If you already had recovery installed before installing lollipop, all you need to do is flash KK kernel so it will boot into it.

Not me. At the end of this, what do I have? It seems like it's a way to get into recovery on Lollipop, maybe for a nandroid backup or other task, but then when the 690 kernel is flashed, do I lose recovery?
CAL7, Yes and no..
You still have recovery files inside your lolipop system, but you can't boot into it because it' doesn't work under lolipop fw.
The trick is that recovery isn't in kernel but in system and you change kernel to be able boot into recovery or into system..
With KK kernel you can boot into recovery, and then you have to reflash lolipop kernel to boot system. That's it..

Actually i upgrade from kitkat to LP with my build flashfile, including customized_IT_690, root and dualrecovery (this to have writing permission (R/W)..... it's good or not ?
2 - When i want come back to normal kernel LP i must flash from recovery 5.0.2 kernel, using zip file (D5803_23.1.A.0.690_Kernel.zip ) or flashtool with ftf file (D5803_23.1.A.0.690_Kernel.FTF) ???
Thank for your work

My Z3C (5803) is on Lollipop, rooted, but without system r/w. I had been thinking that I'd have to go back to KitKat to reflash one of the r/w-included .690 ROMs. But, with this method, can I just flashtool the KK kernel, boot into recovery, and flash a slightly modified (i.e. with the r/w fix) .690 zip?

It's the stock firmware. All i did was root it and install the dual recovery.
I would advice to flash the whole firmware if you want to avoid any kind of complications.
And of course make a nandroid backup before flashing.
Its no flash zip.

The problem is that I already installed stock 5.1.1 and set it up, so I was wandering can you make flashable kernel with recovery? And how did you installed dual recovery? I am curious of how do you do it on newly kernel. I remember it took some time for 5.0.2 kernel to be made with custom recovery.

I'll see what i can do for the kernel.
It's for C6602 but you can flash it on a C6603. The only difference is that C6603 supports LTE but C6602 does not.
You can try it if u want to see the differences with the one you have and let me know!
For Dualrecovery, i used PRFCreator to create the pre-rooted firmware and i included Dualrecovery! No need to mess around with the kernel directly!

Hello, I think you can't.
Because boot isn't in BIN format you can't flash only kernel. And it's in multiple parts, boot, fotakernel, dualrecovery.
I'm too looking for stock kernel with recovery to root, I have unlocked bootloader.

If you are talking about flashing it using recovery, either CWM or TWRP, he definitely can.
All you have to do is place the .zip file in your sdcard, boot into recovery on your phone,do the necessary wipes and install the .zip.That's all.
But if you are talking about flashing it using flashtool then yes he can't use this file. For that he needs the FTF files which isn't the one provided here.

But it's not kernel related. It's 5.1.1 new Fw so u need to wait for working root solution. Anyway, don't try install 5.0 kernel in 5.1 bcoz IMO it's stupid (no offence)

nobody is forcing you to do this method!
Its only unlocked briefly and then relocked again, you can do whatever you like, I'm just suggesting the easiest way. at this point in time,
when you restore the TA partition bootloader is relocked read here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2292598

actually if you're going to downgrade to a rootable version anyways, you don't need to unlock the bootloader at all.
1- downgrade to 5.02
2-root
3-install recovery
4- download a pre-rooted rom or from ftf make your own with prfcreator (make sure to fix recovery or install the latest beta).
5- now you have a rooted 5.1.1 with recovery with locked bootloader.
prf creator is great!
But in my experience, you should flash the recovery.zip and supersu.zip manually after the main.zip, but before rebooting, just to be safe!
OP - already knew about prerooted roms.
ROM downloaded with XperiFirm and pre-rooted with PRFCreator.
Firmware version: 14.6.A.1.236
CDA (customization version): 1280-7864 (Customized CE1)
It contains SuperSU 2.46 andXZDualRecovery 2.8.23 (it will overwrite your current recovery).
You need to be on any rooted ROM already with TWRP custom recovery to flash a .zip file with this firmware!
You don't loose any data (but make your backup before upgrading), you keep root, you update your firmware to the newest Lolipop 5.1.1 build .1.236
IMPORTANT: Flash the ROM with TWRP, not Phillz Touch Recovery.
It can be flashed on locked bootloader.

Do a factory reset if you're experiencing any strange problems.

Nope, everything works fine I've already installed Camera v2, Xposed, SerajrXposed, home from z5 premium and Sonico Audio mod, haven't encountered any problem so far.
What's changed compared with 216?

what firmware you had before flash? I flashed that over 14.5.A.0.270. is that problem?
@xdomx
Yeah, it might be the problem. I had .216 before.
There is such info on XZDR page:
When installing custom STOCK BASED ROMs:
Be sure to flash XZ/ZL/TabZ/Z1/ZU-lockeddualrecovery[VERSION]-BETA.flashable.zip from http://nut.xperia-files.com after installing the ROM and before you reboot, this way you will not lose recovery!
Maybe this step is needed now (it wasn't before). So after flashing ROM zip, flash XZDualRecovery zip and SuperSU zip.
If someone confirms this, please let me know.
Do I have to remove xposed before flashing it? If yes, how can I do it?
No, but you need to update it if you're on old version that doesn't support Android 5.1
It's available via OTA

should be able to, I don't see why it wouldn't work
Arter works fine with it. I updated this morning.
Do you have to have stock recovery + locked bootloader to install?

I had Arter's kernel installed. I thought it would be enough to reflash stock kernel but that doesn't work. Don't think we should have to relock bootloader just to flash a system update....
Peace

What do you mean by flash the system update? Sorry I'm new here, but what exact steps did you do? I am currently on a rooted MR2 with Arter 's kernel.
Received security updates notification a few hours ago.
Still no P-MR3 factory image on Razer dev site.
If need relock bootloader to update I guess I will wait a period. (I hope we can get Android 10 update

compared to MR2, we probably will need to wait for months until razer puts the factory images on their dev-page...
I really can't understand what takes so long for that last step. Just upload that crap and you're done, razer
Can the update be flashed in TWRP without disturbing Magisk or Arter's kernel? I've grabbed the update zip via a link I found by generating a bug report in the developer options and searching for "System_Update". I'm just wondering if it's safe to flash over everything.
Don't really need to relock bootloader and such, Just flash Stock recovery and the update will go through Smoothly, and then you can Reflash your twrp/magisk.

Didn't work for me. What system mods did you have in place? Kernel, root, etc?
Peace

Did you just fastboot flash stock boot image?
Did you install f2fs.zip or any other mods?

No mods not even F2fs and Vold, for the stock boot image I simply fastboot flash it.
I flashed f2fs, wondering if that's why I can't flash update even after flashing stock kernel? ?
Peace
https://github.com/RadekBledowski/Razer_Phone_mods/blob/master/magisk_patched.img?raw=true
here's magisk patched version
to flash arter kernel you have to flash it via zip not fastboot so flash it first via fastboot and flash it again but in twrp as zip
So what I see is you can update without reloacking your bootloader by... (I'm asking if this is right)
1. Fastboot flash stock boot.img
2. Update normally
3. Reflash magisk, your custom kernel and what not.
Correct?
I've tried flashing back to stock kernel but it didn't work for me.
I usually perform the "reset to factory" task from the razer images (properly commenting the line that erases userdata)
After that you just are with original stock and you can update via OTA as usual.
