootloaders are locked no matter which firmware version you're on. It's the versions OE1 and up that are more locked down from rooting

Many thanks, Smokerbond. I do wish I had waited for your reply, but, as usual, I was impatient (and somewhat concerned). I found part of what you knew elsewhere, downloaded from Sammobile, and flashed. Unfortunately, as you noted, that didn’t keep root. My question now is, can I start over? I flashed G900VVRU1BOA8-G900VVZW1BOA8 which, of course, is filled with bloatware. I have all my files I used originally, but no instructions and, as we say at my age, (77), I have slept since then.
You can Odin flash the PB1.tar with no bootloader, then use @jrkruse root method. That is the simplest way. You can also Odin back to NCG and use Towelroot, but it makes it a PITA with enabling advanced calling.
---------- Post added at 01:14 PM ---------- Previous post was at 01:13 PM ----------
Also, I'm not familiar with that SuperSU version. That is probably what caused the bootloop. I'm currently running SuperSU 2.71 on my S5 and it works great, but you can go with the latest stable version if you prefer.
Shouldn't be trying to flash SuperSU from 2014. Here's the latest version once you get everything up and running again.
Thanks for all the suggestions. I am now up and running, using Chainfire's SU 2.65. Since I was familiar with the path, I did go back to NCG and use towelroot, but since I have no need for the advanced calling (with which I was not familiar), I am happy with my setup.

Stock Marshmellow ROM for Samsung Galaxy S5 G900V

Hello all. I have been at this for a few weeks trying to get it figured out on my own before I posted here, but I am a little lost now. I've been following guides by Chainfire & jrkruse and I (after many attempts and researching threads on here) successfully rooted & unlocked my bootloader (thanks goes out to them, as well as phhussen and everyone else on this forum who has posted results on getting this type of stuff done, I could not have done it without you). Now I'm trying to get safteynet to pass (so I can play pokemon go with root) - this is where I am getting stuck.
I'm trying to use a suhide solution, but I could never get the phone to pass safetynet after I unrooted (so naturally, suhide isn't going to do me much good based off of the instructions, I was just trying it as a last resort to see if I could get it to work anyway with it installed). I think I need a stock rom, but I want to keep my recovery (so that way I can easily flash a rooted rom of MM or any other changes like suhide in there). Is there a way to do this? I can't seem to find any solution other than reformatting the device and flashing a stock image posted by jrkruse of lollipop (then upgrade to marshmellow via Verizon Desktop Agent). Is there no way to just flash a stock version of the OS, but keep the recovery / bootloader unlocked?
TL;DR: I am trying to get a close to stock OS installed (without root) and get safetynet passing. Then I will attempt to follow the suhide tutorial. I want to keep my bootloader unlocked and to keep my recovery. Is this possible to do? I have TWRP (latest version) installed on my Samsung Galaxy S5 G900V.
Yeah just flash in odin all partitions except recovery and sbl aboot and rpm download the firmware you want to be on then use 7 zip file manager and extract tar file and add to and choose all other partitions and make it a tar file and Flash it in Odin
Sent from my SM-G900F using Tapatalk
So I understand what odin is and extracting selective files by using 7zip, but I'm still not quite sure where I would get the stock image of everything. I can't seem to find an unmodified version of the entire MM image. I can only find the lollipop one from jrkruse.
EDIT: If it helps any, I am already on a version of MM with MM firmware.

Does it matter that I am PBF4? I'm assuming PD1 is lollipop firmware? I'm looking for Marshmellow. I could flash in Odin the lollipop stock everything right now. But then since I couldn't find a stock marshmellow image (at the moment), I would be stuck on lollipop.
Pd1 is marshmallow firmware

I downloaded the PF4 version from sammobile.com (that is the current version I have on my phone now). Thanks for the link for that site. The way I am understanding you is just to take that compressed file, extract all but aboot.mbn, rpm.mbn, and sbl1.mbn, and then take those extracted files and create a .tar file; then flash with Odin - is this correct?
Yes that is true
Sent from my SM-G900F using Tapatalk
When I did that nothing changed (although odin said it flashed everything successfully in the logs, but all my apps and SuperSU remained). I wiped my system next time and flashed everything and this time TWRP came up and said that it could not stop the stock ROM from deleting TWRP. I thought I was in the clear, but so far the first attempt has left the phone on the Verizon checkmark screen. I restored my old image and am trying one more time. I'm not sure if it is supposed to take long? I flashed a .tar with the following in it:
- boot.img
- cache.img.ext4
- modem.bin
- NON-HLOS.bin
- sdi.mbn
- system.img.ext4
- tz.mbn
Before I flashed this .tar, I wiped the System, ARK=dalvik/cache, internal storage, and cache if that helps any.
You have to do a wipe after flash

I downloaded 2 different firmware from z3x box(shell) and if keep failing when using odin (latest) and also getting error when using Samsung tool. Also I can't get in the phone menu to check the baseband..can only get model from download model.any advice to this?
Same issue as well on my sm-g985v Verizon variant
Flashed an update to work out minor lagging bugs and soft bricked my S7. Can access bootloader and recovery. Beyond that, the phone gets there but with black screen and it is sputtering off and on. Tried reflashing stock firmware with odin, and its not taking. Running into a permission error while trying to write the image. Anyone here have any ideas?

Download orginal firmware fro sammobile, unpack and flash with Odin 3.12.3.
Download the firmware from your area, the one that comes with your phone.
Use the right regional code and everything when you download firmware.
Also, have you guys flashed the right bootloader and modem beforehand?

When downloading original firmware there should be 4 files when unzip.
1 for each of the options in Odin, without the last one named home.
Some of the custom roms comes with bootloader and modem, but NOT ALL.
Most times you have to flash the right bootloader and modem in Odin beforehand to get the phone to boot.
Im unsure of what has happened because I have never run into issues myself.
If you can not get the phone to boot with firmware from Sammobile and Odin flash I am out of options.
If I do experience a problem like this I would:
-install bootloader and modem according to the custom rom used. Try and flash these with odin more than ones, if not working.
-if no recovery, try flash recovery again
-try flash another custom rom then another custom rom
-return to stock firmware downloaded trough Sammobile
If none of these options work im out of things to do, sorry
The times I have experienced phone stuck on Samsung logo, it has been because of bootloader and/or modem.
Flashing the right ones have always fixed the problem.
That said, I have never experienced problems with returning to stock firmware trough Odin, maybe one time.
And this time my firmware download was corrupted.

This is wrong, you should use the file named only CSC.
Home_CSC, is to keep your setup on phone as is.
I also remember that you have to remove the meta data directory, and then repack firmware or the install will stop.
And this is also NOT a good option if you use another firmware than the original on phone.
Installing firmware with Odin, always use BL, AP, CP and CSC.
Try this and forget about the Home_CSC.
I don't have anymore info, sorry
Thank you very much. I will try it. I will let you know.

Perhaps. I followed the tutorial which works if you are already on the modem you want to backup. I will upload later but if you already are on PL1 modem then follow instructions I found (no warranties, all risks of damage etc)
Run in TWRP's terminal or ADB while in TWRP or Terminal command in Android with USB debugging on (root required and terminal app)
ls -al /dev/block/bootdevice/by-name
Look for modem or mdm. Once you find it, make note of the block.
To back them up in Terminal modem: dd if=/dev/block/mmcblk0pXX of=/sdcard/modem.bin
where XX means proper block partition.
you can also backup APN-HLOS, fsg, modemst1, and modemst2 providing other names instead of modem.bin
Got information from here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=64169401&postcount=3
For creating tar file use TAR_MD5_PACKAGER

Unfortunately Im not on PL1, I'm on OK2. I'm having Bluetooth and Wifi disconnections/failures. Sometimes after a while they will completely die out and refuse to turn back on or allow connections, requiring a reboot where they will work again for a while. I'm hoping that an update to the baseband will either subdue or fix these issues. I've tried multiple roms and tried reverting to older basebands (which killed BT/Wifi all together). Stock works ok, but since the device is no longer in service I'm unable to tether my wifi/Bluetooth without root. If I'm rooting anyway, I might as well be running a custom ROM.
It's a longshot, but if it COULD help I'd like to update anyway

Stock works ok, but since the device is no longer in service I'm unable to tether my wifi/Bluetooth without root. If I'm rooting anyway, I might as well be running a custom ROM.
It's a longshot, but if it COULD help I'd like to update anyway

OK, I just downloaded full official PL1 stock, these were right in the tar file as my backups contain slightly more info. It is getting uploaded right now.

NON-HLOS should have more chances to help as modem is for GSM although it might end up with same incompatibility with ROM (turned off Wi-Fi). As for your problem, maybe another Kernel would work better.
How to install: you can try Heimdall or Odin. This topic provides enough info about how to do this: https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s4/general/ref-galaxy-s4-i9505-modems-bootloaders-t3315987

Awesome! Thanks alot. Hopefully the wifi won't go out. That would certainly be the opposite of what I'm trying to achieve as the S4 on Wifi is primarily my tether device for my PC. If the case is that it'll kill my Wifi, I am more than familiar with using Odin to flash back to OK2 (this is not my first rodeo with Samsung devices).
Thank you very much mate

Please, tell me how it worked out.
Fail
Both Failed in Odin for me. It seems the only option is to reflash the whole stock image and reinstall the custom recovery
Now , all we need is someone to upload the whole PL1 stock rom to androidfilehost or mega so that we wouldnt have to wait 6 hours on a throttled download from these greedy Samsung Firmware losers.....
Ill post a link to the stock PL1 rom as soon as it finishes......
Reinstall of custom recovery shouldn't be of any problem as you already flash firmware in Odin so just extra reboot to DM and quick flash. Just uncheck Reboot, then when finished press power button and remove battery (for modem to get switched) and then boot in D mode.

Also, are you on L720 or L720T? Had to ask earlier, I assumed you are on L720.

L720T. I've had the phone up and running for a while now on Oreo. It's been better, but my Wifi speeds have cut down from 25Mbs to like 10 even right next to my router with every other device disconnected. BT still cuts out often. I like how much cleaner Stock runs so I've been waiting for the post above to link PL1.
Tried to install the PL1 Modem from this thread, but Odin displays 'Fail' message. Receive response from BootLoader.
My bootloader is a PL1 (5.0.1). I went from PL1 (Stock, Unrooted, SIM locked) to NG5 (Rooted, SIM Unlocked) and now on 6.0.1 JDCTeam's ROM. https://forum.xda-developers.com/ga...dcteam-android-source-project-mra58v-t3251663
As per 6.0.1 Rom's requirement, both Bootloader and Baseband have to be above 5.0. My baseband is still stuck at NG5.
I have the Sprint L720, has anyone posted the full PL1 rom? I bought it used and it was already on PL1. Tried flashing back to NG2, but kept getting the no seandroid error. Used a pit file that was listed on XDA and now it flashed, but it'll get stuck at the Sprint screen. Need some assistance on getting it to at least boot. Thanks much.
