Hello all,
I have Silver S7 edge since last week. I absolutely love this thing.
I have disabled bloatwares, turned off syncs, wireless & bluetooth scanning. I have not been using AOD.
The battery is very very good.
with GPS & wifi turned on, I lost just 3 % overnight!
Now I was reading about the dozing feature in Nougat. Will Samsung implement the dozing which will improve battery inspite of having let's say background app sync? or will it be the case that the current S7 users won't notice significant improvements in battery life.
PS: I get 4-5 hours of SoT, with lots of Whatsapp calling (close to 2 hours) and normal calling (close to 4 hours).
cheers..

The first beta of nougat will be released just in a few hours, but don't expect good battery and smoothness until the final build comes out. But I am pretty sure that with the stable release, your battery along with everything else will definitely get better.

The beta will be out only in the UK, Korea and US if I'm not wrong and since I don't live there, then soon I will flash the uk version to get nougat.
I also don't live in uk but my firmware says it's uk. also it arrived from uk. so can I also flash it. where to get it?

Hey, I just want to share my battery experience.
Here in the forums we hear a lot about problems. I ordered my phone almost 1 month ago and it just arrived last Thursday. During this whole month I read a lot about battery issues and I was afraid of having it too.
For my surprise it's been wonderful.
So, I want to post this positive experience to calm anyone that's anxious about this problem, as I was three days ago.
I wrote what happened in the screen shot, but basically I'm always connected via wi-fi or 3G, a little bit of web, games, downloads, apps and messages, and only about 3 or 4 calls (it's the feature I use less)
Thanks

Thats pretty sweet. I experienced great battery life for the first 2 days i had it but after putting loads of widgets and etc on it, my battery life isnt so great :/. That damn android os taking up the majority of it.
yeah, the only push notification i use is whatsapp.
as I work with my gmail, facebook and twitter open all day, I don't need their push notification in my phone.
I think it helps too

well, I used as I will use in my real life.
I don't spend 6 hours looking to the screen.
as I said, I work in front of a laptop 12h/day...
My conclusion is that the battery responds my real life needs.
This was not a heavy performance test.
Check out my battery usage and I still have 8% left.....the d stand for day, just so you know.

the airplane mode really helped it. i'd love to see your results with just leaving it regular during the night.
Here is mine with a light usage. Large drops are reboot or GPS. Have I broken the record for the longest battery life?

What's the issue? You used it over around a 19hr period and it drained.... what was your screen on time?
BTW Facebook app will kill a battery.

Downgrade to kitkat. I get 1-2days and like 5 hours SOT
I did experience that as well. I believe it's exynos processor. Snapdragon is a way better than samsung chip - it just works. I'm really sad that I bought n910c. N910F was cheaper and it's better (and it works faster when you encrypt the phone) !
Nothing to do with the processor or Lollipop. I have a N910C on 5.1.1 and get approx 6 hours screen on time daily. There must a rogue app or process draining your power. Also your phone appears to be awake quite a lot when the screen is not on.

oh c'mon - n910f has a way better sot. Anyway - I did remove SD card (encrypted) at it seems that sot is better and performance increased. Need to investigate this.
----
update - there is no improvement in performance. 1 hr sot = 25% battery (and screen is not bright!). for me exynos is crap. I'm switching over to n910f

The one I have is 910F with SD chip dude.. I have rooted it now and using CM12.1.. working gr8.. But missing Stock Camera App and Fingerprint.. trying to install one de-bloated version on XDA ... and see
Hi everyone! It's my first time posting here. I have a problem where everyday I have been getting both Android OS and Android System at the top of my battery stats.
I am running the Android N Dev 5 and getting less that 3 hours of SOT. The phone is only 4 months old.
I have tried to clear the cache and only did a factory reset only once. The reset helps a little but then creeps back. The cache clearing doesn't make a difference.. Something is eating up the battery and I have yet to try to place it on safe mode and hunt for the apps which I find such a time consuming process.
I attached a screen shot of my battery stats. I unplugged it at 11 and connected to wifi, fell asleep and woke up with 85%. Left for work and that's when I started using Data. I see that there are dots at the awake even when was asleep. It's odd and frustrating as I expected to have good battery life on the 6P but was bellow average on 6.0.1 and with N was better but not great.
Its a new phone of just 4 months and am just so tempted to have it checked out.
Any suggestions on the software side of how to fix this battery drain ?
Thanks :fingers-crossed:

For what it's worth my 6P is behaving the same way on the N5 dev build. I went back to M and the battery drain went away. I did a full wipe then downloaded N5 again today, will update if anything improves. I'm not too concerned as the apps are not optimized for N, nor is this the final build.
Keep in mind that Developer Previews aren't designed to be daily driver ROMs and are exactly as they're titled - for developers to get their apps ready.
Flash factory images (all of them; Recovery, Boot, System, etc.) and after things have settled down - an hour or so after all the app install/updates are done, reset your battery stats and confirm SOT from 100% is still as poor as you said on DP5.
With PureNexus July23, the stock settings and kernels and everything that come with PN, systemless root/xposed, Greenify Pro, and using Tasker to disable mobile data while connected to WiFi (and subsequently re-enable Mobile Data when WiFi Disconnects), I get 2 days of battery life.
Hi everyone! Thanks for the views and help.
I went back to M and it's been great so far. Battery life is better than N and got nearly 4 hours of SOT on average.
But thinking of the apps and how they're not optimized makes me think that I should maybe hold back on the next N update till the apps are efficient and work well on it. It sounds silly now as it's still in beta but makes me cautious in some way.
Should maybe root my phone soon giving it more options.
Anyways thanks again everyone. :victory:

Until it is stable release, you can expect all kinds of craziness. It doesn't mean something is wrong.
Google most likely has a lot of debugging going on as this is supposed to be the last beta release.
Expect the public release to be much better.
I'm interested in the V20 (to replace my V10) but am very concerned about the battery. Anyone had, or have, both a V10 and a V20?
The CPU improvements will be nice but that battery is key.
Thanks!

Seems to be somewhat better for me. Not twice as long, but it seems I can get a few extra hours of my (admittedly not very heavy) usage.
Even a few extra hours would be welcomed... Thanks for the input! Looking further into XDA, I appreciate how the V20 seems to be rootable as well.

I almost bought a V10 used to see if maybe I would get a V20 later. I'm glad I went ahead and just got the V20. For me it is better than the Note 4 with the same use.
However, standby time is insane with Android 7.0. Standby on the Note with 6.0 was very good but 7.0 takes Doze a step further and works amazing. If they update the N4 to Nouget then it will prob be about the same as the V20.

They did the V20 good with power saving software. Much better than the V10 which I had previously.
As for screen time and battery size, there's not much of a difference. Maybe a hour more tops.
I bought the V10 in Oct 2015. Got the two battery and SD card deal. Initially, the battery life was good, not quite as good as the V20 has been, but by the time the phone was 6 months old I was changing batteries by noon and still charging later in the afternoon (depends on the day).
The V20 has been great, some power use days I am charging at 6 PM (usually take it off charge at 7-7:30AM on the regular)...other days, I still have 70% left at 10PM with a couple calls, couple texts and checking Facebook hourly.
Now, my wife gets the hand me down, and now uses the V10, she is not a poweruser. on one battery she can get through the work day, but is usually charging when she gets home.
WTF is going on with my battery? I have the S7 Flat snapdragon version (G930v) running the G930u software unrooted which removes all carrier bloat. Screen brightness is set to a little past half way. I have all setting provided by stock software optimized for maximum battery life other than running AOD. I am running a black Wallpaper/Lockscreen/ and an All black theme from the Theme Engine.. I Repeat, I have all stock firmware options Optimized for battery. Every single one. Wth hell is going on here. My battery time is looking Rediculous in comparison. Someone help me out here.

I feel asleep around 3am I guess with 89% and woke up just now close to 11. Heres battery over that 8hr period. 5% during that time. Standby drain is not bad it seems. But only 10hrs on 100% is crazy low compared to what some of you guys are getting.
End of Trial:
What can I do to get this increased.?
4.5 Hr of SOT is very Good. I am on the U firmware also and get 3 SOT. When you make comparisons, compare to SD Soc not the Samsung Exnos. You can download Gsam Battery and give it more permissions thru ADB and monitor. I noticed my proximity sensor (2) are giving high wakelocks.
The SD vs Exnos makes that much of a difference? I'm seeing people get 5.5-6.5screen on time in the main s7 thread. Granted not many relay the information as to weather they have SD/Exnoys or Flat/Edge.
4.5 hours when compared to 6 average over there, eh to me that's on the low end. I'd be losing my mind if I was only getting 3SoT.
I miss removable battery functionality.
Do you guys leave your screens on 24/7 or something? I use my phone quite a bit, but get 24 hours to a charge.
Is this ok?
At this brightness level plus I have turned off buttons backlight.

I get around 4 hours sot when I get home, here is my day with my phone.
730am start streaming audio books through Bluetooth facebook sms email.
4pm stop streaming books 75% battery.
5pm games facebook email sms.
10pm bed time, end the day with 330 to 4 hours sot and 15%battery remaining.
