Kernel HELP !!! - Galaxy Note 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I am running a NOTE7 based Rom Aurora .. my battery was dying as it would charge .. the only way to get it to charge was shut it down. I am currently on another Note7 based ROM Note4Grace ... I have searched high and low for a really good battery friendly kernel. Performance is some what important but not 100% I need this battery to not die as much. So what I am asking does ANYONE in the XDA community prefer a kernel for battery performance or something that can help. I have tried RAM kernel, I recently tried using Exceed and its not for my N910V, tried AEF kernel ( if spelt right ) along with a few Beastmode kernels. Please if anyone has some advice WITH links .....

[Q] Extended battery on NAND flashed android support

I have searched this forum as best i could to find some rom that works and supports extended battery fully....meaning it charges normally and works A-okay. This thread is meant to direct some effort towards building something for us idiots who went and bought this.....probably useless item from ebay.
Any help would be much appreciated.

most builds will support extended battery if you change the kernel using tytung's eb kernel.
Thank you for your fast reply jose makalolot i really appreciate it. But what i was looking for was a standalone rom which supports extended battery.
Thanks again will give this a try
Ok still i'm having trouble finding an installation guide for this so i'm still lost.
No 'standalone' rom comes with extended battery support, it's all down to the attatched kernel. There's a difference.
If you have an official htc extended battery, get the above tytung_r2_eb_signed kernel, if not other kernels are supposed to have support for NON OFFICIAL extended batteries, so just try boot up any rom you choose if you have one of these

Try the mentioned tytung one above, its based of hastarins eb kernel but modified for nand builds, I haven't got round to testing it yet so you can let me know how you get on!
Hey,
I am using MDJs CM7 2.6 Kernal:MDJ 10.4 OC with a non-HTC extended battery.
What happens to me is the battery meter shows degression like a usual battery, but at 15% (and according to the forums some people it is at 11% - but basically around then) the batter meter stops moving for hours!
And if you want to know about how much you have left take out the battery, put it in, and restart, and it will show you (I say about because it will get stuck again at 15% but for much less time).
I found a solution to this problem...well the battery works even though this build is buggy as hell but at least the phone wont restart compulsively. If you flash this rom you're phone will work with the extended battery.

Still not the best solution please leave this post open so that if somebody finds something better he can post it here.

[Q] Which ROM should I use?

Hello everyone, I'm new in here and I'm using Nexus 4..
I really want to flash custom ROM, i need better performance and battery life..
I don't care about features or costumize anything except performance..
So what ROM should I use? And I'm planning to flash custom kernel too. I heared Franco kernel is great..
But besides that, I'm totally noob with root and flashing rom..
Thanks before. Your suggestions really appreciated .
Stock. Simple and no need to flash it over and over again with pretty useless nightlies.

If you want a few basic custom options such as configurable tiles, battery percentage, torch, and a screen-off button to save your physical power button, I would go with Cataclysm ROM. This is stock with those few options added. I feel it's like what Peter Alfonso used to do with Bugless Beast in the past.
I'm waiting for Cataclysm 4.4 which will be out soon now the factory images are released...
Thank you!
But it not satisfied with my battery life. I want to flash custom ROM and kernel because i want to improve my battery life and performance also..
So what should I do?
I heared there's a mod to raise battery life and performance..

Really; try Cataclysm ROM. It has battery saving features such as smart 3G, do a search and read about it in the Forums.
Install stock kitkat 4.4 and enable art
I usually use Primal. But so far Stock 4.4 is as fast maybe even faster. Haven't really got a good battery read on KitKat yet. I would get 5hrs screen time out of Primal. With calls, surfing, txt and camera.
IMO Carbon based ROMS seem to be the best.
@r3act: Thanks! I'll give it a try..
@Goku: I'm sorry, i appreciate your answer, and i don't know about deleted ppost. My bad..
if you're new to the whole flashing thing dont start.... once you start it aint gonna end. i started with my N7 and have flashed waayyyyy too much roms to end up right back at stock 4.4. on my nexus 4 i have not yet flashed any custom roms cause i found that stock rooted roms have the most reliability, stability, better battery life, and most usability from all others.so far with my 4.4 stock i have 12h39min. and 19% left. thats through talking, surfing the web downloading, and playing games. slightly heavy usage today. i think 12 hours is good enough for me. my advice flash 4.4 stock, root it and dont flash custom roms. its fun with all the features but stock is always better. my opinion.
Thanks everyone! I'll consider it..
@podagee: i thought that custom ROM can improve batterylife..
After reading your reply, is root improving battery life? And which root app that you installed?
I think this is what you want: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=47439423&highlight=battery#post47439423
Best battery might be Semaphore kernel + Purity ROM 4.3
Good luck!
root doesnt improve battery life it gives you privileges to all areas of your device. i use mine for removing apps that are built-in the rom, bloatware. the ones you couldnt remove now can be removed when rooted.i usually keep my device simple by removing playbooks, magazines, youtube(replace with ogyoutube) google currents...etc.... anything i dont use. i install cleanmaster,to clean up leftover cache and to free up occasional ram space.
as for rooting the 4.4. follow the guides they have in the Q&A section if you use adb&fastboot.unlock your phone. install your 4.4 stock.flash a custom recovery,i like twrp. then flash superuserv1.65 in custom recovery and your good to go.
There is no certain ROM/Kernel you "should use", your use may vary to someone else or vice-versa so battery life may not be as good for you as it is for someone else. There is no best, head over to the development section and see which best suits your needs.

CM12.1 V18.2 temasek - HELP: Battery Drain issue

Hi guys , i've just flashed my samsung note 3 to CM12.1 and i am experiencing huge battery drain issue.
Any kind souls over here to assist a newbie ?
So sorry to trouble.
Those AOSP ROMs will never give you as pleasing battery backup as TouchWiz based ROMs, but still first thing is, you need to mention what processes are sucking the battery life. Install BBS and mention here.

Use any TouchWiz stock ROM, or at least stock based ROM custom ROM. If you want a full featured ROM go for Arya, if you want a ROM as close to stock as possible then go with Alexender's stock ROM.
In any case, you do need to monitor what app/ processes are creating wakelock via Better Battery Stats.

Which is the best ROM? (Battery live and stability)

Hi guys. I'm using Liquid Remix 9.0. (latest version, projectk r23 kernel and nova launcher)
Can you tell me about the ROM and kernel that is very stable and the battery is very good? Or should I go on?
thank you to everyone who answered my question
U may disagree with me, but honestly, stock rom is one of the best ones i've used, in terms of stability and battery. Not many other custom os managed to achieve similar battery life as stock. Hope this helps!

I agree and im still using stock since i bought my phone
The less customisation you have the less bug you have.
Stock is the most stable, battery friendly without tweak
You can still put magisk / xposed and a custom kernel to win some battery % if you know what to do
I agree with them, after installing most custom roms out there i always came back to stock. Maybe pie could have a better battery usage, but i experienced lots of bugs even in so called 'stable' firmwares.
What kernel is the best with stock rom?
