After installing twrp using the one click root method, it restarted my V20 and I ended up in recovery mode (TWRP) and unable to boot into the OS. It seems I only have access to fastboot, download mode, and TWRP at this moment. I tried flashing the partitions with twrp, but twrp isn't realing my SD card for some odd reason, and I don't believe theres another way to move the file directly to the phone. I've been trying to work with "LG FlashTool" for hours, and keep getting the same error. Is there a reliable way to flash the OS through download mode? Thanks!
There is currently no way to flash those .tot images. What happens when you try to boot, where does it get stuck?
In TWRP you can connect to a PC and access the storage. Did you try moving the files that way?

I apologize for not checking my XDA notifications frequently enough.
I was able to copy over the .img system, boot, and recovery files to my internal storage when I was booted into TWRP then flashed them in TWRP.
Thanks for the help!

I tried doing this and my system rebooted back into TWRP. Where did you get the files? Also did you ever get the encryption unsuccessful error? Whenever I install a system image or nandroid backup my phone reboots into TWRP.

The encryption unsuccessful error was mentioned in the original TWRP form, you're just supposed to tap cancel and ignore it. It seems to happen every time you boot into TWRP. As for the .IMG files, I forgot where I got these but as soon as I find the post I'll be sure to give the creator credit. These worked perfectly for my H918.
Link to .zip file with the .img file-
https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B53iMlcsyyiKenAtT2k5STl0Umc/view?usp=drivesdk
(On mobile app or else I would've embedded it)
Boot into TWRP and push them through ADB into your device, then flash with TWRP. Make sure to flash system and recovery together, THEN REBOOT. If you flash system or recovery apart then reboot it might not work. I pushed them to /data/ and it worked for me. system.img is about 4GB if I remember correctly, so that one took a long time to push through ADB, about an hour and a half, just be prepared to wait a bit. Good luck!

Thanks I appreciate the response, I was able to get my phone up and running by flashing a deodexed rom.
What are the commands to flash the stock system, boot image and recovery through fastboot? Is that what you used?

So I downloaded this file you have in the reply... How can I flash the files in the zip through Fastboot? This currently is the only thing I can boot into to modify the system. The phone boots fine, but I cannot use ADB because it won't authorize the device. I have repeatedly tried killing the ADB server and restarting it, changed the USB ports to no avail... At this point, I cannot boot into TWRP even though it should be operational still.

Which TWRP version do you have? Is it RC8 or above? If its not then you are stuck until the TOT files can be used in LG UP or if we get a KDZ (Havent checked recently if a KDZ is available).
If you do there is a fail safe in TWRP (RC8 and above) that you boot to the LG factory reset and go through with it, TWRP does not execute the command and just boots to TWRP.

ONLY USE THIS METHOD IF YOU HAVE TWRP RC8 OR ABOVE INSTALLED!!!!! OTHERWISE YOU WILL ACTUALLY FACTORY RESET YOUR DEVICE!!!!!
While the device is powered off, press and hold Vol - and Power button. When you see the LG logo quickly release only the power button and re-press and hold the power button (Never let go of the Vol - button) This will boot you into the LG Factory reset screen. ONLY USE THIS METHOD IF YOU HAVE TWRP RC8 OR ABOVE INSTALLED!!!!! OTHERWISE YOU WILL ACTUALLY FACTORY RESET YOUR DEVICE!!!!! Choose yes to both options and you will be rebooted into TWRP. TWRP intercepts this command and ignores the factory reset part.
Will definitely give a shot. Thanks. I'll report back when I get to do it...
what are commands to flash the sys files

This is the whole situation:
I have Pure Nexus installed on my 6P, running great for months. Suddenly yesterday it rebooted while I was using it and sticking in a bootloop. "No problem", I thought, and wanted to reboot into recovery - but nope, can't access it anymore. So I tried to reflash the recovery when I got home, but I only get errorors
When using the command adb devices the line just stays blank. The same with fastboot commands, besides "Fastboot devices"
After messing around a couple hours with the drivers and so on, I managed to somehow get the fastboot command working again. But no sign for the ADB commands, probably because I didn't turn on USB-debugging.
I am now at the point, where I have reflashed Stock Android with the Nexus Root Toolkit and managed to get back into stock android recovery, but still can't get TWRP to boot. I didn't want to delete my personal data, but I saw no other way and formatted /data in stock recovery. But the problem with the bootloop is still there.
It's not the classic bootloop, it boots as far as the Google Logo, then shuts itself down and begins again. I have now reached the point where I have to say, that the hardware might be damaged too. I'd love to somehow get access to the internal storage at least, but I can't without a working ADB.
Reinstalled TWRP with every available version, none of them worked. I am able to access stock Android recovery, but adb commands aren't working from here anyway.
Is there an option to fix the recovery mode? If I could get this working, the rest would be easy for me.
Edit: The reboot looks like in this Link. Only difference is, my device doesn't even the reach the dots.

If you can get fastboot commands to work, just flash the factory image per Heisenberg's guide. Toolkits are more trouble than help. Return it to fresh stock with a full wipe and start fresh.

That vid you linked is an N5 with a stuck power button. It'll do the same thing and reboot recovery as well. It could be your issue but if it is it'll be the first stuck power button I've heard of on a 6P.
When you access fastboot does it stay on in fastboot or does it reboot from it?

You contradict yourself a bit so it is difficult to help you. You got to stock recovery but you can't boot into TWRP? If you have stock recovery, of course you can't boot into TWRP. You have wiped your data but you still want to preserve your data ... Huh?
Your phone isn't working so just nuke and pave with the command line and avoid toolkits. They are sometimes part of the problem.

When stock recovery is installed, I am from time to time able to access it (most of the times it just ends in a bootloop)
If I flash TWRP I can't access it, no matter how often I try
I have factory reset my phone, the stuff on the internal is still there and I want to reach this, as I have my chats, SMS, university stuff and so on backed up on the internal storage
I am trying everything - all the regular adb methods, toolkits, every driver, nothing is working
Sorry if you don't understand my situation, but I am in a pinch right now
You said you have fastboot working?
Download the factory image zip file. Extract it. Extract the zip file from inside that as well. Move the img files to your platform-tools folder.
Reboot your phone to the bootloader. Hold volume down+power from a powered off state.
Plug into PC, open command line from your platform-tools folder.
Type, fastboot devices
Does it show your serial number? If so, start flashing the following images;
Bootloader-angler-angler-xx.xx.img, radio-angler-angler-xx.xx.img, vendor.img, system.img, boot.img, recovery.img
Flash with fastboot.
Code:
fastboot flash bootloader bootloader-angler-angler-xx.xx.img
Code:
fastboot flash radio radio-angler-angler-xx.xx.img
(Substitute "xx.xx" for the version number shown in the img files you unpacked)
Reboot bootloader
Code:
fastboot flash vendor vendor.img
Code:
fastboot flash system system.img
Code:
fastboot flash boot boot.img
Code:
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
Once you do that, boot to stock recovery and cache wipe. Reboot and you're stock. If you're still not able to boot after that post back.
Edit: You said you wanted to avoid flashing factory images to keep internal storage in tact. Do it this way and you can have your cake and eat it too.
Edit2: wrong, see my latest reply

I did this already exactly like you wrote, did it again now, and I am still stuck in the reboot loop (boots up to Google Logo, then shuts itself down; repeat)

If you flashed the factory images and still boot looping you may need to RMA.
Did you restore a TWRP backup?
Edit: Sorry, it's late and I have no sleep. I was wrong. I was thinking TWRP. Factory Reset from TWRP before my steps will keep internal storage I'm tact. Factory Reset from stock recovery will wipe internal storage. Everything. You mentioned you did that already from stock recovery before i made my reply. Your data is already gone as soon as you did that. If not, your emmc is likely corrupted and you need to RMA.

Try flashing TWRP 3.0.2-3 or boot into twrp through fastboot. Using
fastboot boot recovery <twrp filename>.img
I think booting to twrp using this command will work.
And here's the link to Twrp 3.0.2-3 , as its not available on Official Twrp page.

I had the same problem with my 5X, nothing worked I tried every possible solution described above and more. Nothing. I figured out that there was nothing to loose and followed directions from YouTube videos (links below) and it worked. Used heat gun at max temp for about 2 mins from each side. It's been about 12 hours since then, phone works flawlessly. Here are the links:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SD25mdrgAys
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cqh2x-TGnCY
Be careful handling the motherboard after you heat the first side, let it cool first before you start working on the second side. The same with the second side do not pick it up until it's cool.
5X, Pure Nexus Rom 7.1.2 June 5th security update, Elemental X Kernel,
has anyone found solution to this?????
Rooted LG V20 owner here, but still running stock rom. Nowadays, my most important apps won't run because my phone is rooted. The apps check for that, and complain that my phone is rooted and won't let me use them. I've tried using apps like "Hide my root" so I can keep my phone rooted, but those apps just give me errors about being unable to find the su binary and what not. And I can't seem to fix them, or rather, don't even want to try. I'm just so tired of constantly having to deal with technical issues like this... So I decided today I would bend over and accept the latest OTA update, which would most likely make me lose root and also permanently make me unable to root my phone again.
Only problem is, now my phone is stuck in a boot loop, where it always boots into TWRP. I can't decrypt the data partition, which is the first thing TWRP asks me to do. Entering the long numeric PIN I used to encrypt it (using the stock ROM encryption feature) doesn't work, so I have no clue how else to decrypt it. Thing is, I'm not sure if I even need to decrypt it. I just want my phone to boot back up normally.
I tried to reflash the "debloated" H9180s image I had saved from last time I updated my phone, wiped the cache/dalvik, and rebooted, but the boot loop remains. Presumably this is because I couldn't decrypt "data" partition first(?). Then I tried some advice from some other threads, such as this one, and this one), but nothing has worked so far. I can't reinstall twrp because when I boot in fastboot mode, adb can't see my device even though fastboot can (apparently that's due to a patch from the manufacturer to prevent users from rooting their phones). Deleting any of the fota or misc folders didn't help either (most of them weren't there, but the one I did find and deleted had no effect).
Can anyone help me get my phone to boot again? I am open to any solution, whether it keeps root or not, as long as I still have my data and apps. Hoping to eventually get rid of root or figure out how to hide it so I can use certain important apps again. But that's a later step in the process.
EDIT: I forgot to mention that holding the volume down button and the power key when booting my phone has NEVER once worked ever since I have owned this phone. The only way I've ever been able to boot into TWRP (prior to my boot loop) was to plug it into my Macbook and run "adb boot recovery." So any solution with the "volume down and power button" combo isn't going to help. Curious why this has been an issue, too.

I made a backup with TWRP before attempting the original update that caused this issue, but I am doubting the integrity of that backup, because I was not able to decrypt the "data" partition before making the backup. So I backed up the data partition in the encrypted state, but I am not sure if that is restorable or not. Instead, I just tried reflashing the ROM.
When I navigated to the TWRP backups folder where the backup was supposed to have been saved, I couldn't find the (most recent) backup, so I am not sure if I can actually restore anything, should the need arise.
While in TWRP:
adb shell
dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/block/bootdevice/by-name/misc bs=256 count=1
That will wipe the flags that are forcing a reboot into recovery that is trying to apply the OTA.
Once that is done, if you want to return your phone to stock, flash any 10p or higher KDZ. If you don't have download mode, there is a zip in the lafsploit thread that you can flash to get download mode back.

I wasn't able to get connect with my laptop from adb (unauthorized message) but I did enter the dd command in a terminal directly in twrp itself (Advanced > Terminal). It worked!!! Thank you, thank you, thank you! Whew.
If you weren't able to connect with adb, then you are running a bad copy of TWRP (3.1). That build has issues. You need to upgrade to TWRP 3.2 -- but glad you are back up and running.

I'm not sure what you mean by "download" mode, but my other question is: Will flashing a KDZ cause me to lose all my data? If so, how can I make a backup of all my data if the "data" partition is encrypted? I can't get TWRP to decrypt it even when entering the correct PIN that I normally use to unlock my encrypted phone upon regular bootup.
Note that Titanium Backup is not an option if I'm planning to unroot my phone.
Yes, flashing a KDZ wipes your phone.
If your data partition is encrypted, the only way to backup your data is from within the OS (copy to SD card) or use LG backup.
Btw the reason you arnt able to get into recovery via the buttons is because you were doing it wrong, its not hold power and volume down, its actually hold volume down, press power until the screen turns on, then (still holding vol down) tap the power button (either once at exactly the right time, or repeatedly which works more consistantly) until a screen appears asking if you want to factory reset. saying yes (via the volume and power buttons) twice boots twrp if installed, else it boots the stock recovery and wipes the phone.

The same thing happened to me but on my V10. Would this command work on that phone?
I stupidly tried using franco's app to flash cleanKernel on my rooted phone on 9.0.11, it failed of course and now can't boot my phone. I'm able to fastboot boot twrp.img but I'm not sure what is needed next. I've downloaded the full 9.0.11 ota file thinking something in it (or all of it) needs to be flashed from twrp. Afraid to do anything at this point for fear of losing data. Any tips are appreciated.
I've downloaded mauronofrio's rom-stock-fastboot utility but see he says it will clear data. I'm assuming all the .bat files will do this. Any way to avoid clearing internal storage?

From bootloader screen, using fastboot boot twrp.zip results in OP going to "Fastboot Mode" screen...and staying there. The zip is pushed to the phone but won't boot into TWRP. This started after I stupidly tried using franco's app to flash cleanKernel on my rooted phone. It failed of course and now can't boot my phone. My phone recently updated itself to 9.0.11, fyi.
Any ideas on how to fix this boot issue? Is it just a matter of flashing something from the full ota 9.0.11 file---some img file or something?

Wouldn't you want to be using a twrp.img not .zip?
fastboot boot twrp.img
Boot twrp from the img and then flash the zip once twrp boots?
I was able to recover...thank god. Just used mauronofrio's flash utility. Removed the "-w" flag from the flash-all.bat file and all is good.
Stuck on Fastboot Mode screen once I run fastboot boot twrp.img

Hi, I have just got a OnePlus 6T and I am getting this same error even though I am using the twrp.img - when I run fastboot boot 'twrp.img' it sticks on the Fastboot Mode screen.
I have the .zip on the phone's internal storage along with Magisk ready to install but I can't get there.
I did manage to get into Recovery once in the last 3 hours but under Advanced the only 2 options I have are to reboot to fastloader of reboot to recovery which just takes me round in circles!
Have tried everything I can find/think of right now and am no further down the line
Any help guidance will be greatly recieved as nothing I can find on the threads here seem to help
Thanks

When I think about it, it seems that the twrp.img I am flashing is not taking. When I go into recovery I get to choose 1 of 3 languages, I choose English and then I just get the 2 options as above - thing is, the font, layout etc. make it look like stock recovery and nothing like TWRP I have used before, no TWRP logo etc. Nothing

Ok.. can you get into TWRP? Is so reflash the stock rom.. the once it has flashed do not reboot, go back to install and flash the lastest twrp .zip do not reboot, go back to install and flash/install magisk, once it installs then reboot to system... It will take a bit... Once it reboots check your Magisk manager you may need to reinstall it, reboot to TWRP and reflash it.. reboot to system band you should be good to go...
TWRP isn't there

Thanks and apologies if a two posts appear from me, I submitted one about 20 minutes ago and it isn't showing.
The issue is more than that, even when I try to flash the TWRP image it doesn't seem to take. The phone gets stuck on the 'Fastboot Mode' OnePlus flash screen and hangs there.
I have to hold the power and vol+ keys to get the device to restart and I then receive a message saying 'bootloader unlocked, data insecure etc.' and to press the power to stop the boot process. If I leave it the phone boots into OOS10.3.3.
If I press the power button I can get to recovery mode (albeit there is a password screen there which I have never seen on other devices I've had). I put my password in and choose English. I am then given the two options; reboot to fastboot or reboot to recovery. There is no advanced option to allow me to install TWRP or Magisk zips, as a matter of fact I don't get any TWRP at all, it looks like stock recovery.
Is the phone defaulting to stock recovery and not the TWRP image? That is what, in my very non-expert opinion seems to be happening. Is that possible and if so, any ideas how to fix?
I have completely flashed the phone so it is on stock OOS (10.3.3.) so can start afresh. It is a refurbed 'like new' so could that have anything to do with it?
Thanks for reading the long post - am wondering if there are some other tools I need use to change how it boots?

Ok.. are you using the latest TWRP? If you want in the guide section you can you the msmdow like ad tools to reset you phone to stock, and retry again..
THIS. I have the exact same issue. In short, I have the T-mobile version, and was able to unlock successfully. I am using twrp-3.2.3-0, and I have the img and zip in the same folder, same way Techibee does on Youtube. I then type "fastboot boot twrp-3.2.3-0-fajita.img", I get the "OKAY... OKAY... Booting... Finished" response in console. Then, the Fastboot screen appears and never leaves. I have done this 3 times now. I kept tweaking the process, but I'm nervous to keep debugging.

Is your bootloader unlocked? If so, you can just boot TWRP via fastboot (boot the img, not installing the zip) and dirty flash the latest OTA.
If nothing works, boot into EDL mode and use msmdownloadtool as last resort, but you will lose ALL your data in the process. Don't mess with the cable when msmdownloadtool is working or your phone is going to be permanently bricked. You should only use msmdownloadtool if you've tried everything and nothing is working, or you entered Qualcomm crash dump mode and fastboot/recovery isn't working.
I don't understand

Since you uninstalled SystemUI.apk, I'm going to assume you have Magisk and adb/fastboot installed on your PC.
Do you have TWRP installed? If so, just boot into it and dirty flash the latest OTA.
If not, download twrp-3.2.3-2-fajita.img here https://dl.twrp.me/fajita/ and boot into it via fastboot.
On your PC, download the latest OxygenOS from OnePlus website. move the .img you downloaded earlier to your fastboot folder, hold Vol Up + Power until you enter fastboot, back to PC - type into the search bar "cmd" then press enter, type fastboot boot "twrp-3.2.3-2-fajita.img" and press enter. Your phone should boot into TWRP, now copy the OTA file into your phone and install it into both slots (just to be sure).
You're going to lose Magisk if you do this, but you can just reinstall it and it's much better than having a $600 paperweight
Remember that you need to have a working adb and fastboot on your PC to do this.
Some tip: You can backup your data while you're in TWRP via USB mass storage, it's a good idea to do it now just in case your phone is bricked even worse than before.

i don't want lost my data. my phone twrp installed. https://l.facebook.com/l.php?u=http...v2tKWpgjtH1uNa9qGkEpux3yPIjNDUTQIEPCPb_dVJD7U i don't understand it
He had to delete the wrong systemui apk first, with the commands you quoted
then comes those for apk installation
Code:
adb push SystemUI.apk system/app/SystemUI.apk
reboot
i never tried something like that so I dunno if it would work on all devices, or just on rooted or on no one @ all.

Dirty flashing doesn't wipe your data, but you should definitely back up your data in case something goes wrong.
If you have TWRP installed, just do what I typed on my previous reply. To make it clearer:
1. Download the latest OxygenOS for OnePlus 6T here https://www.oneplus.com/support/softwareupgrade/details?code=9
2. Boot into TWRP (Vol Up + power/Vol down + power, I don't remember which one is for recovery). If it asks for password, enter your PIN number
3. USB mass storage should now be available, you can copy/move files from your phone to PC while in this mode. It's a good idea to backup your data now if you haven't.
4. Copy the OTA file you downloaded into your phone
5. Press Install on TWRP, and select the file you downloaded earlier. It's going to take a while, don't panic.
6. When it has finished, DON'T reboot into system. Instead, go back to TWRP.
7. Press Reboot and choose the other slot (opposite of current slot, so if your current slot is B, press A. if it's A, press B)
8. Install the OTA again (This flashes stock OOS into both slot)
9. Again, DON'T reboot into system, go back to TWRP.
10. Press Reboot in TWRP and choose your previous slot.
11. Boot into system
You're not going to lose data if you do this correctly. But, you're going to lose Magisk if you do this (or maybe TWRP too). Just install Magisk again.
Don't permanently install TWRP on OP 6T because it's going to conflict with Magisk. If you need TWRP, just boot into TWRP.img via fastboot instead of permanently installing it.
I don't exactly know how to flash ROMs on A/B partition devices, but this is what I do and it works everytime. Some steps might be unnecessary, though.

i don't fix it. don't work it.
So it had been a while since I had tried getting into recovery twrp but I figured I could remember how so I did
fastboot flash boot twrp etc.img
This was a mistake according to the site here > https://twrp.me/nokia/nokia6_1.html
WARNING: If you accidently flash TWRP to your device using fastboot instead of temporarily booting the image, you will need to download the latest factory image for your device and reflash the boot image.

Which is exactly what I did
So now my phone is either stuck on the Nokia logo, or I can load twrp.
They provide some info on fixing it but I'm not sure I understand what they are saying. Can anyone help with this?
The phone was running Oreo (not sure which version unfortunately) and it was fully rooted and running magisk/xposed/su just fine before my mistake.
I don't have access to fastboot. Only Twrp and adb commands.
Edit, I can get to fastboot/download mode through the twrp terminal.
[SOLVED]
So I was able to use twrp to copy all of my internal files onto an sd card.
Then I set about getting this tool here > https://github.com/RaghuVarma331/Nokia-Tool the firmware specific to my phone, and modifying the bat file found here > https://github.com/RaghuVarma331/Nokia-Tool/blob/master/batscripts/Nokia-Tool-DRG-B2N-PL2-CTL.bat (because windows for some reason gave me a 16 bit application warning when I tried to use the tool exe)
My phone flashed a bunch of time and I was able to load up an almost entirely stock android 10, still capable of using magisk, edxposed, etc.
And now all there is to do is to get everything back onto it and set up which is at this point, the best case scenario.
